sur never fade away, un forum city-gang furturiste, je suis à la recherche des quelques membres du staff du club de mercenaire nommé l'Atlantis ; réouvert sur les ruines d'un ancien club mythique au sein de la communauté du mercenariat de Night City, le club a réouvert ses portes avec à sa tête mon personnage : Zola, mercenaire, et surtout fixer du club. Divisé en plusieurs étages, l'Atlantis est ouvert autant au tout public qu'aux mercenaires.

comme mentionné plus haut, le staff est une drôle de seconde famille, où si tout le monde ne s'apprécie pas forcément, il y a un lien unique et une loyauté certaine entre tous les membres et le lieu en tant que tel. les PL disponibles ne sont que des idées globales, mais il est évident que tu peux venir avec tous les idées que tu veux et on s'en parlera avec plaisir, tout est possible et tout est négociable, arrangeable, viens comme tu es ! de nombreux liens seront possibles avec les membres déjà présents, mais aussi avec les membres du forum qui constituent une communauté adorable qui n'hésite pas à accueillir comme il se doit les petit·e·s nouveaux·elles ! Fargo Season 4: The Gang War Between The Chicago Outfit and The Policy Kings

The following contains spoilers for Fargo season 4.

The FX series Fargo begins every episode of every season with a disclaimer that the stories are true but the names are changed. This gives the show a lot of leeway in picking its stories and how to present them. Fargo season 4 is set in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1950. Two mobs in one small city make a truce, which appears to be traditional in that part of town. It’s been done for at least two generations. Loy Cannon, played by Chris Rock, boss of an African American crime family, trades his youngest son Satchel (Rodney Jones), with the youngest son of Mafia family boss Donatello Fadda (Tommaso Ragno) to keep the peace. Donatello dies shortly after, in the usual unusual circumstances. There is no evidence of this kind of underworld trade in any of the true crime books I personally own, and have found no references to any books which reference it in an internet search. There was a beef in town which resulted in Mafia deaths and racial skirmishes in the Midwest crime world. They are unconnected but fill in some of the gaps.

But the central conflict in Fargo appears to be, at least inspired by, a crime war in the Midwestern city of Chicago where the Bronzeville area’s Policy Kings came up against Sam Giancana’s The Outfit. This is the same outfit Al Capone once ran, but the specific turf war came in the late 1940s and ended in the early 1950s, exactly when Fargo is set.

Sam Giancana is a fairly well-known crime figure whose fingerprints have dusted such high-profile hits as the JFK assassination and the attempted whack on Fidel Castro. He was one of the CIA’s “Family Jewels.” Giancana started out as a getaway driver for the 40 Thieves gang, which started out by busting heads for Chicago’s political bosses. He was the first member of the wild 42 Gang to get pulled into the majors and the very first thing he did when he came to bat for The Outfit was go after the Policy Kings’ numbers racket.

Fargo’s crime history holds that there were two gangs during the early part of the 20th Century, but the African American gang had been running the area’s policy rackets since 1918 and expanded into surrounding neighborhoods during the “Roaring 20s.” Black street gangs formed in the Bronzeville area after the 1919 race riots with Irish gangs. After the riots, the gangs became go-betweens for tourists looking for the best food, a good time, or the hottest jazz clubs, of which the neighborhood was loaded. They also showed out-of-towners where to gamble, get laid, or score drugs. The Policy Kings recruited from street talent, just like the Outfit chose Giancana.

The numbers racket is an illegal street lottery where people pick three numbers which are determined by a random drawing the next day, usually the last three numbers of racetrack totals. You place bets with a bookie and runners transport betting slips and cash to the numbers bank. In the Black section of Chicago it was called the Wheel Game, and the Policy Kings set talented gang members up with wheels of their own. The wheels had two drawings a day, one in the afternoon and another at night, bets were picked up every two hours by wheel men. Bookies got 25 percent of their bets. The bank got the rest. It was a no-lose proposition for the house.

