My 30 Platinum Challenge Failed but Still Got 7
I had decided to make September a 30 day challenge month. This year I decided to try for the 30 Platinum Trophy challenge. Which is an attempt to unlock 30 platinum trophies within 30 days. And I failed it without even getting one third of the way through.
My guess is it's mostly the games I chose to play for this challenge combined with my ever busy schedule and lack of free time or energy.
At the start of the challenge I popped in Jak and Daxter the Precursor Legacy. A simple platform game developed by Naughty Dog (who you may know as those guys that made the mushroom zombie game). It took me about a week to 100% it and it was then and there I realized I should pick smaller games that take less hours to 100%.
So my next game was Daxter which I breezed through within three days. I think it was a nice preview into Jak 2, which I started but decided to shelf because Naughty Dog is well known to make challenging games. I guess as part of the "no fun allowed" that one guy said was policy in the company or something. Idk, it's been a long while since I heard the actual quote and I got tired of Jak games so I moved on.
Around the time those two games were done, Sly Cooper dropped a PS4 version so of course I had to complete that game. It wasn't as fast as the original PS3 Collection version but that's because the Collection version gave trophies for completing levels instead of offering unique methods like how the PS4 version went.
After that it was Miles Morales to compliment the Spider-man trophy. I thought Miles was going to be a relatively short game based on what I heard about it but I spent far too much time on this game. Particularly because of the New Game Plus trophy. That proved to be a pain in the ass with how little free time I had for the game to begin with.
Although, it was comical how often Miles Morales would glitch and bug out every now and then. One minute several icons stayed on screen even during cutscenes and later the audio for a character would shut off completely. I was legit concerned I wouldn't get the platinum because of the frequent bugs but the trophy popped so all was good.
I then set out on Ty the Tasmanian Tiger. A childhood classic I played on the Gamecube now purchased as a digital copy via giftcard. Lots of hoops for this one.
Another platformer that wasn't too much of a pain and went by alright. Hell of a long credits though.
There was a sudden urge to play Infamous after that so I nabbed First Light and took that platinum within a few days. Fetch was a somewhat interesting character to play but the bright flashes from the powers disagreed with my eyes.
Which made playing the original with Cole an odd choice. You'd think I'd want something less sparky, easy on the eyes, and didn't take all my time to complete.
Well, I was at the end of the month at this point and already decided I failed the challenge. So may as well play a game I really enjoyed. I remember getting the platinum before but since I had to get a new PS3 I had to redo the platinum all over again. Fun.
For the most part it wasn't that bad. Majority of the trophies were morality based so doing two playthroughs unlocked basically half the trophies. The hardcore trophy had me set the game to hard difficulty which was as easy as well easy with the evil Cole playthrough. Evil Cole did massive damage which made breezing through hard mode so much better especially since I didn't have to be concerned about bystanders.
The biggest pain in Infamous was the blast shards. OMG, the blast shards were impossible to find! I ran across all three islands multiple times, zig-zag, horizontal, vertical, and in literal circles in and outward spirals just to find the 30 I had left. It's always most difficult to find the small numbers since they're always in the last place you look. Mainly because there's nowhere else to look after that. Why is that a saying in the first place? Seems like a logical conclusion stating the obvious like an asshole.
Annoying collectables aside...
That was seven platinum trophies I earned in this 30 day challenge that I failed. I had a lot of fun with it and would like to do another 30 day challenge like this next year. However, I think I would pick easier games to play so I'm not stressing on time for this.

Day 1: How did you discover Jak and Daxter? I have to think back on this one... I know it was back in 'around '06, so either 8th grade or my freshman year of high school. My oldest brother rented Jak X from Hollywood Video because he thought it looked like a fun shooty-racing game. (It's titled 'Combat Racing' it was right up his alley) While playing he decided he liked the characters and story enough, and realized there were 3 other games in the series before. So he bought copies of each game, and the rest is history. I don't remember specifically how I got into the games. Either I saw my brother playing one of them and said, "This looks like fun, I wanna play!" or while I was playing Jak X with him it came up that there were more games with story for these characters that I knew nothing about and started playing that way. Either way, I almost instantly fell in love with the games, and here we are 15 years later. Jak and Daxter quickly became Our Thing for me and my oldest brother. We spent so many weekend nights playing Jak X in the basement until the wee hours of the morning. I have a very distinct memory of getting a piece of music in concert band, where there was a bit in my part that I thought sounded very similar to the Haven City music from Jak 2. I remember being very excited about that. I wish I could remember what that piece was and give it a listen again, just to see if it really did sound similar, or if I was just a mildly-obsessed teenager. Jak and Daxter 30 Day Challenge

Jak and Daxter 30 Day Challenge:
Question #10: Do you believe Jak is the Mar?
I fucking don’t.

