Okay babes, episode 8 is nothing short of exciting!
📍Hae-in choosing to divorce Hyun-woo so he'd finally be free from all the bullshit her family put him up with, and Hyun-woo deciding to stay at Queens so he could prove his innocence and protect Hae-in. I feel sad that they actually divorced but again, it was necessary for them to "part ways" so they'd find their way back into each other, and I think the next episode will be about them slowly rekindling their romance and hopefully healing from the past. I am anticipating a more beautiful wedding than their first one.
📍Don't get me wrong, I still hate Eun-seong but now I'm becoming more and more interested in his backstory, so this bitch still has some ✨humanity✨ in him, judging from the way he reacted when he found out about Hae-in's illness. Him saving Hae-in from the dog attack when they were kids answered the question why he hates dogs. He's still trash, however I do have a feeling that he will have some character redemption somewhere and will basically help Hae-in find a cure, but we'll never know for sure.
📍Hong Man-dae is the biggest fucking idiot among the Hong family, I'm not saying he deserves what happened to him, I'm saying that he needs to learn the hard way and be slapped with the truth so hard that I want him to come down to his knees and beg his children for forgiveness. As much as I feel sorry for him, he was a terrible father to all of them when they got older...and trusting a fucking shaman? Really?
📍Speaking of which, I am actually glad that the Hong family is now broke af. They need to be humbled big time, especially Hae-in's mom, that bitch is such a poor judge of character. I want her to feel embarrassed and terrible about herself for constantly looking down at Hyun-woo and his family, these are the same people who'd willingly save and help their asses even if it meant getting dragged into this shit hole they dug themselves. Also, I saw a clip of the nosy old ladies who were making fun of her at the salon, I say...DESERVE! I hope she starts to change because honestly, I'm so fed up with her and her bullshit.
📍Soo-cheol maybe immature, but I have to admit that he's a good father. He just wanted his son to experience everything he never did, idk what Da-hye was up to. Maybe it was part of their plans? Perhaps she foresaw how messy it's going to be that's why she chose to run away, we'll never know for sure. I still have faith that she'll choose to do what's right for the sake of her son, after all, Soo-cheol treated her and their baby well.
📍Shout out to Song Joong-ki for his cameo. Hiring Vincenzo as a divorce lawyer is such a Hae-in move 😂

Arthdal Chronicles
Tumblr media
The first season of this fantasy story hits close to home. It depicts the cruelty and greed of villages that have the resources, food and technology to take advantage of others. The story doesn't waist time, the first episode starts with the Arthdal leaders asking the Neanthals to become part of their power. The Arthdal are afraid of the peaceful but strong Neanthals and pretend to negotiate, knowing they are not interested. And what do they do? The Arthdal leaders trick their own people and kill the Neanthals in order to take their lands. Asa Hon learns this when she is in the middle of the attack, and in order to safe Neanthal children, she leaves with a child and Ragaz, with whom she later has children with.
Arthdal continues to annihilate weaker villages, taking them as slaves for hard labor. It is Tagon, an Itgu in hiding, that makes all this possible for Arthdal. And even though he is loved by the village as a hero, his father and other leaders are trying to find ways of killing him, including making Mihol's daughter, Teaelha, into a spy. Even though Tagon is cruel, there is an innocence to his longing to be loved and accepted by the people. His relationship with Teaelha is of a love stronger than their ties to their families and interests. And even though we don't like what he does, some times we do wish him success in his endeavors and fight against the Arthdal leaders for power.
But it is the story of the Wahan Tribe that reminds us that Tagon and all Arthdal are cruel and greedy people that have no respect for others. This is a peaceful tribe in a far away land. They are more like Neanthals in their believes but they are also prejudice against Itgus like Eunseom, whose mother leaves him there before she dies. Eunseom's only true friend is Tanya, the daughter of the priestess and scientist of the village.
It is almost impossible to reach the place but Tagon and the Arthdal leaders find the way to reach the land, it takes them 10 years to reach it and less time to destroy it and take its people as prisoners and slaves. Here we see the struggle of these people who get separated, sold into slavery and fight with each other and their enslavers in order to survive. But it also shows the Wahan people mesmerized by the innovations and way of life in this civilized village.
Tanya ties Eunseom to her by naming him her dream and he will do anything to save her, but destiny takes them into two different paths. These two characters are also very naive, their innocence and sense of justice is what makes others follow them. They both want to forge a world where everyone is equal, no prejudice against people that are different, everyone on equal standing.
Tanya's relationship with Saya is a sad one at best. She is using Saya while Saya genuinely likes her. And even though, at some point she sees him as a friend and cares about him, she still uses his affection towards her. But she is not the only one using Saya, so is Tagon who separated him from his mother when he was a child and Teaelha who became his caregiver for Tagon. Still, Saya is not stupid and he knows how to play the game.
This first half ends with the downfall of the rule of the Arthdal leaders: Daekan, White Mountain, and Hae tribes; giving way to Tagon's rule under the name of Aramun; which damages the relationship he had with Teaelha. Tanya is now the high priest while Eunseom becomes a god for the Ago tribe and starts unifying weak tribes to end fights among them and focus on fighting against their common oppressor.
Tumblr media
The second season starts 8 years after the final events of the first one. And the fighting is no longer centered on colonialism, but on taking down a threatening force that is not letting them continue with their expansion of territories. I have heard of people wondering why the change of actors for critical characters. I wouldn't have minded seeing the same actors since they are excellent ones and we got used to them. But I didn't mind the changes, I think that these new actors, brought some darkness to the characters that had been innocent and naive in the first season. They have learned to play the game and they are using what they have learned for their gain.
