Following this fanart of Nacho lazying in Lalo's Monte Carlo, I felt inspired enough to write a little something to go with it! So, here is a little one shot, hope you enjoy! This has been done in one go, I didn't even gave it a second reading, so I apologize in advance for any mistakes! word count: 1,8 K pairing : Eduardo Lalo Salamanca / Ignacio Nacho Varga
Read it on AO3
Territory
Nacho sighed.
It must have been the tenth time in the last hour. They were lost. Nacho was sure of it. They were on a tiny dusty road in the middle of nowhere. Nacho never went that far in the desert. Lalo's reassurance sounded dull.
“My source is secure.”
“Stop panicking, Nachito. I know what I'm doing.”
“We took all the water and everything you insisted to take with us, why are you still panicking?”
“It's just a few miles away.”
“Just another few miles, really.”
Nacho rested his temple against his hand, elbow propped on the car's door. The air of the desert was rushing inside the vehicle, providing a bit of coolness, the only good thing about this whole trip into the freaking desert.
“There is no freaking racing tracks out there. Your source doesn't know shit.”
Lalo's fingers were tapping to the rhythm of the music. Because of course Lalo had to make the situation the most insufferable for Nacho.
“Have a bit of faith, Ignacio!”
The Monte Carlo stuttered.
“Oh.” Lalo said, eloquently.
Nacho looked over to the board. “What is it?” When he got no answer he switched to Lalo's face. He looked serious for the first time since they left Albuquerque. The car chattered, slowing down. Lalo grimaced.
“Uh.”
The car was slowing down. Nacho sat straighter, peering at the needles on the board. Low on gas. Anger suddenly flaring up in his guts.
“Oh you better be fucking kidding me Lalo.”
Lalo steered the Monte Carlo to the side of the road, slowing until they stilled. The lack of wind immediately made the air less breathable. At least it wasn't too early in the day.
“You didn't fill up the tank before leaving for a trip in the desert?!”
“It's fine! I have a jerrycan in the truck anyway.”
Lalo turned to Nacho, and he dared to pull up a bright smile at him.
“I'll go check it all. You try to relax, eh? I got this.”
Lalo patted Nacho's thigh before stepping out of the car. Nacho was going to slaughter him.
Nacho sat in the car for maybe a minute, glaring at Lalo through the rear-view mirror as the man went to retrieve the can of gasoline. His temper flared up again when Lalo took a pensive stance before the fuel tank instead of pouring the damn thing inside. There was a problem. Nacho gritted his teeth as he stepped out, walking around to see what was going on.
“What are you waiting for?”
Lalo padded around the car, before crouching to take a look under it.
“I think there is a hole in the tank.”
Nacho looked over to the horizon, eyes scanning without really watching, anything not to see Lalo anymore. He pinched his lips, bringing a hand to squeeze the edge of his nose, and cursed.
“Great. What now?”
Lalo was back on his feet, and fished his phone in his pocket. He turned a bit in circle, phone up in the air. “Hm... Looks like there really is no service out here, uh?”
Nacho grabbed his own phone. No service. He looked around them. The really elevated relief were quite far. Nacho jumped onto the Monte Carlo's hood. Lalo protested, stepping forward as if he was about to grab for Nacho's leg. Nacho glared down at him, stepping over the roof of the vehicle. Lalo didn't insist. Nacho extended his arm up in the air. Still, his flip phone indicated no service.
When he looked down, Lalo was looking up at him. “I think we need to walk. We could try these hills.” He nodded behind Nacho.
Nacho looked over, and sure, maybe they may have a chance with those. He looked back at Lalo, who was waiting an answer with an eyebrow turn up in question. Nacho jumped off the roof, landing beside Lalo, supple like a cat.
“You.”
Lalo frowned, “Me, what?”
Nacho tucked his hands at his hips. “You need to walk. You could try these hills.”
Lalo opened his mouth, his frown deepening but Nacho was the first to speak. “You decided to bring us out here, following what was clearly a fake info, and you got us lost here. So you are going to solve that freaking situation that you caused.”
Nacho stepped away, circling back around the car to reach the passenger side again, clearly putting an end to the conversation. He was furious. Yet, Lalo wasn't finished.
