i need more interactions between botw link and the gerudo like. riju and him go sand surfing every second weekend of the month and it's a whole thing for the town because that's their chief vs their favorite token hylian vai and no matter who wins, everyone's having a great time. or sometimes isha sends link home with more hydromelons than his sheikah slate can carry because in a land of scarcity, giving gifts is the language the gerudo choose to love in. and don't get me started on buliara who definitely has a rivalry thing going on with him based on who can protect riju the best; from a distance it looks like they hate each other, but really they would fight for each other as comrades. funnily enough, neither of them end up "doing better" at protecting riju — in the midst of their attempts to defend her from a molduga, she ends up electrocuting it three times on her own. and all link can feel is this vague sense of deja vu, like he's seen this display of raw power before.

Can Nabooru share some insight into Gerudo crafting, whether it be in the creation of their iconic jewelry, their weapons, or any other cultural artifacts? Is it for art purposes? Or spiritualism? Is there magic attached to these crafts? Would a Gerudo from Nabooru's era, and a Gerudo from, say, Riju's era agree on the purposes of the crafts?
Tumblr media
[As far as jewelry goes, like their makeup, I think it holds cultural significance to them. As in, they aren't just wearing it because it's pretty. The designs are all carefully crafted in such a way to display the intent of the piece, from establishing a Gerudo's rank to signifying their achievements among other details of their life, status, or position. The gemstones used are also carefully chosen and cut to complement the metal work. The gemstones have more metaphorical meanings than the metal work, often having meanings like loyalty, friendship, strength, protection, or pride attached to them. They may also be tied to certain members of the pantheon that a Gerudo wishes to honor.
I'm on the fence on whether the gemstones hold magical properties as they seem to in BotW/TotK or if the jeweler has special magic that places them there/awakens them. But, before these games came out, that wasn't a thing even for my HCs. I need to give that a little more consideration.
Weapons are probably similar, except that the more ornate/special made weapons are probably exclusively reserved for high-ranking Gerudo. The rest are probably using more standard made weapons that maybe has a gem or two inlaid in them for something like power or protection.
In short, weapon and jewelry craft is a meaningful craft in Gerudo society and culture. It as just as much artistic as it is spiritual. When it comes to the different eras, from Nabooru's to Riju's, I would like to hope that this practice maintains the same cultural significance in the BotW/TotK era, but I'm honestly not sure it does. While I have no doubt Isha takes pride in her work, it doesn't seem to hold any real cultural significance, and jewelry making has become more of a capitalistic venture over the Gerudo jewelers creating special pieces for the Gerudo to sport. While the Gerudo of Nabooru's time likely made jewelry to sell/trade as well, the special stuff was reserved for Gerudo wearers.
As for weapons, this is probably a little more similar, since we see Urbosa and Riju sporting custom weaponry likely made for them. It may not have the same meaning to it, but I think that practice is still in play.]

👑 - favourite zelda?
💕 - biggest zelda crush(es)?
🗡️ - favourite link?
botw Zelda, I love her and her arc more than anything and every time someone is mean about her I only love her more. Specifically in botw, in totk she kinda gets turned into the perfect princess sacrificial lamb again and I'm not hyped for it.
Urbosa (I am SO normal about her), Isha is also super pretty (the gerudo jewelry maker) Link (when properly shot with the trans gun) and I'm almost certain that tp Zelda in ssbb awakened something within me lmao.
I haven't hid it very well, all my writing and art and everything has centered around them for a while, totk/botw Link I love you