Tagon and Teaelha are no longer the close couple they had been, but they still love each other and have a son that unites them. Theirs is a tragic and powerful love story, tainted by the struggle for power.
In this half, we see Tagon's fall, and the rise of the ideology that drove Tanya and Eunseom into battle. But we are left with an open ending that promises more blood and restlessness. Saya wants Arthdal for his own since he can't have Tanya's love; and Teaelha wants to take Arthdal back as she promised Tagon; while Eunseom struggles to make Arthdal the land he and Tanya had envisioned.
It is the bloody story of a civilization in this fantasy world that reflects the truth about the history of our world so full of tyranny, blood and inequality.
It is not a story with clear lines and we will switch sides as their goals become twisted, but so is the story of rulers in the past and the present. This is a fantasy story, but it also criticizes what makes a country a country - it's bloody history of greedy men.

Somehow has normal, alive parents: Lee Jun-ho (Extraordinary Attorney Woo, Has no backstory at all. We only meet his older sister and hear nothing about his childhood.) Shin Ha-ri (Business Proposal, her family is refreshingly normal, right down to her brother being sent out to find her when she's drunk) Oh Han-byeol (Sh**ting Stars, Again, we know almost nothing about her family, only that she has twin sisters. Park Yeon-woo (The Story of Park's Marriage Contract, her mom being annoyed at her for something that is a crime doesn't count as bad parenting) Lee Young-joon/Sung-hyun (What's Wrong with Secretary Kim, his trauma comes from a kidnapper, his parents faced a pretty impossible situation and did their best. They clearly love their kids) Baek Hyun-woo (Queen of Tears, nothing wrong with them out of the ordinary and they are in the drama a significant amount.) Ha Eun-gyeol (Twinkling Watermelon, very loving parents and the deafness and their reliance on him is not anyone's fault)
*Counting her as an orphan even though she gets her parents back after 20 years, she spent her childhood orphaned. ***This character is tricky because I understand why her mother wanted nothing to do with her, but her trying to manipulate the dad and also saying he didn't raise her properly made me so angry. Uncatagorized due to lack of clarity on parents: Soundtrack #1, Hospital Playlist, Happiness

At time of posting 14 Sep 6pm KST: 47K views, 271 comments (Will only translate comments relating to YoonA)
2. Look at YoonA’s latest projects line-up, everything is going well for her ㅋㅋㅋ 7. All are doing really wellㅋㅋ 8. I thought YoonA wasn’t good at acting when she was Saebyuk (in her first lead drama ‘You Are My Destiny’) but these days her acting is really good. Not just as an acting idol, but she's just good at it (acting). ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ I thought IU was good since the drama ‘Pretty Man’ that starred Jang Geunsuk, and for Suzy, Anna, is the best... 9. I watched YoonA well in ‘King The Land’ ㅋㅋ She was a perfect fit ㅋㅋ 11. What? These are all the people I like!!!!! Everyone is pretty and their acting is great. By the way, Yoona's recent works are crazy, they're all successful ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ 12. YoonA was so cute in ‘King The Land’ and her acting is so good ㅋㅋㅋㅋ 13. I watched all three of YoonA's latest projects. They were all good. So good. ㅋㅋㅋㅋShe is soaring especially in ‘King The Land’. 15. YoonA is also good at acting and is building up her filmography well. 16. Wow, just look at YoonA’s recent works ㅋㅋ 17. YoonA is really good at comical acting
19. YoonA, you acted so well, so natural ㅋㅋㅋ I'm looking forward to your next work. 20. I’m convinced (I agree) ㅋㅋㅋㅋEveryone's acting is good, and YoonA's batting score (percentage of her success rate) is especially good lately. 22. Wow, it looks like there aren't any (i)dols to remove (meaning OP agrees with all on the list). But it is surprising that Jung Eunji and Sooyoung aren't here.. I guess it's because there are a lot of female idols who are good at acting. 26. YoonA acted so well in ‘King the Land’ㅋㅋㅋ 27. Wow, 1st place for both men and women are ‘King The Land’ male and female leads ㅋㅋㅋ 28. It's freaking that both YoonA’s dramas and movies did well. The line-up of her recent works is insane ㅋㅋㅋ 30. YoonA’s latest works line-up are insaneㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ 31. Yoona’s career is insaneㅋㅋ 32. It’s the same with male idol rankings, the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places are the ones that always come up when acting idols are mentioned ㅇㅇ 33. YoonA's works line-up is insane 34. I really enjoyed watching Yoong’s ‘King The Land’, it’s my life drama ㅠ 35. Only the people who should have been chosen were chosen. 