“So what? We're in this together aren't we? We have more chance to get out of here if we work together.”
Nacho sent him a razor sharp look as he pulled the backrest of his seat forward, before briefly disappearing inside the Monte Carlo. He straightened back up, and threw a bottle of water at Lalo. Lalo caught it easily. The cold temperature of it a big contrast with the desert's warmth. Nacho rested a foot on the edge of the car, right next to the seat, and when his eyes met Lalo's, they still had this sharpness to them.
“I'll guard our supplies. You better start walking right now, the sun will not be up for very long and those hills aren't that close.”
And with no further consideration, Nacho threw his seat back in place before sitting back inside the car, rested his head against the leather and sighed once again, loud and dramatic.
Lalo's hike to the hills went fine. It was hot, but not as hot as it could have been if they left in the morning. But Lalo had everything planned.
Him and Nacho had this thing going on between them since weeks now, and Lalo had yet to finish playing with his new very entertaining mouse. Nacho was unlike the men he usually met and dated. More capable. Stronger. Smarter. And much more handsome. He couldn't recall any of his past lovers to be that pretty.
As he falsely checked his phone on top of the hills, just in case his Nachito was supervising his every actions, Lalo smiled. He didn't lie when he told Nacho he had this. Soon he'll make his cariño feel better, the unlucky incident becoming a nice moment to share and they'll be laughing about this whole thing in the future. He was so sure of it.
When he approached the Monte Carlo, the sun was far lower over the horizon, painting the sky in purple and blue. Nacho was half-laying down in the car, absolutely not looking in his direction after all. The windows were closed. The air felt cooler, but Lalo doubted Nacho felt comfortable yet. It must still be quite warm inside.
Lalo padded around the car, abandoned his half empty bottle on the roof, and bent down to take a look inside. Nacho had stripped from his shirt, his red under shirt and muscled arms crossed over his abdomen, left to see. One leg tucked over his knee. His eyes were closed. Lalo knocked on the window just to see if it would startle his little Nachito.
Nacho didn't startle. He didn't even flinch. He simply opened his eyes to glare at Lalo.
“So?”
Lalo shrugged, shaking his head no. “No service.”
He went to open the door. It didn't open. He had left the keys on the ignition.
He looked back up at Nacho, who had unfolded his arms, spreading them over the board and backrest of his seat. He then extended his legs until his booted feet rested on Lalo's seat.
“Too bad.”
Lalo's blood ran faster in his veins.
“Open the door.” His voice was colder.
Nacho smirked. “I don't think so.”
Lalo huffed a laugh, his tone now really stripped of any amusement. “You don't think so?”
Nacho briefly looked hesitant, but it only lasted a fraction of a second before his eyes were looking back at him with this signature sharpness again.
“There isn't enough room for the both of us.” Lalo knew there was. If there was enough space to fuck, there was enough space to sleep. “And you don't even sleep much anyway. Keep walking around to find some service.”
“You can't be serious, Ignacio. It'll get cold at night.”
“Walking keeps you warm.”
Lalo kept staring back for a few seconds, teeth gritting, before he straightened back up, eyes scanning the horizon. His thoughts ran fast. Well, his little plan to get his Nachito have a little fun tonight under the stars was compromised. But he could still turn the table. A smirk pulled at his lips.
Nacho woke up with a painful neck. He had tried to use his shirt as a pillow to make the angles of the Monte Carlo less sharp, but there was no solution to really sleep comfortably in a car.
He brushed the sleep out of his eyes. The sun was barely over the horizon. No Lalo in sight.
Nacho unlocked the car doors, stepped out, stretched a little to try and make his limbs less stiff. He circled the vehicle, blinking at the landscape to try and catch a sight of Lalo, but there was none. He didn't left him here alone, right? Nacho didn't hear any car passing by during the night.
He found Lalo once he reached the other side of the car. He was sitting on the dirt road, back against the driver door. Lalo looked up at him, and smiled. Nacho wasn't really expecting him to smile after treating him like he did. He was really angry yesterday, he realized.
“Hola cariño. Slept well?”
Nacho raised an eyebrow. “No. Your car is a hell to sleep in.”
