Mifune Matsuri, Arashiyama, Kyoto by Kyoto Fan
"Held on May 19th. The day includes Heian-period historical clothing, old-fashioned boats, and traditional dances and music performed not on a stage, but on the water. In the Ōgi Nagashi ritual, an actress portraying the famous author of The Pillow Book, Sei Shonagon, and her attendants send decorative folding fans to float downstream."

Yuji absolutely loves fireworks and Choso invites you to go with him and Yuji to celebrate the Fourth of July in the park.
Yuji holds both your and Choso’s hands as you walk through the crowded park, the scent of hot dogs and other grilled foods in the air, little kids running around and parents trying to get their attention.
Yuji is decked out in all the celebratory colors and accessories he could get at the festival. He runs excitedly when he finds Megumi and Gojo and drags you and Choso along with him.
“Mr. Gojo! Are you going to watch the fireworks?”
“Yup, me and Megumi are going to watch ‘em, Yuji.”
“So are we!” Yuji smiles and Choso doesn’t miss the way Gojo eyes you up and down in your cute little outfit you picked out.
“Yuji, let’s go find a spot,” Choso calls and Yuji follows you and him to a nice spot in the grass to sit and watch the fireworks.
Yuji sits on your lap and Choso takes a chance at pulling you into his, which you accept with a blush, and Gojo chuckles and sits beside his friend and his twin girls. The fireworks start after it’s dark enough outside, and your body jolts with each loud sound.
Choso notices and covers your ears without a word, letting you enjoy the pretty colors without flinching at the loud pops. Yuji gasps and giggles out “wow”’s as he points at the fireworks, completely astonished by the colors and shapes the fireworks make.
After the firework show, you carry the sleeping Yuji back to Choso’s apartment and lay him in bed. Choso smiles at you and gently rubs your back.
“Sensitive to sound?” He mumbles softly to you.
“Have a bad history with them, yeah. Wanted to see if I could handle them for once since you and Yuji invited me.”
“You didn’t have to, but I’m glad you decided to come with us.”
“I’m glad I did too. Thank you for covering my ears, that made it better to handle.”
“Of course, I’d do that for you any time. Maybe you can come with us for New Year’s too.”
You smile softly and lean into him.
“I’d love that.”
He feels his heart flutter and seems a little hesitant to let you leave.
“Um, do you want to stay here tonight? Some people are going to set off fireworks through the whole night.”
“Where would I sleep?”
“I can take the couch.”
“No, it’s your apartment, I don’t want to disturb your comfort,” you start, but he rebuts.
“I’m not letting you sleep on my couch and be uncomfortable either. If we can’t agree, we have to share a bed,” he says decidedly.
You feel a bit of blush and almost choose to go back to your own apartment when you hear a muffled pop of a firework outside and jump a little.
“…Fine, we’ll share your bed…”
Choso blushes a little himself but ensures your comfort, letting you lay down first, and holding you close when more fireworks go off nearby. You both silently wish this moment would last forever.

Kagurazaka Awa Odori Festival 2024 by Tanuki Studio
I love seeing how colorful, vibrant and lively their festivals are. Their traditional clothing are so beautiful. And it's heartwarming to see the younger generation continuing the tradition and preserving their culture which makes Japan one of the most unique destination.

"Konohagakure Fuyu Matsuri (Hidden Leaf Village Winter Festival)"
I felt like drawing something pretty (that had a winter theme), so here is Sakura with a little Sarada wearing their best kimonos on a winter day. I imagine Konoha must have all sorts of festivals, especially during their peaceful time period (after Naruto Shippuden and before the Boruto series). I based Sakura’s kimono on a tomesode (kimono for married women), and for Sarada, a style of kimono that a small child (girl) would wear on a special occasion.
I haven’t drawn in an anime/manga style in a while, so this was fun to create. I hope everybody likes this!
I actually haven’t watched Boruto in…well…gee…a year and a half? I’m so behind on the series. I’ve been wanting to watch Shippuden again. Last anime I recently watched was Kimetsu No Yaiba season 4.
Drawn with Sakura Pigma Micron pens, and then coloured in with a mix of Copic Markers, Ohuhu markers, and Koi Watercolours.

P.S. Fellow artists, do you ever hit an “Artist Block”, or just feel super unmotivated to create anything at all? That is how I have felt since March of last year. I haven’t worked on cosplay since then (when I always have made so much cosplay, since 2003) but I reached a total burn-out. Same came to artwork. I need to (and would love to) create more artwork, yet I don’t want to force myself when I feel unmotivated. I find myself gaming (Skyrim and Dragon Age Inquisition) more than creating, but I only play games when my son is visiting his father (which is usually twice a week). Even my son has reached an “art block” and unmotivated stage…he used to draw so much, non-stop. There must be something in the air. I’m also super exhausted (due to work and also having Fibromyalgia), so that contributes to being unmotivated. I need to get out of this mode…time to create more artwork and cosplay! Please send me extra energy!

Happy Tanabata Festivall🎋✨
Today it’s the 7th of 7th which is a magical day filled with love and miracles.
The number 7 is considered to be the number of spiritual perfection because it’s a symbol of God’s work.
It’s a symbol of completeness and heaven.

Today we are celebrating the meeting of the deities Orihime and Hikoboshi, represented by the stars Vega and Altair.
Princess Orihime was a beautiful seamstress who wove gorgeous clothes by the Heavenly River, represented by the Milky way. Princess Orihime was so engaged with her work, she became despaired of ever finding her true love. Her father, a God of the Heavens, the Emperor of the Galaxy, loved her dearly and arranged for her to meet the lovely Hikoboshi, the cow herder who lived on the other side of the Heavenly River. It was love at first sight and they got married right away.
Their love and devotion to each other was so deep that Princess Orihime stopped weaving and Hikoboshi allowed his cows to wander the Heavens.
The Emperor became so angry that he forbade the two lovers to be together, sending Hikoboshi to the other side of the Milky Way.
Beside herself with loneliness, Princess Orihime cried and cried. Beginning the rainy season with her tears.
The Emperor couldn’t stand to see his daughter in this state, so he allowed her to visit her dearest Hikoboshi one day a year, the 7th of the 7th.
This legend is known as Tanabata 七夕 meaning “Evening of the Sevens” also know as Hoshi Matsuri 星祭り meaning Star Festival.
It originally comes from the Chinese Qixi Festival 七夕节 which is the 7th of 7th from the Lunar calendar. It was brought to Japan during the 8th century.
To honor the Star Crossed Lovers people write their wishes on colourful thin strips of paper called tanzaku 短冊紙 and hang them from bamboo branches.
I hope you enjoyed this story.
Have a lovely day and may all of your beautiful wishes come true! 💋💖✨