36. Nodding (in approval) ㅋㅋ 39. Oh, there are all these people who I thought they were good ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ 40. They all act well... 41. Agreed 42. They are all good at acting and pretty 44. Her latest work ‘King The Land’, ‘Big Mouth’, ‘Confidential Assignment’ shivering (because of the awesome line-up) 45. YoonA's acting was really good in ‘King The Land’. She was just like Cheon Sarang herself👍 47. It feels like the differences in acting skills among the actresses aren't that big. The 5 people seem to be famous enough to be in the top 5 in terms of influence and reputation. 48. Do well, everyone 49. YoonA is really good 50. I acknowledged 51. They are all well-known faces. 52. I saw YoonA for the first time through ‘King The Land’ and she was really good. 57. YoonA was really good in ‘King The Land’. 63. I clicked in the article shouting ‘YoonA’ 65. Lim Yoona's latest work is insane...;; 68. These are all people I like 69. The votes are more evenly distributed here, so the difference in votes is not that big... The male idols were overwhelming. 71. I came in thinking YoonA would be here, but she ended up in first place ㅋㅋㅋ. 72. (Comment deleted at time of translation) 74. YoonA's acting in ‘The K2’, IU’s in ‘My Mister’, and Suzy's in ‘Anna’ were really, really good. I'm curious about the acting of this three people in their 30s, 40s, and 50s. 76. But this was released yesterday morning and suddenly both articles (male and female) came out as ‘hot’ topics. 79. To be honest, I was sad because I thought YoonA's (drama) filmography was bad, but these days, everything is really good.. ㅜㅜ And the movie filmography is good too. 80. I acknowledge everyone in this article, but it's a shame that Jung Eunji, Han Sunhwa and Sooyoung weren’t included. I really enjoyed Sooyoung's ‘Not Others’. 85. YoonA seems to choose her works well. 88. (Comment deleted at time of translation)
90. Lim Yoona’s form is crazy!!!!!!! 92. (replied to 69th comment) Oh, it looks like they got votes from all over. Female acting idols are also good at acting. 94. Oh, they are all good actors ㅋㅋㅋI also liked Jung Eunji, Sooyoung and Sojin ㅋㅋ 100. YoonA, IU and Suzy's singing and acting careers are all top notch 101. I acknowledged all of them 105. I thought about Bona, but the acting idols in the article are all very good 106. I also thought about YoonA's ‘EXIT’, but it is not her most recent work. 107. I enjoyed everything YoonA has released recently. 108. I came in the article thinking of YoonA. 109. YoonA❤️ I like her very much 112. King-jeong (t/l note: It is a slang to of 킹 (king)+ 인정 (agreed), to describe being full agreement of something) 113. I approved 115. YoonA’s recent career seems really good 117. Approved approved. 119. YoonA and IU, king-jeong. I want to watch Suzy’s drama, why isn’t it coming out yet? 120. We selected the acting idols who showed the greatest success this year and who we are looking forward to in the future. ----------------------- This is the survey topic. 121. I think YoonA’s career is so good 122. I heard about ‘King The Land’ being a huge hit on Netflix and ‘Big Mouth’ also did well, hence it is a back-to-back hit. 125. I acknowledged it 127. (replied to 120th comment) It is in the text ㅋㅋ 128. As expected, YoonA! 129. Ah, YoonA’s acting is good. 130. I acknowledge all of them 131. Approved 132. Ah, I approved of everyone listed here 133. YoonA is good 134. YoonA seems to be in good form these days. Personally, I think Suzy’s ‘Anna’ was the best ever, so I hope Suzy do another such genreㅠㅠ 135. Good 136. Approved 137. I acknowledged everyone listed here, there are people who I am disappointed that they are not on the list, but there is also no one in the list that I objected too. 138. YoonA’s filmography is good. All her works are very good, and she acts very well too. 140. Everyone's form is good, but the acting skills of the female idols are ambiguous. 141. I like YoonA so much 143. (Replied to 140th comment) What?;; As expected, all the malicious commenters are like sh*t. All the 5 females here have a besting acting of their life for at least once, so what are you talking about? 144. Yes 147. IU and Nana are good. No, all the 5 people listed here are goodㅋㅋㅋ 148. For the female acting idols, the votes are considered more evenly distributed. 149. (Replied to 140th comment) ? 152. I’m looking forward to YoonA’s movies and dramas doing well. I’m also curious about the ‘2 O’clock Date’! 153. I agreed with all listed in the article, Nana’s acting is really good. 156. I like Lim YoonA to the point of dying ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ 157. King-jeong 158. YoonA is good. I thought her acting was good after watching her works recently 160. YoonA is so likeable these days. I've seen all of her recent works. Now, she is a ‘trust and treasure’ actress.