During World War II, the epicenter of the Bronzeville area, Grand Boulevard, housed the Black upper class and celebrities on the east side and the struggling citizens on the west. The Policy Kings was stitched together by a tailor named Edward P. Jones, who went in with his brothers on a Wheel. Edward started as a slip runner and borrowed the $15,000 to start his own wheel, called the Harlem-Bronx, from his mother. Jones’ first runner was Teddy Roe, who was working as a tailor in the shop, which was really a front for a policy wheel. Born in Galliano, Louisiana, and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas, Roe had been going back and forth between legitimate work and bootlegging, and could pass for white according to the book, Robin Hood of the Hood: The Life and Times of Teddy Roe, Policy King by Ron Chepesiuk and Michael Roe. He would go on to build an illegal gambling empire on Chicago’s South Side.

The street lottery was protected by politicians Edward Joseph Kelly and Patrick Nash. Chicago’s “Big Twelve Policy Syndicate” was organized in 1932. Energized by the Black vote, the city’s Democratic Party gave tacit approval the next year. By 1938 the Policy Kings were making $10,000 a day. Al Capone noticed their success but left the Black neighborhoods in the hands of the Jones Brothers. By 1946, The Policy Kings were pulling in more than $25 million a year.

Racketeers routinely gave back to the community. This bought them goodwill, and more than its investment in terms of alibis. Roe was nicknamed “The Robin Hood of the Southside” because he paid hospital bills for newborns, funeral tabs for the dead, and was known to hand out $50 bills to the homeless. But also, because he expanded into legitimate businesses and hired locally. Like the Chris Rock character’s operation on Fargo, The Policy Kings were the Black community’s banks and employers in Chicago.

The numbers game generated a lot of money to poor neighborhoods and the Policy Kings kept it there, investing in car dealerships, supermarkets and churches. The Jones brothers bought the Ben Franklin department store which employed 150 people, and was also convenient as a front their policy bank. They bought apartment buildings, first on the South Side and then in more affluent neighborhoods. They also lived large. Eddie Jones’ wife Lydia was a former Cotton Club chorus line beauty queen. She wore satin or mink every day.

Jones and Giancana were cellmates at the federal prison in Terre Haute, Indiana. Giancana was doing time for bootlegging. Jones was serving 28 months for tax evasion, a rap he took to take the heat off his family. The Jones brothers had been working with the other cellmate, Billy Skidmore, who ran 19 casinos inside Chicago’s red-light district. Prodded by Skidmore, a proud Jones told Giancana he ran the biggest of thirty policy games in the city. When Giancana got out of jail in 1946, he brought the idea of taking over the Black policy games to Paul “The Waiter” Ricca, who had been the de facto boss since Capone’s imprisonment, but he and future Outfit boss Tony Accardo, also known as “Joe Batters” and “Big Tuna,” were caught up in a Hollywood labor investigation.

Giancana and “Fat” Leonard Caifano, a bookmaker and loan shark, visited Jones in prison to get him to put up the money for a vending machine operation. Jones gave his brother George orders to bankroll it. Within six months, they had 12,000 jukeboxes, cigarette and pinball machines, and a crew of about 500. The machines were legal, but the soda, candy, records and cigarettes which were in them fell off the backs of trucks.

The mob, seeing earning potential in the African American neighborhood, kidnapped Jones in May of 1946, and demanded $100,000 and a promise he hand over the policy rackets as ransom. Jones was held for five days and released at the corner of Loomis and 62nd Street, with adhesive tape over his eyes, and cotton stuffed in his ears. Roe paid the money, but decided to keep the rackets for himself. Jones moved his whole family to Mexico, though they could have moved to the villa in France where their mother Harriet lived.

Roe did not like or trust the white mob. He was respected as a crook with honor because he refused to give in to the Outfit, stiffing the mobsters their street tax. Ricca and Accardo didn’t take interest in the Black policy rackets until November of 1946, when Tom Manno drove them to the operation’s basement counting room which was filled with piles of money stacked to the ceiling. Accardo gave the order to take control of the policy business by January 1947.

Caifano tried to work out a partnership agreement, but Roe refused to even meet with him. He never backed down from a fight, vowing never knuckle under to any white gangster. A dozen mobsters from The Outfit and an unknown number of Roe’s gang were killed in the gang battle by the end of 1946. Caifano took over gambling parlors and set up bookie joints in the Black wards. Roe’s house was bombed, his wife and children were shot at, his collectors were beaten. Roe became a living legend in the Black community just for surviving, and it was good for business as the betting grew as part of neighborhood unity.