Lalo grinned and nodded, as if he knew how uncomfortable it actually was to spend a full night of sleep inside the Monte Carlo. He stood up, dusting his jeans and shirt.
“Ready to go?”
Nacho frowned, crossing his arms over his chest. “Very funny.”
Lalo bent down to pick up the jerrycan, and flipped it in the air, catching it back before padding back to the truck. It looked empty. What the fuck.
“What the fuck?” Nacho echoed his thought.
Nacho went to his knees, bending down to look under the car to see the gasoline leak in the dust.
“Did the cold made you completely dumb or—”
The ground was perfectly dry. Realization turned his blood to ice. His breath caught in his throat. There was never a problem with the car. Everything was fake. Nacho ruined what he now saw as Lalo's plan all along. A plan for them to spend a moment together. A nice moment. He was an imbecile.
Lalo's booted feet stopped right beside him, and Nacho sat back on his heels to look up at him, breath short. Lalo's dark eyes looked empty as he smiled back at him.
“Already on your knees to beg for forgiveness?”

"Where'd you get that scar?"
There wasn't an easy answer; Nacho had many scars. He asked, "Which one?"
The Monte Carlo squealed to a stop before a red light, and Lalo turned his upper body toward Nacho. Lifting his arm to rest his elbow along the back of the seat, he reached out and touched the tip of his pinky finger to Nacho's eyebrow. "This one," he said. The light had turned green, but he either didn't notice or didn't care. It didn't matter, anyway. It was late, and the roads were empty and slick with a strange, unexpected rain. "Tell me about it."
When Lalo dropped his hand, Nacho lifted his own to its place. The scar was deep, so much so that he was left with a little bald spot in his eyebrow. He hadn't thought about it in years; It was just there. It was just a part of him, like the piece of another man's skull in his shoulder or the aching chasm in his chest. He was used to it.
A car pulled up behind them, and Nacho blinked in the sudden brightness of the headlights.
It idled behind them for a long moment, and Lalo glared at it as if the driver could see him. It honked, and he hissed, "¡Sigue adelante, cabrón!," as if the driver could hear him. Maybe they could, because even though they honked again, they pulled around the Monte Carlo and sped off into the night.
Lalo's dark, dark eyes found Nacho again, and he said, "Tell me about it, Ignacio."
Nacho didn't say, Only if you get us off the road. He didn't say, Someone's gonna hit us. He didn't say, Stop looking at me like you actually give a shit. He did say, "You know me and Domingo grew up together, right?"
Lalo said, "I do." He had been told weeks ago, and things had only gotten more complicated since then. Fring was breathing down Nacho's neck and the DEA was sniffing around and nothing at all had improved. There future was unclear. The upcoming drive down to Mexico was all there was to see, and he had no idea if he would ever be returning home.
"He's kind of a soft touch," Nacho said, though he felt bad saying it. He was sure Lalo had already realized it, though. He'd probably realized it that first day in El Michoacáno when he'd left Domingo looking like a scared fawn in the lobby while he cooked. "He was getting picked on, and chicanos gotta stick together, right?" He very much doubted the Salamanca prince knew anything about that, but Lalo nodded anyway. "It turned into this full-on brawl. I was all cut up, and Domingo ended up with a broken arm, and all of us nearly got expelled, but we won."
"That's all that matters," Lalo said with a shrug, and Nacho was certain he believed it. As long as the Salamancas were victorious, any loss was worth it, so long as that loss wasn't of Salamanca blood. It made Nacho's stomach twist. He'd nearly been such a loss. It had been Salamanca blood that had saved him. "Keep going."
Now it was Nacho's turn to shrug. "Tuco heard about it and made me an offer I couldn't refuse." He hadn't wanted Domingo, though. Domingo hadn't been brought in until much later, after a raid had left the Salamancas with far too few men to keep Hector's grip on the city.
"I've heard this part of the story!" Lalo's laugh filled the car easily, drowning out the sound of the rain. "You punched him in the nose!"
He had. It was extremely lucky that Tuco had been high out of his mind and found it hilarious, or Nacho would have been shot on the spot. Instead, he'd been pistol-whipped and left to bleed in the schoolyard.