161. Wow, all of them are K-pop talent. 163.The 1st place for both male and female are Junho and YoonA, ‘King The Land’ couple is really good ㅠㅠ I hope they both do better. The chemistry was good, and their acting was good in ‘King The Land’ 167. King-jeong to all on the list
168. Wow, 1st place is YoonA, congrats congrats!! 169. The movies and dramas YoonA starred in, all received great success, so amazing 171. I clicked in the article shouting YoonA ㅋㅋㅋㅋI hope things go smoothly~ 175. YoonA deserves the 1st place. Her drama and movie careers are all good. 176. Regardless of her career, Yoona really showed off her acting chops with her ‘Confidential Assignment’ and ‘EXIT’, and she did well in King the Land as well. Nana and Kim Sejeong are rather unexpected, and I think Han Sunhwa or Jung Eunji are better. 178. All of them have improved a lot in their acting so it’s even better 180. I feel like all the idols mentioned in the original text and Sooyoung and Eunji are good at acting. 185. YoonA 189. YoonA has a good way of choosing projects ㅋㅋㅋㅋ 191. These are the actors who were active 'this year', but it seems like it includes only those who can be included... YoonA did well in ‘King The Land, and IU and Suzy are the queens of immense popularity who respond right away in surveys like this even if they didn't have any hit films or activities this year. (Just like stars who are ranked even if they are inactive that year when Gallup selects the best OO of the year...) Nana becomes popular because of ‘Mask Girl’ recently. 193. YoonA! 194. Even though Nana is really good, I recognize all 5 people there. 196. (Comment deleted at time of translation) 197. YoonA was such a perfect fit for ‘King The Land’ this time, so pretty 198. I'm waiting for YoonA's next work 200. YoonA! 201. Acknowledged acknowledged 204. I agreed with all the line-up here 205. Waiting for YoonA's next work 208. Line-up approved... 209. No, initially I thought how could Sejeong be in 5th place only, but as I scrolled lower (to reveal the top 4), the more I understood. 212. I only saw YoonA's works for a few seconds in passing, so I had the prejudice that I couldn't get into the character because I heard YoonA's voice that I used to hear.. I recently watched Exit belatedly and was so surprised that it turns out okay. I finally understand why her movies are so successful and how she gets casted so consistently. 214. YoonA is good! Han Sunhwa too!! 215. YoonA is really good 216. Even though I’m not a fan of all five of them, I acknowledged. 217. Oh.. everyone who are good are gathered here 218. Soshi is YoonA, but I was also surprised that Sooyoung was better at acting than I thoughtㅋㅋ 219. ‘King The Land’ influence is huge. Both sides (male and female) came in first place 220. YoonA is really good ㅋㅋㅋㅋ I watched ‘Big Mouth’ and ‘King The Land’ recently, and she did well in both dramas. YoonA would be a perfect match for a little bit of ‘Big Mouth’ – ‘King the Land’ – ‘EXIT’, a bright, cheerful, confident and u undaunted not in a villain way character 221. The experts voted but there are people here trying to start a fight so ridiculousㅋ What is it? ㅋㅋㅋ 224. They are all good 225. YoonA’s latest line-up projects are really awesome ㅋㅋㅋㅋ
226, Everyone are gathered here, they are all good 227. Oh, YoonA approved 229. Really, YoonA is really good. I think she has star quality, good screen control, and acting skills. 231. If its YoonA, its king-jeong. 232. YoonA is building up her filmography for movies and dramas well. Her acting in ‘Confidential Assignment’, ‘Big Mouth’, ‘King the Land’ were really good. I admit her acting in ‘Miracle’ was also really good. 233. (Replied to 232nd comment) All same as you and ‘EXIT’ too!! 235. Oh my, YoonA's acting was really good. 236. YoonA, approved 238. Agreed 239. YoonA, approved approved 240. YoonA, approved 241. YoonA, I really enjoyed ‘King The Land’. So lovely ㅠ 243. Hehehe YoonA>< 244. All are good 245. Acknowledged 246. YoonA, approved 248. YoonA, approved 249. Oh, they are all good. And popular too. 258. Even if there are people who should be added in, but there aren’t people that should be removed. I went ‘King-jeong King-jeong’ while scrolling down the list. 259. I watched every project of YoonA that comes out after ‘EXIT’. Really, she is good at acting in both movies and dramas. 260. Agreed 261. It's a shame that YoonA keeps getting underestimated because of the disgusting keyboard warriors. 263. I clicked in thinking of YoonA. 264. Didn’t YoonA filmed a drama in the early days of her debut, she did really well in that too. 265. Agreed, YoonA and Suzy are good at acting 266. YoonA and Suzy are both good at acting 267. Agreed 268. YoonA did really well 269. Agreed for all 270. When will YoonA's next work come out ㅠㅠ I want to see it soon 271. YoonA has become someone that can be trust and treasure (to watch). I am waiting for her next work.

W: Two Worlds (2016)
Tumblr media
Genre: Fantasy, Romance, Action, Thriller
Synopsis: Oh Seong-moo is the writer of the famous webtoon W, where Kang Cheol is the main character - a rich orphan, who uses his money and power to catch criminals, in hopes of figuring out who killed his parents. After many years, all Seong-moo wants is to end the webtoon and move on with his life - but Kang Cheol is not that easy to get rid of. And when suddenly Seong-moo's daughter, Yeon-joo, is pulled into the webtoon, things really start going wrong in both of the worlds.
Episode info: 16 episodes / Runtime around 60 minutes
Lead cast: Lee Jong-suk (Kang Cheol), Han Hyo-joo (Oh Yeon-joo), Kim Eui-sung (Oh Seong-moo).
Link to watch: You can watch on Netflix, Viki or Dramacool
Drama rec masterlist | Drama rant thread (beware of spoilers)
Tumblr media
My very first note on this drama is "SO GOOD!" and yes, this drama is actually so good - there are just a few minor things I want to mention.
The first few episodes are phenomenal - well paced, captivating story, and it leaves you wanting more. Some parts are a little silly, but I really didn't mind it that much.
As the drama goes on though, there is one main problem that I think is why someone told me "it's good, then weird, then shit at the end". They try to do so much in only 16 episodes. We go from a relatively normally paced story to barely being able to keep up with all the new information the characters, and us, learn about how these two worlds interact with each other. They rush through story-lines that otherwise would have been interesting, and keep moving on to the next and the next and the next.
If the drama had been 20 episodes instead of 16, I feel like we could have fixed the pacing issue - taking out some parts would work too, but they really did have something interesting going for them, so it would almost be a shame to cut something out.
I can see what they wanted to do with the drama, and that's part of why I really still like it, even after it took off too fast. It's like The Last Empress for me - I can see that it's messy, but I still enjoyed watching it and had a really good time with it.
