I have a group of therapist friends I meet up with every month to discuss Therapy Things, and for several months now we've spent the entire meeting talking about how hard it is to be a therapist right now and how helpless we feel with the Everything going on, but when one friend texted today and suggested we go to a protest that's at the same time as our next meeting, no one but me responded

these are all people who share the cute social justice graphics on their instagram stories and criticize well-meaning people around them when they don't use the Most Correct Language, but when invited to actually do something they shy away from the opportunity and can't even bring themselves to reply no thank you because being an "activist" has become such a huge part of their identity and they don't want to confront the fact that maybe that's not as true as they thought it was. because real activism goes beyond sharing posts on instagram and talking in echo chambers. meaningful activism isn't that easy, and it certainly isn't that comfortable

virtue signaling helps no one but your ego, and sitting and complaining in echo chambers doesn't help anyone, it only feeds your paralysis

find out what people in your community are doing !!! ask organizers what they are doing to make protests accessible !!!! get to know your neighbors, especially any that live alone !!!! wear a fucking mask in the grocery store !!!!! keep some cash on you to give to homeless people when you see them, or offer to buy them something if they're outside a store !!!! pick up trash you see on your little mental health walks !!!!

Do !!! Something !!!! Tangible !!!!!! you will feel better, you will feel less helpless, and the world will be better for it

Stop bc shifting has become like sort of a hobbies yk? I love to do it and im homeschooled and my parents work a lot and stuff and there busy so i normally don't go out and do a lot of stuff. So when someone asks me my hobbies i can't necessarily tell them that i love shifting and traveling the universe to different dimensions where i can be a baker or a celebrity. Does anyone else have this problem? 😭😭