Giancana personally met with Roe. He offered him $250,000 in cash to quit the policy rackets. Roe told him “I’ll die first.” Giancana reasoned he “just might.” On June 19, 1951, Fat Lenny tried to kidnap Roe. He and his brother, Marshall Caifano, along with Vincent Ioli flagged down Roe and his three off-duty Chicago-cop bodyguards. Fat Lenny got shot in the head when they tried to pull Roe into the car. Bill Baxter, one of the off-duty cops, reputedly fired the fatal shot, but Roe took the rap.

The Chicago Police Department booked Roe for murder and put him in Cook County jail. After hearing reports he might be executed, they put him under extra heavy guard and Roe’s meals were prepared outside the jail in case someone tried to poison him. Roe was also charged with conspiracy to violate the state anti-gambling statute. He was denied bail six times before and during his trial. For the murder charge, Roe pleaded self-defense. His defense team linked the prosecution to the mob and Roe beat the case. Roe told reporters “They’ll have to kill me to take me” when he left the courtroom.

But Roe didn’t beat mob rule. Lenny Caifano was a made man, and his brother Marshall Joseph Caifano, was a capo. After Caifano’s killing, Giancana waged a shakedown war on Chicago’s Black bookmakers. Roe was hiding out in his mansion on South Michigan Avenue. He hired a small army for protection, according to Kings: The True Story of Chicago’s Policy Kings and Numbers Racketeers by Nathan Thompson. On Aug. 1, 1952, doctors told Roe he had incurable cancer. He dismissed his bodyguard. On August 4, 1952, he left his house dressed in a three-piece suit and hat. Roe was hit in the back, face and jaw by five blasts from a 12-gage shotgun before he reached the other side of the street. He did not have a chance to pull out his revolver. He died slumped against a tree outside 5239 S. Michigan Ave.

“The king is dead,” Chicago newspapers reported. Roe’s was the biggest funeral Chicago’s Black community had since Jack Johnson, the first African American world heavyweight boxing champ, died in 1946. Roe was laid out in a $5,000 casket. In attesa dell’uscita del suo ultimo film TRE PIANI (uscita inizialmente prevista ad Aprile ma che forse vedremo al Festival di Venezia) ripercorriamo la carriera di un autore, attore e regista molto amato, sia in patria che all’estero. Giocando a mettere in fila i 13 lungometraggi di Nanni Moretti chiediamo anche a voi quale siano i suoi migliori film. Nella lista una scena memorabile per ogni opera.

Il romanzo racconta in tre capitoli altrettante storie che si sviluppano in un condominio di tre piani. Al primo vive una giovane coppia con due bambine, che a volte affida la maggiore agli anziani vicini di casa. Un giorno l’uomo, affetto da Alzheimer, scompare con la piccola per alcune ore finché i due vengono ritrovati in un frutteto. La storia è raccontata dal punto di vista del padre della bambina che sospetta che la figlia sia stata abusata.

Al secondo piano vive una donna che si sente trascurata dal marito sempre in viaggio e che non si sente appagata dalla sua vita da casalinga. Un giorno si presenta alla porta il cognato, con cui il marito ha rotto da anni, che le chiede ospitalità in quanto ricercato da polizia e creditori.

All’ultimo dei tre piani vive una giudice in pensione, vedova, che riallaccia i rapporti con il suo unico figlio che aveva litigato violentemente col defunto marito della donna.

I “tre piani” a cui fa riferimento il titolo del film sono metaforicamente i tre livelli nei quali Freud ha diviso l’apparato psichico dell’Uomo, le istanze freudiane della personalità. Così il personaggio di Riccardo Scamarcio, impulsivo e convinto che qualcosa di tremendo sia accaduto alla sua bambina è la rappresentazione dell’Es , ovvero le pulsioni più basilari, quello di Alba Rohrwacher, che interpreta una madre che da sola deve accudire un figlio appena nato, è l’Io, ciò che media tra l’istinto e la razionalità, mentre il personaggio di Moretti, un severo giudice, è l’emanazione del Super Io, quell’area psichica deputata al controllo.