Lalo finally took his foot off the break, seemingly satisfied, and off they went.
The pistol-whipping had only re-opened the scar, though. It hadn't been the cause of it at all.
In actuality, it had happened when Nacho was seven years old. He'd been upset about spending his Sunday morning in church in a stuffy little suit, and he'd been running up and down the aisle until his shoe caught at the edge of the runner and he'd fallen and conked his head on one of the pews. Lalo didn't need to know that.

Princesa Salamanca: Chapter 2
Chapter synopsis: Sarah misses Lalo, and Nacho isn't giving her any leeway in the relationship she's supposed to form with him in order to report back to her husband. But, lo and behold, he ends up getting shot (us viewers know why...good try pulling a fast one on Hector, Ignacio), and Sarah, along with the Salamanca twins and our local criminal veterinarian, is left to clean up the mess.
A/N: Part 2, though it's definitely not edited! I know this isn't exactly what happened between the veterinarian saving Nacho, but I wanted to show more Sarah. Any comments, reblogs, etc are much appreciated, and a special thank you to @wh0re4murdock @paigerzz and @slainmanca for liking the first part! :) I hope you enjoy part 2! Part 1 is also linked below.
Chapter 2:
“I’m telling you Lalo, he hates me,” Sarah said into the phone as she rolled her eyes. Nacho was stubborn, as promised, and he was not especially fond of her waltzing into El Michoacano like she owned the place, which technically, she kind of did.
How and why was this gringa so happy to be working with the cartel? How was she involved, and what did she contribute? And why does everyone treat her with so much respect? What has she done?
Nacho was sitting at his usual table, counting money, and he eyed the girl as she talked on the phone, twirling her hair.
“I’ve tried so much. I’ve tried asking about business, about family, about his two girlfriends at home. Nothing,” Sarah sighed in exasperation. Nacho was now giving her the death glare.
“I’m sure you’ll figure out something, sweetheart, and I’ll be there this week,” Lalo promised her. “Okay? Adios princesa.”
She closed the phone and crossed her arms. Sarah stared back at Nacho.
“What’s your deal?” She asked him. “I haven’t done anything to you.”
“What’s your deal?” Nacho asked back. “Why are you here?”
“I told you, Ignacio, I’m helping out the family business.”
“You don’t look like family. Maybe one of the side girls. A little white girl, needing help, or drugs, so she stows away with the men that run it all. And services them in return for their-”
“Marate,” Leo warned from the side of the room.
Damn right he better watch himself. She was helping him out, taking time away from her life, to come here and do what he couldn’t do himself. She was helping her Lalo. Anything for Lalo. He would be here soon, and she would be back to feeling secure. Everything was better when Lalo was with her. She would do anything for him to be with her. She would do anything for him. Anything. She was his and his alone. It was nice to think about every once in a while.
A few days later, Sarah was sitting in the back of El Michoacana, filling out her crossword book to pass the time while the twins were checking out one of the local guys that had apparently got hit. Nacho was with them. That would be one less stressor off her back if he was whipped into shape, or even taken care of completely. However, Lalo would be upset. She wiped the thought of finding Nacho dead at the accident scene out of her mind.
The phone rang. Sarah jolted up, expecting it to be Lalo. It was Marco.
“Hola primo,” Sarah said, looking back at her crossword puzzle. He spoke rushed. Nacho was shot, twice, and bleeding, but not dead yet.
“Es un veterinario en Albuquerque. Un Caldera. Encontrarlo. Encuéntranos en el garaje del padre de Varga.”
“Got it. Be there soon.” Sarah hung up the phone.
Outside was her 1970 Monte Carlo, a red one of course, a color Lalo said was his favorite on her, so it was natural that the car he would have waiting for her in ABQ was the same. Red slippers, red car, red lingerie, red blushing cheeks. It was supposed to be a lustful color, but it made her look innocent according to Lalo.
Sarah popped the trunk and switched out a pair of nude heels for black leather loafers, as well as grabbing a black leather jacket to cover up her sundress. Professional. The last thing she grabbed from the trunk was her gun, a Heckler & Koch P7 to match with her Lalo’s, and she was on her way to the veterinarian office. It took just two calls to find the right one. Doctor Caldera.
