nasa: A stone cold look at Saturn 🗿

The giant planet gives us a look into its moody disposition. The Cassini spacecraft captured this image on Jan. 30, 2007, from a distance of 700,000 miles (1.1 million kilometers). As Saturn’s atmosphere rages with thunderous and hurricane-like storms, its majestic rings spin a tale of ancient collisions and cataclysms. A joint endeavor of NASA, @europeanspaceagency, and @agenziaspazialeitaliana, Cassini was a sophisticated robotic spacecraft sent to study Saturn and its complex system of rings and moons over the course of a decade. Lessons we took from Cassini helped in the planning of our #EuropaClipper mission, which is on its way to Jupiter and expected to arrive in April 2030. i need you all to know that there has been a cat with the official role of chief mouser in downing street consecutively for nearly a hundred years (i went down a wiki rabbit hole) (the first unofficial one i could find was called treasury bill in 1924) (after that was peter who held the title from 1929 to 1946) (bob/munich mouser/munich came next and served at the same time as peter from 1936 to 1943) (next up was nelson, from 1940 to 1944, who had a rivalry with munich) (it seems peter outlived them both?) (peter II was just a baby when he was hit by a car and died :( serving from 1946 to 1947) (soon after came peter III, who served from 1947 to 1964) (he lived a long life to make up for his successor's unfortunately short one) (peta came next, i believe the first female chief mouser! she had the role from 1964 to 1976) (wilberforce came after her, who in addition to chief mouser, also held the title of the best mouser in britain! he held the [chief mouser] title from 1973 til 1987) (humphrey held his position from 1989 to 1997, when he was fired by tony blair! they had to release photos of him sitting on top of dated newspapers to prove that he was just rehomed not put down) (after a whole TEN YEARS with no cat in sight, sybil took up the mantle in 2007, but wasnt suited for city girl life and retired to the countryside less than two years later in 2009) (after sybil came our CURRENT chief mouser larry! he is famously bad at his job, whacked boris johnson's dog in the face after [bojo] tried to kick him out, and apparently also didnt like rishi sunak's dog 💀💀 hes an icon and a legend) (he sat calmly under donald trumps obnoxiously large car and didnt allow him to leave) (he served from 2011-present) (honorary mention to freya who served from 2012 to 2014) (dont worry she didnt die just retired) (well not until 2022)