Aside from the...unfortunate implications that Jak is his own ancestor, I feel like Jak would not be the type of person to go back in time, abandoning his friends to go off and have adventures. I mean, that was his entire character arc in Jak 2. He went from this:
to this:
in the span of the game.
Also, none of the damned statues look like him.
(I prefer the idea that the Warrior from TPL is actually Mar.)

Jak and Daxter 30 Day Challenge!
Q5: Who is my least favorite character?
It’s pretty obvious to everybody since he is the most hated character ever, but I’m gonna go with Count Vinegar.
youtube
Shut up, bastard, no one asked you.
Where do I start with this guy? He banished Jak to the wastelands for letting Haven City get attacked by Metal Heads, he is obsessed with Precursors and wants their powers, and he mocks Jak for not knowing his father and Damas not knowing his son, right after Damas died in Jak’s arms! Honestly, I wish Jak would have killed Vegar after Vegar mocks the poor boy instead of just turning into an ottsel! Hopefully Kleiver ate Vegar for good cause he didn’t appear in Jak X.

30-Day Video Game Music Challenge
Day 22: Town/Village music
Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy - Sandover Village
youtube
ok gotta admit, i struggled A LOT with this day. most of the games i know dont have towns or cities, and the ones that have ive already used them in the challenge sooo
playing this trilogy you can feel when naughty dog ended its 90′s wacky mascot era and turned into open worlds and mature AAA titles. this silent-now-edgy guy and its annoying sidekick were the bomb on ps2 but were so surpassed by ratchet & clank in the great scheme of things... their games were amazing but they feel so forgotten now
also ambient music at its purest
--- o ---
Honorable Mention: Azalea Town/Blackthorn City from Pokémon Gold and Silver
also have to confess i had another song in mind first but i thought it was too gimmicky for the day so i scrapped the idea jsjjsj but im still wanna mention it bc this game its such a touching experience and clearly deserves more recognition
World's Smallest Ferris Wheel from To the Moon

BAR’s PS5 screenshots 11-3-2022: I took these ten screenshots of The Jak 3 PS4 version on my PS5 console 5 days, and I have just beaten that game again for the fourth time yesterday on my PS5 Console, which is why I wanted to post and share my ten pics of proudest moments in Jak 3 on Instagram and Tumblr after I had finished playing Jak 3, and I’m off to play Jak X Combat Racing, and because that Jak and Daxter Racing Game never got any official remaster releases on PS3 or PSVITA before getting a PS4 version later on (which I now have on my PS5 console too of course), I’m gonna take some pictures of my favorite moments in Jak X Combat Racing too both some gameplay pictures and some cutscene pictures too, and while I’ve definitely become aware of J&D Fans pointing out how Jak 2 really was back in the day, I’ve already experienced the challenging and sometimes frustrating difficulty experience of Jak 2 to realize that it indeed a lot more difficult than I remember but also I lot easier when I had to recollect Orbs in Jak 2 Hero Mode to re-unlock the Invulnerability cheat for 30 orbs surprisingly made it more fun being in that God Like Mode stylistically of course. But of course looking back on that one Cutscene where Jak had rejected Ashelin’s offer to come back to Heaven City being confusingly out of character despite winding up traveling back to Haven City at the beginning of Act 2 later on, I started to theorize that Jak rejecting Ashelin’s Haven City comeback offer cutscene and theorize three reasonable points to why Jak told Ashelin that Haven City could rot for all he cared, Jak had a Troubled and Enduring Childhood in Haven City, he was unjustly arrested by Errol and used by him and Baron Praxis to be tortured and experimented on to become a weapon of war, and he was banished by the whole city to die in the wasteland. At least that’s my J&D Fan Theory of course, and I hope you folks like it. #gamepics #jak3 #ps4 #ps5console #jakanddaxter (at Los Angeles, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CkhPkjnJaI5/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Jak and Daxter 30 Day Challenge:
Question 4: Who is your favorite character?
I’m sure it’s a predictable pick but I'm gonna say, Daxter.

