!!!! So far that's 3 updates this month! :D ONE's on a roll for xmas!

Aaaa OHMAN yeah, (Sonic gets a nice fight scene with his newly reclaimed ninja-leader weapons; looks like yup he's still getting targeted on their kill/harvest list just like Garou) the text-heavy lore part where Child Emperor finally confronts Bofoi directly (looks like he arrived before Genos!) about the robot invasion going on - to decide whether he's the culprit behind it all or if his tech's been stolen by the Organization, etc (what is the truth!! we're ever closer to solving this mystery...) and the longer they talk the more CE looks like he's about to snap and go full Mob Psycho on him - whoaa this is tense!

For all that vital information possibly revealed, we'll absolutely need the translation for sure!

The 1929 Birmingham City Directory

City directories are an invaluable resource in family history research. The most common usage is to follow a person in a particular location over a period of time. Directories may also contain several pages of facts and figures about the city. This information along with the classified ads is a historical snapshot of the city.

While skimming through the 1929 Birmingham City directory, I was surprised to see this image:

The Birmingham [Alabama] Post-Herald, 8 May 1929, p. 20, cols. 2-3.

I knew that city directories were a source of information about the local post office. It never crossed my mind that a postmaster would consider a city directory the “bible” of finding addresses for the post office.

After reading the above article I was curious as to how the directory was compiled. An earlier article regarding a survey of the inaccuracies found in the 1929 Birmingham City Directory gave me the answers.

An unnamed reporter for The Birmingham Post-Herald newspaper interviewed the only Polk Company official in Birmingham.  W. T. Teate, Polk Company superintendent of deliveries, provided details of the process involved in compiling the 1929 Birmingham City Directory.  According to Mr. Teate:

“Information is first taken by enumerators who go from door to door throughout the city taking the canvass. They ask a standard set of questions, ‘Who is head of the house?’ How do you spell his name?’ Is he married?’ ‘ What is his business?’ ‘Where is he employed?’ ‘Are there any children working?’ ‘Have you any roomers or boarders?’ This data is then brought to the office where it is compiled by expert directory men. At the same time other men are going to the various business houses getting lists of employes, their occupations and their home addresses. The business lists and the residence lists are then brought together and checked against each other, and against the previous year’s directory. If any name or address does not check, a man is dispatched to get the correct information. We kept two men working seven weeks on this work alone. Our work is directed by experienced men and we have field workers brought here during the survey, but find it necessary to employ some local help. The men thus employed are given a period of training in our office that extends for four days, during which they are shown our methods of gathering information. They are then sent out to the field.”
