Housewives having og syndrome you know what good for them Vicki and Nene literally built their franchises which are basically dead now and spent a good portion of their lives on the shows, if the network can’t afford them too bad figure it out. Not counting Teresa because she’s still on and Ramona’s time ran out and comparing her to someone like Vicki who is problematic as well, I at least feel like Vicki has been 100% authentic during her tenure and remains a hard working woman with a story to tell

Eight years later, or, "I'm not getting older; I'm just getting bolder."
Hi divas,
It's been the better part of a decade since I first posted this list, and a lot has changed: for me, for Bravo, and not least for the various superestrellas herein. I'm forced to fess up to some clunker opinions (Stacey Forsey is not a better Housewife than Vicki Gunvalson; Teresa Giudice is [heartbreakingly, devastatingly] not actually in love with her brother), and a few overall sea changes in the way I conceptualize the show and Bravo in general.
First of all, I underestimated the delight of the Housewives blog/news cycle, which has only refined as an apparatus since the posting of this list. A key component in being a Bravolebrity is one's ability to titillate with delightfully brain-bending headlines (Teresa Giudice 'can’t relate' to Jen Shah’s prison sentencing: 'I would never do something like that.') and to shock and delight with one's antics, public snipes, absurd feuds, and assorted felonies. When I first compiled this list, it was after my first watch of each of series, and I didn't understand that a good chunk of the captivating material occurs offscreen, as a thrilling little adrenaline hit during an otherwise mundane day. If I had to make a list like this again, I'd take that into much more rigorous account.
But I wouldn't make a list like this again, because fundamentally... I really like all of these women now, at least as highly edited TV characters! Shock twist: they're all now tied in my heart! I see them all as rich and necessary players in the show's milieu, and I honestly think that my individual moral judgments of them are totally irrelevant—and, in fact, I think the show works best approached as non-judgmentally as possible. I respect that each viewer will have their own individual lines in the sand as to what is and isn't Too Far, informed by their own personalities and experiences, and I can't ask for carte blanche approval of these problematic women and their problematic ways. But for me, I have genuinely come to appreciate Kyle Richards and Jeana Keough and THE Mary Schmidt Amons, and of course I still love Phaedra and Tamra and Sheree and all of the other beautiful Botoxed gladiators who have taken to the Coliseum (and The Traitors season two) for our collective entertainment.
I think part of what's brought me to this conclusion is that in the current era of BravoCon and celebrity superfans and Peacock exclusives, the social media discourse has gotten increasingly tense, heated, and even abusive—between fans and other fans, certainly, but also between fans and the talent. People frequently direct really cruel messages to the Housewives and other Bravolebrities without thinking of the impacts of those sorts of messages, individually and en masse. I think a ranked list like this one, with its favourites at the tops and least favourites at the bottom, isn't a great format for communicating the nuance of these programs at their best, and for expressing my appreciation for these many strong, interesting, entertaining women who love vaginal rejuvenation and axe-throwing. Basically, I think we're too quick to judge, and I think I judged too quickly.
I still get really sweet messages from readers about this list (please forgive me if I haven't answered yours!), so I won't strip it from the web, even though I disown a lot of the opinions underpinning it. If you're reading this in 2024, or later, just know that I almost universally wish I were kinder and more thoughtful in my appraisals. And, hey, thanks again for reading.
If you're interested in keeping up with me eight years later, I write, produce, and host a podcast with my friend, Josie, called Bittersweet Infamy. We cover infamous non-fiction stories, including an excruciatingly in-depth dive into the Salahis' white house crash with lots of bizarre celebrity cameos, from Shaq to Sugar Kiper to Bai Ling. Three and a half years in, we're revving up for our 100th episode, so we'd love the well wishes.
If that's not your vibe, then please continue to enjoy the weird and wonderful worlds of Bravo—and please, by all means, make it nice.
xoxo
t.
P.S. RHOSLC kicks ass.
P.P.S. Luann is still my favourite.