I've already talked about how awesome of a friend he really is to Jak, but, I'm gonna say it again anyway:
I believe Daxter helped Jak a lot in all of the shit he went through in the trilogy, and I don't mean that in just helping him get through objectives. It took him two years, but he eventually rescued Jak from prison. Even after seeing Jak transform into his dark form he doesn't run away from him, and if anything, he seems to enjoy staying on Jak's shoulder while he's in it to the point of mimicking the snarling facial expression.
He's never really abandoned or mistreated Jak, never saw him as a means to an end, and has never shown any ill will towards him despite him being the indirect cause of him being transformed into an ottsel.
Daxter's willingness to put his cowardice aside enough for someone else when it matters doesn't only stop at Jak, too. Say what you want about Daxter somehow forgetting that Jak was in prison until the last minute(seriously what the hell)in his midquel game, but it was nice to see that he really does care about other people when they have shown him the respect most normally don't give him.
And even though he can get a little bit annoying in the first game at times(but you can turn off his commentary/hints in the game if you want to anyway), I think he's a genuinely funny character. I like that he really is his own character outside of just serving as the Disney-esque comedic animal sidekick type that was so very common in the 90s and early 2000s. His more perverted traits he leaned more towards after the first game doesn't even really make me cringe even now, unlike when I look back at a lot of other types of "pervert" characters that existed back in that time period- Daxter can still exist as a character even today, and Jak X is proof of that where he has significantly chilled out with the flirting or thirsting over bewbs.
I’d say that Sig would be the runner up for favorite character. He's just a cool dude in general.
Question 5: Who is your least favorite character?
I don't really hate or dislike any of the characters in the series; not even from The Lost Frontier. Everybody is either likable, just okay, or are meant to be hated. But if I have to really pick one, I'd have to say Kleiver.
Like I said, I don't dislike or hate him as a character, but, he's just kind of there? He's basically just in Jak 3 to be a psuedo bully(with an Australian accent for some reason) type to our main characters.
And why is he in Jak X, anyway? Like, no, I'm serious, why is he there story wise? We spent all of Jak 3 gaining citizenship to Spargus, and he sure as hell knows that Damas grew to respect both Jak and Daxter. I'm pretty sure he's also aware that Jak is Damas' long lost son(because Jak said it in front of everyone at the end of Jak 3). Nothing says honoring Damas' dead ass memory by trying to kill his son in a racing championship because you're bitter over him beating you in a previous race, and probably also for monetary gain- the same racing championship where the current king of your city is also participating in, at that. Kleiver either really wanted to be exiled from Spargus City, or at the very least be stripped of his rank.

KC Does Jak and Daxter 30 Day Challenge Day 16
Day 16: How often do you use the hoverboard?
What kind of question even is this? I am not walking my way through haven city if I have a hoverboard to ride! I use it more than what is necessary! This day is wasted.
I guess to not waste the day let’s go back to a previous issue I had and try to fix it a little! THE SCENE WITH KEIRA AND JAK BEING STUPID AND NOT MAKING WORDS WITH THEIR MOUTHS!
[Jak and Erol conversation] [Keira fauns over Erols riding skills] [Jak says stay away from Erol] [Keira blames Jak for being different than he was two years ago] [Jak huffs off]
[Keira forces Daxter to enter the race with Jak gone] [Keira spends the next segment of the game not knowing what the hell do you say “Sorry I hadn’t realized you’d been tortured and Erol had a hand in that and blaming you for being Dark Jak is also completely not your fault????”] [Keira awkwardly tries to make amends “You know Jak... YOU’RE The best racer I’ve ever seen <:)”] Bam. 30 seconds of extra cutscene and I have probably given Keira 25% more character than Naughty Dog did.
(By this point I prolly sound like I hate Naughtydog or something and that’s far from true. I just hate bad writing and Characterization messing up good a good plot)

Jak and Daxter 30 Day Challenge:
Question #22: What are your favorite quotes?
Easily my favorite. I can hear, at any given moment, the sound of Jak’s voice saying it. Perfection.
Some other honorable mentions:
And, though I can’t show it to you because TPL doesn’t have subtitles, I also love this one.
Keira: Back again, boys?
Daxter: Boy?! Hey babe, I'm a full grown, uh... somethin'... somethin' fuzzy.