13) Io sono un autarchico (1976)

Girato in Super8 e ristampato in 16mm, prodotto indipendentemente (meno di 4 milioni di lire) e custodito sotto il letto fino alla sua distribuzione, è l’esordio nel lungometraggio di questo sceneggiatore, regista e attore classe 1953. Qui Nanni è Michele, attore in una compagnia teatrale e in crisi coniugale.  6,4

12) Mia Madre (2015)

Nanni Moretti torna a parlare di morte e di lutto all’interno della famiglia, mescolando ancora una volta il suo cinema con la sua biografia. Torna Margherita Buy nei panni dell’alter ego dell’autore. 6,5 

11) Il Caimano (2006)

Dopo una pausa successiva al grande successo de La stanza del figlio Moretti torna a parlare sia di politica che di cinema. L’ascesa di Silvio Berlusconi analizzata con ferocia e un finale apocalittico in un film tra i più difficili e controversi del regista. Prima volta di Margherita Buy come alter ego. 6,6

10) Sogni d’oro (1981) 

 Michele Apicella questa volta è un regista, abbastanza frustrato, che sta ultimando un film sulla madre di Freud. Moretti non risparmia critiche ai mezzi di comunicazione e alla televisione nella sua prima opera metacinematografica. 6,7

9) Aprile (1998)

L’autore continua sulla via del diario personale e apre il film con la salita al governo di Silvio Berlusconi nel 1994 . Nell’ aprile del 1996 coincisero la nascita del figlio Pietro (il 18) e le elezioni politiche anticipate (il 21). 6,8

8) Santiago, Italia (2018)

Unico lungometraggio documentario della sua carriera racconta le conseguenze del colpo di Stato in Cile del 1973 mediante filmati d’archivio e interviste odierne ai protagonisti, concentrandosi sul ruolo dell’ambasciata italiana a Santiago che diede rifugio a centinaia di oppositori di Pinochet, consentendo loro di arrivare in Italia. 7,0

7) Habemus Papam (2011)

 Nanni Moretti, mai così profetico,  racconta la crisi spirituale di un papa che abdica (una delle ultime grandi interpretazioni di Michel Piccoli) due anni prima di Joseph Ratzinger. Nanni veste nuovamente i panni di uno psicanalista e ritorna la passione per lo sport con un torneo di pallavolo tra ecclesiastici. Molti i premi conquistati dal film. 7,1

6) Palombella Rossa (1989)

Primo film dichiaratamente politico del regista: Michele Apicella ha perso la memoria e vive la crisi ideologica del Partito Comunista durante una partita di palla a nuoto. Ritorna la musica di Franco Battiato (E ti vengo a cercare); primo ruolo importante per Silvio Orlando. 7,2

5) La messa è finita (1985)

Attraverso la figura di un giovane prete, Don Giulio, l’autore continua l’analisi dei tempi in cui vive tra problematiche familiari e quelle con amici e parrocchiani. Sempre con singolare ironia, sprazzi di dolore, malinconia, colpi di genio e musica italiana (Sei bellissima, Ritonerai). Orso d’argento al Festival di Berlino del 1986. 7,3

4) Ecce Bombo (1978)

La prima vera produzione cinematografica di Moretti (16mm gonfiato in 35) nel ruolo di Michele Apicella (il cognome di sua madre), alter-ego del regista – e caricatura del militante di sinistra – in un film generazionale di culto. Nanni a 24 anni esplode con tutto il suo carisma, facendo cose e vedendo gente. 7,5

3) La stanza del figlio (2001)

Palma d’Oro a Cannes per il miglior film, racconta il dolore per la perdita di un figlio, la durissima elaborazione del lutto e la necessità di ricominciare a vivere. Incise nella memoria diverse sequenze, devastante l’ascolto di By this river di Brian Eno. Esordisce Jasmine Trinca e Stefano Accorsi compare nel ruolo di un paziente. 7,8

2) Bianca (1984)

 Una commedia che diventa un giallo: uno dei migliori film italiani degli anni 80 e tra i più amati dagli estimatori di Moretti. Diverse le battute memorabili (“Continuiamo così, facciamoci del male“) e la prima volta di Franco Battiato in colonna sonora (Scalo a Grado). 8,0

1) Caro Diario (1993)

 Tre episodi (In vespa, Isole, Medici) nel primo dei quali Nanni Moretti – per la prima volta se stesso, – inanella una serie di scene cult una dopo l’altra. L’originalità e la stravaganza dell’opera gli valgono la Palma a Cannes come miglior regista. 8,5

