I just finished my 100th book of the year! I've never read so many books in a year before, but I really didn't have any slumps this year, and listened to a lot of audiobooks (2.5x speed) on my daily commute.

ride the cyclone PSA for you all:

a lot of people don’t realize that uranium city isn’t a fictional town. it is a fictionalized version of the real uranium city, a town established during the cold war era boom of uranium mining towns in the 1950s.

it was a thriving mining town, with business shining throughout the 60s and the town boasting a population of over ten thousand.

the sudden closure of its last mine in 1982 saw the population plummet from 4,000 to almost 400 people.

to most, it’s now considered a ghost town, with only between 50 and 90 residents depending on the season.

relics of when the town was thriving remain scattered throughout the area. candu high, built right before the population plummet, remained in operation for 4 years before shutting down.

the only remaining school only serves students from kindergarten to grade nine, meaning that the only way a high school education can be pursued is through private means. there exist no cafes, and the few hotels and apartments that existed in the area have since shut down.

uranium city is a lot more than a dead-end highway town in real life: it’s almost completely abandoned. assuming the musical takes place in 2009, it wouldn’t have been big enough to host a fair and a cafe wouldn’t have enough customers to maintain business. part of uranium are fictionalized in ride the cyclone but the town itself met an even worse fate than the fictionalized uranium.

It’s honestly so heart-breaking what happened to the original Cole:

At age 12, he was a newly-discovered mage. His father killed his mother for being ‘evil’ aka having a knack for magic that Cole just discovers he has too and he tries to do the same to Cole.

He accidentally killed his little sister, Bunny, while trying to protect her because of not learning how to control his powers. 

He killed his father with a dagger which originally belonged to his mother and was the only thing he had left of her.

He was then arrested by Templars who beat him up, locked him away and forgot about him. He starved to death, and he would have been all alone except for the Spirit of Compassion he befriended, who tried to help him. 

His last words were “Thank You” to the Spirit of Compassion before passing away.

And this all happened because of Templar filled out the paperwork incorrectly, causing them to erase all proof of their mistake and act like he was never even here. 

The Spirit of Compassion felt unable to help him, and instead, became him and committed it’s existence to helping those in need. I mean...I honestly can’t. I’m a crying mess. 

I freakin love Original Cole and Spirit of Compassion Cole so DAMN MUCH!

I compelled my massive fanfic project (X Marks the Spot) yesterday and now I’m sad.

I won’t do a fanfic (or anything) of that length again; but it was (and is) a capsule of my writing styles through time. I am proud of what I managed to do.

Still, is a sort of feat, even if fanfic.

life update cause i can

for context i was filming some videos. i was also wearing a black long sleeved shirt. very stretchy material, very comfy, very much collects lint and hair like no other. semi puffy sleeves but they're droopy cause the type of fabric.

you got the picture? great.

i was chillin, lining myself up with the camera making sure i was where i wanted to be, ended up pressing my arm across my chest to make it lay flat.

it was semi dark with the way the lighting was. black shirt. dark area. bam! i have a flat chest now.

and ok, i've done this before yk where you flatten your boobs so see what ur chest would look like in a certain outfit but i swear to god this time?? i actually genuinely paused.

maybe sorta freaked out a bit too.

took a video that i sent to my friends in better lighting (i send them life updates via video they're used to it) pressing my chest flat and turning to the side to see how it would look. and honestly??

i really really liked how it looked.

i'm going to the store tomorrow to get some measuring tape and i'm actually gonna commit to getting myself a binder. like i'm genuinely gonna do it.

i'm kind of excited about it i think??

like i've talked about it before but i've never wanted to actually commit to buying one cause i was like "eh im fine i don't need to waste my money right now" but now i actually think im in a place where i can let myself get one.