The romance is adorable, though I do have my thoughts about the balance of it all - with her knowing more about him than he probably ever will because she watched him from above like that for years (also the fact that her father is almost a god to him (in a bad way)). But I do think they work around it nicely, so I don't mind it too much.
I do also want to say that if you have watched this and liked it - or watched Big Mouth and liked that - you will probably like both dramas. And not just because the male lead is the same, but because I feel like they both carry similar themes.
In the end, I had a blast watching it, so if you don’t mind a bit of a messy ride, I really do recommend a watch.

Love-hate intertwined with ‘Red Balloon’… Act 2 viewing points
Tumblr media
TV Chosun's weekend mini-series 'Red Balloon' has released 'Points to Watch Act 2 of Point and Go' ahead of the full-scale start of the second act, where 'Blue Storm' will blow fiercely.
In the second act of ‘Red Balloon’, the biggest question is what kind of ‘blue nucleus’ the sad blackening of Jo Eun-gang (Seo Ji-hye), who properly bursts out her long-hidden desire, will work. In the 10th episode, Cho Eun-kang was angry when he learned of Han Bada (Hong Soo-hyun)'s true intentions, saying, "I'll do anything for you if you give me money, but where can I get a kid like that, and it's perfect for pampering him?"
And Cho Eun-gang, who used Shin Ki-ki (Choi Seong-jae), a subtle relationship with Hanbada, to provide an excuse for misunderstanding and conflict between the Hanbada and the high dimension (Lee Sang-woo), was shocked by the appearance of a violent and hot night after crossing the line with the high dimension that swayed to him. gave Curiosity is amplifying how far Jo Eun-kang, who triggered a bitter blackening after a thorough and meticulous strategy, will go to satisfy his desire.
With Cho Eun-gang and Go Ji-won crossing the line that should not be crossed, attention is focused on the fact that the triangle composition, the 'blue itself' of the three people, including Jo Eun-gang and Han Bada, who have been friends for the next 20 years, and the friend's husband, Go Ji-won, will accelerate. there is.
When Yeo Jeon-hee (Lee Sang-suk), Hanbada’s mother, raises her suspicions toward Jo Eun-gang, who is trying to separate the Hanbada and the higher dimension, Jo Eun-gang says without hesitation, “Do you want the sea to divorce? Then what would you do?” At this time, Jo Eun-gang's words were not recorded and the crisis was passed, but Yeo Jeon-hee, who does not slow down her suspicions about Cho Eun-gang, and whether the day of catastrophe will come when Hanbada realizes about Cho Eun-gang and a high-level night, raises anxiety and tension. .
The future moves of the two loving people, Jin-cheol (Lee Seong-jae) and Jo Eun-san (Jung Yu-min), are also one of the important points to watch in the second act. Nam Ji-cheol, who was happy with the things he and Jo Eun-san did for the first time in his life, said, “Eun-san, you found my boy again, who stopped at 17. It feels like my heart is beating again.”
And when Jo Eun-san saw Jin-cheol with his wife Go Geum-ah (Kim Hye-seon), “I want to be mine forever. I decided to live for only one month, but I don't think I can keep that promise. Let's get caught,” revealing their deepening affection for each other by expressing their upset feelings. However, Jin-cheol was eventually discovered by his father-in-law, a junk dealer (Yoon Joo-sang), and despite being yelled at to stop, he insisted on "give me some time" without a word of apology. Attention is focused on whether Jin-cheol will break up with Jo Eun-san, who gave him the greatest happiness in his entire life, and what will happen to the future of the two.

W Character Positions Theory
Tumblr media
SPOILERS FOR CONTEXT AHEAD
What Do I Mean By Character Positions?
By character positions I am referencing the roles of characters within a comic book scenario. For example I’ll be talking about the main character roles along with side character roles and background/extra roles. Each have their own job and function within the manhwa world. I’m only counting those that class as characters within the manhwa, therefore characters like Soo Bong I’m missing out of this, as he never went into that Manhwa world. I’ll give a few brief summaries below:
Main character: The focus of the story. The characters that the whole plot circles around. They also typically have a role that they must fulfil, whether its stopping the villain, a certain task or even part of a romance with another main character. e.g. Kang Cheol and (eventually) Yeon Joo
Villain: The main antagonist of the plot, usually with an evil aim of some kind and a hatred of at least one of the main character. e.g. Han Cheol Ho and Ha Sang Hoon (Oh Seong Moo)
Side character: The people that help the main character, whether they’re friends, colleagues or any other people who circle around the plot as the main character creates it.
Background/extra character: A character who is entirely insignificant to the story and their only function is to add extra business to scenes
Kang Cheol
Since the start Kang Cheol has been the obvious main character of the manhwa. As the main character his role was to find out who the true culprit was and catch him. His role never really deviated, although when he went against his predetermined fate, he started to disappear, as he was not following the plot and was therefore becoming irrelevant to it. He doesn’t follow the predetermined fate when he escapes getting arrested initially and then also when he manages to break back out into the real world, as he should have stayed and dealt whatever consequences he was given in order to go with the planned scenarios, hence starting to disappear until Han Cheol Ho was killed.
Tumblr media
Oh Yeon Joo
I think Yeon Joo’s character position has changed numerous times throughout the series. When she saved Cheol, I believe that she fit nicely into the category as side character, though because she wasn’t consistently involved with Cheol, she was more of a background character who has managed to get involved with the main character. In a way, I think that to begin with, until we got the first sign of Cheol having feelings for her in episode 4 (like when he said if she told him she loved him one more time he’d be touched), she wasn’t really a character at all, but still sat within the frame of side character. In this time, this makes Yeon Joo not dying from being shot in the heart make a lot of sense. I believe she became a character at that point and when she started getting close to Cheol (after all the embarrassing incidents), she went from a simple side character to the main female lead character. She was with him throughout the time he was in the real world and even saved him again, right by his side when she could be. This change to a main character also makes sense to the fact that once she’s out of prison and living with Cheol, she is able to be injured, cutting herself as she cooks, and terrifying Cheol, who had already been threatened of her death, like his family previously.
Tumblr media
I then think she stayed as a main character until Cheol made her turn everything into a dream. At that point, she was erased as a character and when she returned, she was simply a background character, just a character to happened to be in the same place as Cheol. That was the case until he caught her in So Hui’s apartment trying to get food and then happened to be the person with him escaping from the police after he was set up by Sang Hoon. I think somewhere they she automatically became a main character, whether it was being his accomplice, saving him again or the kiss that sent her back. Either way, I think once she came back to the manhwa world and spent more time with Cheol, she was already a main character as part of a romance with him, who was also determined to fix mistakes from the past that hurt Yeon Joo a lot. At this point, I think that she continued as main character for the rest of the series, the plot being influenced by both her actions and Cheol’s.
Tumblr media
I also think that because of her being both real and a character, I think that is why her character position changes so easily both increasing and decreasing in prominence without her starting to disappear.
The True Culprit / Ha Sang Hoon
This may seem like a very obvious one, but the true culprit throughout the whole series has been a villain character. He has a predetermined function of killing all of Kang Cheol’s family, including Yeon Joo when he marries her. He also has a clear hatred for Cheol, planning to kill him numerous times but always having variables get in his way. That then extended to Yeon Joo when she became the main, who he eventually killed after a failed attempt in the real world.
Tumblr media
Oh Seong Moo
Oh Seong Moo is definitely an odd case, like Yeon Joo. When he originally comes into the manhwa world, he is a background character, who just happens to try and kill Cheol while he has the opportunity. I think a background character is how he stays for a lot of the series, until he gives the true culprit his face. At this point, Seong Moo became the villain. When he gave his face to Sang Hoon, I believe that they became the same person in a way that Sang Hoon was Seong Moo’s manhwa self. Even the way that Seong Moo describes Sang Hoon is true to himself, especially at the end where because of shooting Yeon Joo, he definitely becomes paranoid, very unpredictable and extremely unstable mentally. He turns from a background character to a villain in an instant, and that’s how he stayed until his end. I think this also explains why although like Yeon Joo he came from the real world, he is still able to disappear when he seemingly acts different to the role he was presented with, when he plans to kill Han Cheol Ho and helps Kang Cheol to get a happy ending.
Tumblr media
Han Cheol Ho
Han Cheol Ho is another relatively simple one. At the beginning he seemed to be a simple side character who was in charge of Kang Cheol’s case as prosecutor. After getting backlash from it which could affect his chances in the election, he becomes a villain, with the original aim of doing anything to take down Kang Cheol and get him charged for killing his family. I believe the aim then changed to killing him when Cheol got too much in the way and he was intrigued to find his creator. Either way, throughout most of the series where we see him, Han Cheol Ho is definitely a villain character.
Tumblr media
Seo Do Yoon
Do Yoon has remained as a side character for the whole of the series, with his main function being as Cheol’s best friend and bodyguard. He even completed his role when Cheol was on the run, which I believe is why he never had problems with disappearing as Cheol did. His role with Cheol never changed, whether he was free or on the run.
Tumblr media
Yoon So Hui
So Hui is another interesting case when it comes to character profiles and roles. She is initially presented as a main side character for Cheol, like Do Yoon, as his secretary and close friend, even potential love interest. When she sets Yeon Joo up to be arrested, Cheol finds out and fires her for creating a victim, like he’d been made a victim in his past, and they also stop communicating like they did. In this case, So Hui was stopped from taking on her predetermined fate and therefore started to disappear. She was always meant to take a role by her side but Yeon Joo took over that place, almost deleting So Hui from existence before they changed to the dream scenario.
Tumblr media
It’s also interesting that after Cheol went on the run, they managed to manipulate her role so that she wouldn’t disappear again. By making So Hui sure that Cheol was dead, her position as secretary wasn’t necessary and therefore she was no longer tied to that specific role as side character, so she became a background character who just happened to be friends with Kang Cheol

My final take on Queen of Tears? It was a one hell of a fucking journey + Thoughts on the finale
[Warning: Long-ass post ahead]
Queen of Tears released its final episode last Sunday, April 28. The show made history as it became tvN’s most watched drama, surpassing the 2019 hit Crash Landing on You. Park Ji-eun was the writer for both shows.
The story is about a couple who underwent a crisis in their third year of marriage. However, a significant event will not only change their lives but also pave the way for them to rediscover their love for each other.
I personally got hooked into this show for three reasons:
First, the plot: Marriage tropes in a lot of dramas are usually about infidelity, toxic and abusive relationships that end in a nasty divorce. It happens in real life sadly, but I appreciate the fact that Park Ji-eun took a different route and gave us another realistic side of marriage. A couple who once had this warm, passionate love for each other became cold and distant over time because of one tragic event that left them wounded and broken. There were also other factors that added salt to the wound which caused them to drift further from one another. I’m not gonna go into details because I have already discussed this in earlier episodes. However, I love that there were a couple of flashbacks that tells the viewers of how their love story began, plus some extra bits and pieces in the epilogue that were either related to Hyun-woo and Hae-in’s past, or a particular scene in the current episode that was told from either of the character’s point of view.