PESARO – Il presidente della Provincia Giuseppe Paolini e la vice presidente Chiara Panicali, accompagnati dal dirigente del Servizio Ambiente Andrea Pacchiarotti, hanno visitato il Centro Ricerche Floristiche Marche “Aldo Joseph Bernard Brilli – Cattarini”, di proprietà dell’Amministrazione provinciale, situato alle pendici meridionali del Monte Ardizio, in via Barsanti 18 a Pesaro. Ad accoglierli, il direttore del Centro Leonardo Gubellini con i suoi collaboratori, ma anche il presidente dell’Ordine dei Farmacisti di Pesaro e Urbino Romeo Salvi con Flavio Di Luca ed il rappresentante del Quartiere 7 Montegranaro – Muraglia di Pesaro Luca Pandolfi. Dal 2018 infatti, grazie alla firma di un protocollo di intesa, si è creata un’importante sinergia tra Provincia, Ordine dei Farmacisti e Quartiere 7 per rilanciare e far conoscere maggiormente alla popolazione l’attività del Centro Ricerche Floristiche, fondato nel 1949 dal professor Brilli – Cattarini e da lui donato nel 1975 all’Amministrazione provinciale. Il Centro custodisce il più importante erbario delle Marche (circa 900mila campioni provenienti da tutta Italia, tra cui 2 specie rare mai catalogate in altri erbari), l’orto botanico dove sono coltivate specie rare ed estinte nella regione e la biblioteca specializzata con circa 11mila titoli.

VALORE SCIENTIFICO, CULTURALE E DIDATTICO

“E’ una vera eccellenza – ha detto il presidente Giuseppe Paolini – dobbiamo lavorare per renderlo ancor più operativo, valorizzando l’unicità che rappresenta a livello regionale e nazionale ed intercettando risorse anche attraverso bandi nazionali ed europei, facendolo conoscere maggiormente a studenti e cittadini e soprattutto dandogli visibilità in eventi del settore, come fiere o convegni”.

Il dirigente del Servizio Ambiente Andrea Pacchiarotti ha evidenziato l’attenzione dimostrata lo scorso anno dagli istituti scolastici, a cui il Centro di educazione ambientale (Cea) della Provincia, che ha sede all’interno del Centro Ricerche Floristiche, ha proposto pacchetti didattici gratuiti, rivolti alle scuole di ogni ordine e grado. Gli allievi hanno potuto osservare le piante rare dell’orto botanico e quelle essiccate conservate nell’erbario, partecipando a lezioni su come raccogliere e riconoscere le piante e creare piccoli erbari. Un rapporto con i giovani che potrà essere incrementato visto che “la Provincia coordina da quest’anno una ‘rete’ composta da 10 Centri di educazione ambientale, tra cui il proprio, per definire insieme attività ed azioni di educazione ambientale da proporre alle scuole e alla cittadinanza, tra cui pacchetti didattici e corsi di aggiornamento”.

“Il Centro – ha spiegato il direttore della struttura Leonardo Gubellini – è considerato dalla Soprintendenza Archivistica per le Marche una realtà di evidente interesse scientifico e culturale ed un patrimonio da tutelare nella sua unitarietà. E’ referente per le Marche del portale della flora www.dryades.eu ed ha collaborato alla redazione di una cheklist della flora esotica d’Italia e di un’altra della flora autoctona, segnalando la presenza di nuove specie per la flora marchigiana e soprattutto due specie nuove per la scienza. Ci fa piacere che sempre più cittadini si avvicinino alla nostra struttura, dimostrando attenzione sia per l’orto botanico, alla cui manutenzione e cura collabora la cooperativa sociale T41 sotto la direzione del Centro, sia per l’erbario. Ci sono anche casi in cui i cittadini arrivano con qualche pianta per chiederci se è velenosa, o se è una specie protetta. Ultimamente vengono a chiederci informazioni anche sul ‘ragno violino’, portandoci a riconoscere alcuni esemplari di ragno, che non sono mai di quel tipo, ma ci fa comunque piacere perché vuol dire che il Centro è conosciuto e apprezzato nel territorio”.