Upon her arrival, Sarah pulled down the sun visor. She pinched her cheeks and pulled out the eyedrops from her purse. Fake tears oughta get the doctor out to her car.
She ran into the office, feigning tears, of course turning the receptionist’s head away from her computer. “Please, please my cat was just hit by a car! Please, please, come out and help him!”
The woman at the front desk stood up. “I’ll grab a carrier and bring him inside right away. The doctor is in the middle-”
Sarah sobbed, protesting, “No, no, no I need the doctor please! Right away!” She rushed to the front desk, white knuckling the counter. “And my Jorge is such a skittish one, please, please just the doctor. I can’t make him any more scared than he already is. It could be his last moments! Please help my baby!”
The examination room swung open. “What is all the ruckus?” It was the doctor. “We have a waiting room-”
“No!” Sarah screamed behind tears. “Please, please doctor, you have to help me.”
The man with the glasses rolled his eyes and sighed. “Alright, Mary-Beth, I’ll be right back.”
The receptionist nodded solemnly, and the doctor, annoyed, followed Sarah out the door. Immediately after exiting the office, she wiped her fake tears away and sniffled her face back into place. “So what is it you were crying about?” The doctor asked. “Some Jorge, and a car?”
“Just get in the car.”
“Well, we can bring the animal inside,” the doctor suggested. Sarah rolled her eyes and got into the driver’s seat. “Hey, what are you doing?” He asked.
Sarah opened the passenger door and smiled sweetly. “Get. In. My. Car.”
“Is there even an animal?” Sarah tilted her head, dropping the smile, and pulled up the hem of her dress to reveal the gun in its holster. The doctor’s expression changed when he saw that, and she went back to smiling. “Woah, woah, I don’t want any trouble, ma’am.”
“Doctor Caldera. Please get in the car.”
He swallowed and sat down in the passenger seat, rubbing his now sweaty palms on his slacks.
“One of my guys, well one of my guy’s guys got shot, and we need you. He can’t go to the hospital. They’re not exactly cartel friendly, you know,” Sarah chuckled. “Anyways, they said you’re the guy to call. The Salamanca’s…you know them?”
Doctor Caldera’s jaw dropped. “No, no. I’m not helping some street gang.” Sarah revealed the gun again. “Okay, okay, okay! Just let me tell my receptionist.”
The doctor muttered to himself as he walked back into the office, shaking his head. After a minute or so, he walked back out holding a medical bag, looking just as peeved. Sarah honked. “Let’s go! We don’t have all day!”
The twins were at the garage when Sarah and the doctor pulled up. Sarah came to a quick stop, almost throwing the doctor’s medical bag out the windshield. She got out and strutted inside, where they were trying to carry Ignacio. “Let’s go, Caldera!”
This would have been much easier if they had just used the vet van to transport the dying Varga, but no, the vet didn’t want any “evidence” left behind in his place of work. Right. And leaving in a flashy red car in the middle of the day isn’t evidence in and of itself.
Sarah grabbed the bag from the doctor so he could help carry Nacho. Inside, she cleared a table full of wrenches and placed down a medical sheet that Caldera had brought along with them, along with another one folded up to be Nacho’s pillow for the make-shift procedure.
“Right here,” she said, and the men placed him down. Nacho winced and groaned in pain.
Marco helped the doctor pull off Varga’s shirt to reveal a bloody scene. Sarah grimaced as she noticed the two bullet holes, one in his shoulder and the other in his side. It appeared that there was at least an exit wound for the latter.
The doctor snapped on his blue medical gloves and clapped his hands. “You, English, come.” He motioned towards her for help.
The pair rolled Nacho onto his side so the doctor could clean out the first wound. As he faded in and out of consciousness, Nacho reminded Sarah of her son doing the same thing, moments before his final flatline. She inhaled deeply, and grabbed Ignacio’s hand out of instinct. “You’re gonna be okay,” she said calmly. Sarah didn’t know if that was the truth or not, but it’s what she used to tell Sam, and it comforted him, right? “Ignacio, look at me.”
It was almost like Nacho’s eyes rolled back into his head out of spite. Everything went black.
