Mr. Doran said her killing was “the reason sex work should be decriminalized.” The murder of anyone is a tragedy but of course a man is using this as a reason to make it legal to exploit women and girls.

Koko Da Doll, who was featured in “Kokomo City,” a documentary about four Black transgender sex workers that won awards at the Sundance Film Festival this year, was fatally shot in Atlanta on Tuesday, the film’s director said.
Koko Da Doll, 35, whose name was Rasheeda Williams, “was the latest victim of violence against Black transgender women,” the director, D. Smith, said in a statement.
“I created ‘Kokomo City’ because I wanted to show the fun, humanized, natural side of Black trans women,” Ms. Smith said. “I wanted to create images that didn’t show the trauma or the statistics of murder of transgender lives. I wanted to create something fresh and inspiring. I did that. We did that! But here we are again.”
The Atlanta Police Department said that it was actively investigating three violent crimes against transgender women this year — the fatal shooting on Tuesday, another fatal shooting on April 11 and a shooting that critically injured a female victim in January.
“While these individual incidents are unrelated, we are very aware of the epidemic-level violence Black and Brown transgender women face in America,” the department said in a statement.
The department said it was exploring the possibility that the shootings were motivated by hate.
But it added: “In these cases, our investigators have not found any indication the victim was targeted for being transgender or a member of the L.G.B.T.Q.+ community, and these cases do not appear to be random acts of violence.”
The police did not release the name of the victim in Tuesday’s killing, and an investigator at the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office said on Friday that the victim’s family had asked that the name not be released.
The police asked for the public’s help in identifying a person who was seen on surveillance footage. A brief video clip released by the Atlanta Police Department showed a person wearing a football-style jersey with No. 2 on the front walking through a parking lot and up the stairs outside a house at night.
The Human Rights Campaign said that at least 10 transgender or gender nonconforming people have been killed in the United States this year, although many of the deaths are not reported or are misreported.
Since 2013, a total of 19 transgender or gender-nonconforming people have been killed in Georgia, the organization said, and nine of those killings occurred in Atlanta.
Ms. Williams starred in “Kokomo City,” along with Liyah Mitchell, Dominque Silver and Daniella Carter. The film, which was shot in black and white, was praised by critics for its frank exploration of themes of labor, race, gender, beauty and sex, and it won the NEXT Innovator Award and Audience Award: NEXT at Sundance.
Harris Doran, a producer of “Kokomo City,” said he was grief-stricken and, “To know Koko, was to love Koko.”
“She was the sweetest, kindest and gentlest soul,” he said on Instagram, adding: “Koko was working so hard to get out. She is brilliant in the film and when you see it, you will fall in love with her just as we all have.”
Mr. Doran said her killing was “the reason sex work should be decriminalized.”
“Sex work is work,” he said. “If it were not made illegal for purely puritanical reasons, then it could be regulated and women like Koko could be protected.”
The Sundance Film Festival said on Twitter that it was honored that Koko Da Doll had attended the festival, “where she reminded Black trans women, ‘We can do anything, we can be whatever we want to be.’”

longtime dc fan and i think a lot of people are angry because alex is obviously one of the most culturally relevant instances of misogyny in media. that being said being more culturally relevant doesn’t mean it’s the worst instance of misogyny and i think bumble definitely experiences more profound misogyny in the way the actual content is presented, if that makes sense
I get you, and that's a charitable way of looking at it.
I think what's rustling my jimmies is that like, there was a couple of WC fans being mildly dismissive of Alex in that note minefield, after dozens of comments of "fuck you how could you let the fridge woman lose" and "Bumble didn't deserve to win ANY rounds" and "how could A CAT experience misogyny." But then WE get blamed for the toxicity because THEY were butthurt that the Funny Cat People have the 'audacity' to win something they feel entitled to.
Like, we've gotta be endlessly charitable as we get openly insulted because they're upset about Alex losing, a very well-known and culturally relevant character with a legacy so massive we have a whole term named after her. But condemnations of "She's just a cat, letting WC into this poll was a mistake, Bumble can't even be a victim of misogyny" only started coming around once I started talking about it.
as if it's OUR fault people got passive-aggressive or even OPENLY aggressive towards us, and that we're "just as bad" for retaliating
But like you said, it's not a "Most Culturally Relevant Misogyny" tournament, it's a "Canon Misogyny Victims" tournament. And you're not even supposed to give a shit that Bumble died. The fat, woman abuse victim is beaten to death by a dictator, and your takeaway is meant to be, "It's so sad that Clear Sky is being blamed for murdering her, now they're all preparing for self-defense against a homicidal maniac, oh nooo :("
And I think that DOES make her deserve the win here! Alex is a MARTYR. Everyone with a brain agrees what happens to her is bad. It happened in her canon because it was bad. We talk about her and keep her memory alive. Bumble gets dismissed entirely out of hand because she's "just a cat in a kid's book" as if that doesn't make it worse, and as if the kid's book didn't treat a domestic abuse survivor like a moron for even asking for help.
Anyway, just to reiterate, I love DC fans. It's not all of you guys. Alex was done dirty and deserves justice-- and it's even kind of a shame that all she became is "The Fridge Woman." I haven't even heard people talk about how she was a wary, responsible person who was still ready to rock with Kyle's new weird glowstick powers, or that she was a journalist, or that she just got brought back in another edition as a Green Lantern only to be revealed as an illusion and re-absorbed back into Kyle's mind. Nope. Even her fans just remember her as The Fridge Woman.

She's only 21 and she's already planning on using multiple women for vanity surrogacies?
JoJo Siwa recently shared her plans to become a mother of three children with the help of surrogacy. The 21-year-old singer and former Dance Moms star revealed that she wants to have three babies carried and delivered by three different surrogates. This decision is due to JoJo being gay and needing to plan her pregnancy differently than a straight person.
In a video posted by Cosmopolitan, JoJo explained that she intends to fertilize three eggs and have three surrogates carry them. This way, the babies will all be from the same batch but born separately. She even mentioned that she hopes their birthdays will land on different days so they can be like triplets, but not exactly.
JoJo has already picked out names for her future children, a baby girl named Freddie and twin boys named Eddy and Teddy. She even has a sperm donor lined up and is ready to start the process, although she acknowledges that she needs to be patient and wait a few years.
The singer emphasized that she makes it clear to her partners early on that she plans to have three children with specific names. JoJo expressed her excitement about welcoming her future kids, referring to them as her “nuggets” and stating that nothing comes before them.
Aside from her surrogacy plans, JoJo Siwa has undergone a significant transformation from her early days as a child star to her current status as a pop icon. She has achieved various milestones throughout her career, from winning awards to giving back to the community.
JoJo has also been open about her personal life, coming out as gay and celebrating Pride with her girlfriend. Her journey in the entertainment industry reflects her growth and evolution as an artist and individual.
As JoJo continues to pursue her dreams of motherhood and musical success, fans can expect to see more of her inspiring story unfold in the years to come. Her courage and authenticity serve as a reminder that it’s essential to stay true to oneself and follow your heart, no matter the challenges that may arise.
"Not only that, but she rehearsed her new choreography with her new girlfriend and professional dancer, Madison Rouge Alavarado. The two were even seen kissing outside of LAX on May 30."
