Link wasn't entirely sure how long he had been stuck in this bedroom after the Gerudo women had left, but he knew it had been too blasted long. By his third attempt to get out of bed, he had at least finally managed to sit up without immediately wanting to pass out. If he could just manage to get up, it would be a start.

The room was small, and the only supplies were medicinal, with the exception of some food and water. No weapons in sight, naturally, but he wouldn't expect any from...

Well. He couldn't exactly call this place a cell, but he was a prisoner nonetheless.

Why had they captured him? Why hadn't they just killed him? Did they need him to use the Triforce? They'd already seized the Triforce of Courage from him in the last battle (and goddesses he tried so very hard to not think about the last battle, about their catastrophic failure, about the bodies littering the field, the queen's desperation and anger and panic and--). He couldn't imagine why they possibly needed him. Cia had been obsessed with him but had still tried to kill him; Ganondorf didn't even care about his existence, so why was he still alive?

He wasn't finding out. He was getting out of here.

As soon as the thought crossed his mind, the door swung open, making the captain jump. He tried to stand and face whoever was entering, but all he succeeded in doing was nearly face planting on the floor until strong, steady hands caught him.

"Nabooru figured you might try to get up," a deep voice rumbled.

Link's blood ran cold. He knew that voice. He'd heard it on the battlefield. He'd heard it when the Triforce of Courage was ripped out of him.

Ganondorf.

The captain tried to struggle against the monster's grip, but he was still too frustratingly weak. Before he knew it he was scooped up into massive arms, and a mild panic squeezed his chest so tightly he couldn't breathe. He couldn't stand to be so close to the man, so completely and utterly helpless and vulnerable in the arms of someone who could crush him in a heartbeat.

When he was gently lowered into the bed, he stared at Ganondorf in a mixture of bewilderment and wariness. "What do you want from me?"

Ganondorf raised an eyebrow at the question. "Currently, I want you to stop trying to get out of bed. You're going to worsen your condition."

Link narrowed his eyes. "And then?"

"And then?" Ganondorf repeated. "And then you'll get sicker, foolish child."

"What difference does it make to you?"

Ganondorf sighed. "Despite whatever idea of me you might have, I'm not interested in you getting yourself killed."

Link inhaled sharply to throw out a retort and found he had none, his mind too weary for whatever biting remark it usually would conjure. Then images of the battle came to mind, and he suddenly found he had far more words than he could say all at once. He settled for, "Killing people hasn't seemed to bother you that much."

Ganondorf watched him a moment, his expression unreadable. It made Link squirm. Finally, the man looked away. "I understand your impression of me is based on the war. That's... understandable. You'll be surprised to know my intentions with the Triforce are not to destroy Hyrule, and I don't kill outside the battlefield. I prefer not to kill at all if I don't have to... but war is war."

The words tore through Link's uneasiness, setting his heart and mind on fire. He jerked upright in the bed, ignoring the dizzy spell that accompanied it. "War is war?! That's your excuse for causing Hyrule to be torn apart at the seams?! Is that what you said before they sealed you away as well?!"

"And what words does your queen use?" Ganondorf fired back, his voice lowering dangerously.

"Queen Zelda is trying to protect Hyrule!" Link argued, his vision blurring as he turned to face his enemy more fully. "This entire war started because of you!"

"I had my soul split into pieces and was sealed away," Ganondorf said, his voice growing quiet, and the air in the room grew impossibly heavy. "Would you not do anything to escape such a torturous fate? I used what abilities I had to manipulate someone powerful enough to do the deed. The destruction she wrought as a result is not my doing."

"Nice way of saying you started this mess but don't want to take responsibility for it," Link snapped.

Surprisingly, that gave the king pause, and he sighed, looking away. "I cannot claim responsibility for what I have not done. I won't. Everything that has occurred since my return is my doing. Not before."

Link was growing too worn out for this argument, but he still had too many things to say. When he opened his mouth to do so, however, he coughed instead, collapsing onto the pillows. Ganondorf's gaze returned to him, softer and mildly worried, and it baffled Link beyond comprehension.

His enemy shook his head subtly with another sigh and tucked the hero in a little better. "I figured this conversation would be too much for you in this state. Get some rest, child."

The captain wanted to scream at him, to find the Master Sword and gut him, but between the man's strange look and the teenager's own exhaustion, all he could do was comply, closing his eyes.

Spinneraki

Oh man. Here we go.