chain link fences nickname list + reasons (wip)
*starlight (botw link) - his name is actually signed 'star fragment', representing his adventurous, questing nature. he thrives in the wild, and he's rare and lucky himself, like a star fragment. he's also one of the few people who manages to find star fragments, so isha especially loves using that name. when spoken, however, it's a little awkward, so it gets changed to starlight. it is also a reference to how botw opens (zelda says 'you are the light, our light that must shine on hyrule once again'. but i didn't want to just call him light lol)
*archive (botw zelda) - this is mostly a placeholder while i think abt it, but. she likes history and research and documenting stuff :-) also she's a woman out of time, going from her life 100 years ago to now
*charm, captain (hyrule warriors link) - he is handsome and charming :) need i say more
*grace (hyrule warriors zelda) - she is lovely and graceful :) also sounds cute with charm
*bee (alttp, oracle games) - he is a busy adventurer (a busy bee, if you will) (also an affectionate nod to therunawayguys' alttp playthrough, where emile called it the 'bee-percent run'. this was my first introduction to alttp)
*cloud (skyward sword link) - a) he's a daydreamer (head in the clouds) b) he literally lives in the clouds. the links are very creative
-his sign name is actually 'sleepyhead', a gift from zelda in their youth
*sunshine (sws zelda) - sunshine was the sign name link gave her as kids, but it became especially fitting with the whole hylia deal, yanno?
*twilight / farmboy (tp link) - i could not come up with anything else. if i change my mind, y'all'll know. also thank u rar for farmboy <3
*tune (ww link) - a pun on 'toon link', but also refers to the musical nature of him playing the winds. there is no formal sign language on the great sea, but the folks on outset made a rudimentary version for him; aryll has always called him big brother, both speaking and in their sign
*tetra (ww zelda) - y'all know why
*fay / sprite (oot link) - malon calls him fairy boy. she is the only one allowed to do so. 'sprite' is technically mm link, and what charm called him during the war (but i haven't played mm or hw yet)
*wimple (oot zelda) - this is her sign name. i'm working on another nickname, but this works for now
*hazel (loz1+2 link) - hazel is a durable, resilient wood that can grow even under less-than-ideal circumstances. seemed a cute name (i'm still working on their character development)
*honey (albw, tfh, la link) - this was mostly a joke to parallel bee. just kinda stuck tho
*clover (minish cap link) - partly due to that art of him with the minish under the clovers, partly because four-leaf clovers are lucky. idk i just liked it
*fortune (minish cap zelda) - goes along with the lucky nature of link
*hex (loz cdi link) - this is a JOKE like yes he will actually show up, at least in paint chips, but still
*jinx (loz cdi zelda) - again, JOKE. but coordinated name with hex :)
*prism (fsa link) - i have thoughts abt fsa but i'll have to go rewatch trg play it. he won't come into play for a while anyway but
i'm still working out a lot of stuff, but here's a start :-)

or Maybe...her?
So let me offer another look at who the Mystery Person could be...just to be fair.
Tumblr media
Let us consider if this person is a Gerudo. Make a note of the gold lining of the collar...look familiar?
Tumblr media
pay attention to this picture because it’s not just the collar that is important.
Tumblr media
The diadem on Urbosa has a similar design and center piece to that of our Mystery Villian. Something worth pointing out is that in Gerudo culture, throughout Zelda history, a diadem with a jewel as a center piece is only worn by Gerudo of high rank.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
if you look throughout BOTW, no Gerudo wears a diadem with a central jewel minus...
Tumblr media
Note that Riju has the same collar design that Urbosa and Mystery Person has on their respective collars.
There is one character that I don’t know how they work because low-key I don’t think is a regular Gerudo. Isha ie Jewel
Tumblr media
1. Has a diadem but with two central jewels
2. The only Gerudo in BOTW outside of Riju and Ubrosa is the only Gerudo who wears a skirt
3. While not a collar embellishment, her belt looks like the golden collar Mystery Person had on his cape, the one on Riju’s collar, and Urbosa’s collar that I pointed out earlier
3. Her hair accessory looks eerily like the Gerudo crown.
But I digress.
What am I trying to say? If the Mystery Person is in fact a Gerudo (which they very well maybe), I think it would be safe to say that they were someone of High Rank judging from the diadem with a central jewel and the golden collar embellishment that we have only seen on High Status Gerudo.

