I skipped doing a livestream this past Thursday because of Thanksgiving, but did play one the Friday before. I was wiped out and it was a bit rough. Thanks nonetheless to everyone who jumped on…I hope I didn't dissuade you from listening again in the future! I originally wasn't going to share any clips because the performance bummed me out so much (hence the thumbs-down at the end of this video, directed at me and not the audience), but when I rewatched this sequence this morning I thought it was pretty neat, despite a few rough parts (forgetting to erase one loop before building another, for instance). Anyway, hope you enjoy, warts-and-all, and I'll be back this Thursday starting at 6pm to try again! Full setlist and notes: The Light -> + Montana * New Madrid (Uncle Tupelo cover) Dusty Roads Ways To Fly ? I Love You (Or The Mountains) !~ Not The One -> Neal's Jam > Enemy Society (Jerry Hannan) Jam -> Albuquerque (Neil Young) ^ Albuquerque @ Ice On The Mountain Please Don't Let Me Go Caroline -> Isis (Bob Dylan) -> # Caroline -> Jam Casey Jones (The Grateful Dead) -> Honky Tonk Women (The Rolling Stones) Jam > Casey Jones > All Along The Watchtower (Bob Dylan) -> Jam $ + Uncle John's Band teases * Molly teases ? Switched from acoustic guitar to electric guitar during the jam ! New arrangement ~ Prince Caspian outro (no vocals) ^ Aborted, began in the wrong key @ Restarted and performed in the correct key # Caroline teases $ Stream ended w/ guitar loops still running

The Break.
Memang benar, Hannan jatuh.
Stop bikin khawatir, anjing!”
“Ngomong apaan sih lu, bangsat!”
“Brengsek.”
Kembali Hannan sunggingkan senyuman setelah dengar umpatan Loka.

Society, you're a crazy breed
I hope you're not lonely without me
Society, crazy indeed
I hope you're not lonely without me
Society, have mercy on me
I hope you're not angry if I disagree
Society, crazy indeed
I hope you're not lonely
Without me

I love the sentiment in the lyrics of this song, originaly written by Jerry Hannan but made famous by Eddie Vedder with the Into The Wild soundtrack.  It’s really coherent with the philosophy of Chris Mccandless.

It’s a mystery to me We have a greed With which we have agreed
You think you have to want More than you need Until you have it all you won’t be free
Society, you’re a crazy breed I hope you’re not lonely without me
When you want more than you have You think you need And when you think more than you want Your thoughts begin to bleed
I think I need to find a bigger place ‘Cause when you have more than you think You need more space
Society, you’re a crazy breed I hope you’re not lonely without me Society, crazy and deep I hope you’re not lonely without me
There’s those thinking more or less less is more But if less is more how you’re keeping score? Means for every point you make Your level drops Kinda like it’s starting from the top You can’t do that
Society, you’re a crazy breed I hope you’re not lonely without me Society, crazy and deep I hope you’re not lonely without me
Society, have mercy on me I hope you’re not angry if I disagree Society, crazy and deep I hope you’re not lonely without me

Eddie Vedder Live at Eventim Apollo (Hammersmith), London [7th June 2017] - Review
Eddie Vedder has made his way over the pond this spring/summer to tour Europe, and I managed to witness his performance at the Hammersmith Eventim Apollo. Eddie and Pearl Jam have been very important to me for a long time, so seeing this was an opportunity I couldn’t afford to miss.
The supporting set was performed by Irish folk songwriter and ‘Once’ star Glen Hansard. Glen was a very energetic performer despite being seated the whole time. The songs (performed solely on acoustic guitar) were powerful and full of emotion. He talked to the audience like friends having drinks, and it was very intimate.
Eddie arrived on stage just before 9pm and played a solid set that lasted just over two hours (probably because the curfew was 11pm, I’m sure if he were given the chance the gig would have gone on much longer). The set was beautiful, adorned with homely accents such as a circular rug, suitcase, tape recorder, and memorabilia from ‘The Big Lebowski’, the set was added to later on in the show as a fake campfire was wheeled out to accompany Eddie when performing tracks from the ‘Into The Wild’ album. The sound was fantastic, even though I was sitting up in the balcony I could hear the guitars and vocals extremely clearly, with neither one overpowering the other. Eddie was extremely communicative with the crowd, again treating the thousands of people before him as old friends. He even gave one of his ukuleles to a young member of the audience, then stated ‘I gotta plant the seed’, hopefully that kid is strumming away as we speak.
The show was one of the best I have been to. Though I may be biased, it was a fantastic performance and one I will never forget.

“THE KINETOSCOPE”
by Christina Angelina and Ease One
It’s a mystery to me We have a greed with which we have agreed You think you have to want more than you need Until you have it all you won’t be free Society, you’re a crazy breed I hope you’re not lonely without me —Society, Jerry Hannan and Eddie Vedder
In an abandoned water tank from long-retired Marine Corps’ Camp Dunlap, in a community of approximately 150 year-round residents living off the grid in Slab City, California, Christina Angelina, aka Starfighter, painted two series of female faces. Creating motion inspired by the work of photographer Eadweard Muybridge, Angelina says each of the freeze-frame images embodies a specific emotion she associates with a meaningful moment when she trusted her intuition. Her beautiful figurative work is accompanied by a combination of Eastern and Western lettering spelling out the lyrics to Society, speaking to the desire of most in Slab City to leave the rat race behind. Look for these water tanks off the road behind Salvation Mountain. @starfightera  @easeone_tx  @slabcitycommunitygroup

I started this set a half-hour early (for fun), and so it ended up being two-and-a-half hours long instead of the usual two hours. It was a pretty weird (and fun) setlist, featuring a few things I don't play that often: "Badlands," "Ice On The Mountain," "Amie," (which I hadn't played in at least two years), and the second-ever version of "China Cat Supernova."
As you can tell from the setlist, more than a few of these performances were a little rough. What stood out as the highlight of the set was this sequence, which started off with a extra-loose version of "Machine," which ended on a mostly-successful segue into the fast version of "Idyll." Rather than ending directly, "Idyll" moved into a weird, one-chord jam with some chimey, looped guitars (hence the name "Chimes Jam"), which ended by dropping into a cover of John Prine's "Bruised Orange," the first version of that song to feature a jam as well as a "standalone" harmonica solo, which I played sans guitar while a number of guitar loops were running.
Fun times! See you next week! Setlist and notes:
