This is how the ship was able to dock with the arms of Deep Space 9 station in “Caretaker”

You are correct on the first point. But that is not where the pylon touches the ship. Look again. It touches the ship just aft of the maneuvering thruster.

Day 11, Osaka. Our Intrepid group tour ends as we say goodbye to some of our fellow travelers. Great coconut americano coffee and breakfast at M&H Cafe. We subway and walk to Osaka Castle and then have a casual lunch at several food stalls in the central market. Barb and I go to BAK Brewery for craft beers. Indian food for dinner with Martha and Meg.