CORSI DI FORMAZIONE E INCONTRI CON LE SCUOLE

Il presidente dell’Ordine del farmacisti Romeo Salvi ha spiegato come l’Ordine sia  provider nazionale, cioè autorizzato a promuovere corsi di aggiornamento per medici, farmacisti, infermieri, dietisti e fisioterapisti. “Per questo, insieme all’Amministrazione provinciale e al Quartiere 7 abbiamo promosso i corsi di formazione ‘Sulle tracce dei semplici – le piante e le antiche farmacie dei monaci’, che hanno visto una grande partecipazione di pubblico, con visite guidate alla scoperta delle bellezze storico-naturalistiche, coinvolgendo l’Università di Urbino”. Grande successo tra i cittadini il ciclo di incontri ‘Di cotte e di crude’ che li ha avvicinati al riconoscimento delle piante spontanee commestibili e medicinali. Da parte sua, il rappresentante del Quartiere 7 Montegranaro Muraglia Luca Pandolfi ha evidenziato le attività di sensibilizzazione svolte nelle scuole per incrementare le visite di studenti e insegnanti. “Importante è stata anche l’attenzione del Fai, che lo scorso anno ha inserito il Centro tra le visite guidate delle ‘Giornate FAI d’autunno 2018’.

A breve Giuseppe Paolini e Chiara Panicali torneranno a visitare la struttura per delineare progetti da portare avanti.

Nel corso dell’ultima settimana abbiamo analizzato ogni dettaglio del nuovo trailer di Spider-Man: Far From Home, dai legami con Avengers: Endgame agli indizi sulla trama del film e l’introduzione, nel MCU, del Multiverso (un concetto assai familiare ai fan dei fumetti) grazie al personaggio di Mysterio.

Eppure c’è sempre qualcosa che sfugge anche agli sguardi più attenti, come l’easter egg che fa riferimento alle “origini” dell’Uomo Ragno e che potete osservare nell’immagine qui sotto.

In questo particolare frame infatti, Happy Hogan sta dicendo a Peter Parker non può sparire dal radar di Nick Fury e rifiutare le sue chiamate, e dietro di lui, sullo sfondo, compare un poster dedicato al wrestler Crusher Hogan. Ma questo non è anche il nome del combattente contro cui si è scontrato Peter nei fumetti poco dopo aver ottenuto i suoi poteri dal morso di un ragno radioattivo?

Joseph “Crusher” Hogan offre ben 100 dollari (come segnalato sulla locandina) a chiunque riesca a durare sul ring per tre minuti, sfida raccolta dal giovane eroe all’epoca poco consapevole delle sue nuove abilità.

Probabilmente si tratta di un omaggio alle storie originali, o forse Happy e Crusher sono imparentati nell’universo dei Marvel Studios. Se così fosse, spider-Man ha combattuto con Crusher Hogan e Happy era presente durante l’evento? Magari è così che Peter è entrato nel radar di Tony Stark, sotto suggerimento del suo collaboratore, convincendolo a chiamare l’eroe per la battaglia di Civil War?

Diretto ancora una volta da Jon Watts, Spider-Man: Far From Home arriverà nelle sale il 2 Luglio (invece che il 5). Confermati nel cast del film il protagonista Tom Holland nei panni di Peter Parker, Marisa Tomei in quelli di zia May e Zendaya in quelli di Michelle, Samuel L. Jackson in quelli di Nick Fury e Cobie Smulders in quelli di Maria Hill.

Le riprese del film sono durate circa tre mesi, e nella maggior parte delle foto circolate in rete abbiamo visto Peter Parker alle prese con Michelle. Naturalmente il film vedrà tornare anche Flash Thompson (Tony Revolori) e Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon), gli altri compagni di scuola di Peter. Ma cosa conosciamo realmente della trama e quali teorie circolano intorno al nuovo titolo dei Marvel Studios?

Per quanto riguarda le novità del sequel, la tuta di metallo di Peter dovrebbe essere una versione rimodellata di quella di Iron Spider. vista in Avengers: Infinity War. Questa nuova tuta, prevede anche una nuova maschera, con degli occhiali al posto delle orbite bianche, come da tradizione, questo perché è ovvio che il personaggio abbia bisogno di una nuova maschera dopo che la sua precedente è andata distrutta su Titano, durante il confronto con Thanos e prima della sua disintegrazione.
