Happy belated Rakshabandhan to the ones who celebrate! (For the ones who don't know what it is, its a festival when sisters tie an ornamental band on brothers wrists in exchange for protection. Now it's symbolic and we tie the bands in exchange for gifts lmfao). I got a watch as a gift from my cousin brother!!! At the perfect time too, cause I forgot both my watches at home while coming back to uni.

My thesis work is finally moving a bit and it's equally daunting as is exciting. I'm looking forward to the coming year haha.

So Howdy is basically that one annoying ass kid in high school who’d call everyone around him ‘queer’ as an insult when it’s pretty obvious that he was gay himself and self projecting? Lmaooo i love it and it really does explain a lot!

Ngl though and I’m not trying to bash on laughingstock but i think it’s EDDIE that Howdy might be crushing on since in the banner on the previous update, Howdy’s icon is looking at Eddie’s.

I think he treats him hostilely is because he has feelings for him and he doesn’t know how to process them and so it comes out as anger and passive aggressive resentment.

Ofc I don’t think he’d be the best partner for Eddie due to this… I do think though that when it’s revealed that Eddie and Frank are madly in love that it’s going to cause Howdy to feel more anger and maybe even hatred towards the two.

ehhhh.... not buying it, sorry!

i'd be willing to hear this theory out if there was any evidence other than "Howdy is looking at him in the banner" (and Home is looking at Howdy, and Barn is looking at Wally, and Wally is looking at Us, and Julie is looking at Frank - it doesn't necessarily connotate romance) and the idea of Howdy's treatment of Eddie being a "get out of my school" type of thing.

but if that were the case, wouldn't we have seen more evidence by now? like... Any?? Howdy and Eddie have had minimal interaction, and in each one Howdy was fully disinterested and dismissive of Eddie. there is literally nothing in his behavior or dialogue that implies romantic feelings, repressed or otherwise. you'd think that Howdy would at least get a little flustered or defensive, but he doesn't! all he expresses is disinterest and slight annoyance.

and this just... doesn't feel like a story where a major plot point is "character A is jealous of the established relationship because A is in love with one of them". it's a bit... how do i say? Tacky, perhaps? a touch basic? a teeny bit uninspired...

and character-wise, Howdy having feelings for Eddie doesn't make much sense (the thought that Howdy's treatment of him stems from romantic feelings Definitely doesn't). it doesn't really fit him and what we know about him? there's a reason Howdy views Eddie as a rival, i think.

As a fellow aroace, I did think it was romantic, but also all my preexisting ideas of romance come from other ships and none of them are as interesting as this (aside from madoka/homura but all my favourite ships are some variation of that) anyway I'm eating your sifloop interpretation with ten spoons. Have you considered writing fanfic because if you did I would read it on loop

anyway, soulmate au where grian and scar have a telepathic connection, and scar is undercover as a hero to take it down from the inside. not even villains know he’s one of them.

everyone thinks hawkeye’s soulmate is just this unthreatening used bookstore owner named grian… when in reality he is the city’s number one supervillain who has the city’s top hero under his protection for some reason.

and all the villains think that watcher is lulling hawkeye into a false sense of security, making him feel safe, when in reality they’re literally the dynamic duo.

grian and scar fight in public sometimes to keep up appearances, but it’s very easy to dodge when you literally know your opponent’s next moves <3<3

hey something that's confused me and i need a second opinion on: is the "technopath language" an actual language that polyglots just don't understand, or is it just the enlightened language with technology-related words and jargon for the things they make that nobody else knows/cares abt?

My interpretation has always been that the "language" is just hyperspecific babble, but still in enlightened.

Additionally it's the language of machines, which presumably speak differently than people. So perhaps it's a mechanical distortion of enlightened, which is why polyglots can't understand it.

the first (imperfect) analogy coming to mind is pig latin. there's a method to the distortion of English, as there's undoubtedly rules to how the technopath language functions, but that doesn't make it inherently recognizable to English or enlightened speakers. and that also doesn't make it it's own language

and since it's still enlightened at its core, polyglots don't recognize it as different and translate/understand it as nonsense enlightened

that's how I conceptualize it at least--doesn't mean I'm right!

when my books are all the rage and popular across the globe, i am not afraid of the freaky weird bad fanfiction that people might write (i am excited for it even) but i am deeply discomfited by the idea of people like. hopepunking my shit. like i really really really want a way to make it clear one day that my original blorbos are not to be turned into Examples of Positive Healing or hopepunked or hopewashed into “but one day they just wake up and they know how to love and be okay and are only ever mildly unhappy after that <3” like. one of my nightmares. i would prefer there to be sooo much dark fic over limp sanitized morally and socially correct linear healing narratives.

Do you think Ava and Janine being a thing is a serious conversation/plot line in the writers room or does it just stop at the subtle (not so subtle) signs that Ava is clearly attracted to Janine?

i have the tiniest speck of hope that like at least one writer has ava and janine on the mind but if it actually does happen? nah not really. because its a pretty popular show and because theres already the 'queer quota' when it comes to jacob and because lesbians (especially lesbians of color) in media are received with far more criticism im not sure if its a 'risk' the writers would even be allowed to make. my hopes are through the roof and i would love if something between them were to genuinely happen but also if it doesnt i still see the way ava is around janine i know what she is 👁️👁️