I said I was going to be brutally honest and some of y'all should have known it might end up with me saying stuff you don't like lol. I'm putting a cut to be respectful and not subject anybody to see anything they don't want to.

Okay so--I get the appeal for why people ship it. I do. Spinner clearly cares about Shigaraki, they both like video games which provides lots of potential for fics and all that, they've been through a lot of hard times together in canon....but here's my opinion on it:

It is one of the most one-sided ships in the entire fanbase....?

I mean yeah, Spinner is always keeping a close watch on Shigaraki and trying to make sure he's okay (even though he is absolutely unintentionally making things worse). But I don't really see the sentiment returned on Shigaraki's end, like, ever. I mean it's a canon fact that Shigaraki cares about all of the LOV, but Spinner isn't given special treatment or anything.

And to go along with that, this ship is treated by a lot of the fandom as if it is whole heartedly, undeniably canon. Which baffles me, because a lot of serious metas get written through this lens. And I mean, do what you want. But if I'm trying to analyze the meaning behind a story and make real predictions and stuff, I wouldn't want to be doing it through shipping goggles (Spinneraki is not the only ship whose fanbase does this btw).

And honestly this wouldn't bother me normally, because I don't care about ships in general, but some of the hardcore, die-hard fans of this ship go out of their way to reduce Spinner's entire character to some simp who can't possibly have an arc outside of obsessing over Shigaraki and his dream of destruction, and can't possibly grow into his own type of person that doesn't just borrow other peoples' dreams for his own.

I actually legitimately like Spinner as a character, and I think he deserves better than how some of the Spinneraki ship fanbase treats him if I'm being brutally fucking honest.

Like with a lot of BNHA ships, I get the appeal. But I do NOT get how it has been passed off as legitimately canon by so many people, and how it's resulted in reducing a pretty damn compelling character down to a simp who isn't good for anything other than, well, being a simp. Especially when the sentiment is literally not returned at any point to the same degree. That's not to say Shigaraki doesn't care, because he obviously does and we all KNOW that. But for the reaction this ship gets, I'm honestly surprised considering that the only panels taken from the manga are panels of Spinner acting on his "feelings" while Shigaraki is just, not. Lol.

So, this is one of those ships that honestly flew under the radar for me until the fanbase started getting big and I started seeing Spinner being treated not-so-kindly by the fandom.

Send me a ship and I'll be BRUTALLY honest about it lol.

11. What do you like best about this fic?

Probably how I write Daryl and Reader as characters.

While some aspects of Daryl in my series might be a little OOC, I like to think I wrote him pretty true to character in that he's very loyal and caring. He's also a hothead at times (though he's trying to get better!) so I think I captured that pretty well, too.

In regards to the reader insert character (who is essentially a customizable OC), I think she seems like a real person. A lot of her personality is a dramatized version of me (lol), but with a lot of added backstory that's very different from me. I kind of hate characters who are like super tough and are already highly skilled and are basically perfect in every way, so I wanted to make her kind of just... real.

She's not tough in a lot of ways, and she has to earn her strength. She's sensitive, and scared, but she's also resourceful, and tries her best to keep composure in a world that's absolutely terrifying to live in. She can stand up for herself, but sometimes it's harder for her, especially when her strength is being called into question, since that's something she's a very insecure about. So I really try to capture normal human complexities, and to not make her like this stereotypical action heroine tough woman who doesn't need anybody and can take care of herself. Of course, she can to an extent, but she's also just a normal person, and no matter how much she goes through, she's going to need her friends and family. That doesn't mean she's weak or a "damsel in distress," it just means she's a real person, I think. I'm tired of "badass" characters. Reader can be a "badass," but really she's just like you and me, trying to make her way through a post-apocalyptic world.

TLDR; I'm happy with how I characterize people lmao.

12. What do you like least about this fic?

I don't really like the scenes that are word-for-word from the show. I try to cut them down, but sometimes they're important for the context, and help establish a timeline so you guys know when everything is taking place. If I can incorporate Reader, I do, but when it's just stuff from the show... I don't like that, and I'm sure y'all don't either lol (sorry).

There are also tons of things about my writing that bother me like certain words I use way too much and inconsistencies with punctuation but that's more nitpicky I guess.

