K-dramas are a bit notorious for featuring male leads who start out as cold and rich bad boys, but end up changing after falling in love. Let’s be real — guys who are genuinely good from the beginning are so much more attractive. Thankfully, recent K-dramas have kept up with the trend of having more good guys and making them super appealing. Check out some recent good guys you’ll fall in love with below!

Ki Seon-gyeom from Run On

Run On’s track star Ki Seon-gyeom (Im Si-wan) appears to be a bit socially awkward at first, but he’s cute once you get to know him. Seon-gyeom is caring and makes his feelings for Oh Mi-joo (Shin Se-kyung) obvious. In addition to his swoon-worthy words and actions, Seon-gyeom doesn’t hesitate to make the difficult decision to stand up for Kim Woo-sik (Lee Jeong-ha). Seon-gyeom often places other people’s needs before his own, and he sticks to his convictions.

Han Ji-pyeong from Start-Up

Start-Up’s Han Ji-pyeong (Kim Seon-ho) could easily be misunderstood as a typical cold male lead. However, he’s truly a good guy in every way. Ji-pyeong isn’t aware of his growing feelings for Seo Dal-mi (Bae Suzy) at first, but he’s always looking out for her. Even after realizing his feelings for her, he never burdens Dal-mi and doesn’t make her uncomfortable. His sweet relationship with Dal-mi’s grandmother is so precious as well. His nickname is definitely “Good Boy” for a reason!

Nam Do-san from Start-Up

Nam Do-san (Nam Joo-hyuk) was also a very good boy! While he struggled about the truth behind the letters, Do-san always does his best to help Dal-mi. How adorable was Do-san when he gifted Dal-mi’s grandmother with his hand-knit RGB-colored dish sponges? Furthermore, he even developed a brand new app to help her visually impaired grandmother. A good boy not only takes care of you, he takes care of your grandmother too!

Sa Hye-jun from Record of Youth

Record of Youth’s Sa Hye-jun (Park Bo-gum) is such a pure character despite his difficult circumstances and the industry he works in. Hye-jun is very loyal and trusts the people around him. Even though his best friend Won Hae-hyo (Byeon Woo-seok) is more successful than him at first, Hye-jun doesn’t get envious and feels truly happy for his friend instead. As a celebrity, public scrutiny should be a concern, but Hye-jun always cares more about the people he loves than what the public thinks of him. He just might be an angel in disguise.

Moon Gang-tae from It’s Okay to Not Be Okay

It's Okay to Not Be Okay’s Moon Gang-tae (Kim Soo-hyun) is another studly and empathetic character. He started taking care of his older brother from a young age, and gently cares for his patients. When Ko Mun-yeong (Seo Yea-ji) is intent on harming a patient, Gang-tae blocks her knife with his own hand. Even when Mun-yeong's romantic obsession with him gets annoying, Gang-tae still takes care of her and helps her heal. He’s also thoughtful and careful not to lead Nam Ju-ri (Park Gyu-young) on. 

Cha Eun-ho from Romance is a Bonus Book

Romance Is a Bonus Book features Cha Eun-ho (Lee Jong-suk) as an accomplished writer and chief editor who has been in love with his long-time friend Kang Dan-i (Lee Na-young). Eun-ho eagerly helps Dan-i every way he can after she has nowhere to go, following her divorce and eviction. He’s her biggest cheerleader and supports her efforts to re-start her career and life. The way he embraces her with open arms not seeking anything in return is clearly a good guy trait. 

Park Saeroyi from Itaewon Class

Itaewon Class’s Park Saeroyi (Park Seo-jun) has such a good heart even though the world, especially Jangga Group, has not been kind to him. After being wrongfully expelled and convicted, Saeoryi does have revenge on his mind. However, he goes about it the wholesome way and seeks to establish a business more successful than Jangga Group. He’s truly kind and gives marginalized people a second chance. Saeroyi’s father undeniably taught him well.

Balas Dendam Paling Elegan

Berhubung banyak yang review positif sama drakor ini, saya coba tonton Itaewon Class. Dan gimana tun?

Hmm.. Ada sedikit kesamaan sama motivasi diri sendiri. Saat nonton dan setelahnya, saya mikiiir banget. Saya cerita dulu kesamaannya.