Imagine the bonus Links dressing up to go to Slates Gerudo town!
Mini doesnt want to wear the outfit and they tell him its okay and he can stay outside with the Pirate, but he finds a Minish pot and shrinks down to go in on Mages hat. He wears a ring as a crown and feel pretty
Wake stays outside and flirts with the guards, eventually when they get off shift they play cards with him and they play for jewelry. They end up trading some pirate and Gerudo jewelry. He tells them about his sister and they get all gushy and give him some slippers to send her. He gives them a map of the sea and they tell him he's pretty cool for a Voe.
Mirror tries to give the Gerudo advice on fashion. He's about to get crunched until a Gerudo woman challenges him on his makeup skills. He ends up earning the same type of respect that one might get by drinking everyone under the table, but he does it by making and demonstrating an amazing level of makeup skill that slaps. He still gets flipped when he goes in for a friendly handshake. Theres laughter and he's accepted.
Bonus: Twi and slate are the only ones they believe are Vai from the start.
Extra bonus: Mage wearing so many sparkly baubles to accessorize that he makes glitter glare all over the sand and walls
Triple bonus: Mini talking to the sandseals and they just tell him puns.
ahh thank u this is so fun!!! mini wearing a ring as a crown so cute 😩I bet the sandseals know killer puns

Isha BOTW oc
Family: No known living members, but she goes to the researchers (Purah, Symin, Robbie and Jerrin) for emotional support, advice and when she's in desperate need of something such as a temporary place to stay, so she feels like they're her family, so I'm listing them.
Age: 19
Job: None, really? I mean, she can get some money from doing things like selling stuff she finds, making things for people such as clothing or blankets (ect) or drawing/painting/writing for them, but she doesn't have an official job?
Hobbies: Crafting, such as making clothes, objects, furniture, ect, arts such as drawing, painting and writing, 'adventuring', but she really only does so to find things for what she really loves-
Research.
She'll go out looking for anything that can be studied that has anything to do with ancient tech and Ganon. She just ends up having to go to a lot of places, fight a bunch of monsters as a result and finds a lot of items that she can sell when she's in need of money while traveling.
Health: Well, since I doubt Hyrule is very medically advanced (aside from the shrine of resurrection), she has some undiagnosed issues. Which I'm gonna say is Celiac disease. Which means I'll give her some things that I had before I was diagnosed:
Almost always being hungry, so eating a lot of filling foods or stuff with a high amount of calories (seriously, I didn't start gaining weight when I was younger until my mom allowed me to go overboard with junk food and bad drinks for a few years)
Frequently nauseous
Headaches after eating too much gluten, but she can't tell that gluten is the cause
Oof, a lot of stomach problems
Easily injured (such as weak bones that lead to getting easy bone related injuries)
Fatigue! Yet the poor girl still has to push herself to get the stuff she wants done.
Mentality:
Not so good. Struggles with some depression and the occasional suicidal thought (or even plans, but something always happens to interrupt her before she can put her plans into action)
Hates:
Yiga clan
Ganon
Guardians
Malice (as in the goopy stuff everywhere, not just the intention to do evil or anything. Just the physical stuff that came from Ganon's power)
Likes:
Learning
Research
Her hobbies that I previously listed
Food
Sweets
Cooking
Warmth
The researchers that she considers family
Link (not in the romantic way, but I'm not gonna discourage any shippers. Just in canon, she has no romantic feelings for him, but you guys can do whatever you want) because his main goal is to save Zelda and put a stop to Ganon.
Location: She doesn't really live anywhere. She travels a lot, so she sleeps in a tent unless she can stay at an inn or one of the research labs.
Is she a Sheikah: no. I just feel like that question might come up because of the 'hate the yiga' (Sheikah members that turned against the royal family) and 'research the Sheikah's ancient tech' stuff (since the only one outside of the Sheikah that I've seen study that stuff is just Zelda and maybe Zelda's mother)
But that's not gonna stop some in universe people from mistaking her as a Sheikah since she hangs around the Sheikah researchers a lot and frequently visits Kakariko village ╮(─▽─)╭
Anyways, that's all for now.