‘RHOC’ star Tamra Judge reunites with ‘old friend’ Jeana Keough after feud
No crimson wine was harmed within the making of this reunion. Tamra Judge met up with her former “Real Housewives of Orange County” castmate Jeana Keough on Thursday. Judge tweeted a photo of the twosome smiling collectively on the Montage Hotel in Laguna Beach, Calif. “Ran into an outdated buddy at the moment. No crimson wine or cyst and deceased papers have been thrown. #RHOC,” she wrote. “Real…

10 to Midnight (1983)
"That's not nice, Leo."
"Jerry, I'm not a nice person. I'm a mean, selfish son of a bitch. I know you want a story, but I want a killer, and what I want comes first."
#10 to Midnight#american cinema#j. lee thompson#charles bronson#films i done watched#William Roberts#Lisa Eilbacher#Andrew Stevens#gene davis#Geoffrey Lewis#wilford brimley#Robert F. Lyons#Bert Williams#Iva Lane#Ola Ray#Kelly Preston#Jeana Keough#June Gilbert#A grotty little slasher that goes heavy on the sleaze factor despite having a mainstream star for the lead. It's classic Bronson in that#It's right wing wank fodder in which we're supposed to feel bad for his cop character after he gets found out for planting evidence (and#Loses his job but faces zero legal repercussions!). Poor Bronson. Basically just one of the infinite number of Death Wish alikes he made#After the huge success of that film. Humbug. It is tho made with a level of skill that sets it apart from many other dirty little vigilante#Films; it's also vaguely ridiculous for having a killer whose whole thing is he kills in the nude and then going to incredible lengths to#Not show his naked body (naked women are fine in slasher world; dongs are literally worse than child murder). Why make him be nude? The#Result is murder scenes and chases which are slightly undone of their tension because of the sheer number of props and conveniently placed#Signs and gates and things always at dick height. It's like one long extended version of that Austin Powers scene where he keeps holding#Objects in front of his junk. For all he has to put up with Davis still does a very good job as the serial killer (very chilling as well#As presumably very chilly). Bronson is just Bronson if a little older and tireder (not that that would stop him; he kept making these#Nonsense thrillers well into his old age). Good old Wilf Brimley has a small cameo and deserved a better role (and a better film let's be#Honest). Apparently Gene Siskel gave this a modestly good review. Just goes to show those boys weren't always right

A New Era of the Desperate Housewives
Tumblr media
I’m pleasantly surprised that the premiere of RHOC didn’t suck.
I liked that Bravo had the former original housewife Jeana Keough doing a voice-over intro.
It was a nice reminder of the show’s origin as it was invented after the popular TV-show “Desperate Housewives”. It’s bringing it back-to-back.
But while the show is doing a homage to its origins, it throws its iconic troublemaker Tamra Judge under the bus.
Tamra was apparently the scapegoat this time.
Shannon Beador is cutting her ties with her former bestfriend and ended her feud with Kelly Dodd. They both agreed that Tamra was the reason their friendship became strained.
Maybe they’re too inlove to really care. It was especially sweet to finally see Shannon in a warm and loving relationship.
As Bravo kindly reminded us; her ex-husband was a jerk.
Speaking of nasty ex-husbands, Gina Kirschenheiter is still a part of the show. And she should just embrase her short hair and leave those hair extensions alone. Yikes!
But who would’ve thought that we was gonna get THE confession from Braunwyn Windham-Bruke in the premiere?!
She admitted that she was an alcoholic, which broke my heart. She claimed that it’s terrifying to feel and be vulnerable, which I thought was so honest and relatable.
We know that there’s a lot going on with Braunwyn now:
Someone’s apparently trying to blackmail her(?!), she’s arguing with Gina, she’s supporting the Black Lives Matter movement – and there’s rumors about her getting a divorce.
But she really gave her all in this episode – and that’s what the Real Housewives needs. REAL stories.
I feel like I’m becoming a fan of her right now. She still has an annoying laugh though.
To all the haters out there: this might not be such a bad season.
However; Orange County is not a place I would want to live. It seems to be cripplingly religious, extremely conservative and notoriously full of gossip.
God help those with a secret to hold in Orange County, because your day will come.
Well, maybe some skeletons are safe now that Tamra and Vicki Gunvalson are gone.

Hall & Oates as well as Duran Duran and Journey all drop from the top half to the bottom half of the countdown while Culture Club, Styx and Def Leppard continue to climb. Sadly, two songs from this weeks countdown are no…