Jak and Daxter 30 Day Challenge Finale!
Q30: Have any unanswered questions?
Yes. How come Jak's Uncle is his Uncle when we already know Jak is from the House of Mar? Why didn't we see a young Keira in Jak 2? Who is Jak's birth mother and what happened to her? What happened to Keira's mother? What happened to Daxter's parents? What happened to Ashelin's mother? How did Krew even reproduce Rayn with that fat body of his? Is Jak even THE Mar like Ashelin said or just named after him? When will the others go after Rayn since the events of Jak X? And did Gol and Maia survived the Dark Eco silo predicting what Samos said at the end of Precursor Legacy that they "probably died" in the silo?
So many unanswered questions that we will never get due to Naughty Dog giving up on cartoony games and making realistic games like Uncharted and The Last of Us. I think a different company should make a Jak and Daxter game (*Cough* Jak 4), like probably Insomniac, or Double Fine, or... hell maybe Nintendo (Like Nintendo would make a Jak and Daxter game. I've been begging them to have Jak and Daxter be Smash Fighters in a Super Smash Bros. game but it didn't happen...)

Jak and Daxter
I found this nice little Q&A thing on Deviant Art from @Briizyleaves. I am a little Jak and Daxter nerd so here we go. :p
1. How did you discover Jak and Daxter? I was a kid basically. It was especially when I received my very first Playstation 2 from a close friend/family member and he automatically gifted me this game of Jak and Daxter Precursor Legacy and as soon as I started playing it, I raged from the platforming I had to do. XD
2. Which game is your favorite? I’m doubting between the first game: The Precursor Legacy and Jak 3. Funny enough, before I ever played the hardcore Jak 2, I received Jak 3 first which was funny. I was curious on how it was possible that he first game of platforming and happy worlds turned into this apocalyptic badass shooting game in the first place, so I couldn’t wait to get Jak 2 and played Jak 3 first. yet it didn’t ruin the storyline much. I was like ten back then and I couldn’t read English well anyway XD
3. Which game is your least favorite? The Lost Frontier. Because Naughty Dog claimed to end the series after Jak X Combat Racing so High Impact Games took over and made this mess....
4. Who is your favorite character? Jak. He has his badass aspects and just this cool super Saiyan like style to it.
5. Who is your least favorite character? I have a few characters I didn’t like, but if I had to choose one, I’d go with Count Vegar for being an ass to everyone!
6. What mission do you love most? From Jak 2: I loved the Forest Levels as they reminded me back to the first game where colourful nature took place and exploration. But also the Tomb of Mar. I loved the puzzles I had to complete. From Jak 3, Oh, boy, I loved the Temple levels and the one at the Catacombs. Very mystical, dark and gives you a sense of the remains of mankind. And from the first game, I loved Spider Cave the most. Yup... THAT level. And to be fair, I did enjoy the ring mission in Jak 3 in the forest xd
7. What mission do you hate most? Shooting the swamp lurker rats from the first game. From Jak 2, I hated the mission where I had to outrun the guards whilst trying to get o the other side in the destroyed part of the city above the water, and I especially hated the level with the KG robots that I had to take out whilst the guards were after me too! Going through very small streets and crashing into other zoomers sucked!!! And from Jak 3, I mostly hated the desert level where I had to save these wastelanders from the storm. As a kid, I lost this level too many times! I just hated to race in a desert full of hills and Marrauder shooters after you whilst your vehicle keeps slipping and tumbling over. Especially when time ticked!
8. Who is your favorite couple? Ashelin and Torn, but actually sneakily Ashelin and Jak, cos at the end of Jak 3, whew it got hot! The best friend couples would be Jak and Daxter.
9. What is your favorite weapon? The Beam reflector seemed to be too much of an easy enjoyment. There was no challenge to it, so I will have to go with the Pace Maker and the Grenade Launcher. The Super Nova was a bit.... too strong....
10. Do you believe Jak is THE mar? There were loads of arguments on this and there still are, but I think Jak could only be Mar (spoilers btw) because he met the Precursors at the end of Jak 3, and despite the time traveling madness of when the Precursors poke about legendary hero who saved the world. I wouldn’t believe it otherwise because of the lack of the correct storytelling n the Jak and Daxter franchise. I never saw Jak being an engineer, building the Tombs and such... I more of see him as a battling maniac that can race and blast Metalheads. He could be an offspring of Mar or an ancestor, but Mar was supposed to be just a name Damas gave his son before he lost him by Vegar and the great war in the world.
