#OTD in 1939 – Christmas Raid | The Irish Republican Army raided the Phoenix Park Magazine Fort.

“The Irish Guards were deeply touched to receive a letter from our Colonel, Her Royal Highness, The Princess of Wales this morning. We continue to wish Her Royal Highness well in her recovery and send Her our very best wishes.” Source.
Friendly reminder that the Irish struggle and the Palestinian struggle are directly interconnected and that if you celebrate your Irish heritage during st paddys without also bringing attention to the ongoing genocide and occupation in Palestine, you’re both a hypocrite and and asshole. Following the British occupation in Ireland, the black and tans (the military police force instated to keep the Irish in line following the “famine” and Irish rebellious sentiment) were sent to do the same thing in Palestine for the newly made Israel. Oppressors help other oppressors with tried and true methods of oppression. So yeah, this is a sign to unfollow me if you’re not for a free Palestine or if you are proud in your Irish heritage but still engage in acts of racism and oppression. You have donned the cloak of the oppressors and no longer have a right to claim that heritage. Ok thanks bye 🇵🇸❤️🇮🇪

Catherine, Princess of Wales meets personnel on exercise during her visit to the Irish Guards on Salisbury Plain, on March 8, 2023 in Salisbury, England. The Princess of Wales visited the 1st Battalion Irish Guards for the first time since becoming Colonel to learn about work on the Salisbury Plain Training Area.
On International Women’s Day, Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales made her first visit to the Irish Guards since becoming their Royal Colonel in December last year. The Irish Guards are under the command of Lieutenant Colonel James Aldridge who introduced the new royal regimental Colonel to the men and women of the Irish Guards in the snow swept fields of Salisbury Plain.
Despite sub-zero conditions and heavy snow on Salisbury Plain, the Irish Guards were chuffed to show their Royal Colonel some of their recent activities and operational duties across the world. These included counter poaching in East Africa to providing basic infantry training to Ukrainian recruits in the UK.