Switching from light and funny scenes to a more intense one then back to swoon-worthy moments and then the last thing you knew you were bawling your eyes out because of the heartbreaking scenes felt like a roller coaster ride, needless to say I was always on edge and I sometimes had to pause in the middle of the episode so I could breathe. That’s how intense the emotions were in this show. Like I have said before, this is not a rom-com but more like a heavy drama with a couple of light and funny scenes.
But the part in this story that appealed to me the most is that it will make you question, how much love can someone truly give? How far can you go to be with the person you love? And when everything seems black and white, would you be willing to stay? Or walk away?
Second, the characters: Immediately, I was drawn to Baek Hyun-woo and Hong Hae-in. Usually in KDramas, it’s always the male lead who is cool, cold, nonchalant and rich af and the girl is the bubbly, cutesy-cutesy, overly dramatic, and broke. I absolutely LOVE the role reversal. Hae-in is the cool and badass wife while Hyun-woo is the cute, dramatic hubby and together, they make an ✨iconic couple✨. But on a more serious note, a lot of characters nowadays are into the red light/green light spectrum and don’t get me wrong, I love it. Who doesn’t love a green light character right? But again, Park Ji-eun wrote them in such a way that you wouldn’t perceive them as this ultra-perfect, no flaw character, but they aren’t toxic either (except for the main villains of course). A lot of the characters in the show have a good and flawed side, and I love it because that’s what makes them human, they are multi-layered which makes them complex, but at the same time, they were written in such a way that the viewers could have a deeper understanding of the characters, and even relate to them in some ways.
Again with the exception of the villains, the character developments were so good. Witnessing this whole-ass process of them being flawed and broken characters to becoming the best versions of themselves were just the best.
Third, the cast: Ah, I can go on and on about how every actor in this show was absolutely amazing! Again, Kim Soo-hyun has proven why he is Korea’s highest paid actor. I love that he can switch from this handsome, smart, and sexy lawyer, to a super cute, loving hubby, and then a man who would fight for his woman no matter what it takes. BITCH! The acting range of this guy is fucking LIMITLESS! As for Kim Ji-won, this is by far her best acting performance in my opinion. Hong Hae-in was such a difficult character to portray, but I love how she was able to effortlessly deliver Hae-in’s stoic, nonchalant exterior and when you look into her eyes you’ll see that vulnerable part of her that no one else except [her husband] sees.
SooWon’s chemistry on the other hand is GOD-TIER! They were born to play Baek Hyun-woo and Hong Hae-in. Whether it’s a funny, romantic, or heavy scene, they nailed it to perfection! These two are the most married couple I have seen in a show. I feel sad that I’m not gonna see them together on-screen for sometime but I am hoping that they’d be able to work together again in the future. Although my delulu self is manifesting for them to be together irl 😂🤧
Park Sung-hoon, I have said before that he is so good at playing a villain. But I hope he gets to show his ability to portray a nice guy in the future, I need a break from him playing evil.
Kwak Dong-yeon and Lee Joo-bin’s performances as the second couple deserve to be applauded as well. Despite their characters going through crazy shit, I love that they were able to deliver it on a lighter, heartwarming note in contrast to SoWoon’s heavier scenes.
Special mentions to the following 🗣️:
The Official Playlist of the Show- When I tell you that I have listened to every song in this playlist, I really mean it. I don’t understand the language, but everytime I hear a song from QOT, I can instantly imagine a particular scene from the show, that’s how magical it is. My most replayed song is The Reasons of my Smiles by BSS, but I also love Heize’s Hold me back, and the song that makes me the most emotional: Love you with all my heart by Crush.
The cinematography: I’m not gonna go into details about the technicalities, but everything was perfectly shot, especially the scenes in Germany–it was dreamy, romantic, and beautiful.
The crew members who worked behind the camera also need to be praised for the hard work, effort, and dedication they’ve put into making this show.
There are things however about the show that I didn’t personally like or I think they could have done better. Here’s the link of why I think the storyline isn’t as good as I thought it would be:
The final episode didn’t turn out the way I hoped it would be, although there were some parts of it that were really good like:
📍 Cheon Da-hye and Grace choosing to take accountability for their past actions (also Grace being the key player in bringing Mo Seul-hee down was the cherry on top) and has been given another chance to live honestly was one of the best character redemptions.
📍The Hong family reclaiming what’s rightfully theirs, that was such a powerful scene.
📍Hyun-woo and Hae-in looking at each other after Mo Seul-hee was proven guilty for killing Hong Man-dae and all the other bullshits she did to Queens and the Hong family, as if saying, “It’s finally over,” and they did it together was so power couple coded.
📍Aunt Beom-ja and husband #4 [really] taking their time to get to know each other…like literally. Her facial expression when Yeong-seong kissed her on the cheek instead of the lips like she was expecting was GOLD.
📍Mama and Papa Hong choosing a simpler and quieter life and hanging out with their besties (Mama and Papa Baek).
📍The family portrait of the Hong and Baek family 🥹
📍Hyun-woo and Hae-in taking their time to rebuild their relationship, then goes on to get married and have a baby, then visiting Germany every so often was the most heartwarming scene.