11. Which eco is your favorite? The Dark, badass Eco from Jak 2 and 3, especially.
12. Who is your favorite Precursor? Towards the end of Jak 3, we see a little... plot twist of ottsels being the Precusors (yeah spoiler alert). It was funny and all but I cannot believe ottsels were the true Precursors who formed eco. In fact if they were, Jak would have turned into it falling into dark eco, or at least, dark eco would have turned daxter into a dark maker in the first game. You see, the storyline is very confusing and eventually felt like being thrown away. If I had to choose between the ottsels who stood there telling they were Precursors, I'd go with Daxter I guess... If Jak 4 ever happens, I hope the storymakers will continue to solve the puzzles for us.
13. Who is your favorite citizen? The true citizens were literally boring decoration... If you mean from haven City... Only those who played a part into the story in Jak 2 and 3 weren't really just citizens, but if I had to go for one... I'd go choose Tess?
14. Do you like The Lost Frontier? No way... I played it and it could have had potential if it weren't given to High Impact games, AND if it weren't just a flight/shooter game with bad dialogue and overall bad gameplay. WHO TURNS DAXTER INTO A MONSTER, COME ON?!
15. Preferred Wasteland vehicle? Dune Hopper XD Cos I could just jynx those stupid hills and fly!
16. How often do you use the hoverboard? Like all the time. I even tried to do silly tricks, and glitched over some buildings in the desert XD. It was insane being chased by the Marrauders when you have a boost on your hoverboard by unlocking it with your secrets.
17. Dark Jak or Light Jak? Both were awesome.
18. What is your favorite location? From Jak 1? A lot go with Sentinal Beach. I'd say, I liked it too despite the fact it was easily finished. But if I had to pick another one beside it, give me Snowy Mountain.
19. Ever collected all orbs in Jak 2 or Jak 3? In Jak 1, yes, but Jak 2 and 3? Jak 2 is still a pain, my God... Jak 3 is getting there, but still not quite by certain side missions ….
20. Which moment shocked you the most? Um... the ottsels being the Precursors and Damas dying and being Jak's father. Holy crap I cried seeing that scene ! (SPOILERS!!)
21. Which opening/ending is your favorite? The opening of the first game, second game, the ending of the first game and the ending of the third game, the end boss taken along. ;)
22. What are your favorite quotes? Daxter: “Are you gonna keep yappin', or are you going to get me out of this mess?” “Hey, baby, what do you think we have some fun and get cruizin'?” All Daxter Yacow quotes. Daxter saying “WEIRDOOOO!” towards the end of the first game. “Uh, we won't find any more of that Dark-gooey-Eco stuff in there, will we? Cuz I'd hate to fall in again and turn into you!” Man, and what was worse than those Death monologues from Daxter when Jak died XD. “I was right behind you. Really... I was” LOL, and I laughed at the Rock village part when Samos and Keira entered Blue Sage's lab and Samos said: “It seems he threw a party!” Keira said: “Oh, my, rock village is on fire!” Samos: “One heck of a party!” Yellow Sage: “Who woulda thought I'd live to see the day I had to be rescued by a boy and his muskrat? I'm gonna give Gol and Maia a little payback for these embarrassments! Then we'll see about cookin' up some muskrat stew.” Daxter chokes in fear
23. Toughest and easiest boss battle? Touchest: the ones from the first game when I was a kid. I sucked beating Klaw, that plant, and the end boss: Gol and Maya...Now, they're quite easy. Towards Jak 2, the hardest boss battle was the one against Erol racing and of course the one fighting Baron Braxis when he was in that robo suit on the roof. Easiest Jak 2 is claimed to be the end boss with Kor and it is.... And towards Jak 3, the toughest one had to be the one against Erol towards the ending.
24. Ever just go on a KG killing spree? Yes, all the damn time, because why not.
25. Favorite Jak and Daxter fan art? Not really. I did see some nice artists on youtube and dveiant art doing a great job portraying Jak and Daxter in their styles though.
26. Who is your favorite sage? That crazy Yellow one, saying he wanted some nice muskrat steak. XD That had to be a very funny quote as well.
27. What is your favorite secret? Jak being Mar. Ha ha, or did you mean from the menu in Jak 2 and 3? Well, I really liked the unlimited ammo one xd
28. Do you like Jak X: Combat Racing? I kinda liked it, especially dropping bombs and blowing people up just like in Shrek' racing game XD I always cracked up hearing them get angry whenever I got them and they'd try to attack me back. I also loved gearing up my vehicles.
29. Would you like to see another game? Sure, if it was made by NaughtyDog... Or at least a company that knows the Jak and Daxter franchise just like the ones who made Daxter for the PSP! They at least knew the story!
30. Have any unanswered questions?
Lots. Thanks to all the bagillion plot holes!