Dulu, saat awal kuliah saya pernah di posisi sakit hati karna "diinjak" oleh kata-kata seorang teman di jurusan, yang sebetulnya saat itu kenal pun enggak karna baru ospek. Yang intinya adalah meremehkan. Empat tahun kenal, dan saya mencoba mengatur gemuruh sakit hati itu, hahaha rapih emang kalo soal menyembunyikan sesuatu mah. Dan pernah juga merasa sakit hati oleh beberapa teman pas direndahin karna golongan miskin alias anak Bidikmisi. Lucu memang hidup ini. Beberapa orang cuma menilai Bidikmisi itu beasiswa bagi si miskin, bukan beasiswa bagi si prestasi. Menganggap bahwa kita benalu. Tapi saya dan teman-teman senasib berusaha sabar, gak pernah berani macem-macem. Bukan karna gak punya nyali buat melawan, tapi saya sendiri punya cara lain untuk membalas. Waktu itu saya cuma nulis dan saya yakini dalam hati, bukan hari ini, jangan hari ini. Sabar, kamu kuat. Selalu kencangkan sabuk yang kuat, tujuan saya di sini, kuliah tepat waktu karna negara yang bayarin. Dan saya punya utang budi sama negara. Ok sip, ok skip. Btw, makasih loh sama Pak SBY berjasa banget di jaman saya. Hehe.

Lalu kemarin, dia (yang tak ingin kusebut namanya, haha canda candaaa) datang untuk minta bantuan. Boro-boro ngobrol, komunikasi di WA pun belum pernah.

Saya cerita ke ibu tentang orang ini dan saya bilang (sambil tarik napas, karna sakit hati itu sangat sangat susah hilangnya gaes), "kalau saya gak dididik dgn baik sama Mamah, mana mau bantu orang yang pernah nyakitin hati, cuekin aja, blokir sekalian. Tapi sayangnya selama ini Atun gak dididik gitu sama Mamah, Allah juga gak akan suka kalo Atun balas dgn cara yg Atun mau. Ah gimana sih Mah, gagal kan mau balas dendam hahaha"

Kata ibu yang buat saya tenang seketika dan merasa malu, syukur kalo kamu udah bisa berpikiran gitu, pembalasan terbaik atas perilaku orang lain yang menyakiti kita itu cuma ada satu cara buat balasnya, berbuat baik.

Jawaban itu nambah kekuatan banget. Sekarang ada yang nyakitin hati selalu nyoba nguatin hati, yuk balas sama hal baik apa ya.. (wooo ini tak mudah sodaraa)

Sampai pas nonton episode demi episode Itaewon Class ini, saya nangis sesenggukan. Haha aduh lebay sih. Ya, sakit hati meluap lagi. Muncul kembali setelah bertahun-tahun reda. Tapi untuk kali ini, merasa plong. Banyak pelajaran baru yg saya dapet dari drama ini.

Kau tak perlu meyakinkan orang lain soal siapa dirimu. Ya kata ini nancep banget. Iya ya, ngapain juga kita butuh pengakuan dari orang. Toh mau kita miskin atau kaya, orang gak pengen tahu prosesnya. Dan orang hanya tahu akhir dan hasil. Gak perlu juga memperlihatkan ketar ketirnya kita kaya apa di masa berjuang. Toh tiap hari juga buat saya adalah hari-hari perjuangan.

Aku tak mau goyah oleh siapapun atau situasi apapun. Aku ingin membuat keputusan sendiri dalam hidupku. Iya kadang, eh sering sih. Keputusan yang kita ambil, atas dasar orang lain. Gengsi, menuruti apa kata orang, ikut-ikutan, dsb. Bukan atas kemauan diri sendiri. Tumbang sebelum menang. Beda ya tolong tun, antara pasrah dengan menyerah. Seringnya kita menempatkan menyerah di awal.

Dan dari drama ini juga saya bisa lihat sosok dua Ayah yang berbeda karakter dan cara mendidik anak-anaknya yang beda 180°. Hasil didikan Ayah yang luar biasa akan menghasilkan anak yang luar biasa juga. Dan didikan yang salah, tentu akan menerima akibatnya. Banyak belajar juga gimana harusnya jadi orangtua yang bener, yang bisa menumbuhkan prinsip anaknya, membantu kepercayaan diri anaknya, dan saling bangga baik sebagai Ayah ataupun anak. Luar biasa banget pelajarannya. Calon Ayah dan Ayah cik sok naronton gera.

Perjuangan Park Saeroyi dari kedai kecil dan akhirnya jadi waralaba dan jadi bisnis makanan nomor 1 di Korea Selatan. Wah keren lah gila gilaaa! Yang lagi butuh semangat kudu nonton deh. Perhatiin deh, ah ini mah semuanya berjuang, tiap peran di drama ini memperjuangkan apa yang jadi tujuan masing-masing.

Ya begitulah harusnya balas dendam paling elegan. Tanpa perlu banyak tenaga untuk melawan. Mohon maaaaf banget sama teman-teman yang selama kenal sama saya dan banyak tersakiti. Gak dipungkiri kita sering gak sadar sedang melukai hati orang. Sekali lagi, mohon maaf. Mari hidup tenang dan damai. Lalu, jadi hikmah bersama.