When he woke up, Marco was sitting next to the makeshift operating table. Nacho winced and struggled to breathe. Sarah snapped out of her brief slumber with a start, practically bouncing her head off of Leo’s shoulder. Something she still hadn’t gotten past from her time at Tuco’s was waking up like that, in a panic of where she was and who she was next to.
“Well, well, there he is,” Caldera said, moving to Nacho’s bedside.
Sarah moved towards his head and placed one of her hands on Ignacio’s unwounded shoulder, trying to comfort him. He looked at her standing above him, and since he had no energy left, Nacho begrudgingly let Lalo’s girl rub his shoulder in an effort to “soothe him”. Her mere presence pissed him off. Stupid little girl.
The doctor explained that he had to leave one of the bullets in, but the other one is fine. No nicked bowel, or at least that’s what it looks like for now, but he reminded Nacho to keep an eye on it. Then he leaned down to Nacho’s ear and whispered, “After I walk out of here, I never wanna see you again. Ever. This cartel shit is too hot for me. Got it?”
Doctor Caldera looked up at Sarah, pointing at her face. “You too. Got it?”
She narrowed her eyes, but said nothing. The doctor walked out without another word.

Lucía shows up at the beguinage, where her mother has summoned her. In this place she lives with other women independently and outside the Church. The young woman opens up to a new world that will make her question everything she has known until now. And, furthermore, he will know love through a pure and uncontrollable, but forbidden, passion. He will risk everything for Telmo, a Jewish man who must hide his beliefs and his past.
Main cast and characters
Lucía de Avellaneda (Amaia Aberasturi) Intelligent, curious and combative. Educated and innocent, until her mother's call disrupts her life. In the beguinage she discovers an environment of sorority and critical thinking that revolutionizes her idea of the world and breaks down the walls that her status as a Christian noble woman has imposed on her. When she meets Telmo she feels for the first time an attraction that she has never experienced, but his commitment and loyalty will stop her impulses, determined to fight for what really matters to her.
Telmo Medina (Yon González): Telmo is an attractive, lucid and mysterious young man who hides his Jewish origins. He works in a bakery and supplies the beguinage with what it needs from outside. Marie Anne (Beatriz Segura) Beguine and the successor of The Great Lady, she is wise, strong and enigmatic. Its mission is to protect the beguinage from certain ecclesiastical authorities who fear its independence. Guiding Lucía through the truth, she will help her connect with her mother's spirit and live in the beguinage with other women who, like her, long for a freedom that they cannot find outside. In her past, she loved intensely and had to overcome a traumatic breakup, but that passion is unleashed again, although this time she does not want to repress herself despite the danger of remaining in love with a clandestine and sinful love.
Sibila García (Melani Olivares): A distrustful, surviving and sensitive woman, who grew up in misery and prostitution. Pregnant, she decided to escape and found her place in the beguinage. Her biggest concern is her daughter and, even though she reproaches her for it, she will do everything possible to try to protect her. The succession of Lucrecia is disputed and she competes with Marie Anne for the position of Great Lady.
Guiomar Ruy (Ella Kweku): Nigua, an Antillean slave, was sold to a doctor from Seville who gave her her new name and educated her when he noticed the maid's innate curiosity. Beatriz García (Lucía Caraballo): Daughter of Sibila and one of the youngest of the beguinage. Innocent, happy and lively. Her sexuality is awakening and she enjoys her body with curiosity and without fear until life outside the walls pushes her to hide her most intimate impulses. Her freedom of thought and work contrasts with that of Lucía. She has a relationship with her mother that has ups and downs, but the love they have for each other is above all. Each has a lot to learn from the other.
Juana Aranda (Silma López): Daughter of Sancho, the owner of the workshop, and sister of Lebrín. She enjoys an independence that was uncommon at that time. She has chosen to enter the beguinage to avoid a bad marriage or ending up dependent on his brother. Intelligent, prudent and thorough. She is in love with Telmo, but wants to be reciprocated. He has such a noble heart that his love does not prevent him from empathizing with Lucía and helping Telmo when things go wrong.