📍I would say that the ending was a bittersweet one. Hae-in’s premonition came true, she died first and Hyun-woo never failed to visit her grave, and then eventually reuniting was one of the most realistic endings in a Kdrama. They lived a good life, they built a family, grew old together and reunited in the afterlife was beautiful but there was a certain ache in that part, perhaps a reminder that no matter how painful it gets, there is always a silver lining, and if you’re meant to be, you’re meant to be.
However, in addition to my linked post:
📍The first half of the story started really strong, but it dwindled the moment they added all of these ridiculous subplots. One Tumblr user commented that Hyun-woo and Hae-in’s marriage had enough issues as far as drama is concerned and I couldn’t agree more.
📍I get that Mo Seul-hee is a shitty person but I don’t even know why she chose to prey on Hong Man-dae of all people. She could have done the same to other wealthy families (I mean he’s not the only gullible man out there with tons of money), but the question is, what did the Hong family do to her? Surely, there must have been a deeper meaning than just wanting money but alas, it's a question we'll probably never get an answer too.
📍The good thing is that we now fully understand why Yoon Eun-seong acted the way he did. He has mommy issues, abandonment issues, anger issues, etc. My prediction about him dying in the finale was correct, but there was no character redemption for him thus I don’t see the point on why they had to extend his Hae-in obsession arc towards the end. Take out all the irrelevant subplots, and the story still would have worked.
📍One of my biggest frustrations in the show was the fact that they only addressed BaekHong’s miscarriage after Hae-in lost her memories when they could have done that in the earlier episode (the scene where Hyun-woo and Hae-in had a heart-to-heart conversation about their failed marriage), it’s like the writer forgot about that part–which by the way was such a crucial part then she just inserted this scene somewhere in the finale.
📍I was also disappointed that Hae-in's mom wasn't the one who comforted her during that scene where Hyun-woo was undergoing surgery after getting shot. It would have been such a perfect opportunity to heal their relationship. Also, I would have appreciated it if Mama Hong was the one who personally apologized to Hyun-woo for being harsh towards him.
📍I know I said that the ending was a more realistic one, but babes we were ROBBED! I would have loved to see a BaekHong wedding part 2, their pregnancy journey and moments with baby Soo-bin but alas, we were deprived of that too. As much as I find the finale realistic, I wouldn’t say that I was satisfied either.
📍I just remembered this now, but Papa Hong's and Aunt Beom-ja's other sibling could have actually contributed to ending the villain arc. He could have made moves to unravel Seul-hee and Eun-seong's crap, but idk writer-nim just placed him there just because 🤷.
Overall, do I think that this show is over hyped? Storywise, yes. As far as the actors’ performances go, they deserve it.
Is the show worth watching? I’d say it’s worth checking out if you’re someone who likes heavy, intense dramas. If not, avoid this. Again, this is not a light rom-com.
Would I rewatch? For BaekHong, yes but I’ll skip the irrelevant parts.
Ratings:
Performance: 100/10
OST: 10/10

I don't know much about W but I can listen if you want :)
I always like hearing about new fandoms that I'm not in :D
Cool!
W (Also called W: Two Worlds) is a Kdrama and you can watch it free with ads on certain sites. The one I'm currently using is Viki. (Caution, due to the show being translated, different sites will have slightly different translations. It shouldn't matter too much, but it's worth noting.)
The premise of the show is a young doctor named Oh Yeon Joo* is dragged into the webcomic/ comic book her father, Oh Seong Moo, created. There, she helps the protagonist of the comic, Kang Cheol.
Kang Cheol is a former Olympic athlete, earning a gold metal in pistol shooting at 17. Shortly after that, his entire family is murdered with that same pistol and the crime is pinned on him. He dedicates his life to trying to find the killer, creating a TV show (or channel, kind of unsure on that due to translations) to hunt the killer down and becoming a millionaire in the process.
The only catch? Oh Seong Moo didn't technically make a killer. Due to very poor writing (that is explained away as wanting to make sure the comic can go on as long as possible), the killer was a faceless person simply there as a plot device.
Yeon Joo and Cheol fall in love as she hops between the real world and the one in the comic. She first meets him when he is bleeding on the roof of the hotel he owns due to a stabbing incident that was Oh Seong Moo's attempt at getting rid of him once and for all. She disappears back to her world after the chapter is over and, in the next chapter, Cheol is determined to find her, believing she is the key to his life and the reason for his existence.
Shenanigans ensue as Yeon Joo tries to hide from the comic world police, Cheol helping where he can.
The plot gets a bit confusing at times as there are multiple side plot points at any given time and at one point Cheol's memory is 'reset' and he forgets everything that had previously happened with Yeon Joo and forgets her in the process (plot reasons. I'm gonna be vague incase this is convincing enough to get you to watch it).
It is full of laughs, angst, and heartbreak. I guarantee you will cry at least once if you get attached enough to the characters as we have many close calls with death, brushes with the law, play with amnesia and memories.
If I had to describe this show in fanfic tropes it would be: Fluff, Angst, Medical (kept vague enough but blood is shown), Established Relationship, Marriage of Convenience/ Arranged Marriage, Major Character Death, Alternate Realities, Only One Bed, Action, and a few more I can't name off the top of my head.
*: If you are unfamiliar with how Korean names work, the surname is first, followed by the given name. Certain translations will hyphenate the given name [Yeon-joo] to show it's one word but others don't find it necessary. I prefer to keep the two syllables separate because it just looks better to me.