Once again you're in your hometown, billions of miles away from your friends and your crush. So you sit there in this cold-ass living room, wrapped up in three layers of blankets, zapping through the channels of your TV and sighing melancholy every once in a while. By each minute that passes by your boredom gets worse and your sighs louder. Your parents aren't even at home to see your suffering self because they are both gone hiking. You wanted to tag along with them but they went with some friends and told you to sleep in, after all it has been a long time since you really had some relaxation just by yourself. That might be true but you still barely can handle this situation right now. You remember the promise you gave your parents months ago,"I promise you, I'll be at home with you guys for at least three weeks in the summer break!You can even plan what we are going to do! "... Great job there Y/N... It's not like you don't love your parents or dislike hanging out with them it's just if you had known that they would just be gone the whole time and you would sit around with nothing to do, you would have known better. Like for example maybe make a list of what y'all could do together and not letting them plan. Anyways you love your parents dearly but you also miss your friends. You miss Corey's dance moves, Devyn's make-up tips, Sam's challenges, Kat's hugs, Aaron's singing, Elton's traveling ideas, Amanda's laughter, Brennen's nicknames for you and who you miss the most is the wonderful Colby Brock. While your thumb is still zapping through the thousands of channels your mind drifts off, "What might they all be up to right now? I kinda wonder what Colby is doing... should I text him? What if he's working right now and I'm just bothering him? I might be thinking too much.." You shake your head to get all of this thoughts outta your head. Suddenly your phone starts vibrating. With a lazy groan you roll over to unlock this noise-maker. As soon as you see who texted you, you jump off the couch with pure excitement:It's Colby! After you've finished your happy dance and totally failing at the attempt to play the air-guitar, you open the chat.

Colby: "How's it going pretty lady? 😉"

"WINKY FACE! WINKY FUCKING FACE OH MY FUCKING GOD!HE CALLED ME PRETTY AND LADY WE ARE PRACTICALLY MARRIED", you scream and jump around the house. Of course you want to keep your cool in front of him so you try to think of a laid back answer. But it still took you 47 tries to simply type,

"Pretty good, boredom tortures me a little tho. What about yourself handsome? 😏"

You bounce around and kinda regret calling him "handsome" even though he certainly is one hella attractive man but it sounds kind of cringey when you think of it. But because of your excitement you just shrug and don't give a single fuck. Not even a minute after you've hit send Colby texts.

Colby:"handsome huh?😏Are you trying to make me blush? Well your plan works I'm a tomato🍅 Anyways Brennen's keeping me company in my room right now and I'm laying in bed watching him taking selfies... Quite interesting I must say"

You giggle to yourself imagining those two and before you could type your answer you see a message from the contact "Hot stuff🍑" pop up. It's Brennen asking if you have time for a quick chat on FaceTime. You slightly fix your hair and call him. Brennen greets you with a wide smile and a loud, "What's good what's popping what's Guccii baby? " As far you've noticed, Brennen's in the kitchen of the squads house at the moment holding a sandwich in his right hand. You laugh and ask, "Hey Brennen everything's just fine here. Why did you wanna call me it sounded like you wanna tell me something really important?" The young YouTuber chuckles and says, "Well it's not necessarily an emergency but surely important. So yeah let's begin: I'm at the squads house and I think you've noticed that by now and some minutes ago I was like chillin with my bae Colby and taking some dope-ass selfies and he was texting you of course. He had like this big-ass grin on his face and I decided to go through my Instagram. After a short while I noticed him pulling out a piece of clothing that was underneath his pillow. And I thought 'what's he doin with that shirt?' so I continued watching him sneakily. Colby then decides to start sniffing the shirt and boy I was so confused. I thought this was a hella new level to self love but then it got me like a lightning strike. The shirt was the shirt you wore on your last day here before you left when we were camping in the garden with the others. Man this boy misses you like crazy! Oh and he has also been talking bout you all the time since you've been gone! "

You can't believe what Brennen just told you. The smile on your face can't be stopped and all you want to do right now is dance around and hug everybody on this damn planet. Your friend notices your joy and says, "Aww look at your cute smile! Besides I didn't want him to interrupt me telling our angel this cute but weird story so I told him I gotta grab a sandwich.",he took a big bite out of the sandwich and keeps on talking, "But now I have to show you this kid in love~" So Brennen walks up the stairs, slams the door of Colby's room wide open and sings/yells, "COLBYYYY LOOK WHO'S ON THE PHONE WITH MEEEE" He switches cameras so you could see Colby laying on his bed cuddling with a black shirt. This boy is so confused and just looks up to Brennen and says, "Bro what the fuck? Who are you on the phone with?" You hear laughter behind the camera and Brennen's voice saying, " It's our beloved Y/N wanna explain to her why you are cuddling with the t-shirt she wore just some weeks ago?"