Lebrín Aranda (Jonás Berami): Close friend of Telmo, son of Sancho, the owner of the bakery and the only brother of Juana, the beguine. Rogue, generous and lively, he knows how to live avoiding laws, rules and sins. He will use his best resources to try to save the Beguines from the Inquisition.
Rodrigo de Guzmán, Marquis of Peñarrosa (Javier Beltrán): He is Lucía's fiancé. Castilian nobleman, of ancient ancestry and fortune. He is very well connected and has negotiated with his future brother-in-law to settle his debts and open the doors to him in Court in exchange for this marriage. He loves Lucía, she seems to him the right woman to fulfill her role as marchioness. He is dutiful, splendid and traditional, but he does not hesitate to bring out his most sinister side when his commitment is threatened.
Munio de Avellaneda, Count of Vellaví (Jaime Olías): Lucía's brother and heir to the County, but also to the debts left by his father. He needs to recover privileges and fortune, and his sister's marriage is the perfect deal. Arrogant, irascible and proud. He is willing to do anything to save his lineage and keep up appearances.
Jimena Suárez de Córdoba (Meritxell Calvo): Munio's wife. Intelligent, frivolous and capricious. He hoped to live up to his condition, but the Avellanedas' fortune is in debt and the only thing that can solve it is his sister-in-law's wedding. She will do everything possible to help her husband achieve it. She likes to seduce, get the most out of life and cleverly circumvent the rigid rules that her lineage demands. She won't hesitate to play with fire when she meets Lebrín, a hummingbird who, like her, doesn't want to miss out on the pleasures that life offers.
Catalina (Laura Galán): Lucía's faithful maid. Affectionate, smiling, devout and superstitious, she is torn between loyalty to Lucía and fear of Munio. Lucía, her mistress, and the beguines, who will pay dearly for her ignorance. She will do everything possible to correct her mistakes and ease her conscience.
Lucrecia de Avellaneda (Elisabeth Gelabert): The Great Lady of the Beguinage. Daughter of its founder, Leonor Labrit and heir to her legacy for which she had to sacrifice her children, distancing them from her side. Married to Pedro de Avellaneda, who called her crazy, she took refuge in the beguinage where she served as Great Lady. Cultured and mystical, her life and death are surrounded by mystery.
Gabriela Grijalvo (Cristina Plazas): Widow of a renowned printer and mother of Gonzalo. Cultured and respected lady from Valladolid renounced her true love for fear of facing her son's rejection.
Gonzalo de Grijalvo (Ignacio Montes): Clergyman related to the beguinate. Intelligent, attractive and empathetic. She admires the Beguines for their devotion and devotion to those in need, but above all Guiomar, with whom he has great complicity.
Father Lasarte (Antonio Durán 'Morris'): A priest with pretensions, whose greatest ambition is to end the privileges of the beguinages and become part of the Court of the Inquisition. James Webb telescope produces an unparalleled view of the ghostly light in galaxy clusters
In clusters of galaxies there is a fraction of stars which wander off into intergalactic space because they are pulled out by huge tidal forces generated between the galaxies in the cluster. The light emitted by these stars is called the intracluster light (ICL) and is extremely faint. Its brightness is less than 1% of the brightness of the darkest sky we can observe from Earth. This is one reason why images taken from space are very valuable for analyzing it.
Infrared wavelengths allow us to explore clusters of galaxies in a different way than with visible light. Thanks to its efficiency at infrared wavelengths and the sharpness of the images of the JWST, IAC researchers Mireia Montes and Ignacio Trujillo have been able to explore the intracluster light from SMACS-J0723.3-7327 with an unprecedented level of detail. In fact the images from the JWST of the center of this cluster are twice as deep as the previous images obtained by the Hubble Space Telescope.
"In this study we show the great potential of JWST for observing an object which is so faint," explains Mireia Montes, the first author of the article. "This will let us study galaxy clusters which are much further away, and in much greater detail," she adds.
In order to analyze this extremely faint "ghostly" light, as well as needing the observational capability of the new space telescoope, the researchers have developed new analysis techniques, which improve on existing methods. "In this work we needed to do some extra processing to the JWST images to be able to study the intracluster light, as it is a faint and extended structure. That was key to avoid biases in our measurements," says Mireia. ...
