to clarify, I have always thought that he's a virgin prior to meeting MC! I agree he does not at all come across as the casual type for a plethora of reasons, most of which you mentioned already. it seems that he puts quite a lot of weight on wanting sex with MC to be right, too, whatever that means to him. I think most theories for why he would not be a virgin are kind of absurd hahah. I have seen people imply that he was sleeping with women to get them to sign contracts which.. no comment. he was just being handsome and charming.

I mainly mentioned university as a possible (albeit unlikely) scenario because it's the one time in his life we know practically nothing about, and Jumin being abroad for his studies dually makes it the perfect time to make bad and/or out of character choices. curiosity is a very big part of Jumin's personality and so while I don't personally think it happened I do think if he was hypothetically to have slept with someone at any point it would have been as a one-time, rather literal experiment at nineteen or twenty. written results afterwards and everything. it would also give him psychic damage.

I do also agree he probably sees his lack of inexperience as a bad thing, honestly, which is sad because it's definitely not :( he seems a little self-conscious generally when it comes to MC, hyperaware of himself and how she might perceive him. he says himself it's unlike him to care about what other people think, and I think it's actually very cute that he gets a bit frazzled by it all. This is not from calls where you can be more romantic with every member, nor is this from his after ending or Valentines dlc where they are all lovey-dovey in some capacity, since you are already in an established relationship. No, this is Jumin in the chatrooms:

Jumin is stupidly adoring with his MC. He doesn't hide his affections, almost to a fault. I mean, he kisses you right in front of Sarah! Sure, a part of him did it to prove a point, but he openly expresses that he wanted to do it. He just goes for it.

Jumin has a lot of love and affection to give once he finds someone who he feels safe to give it to. It's honestly not surprising, and it's the same situation as is with Saeran. When you grow up without much love given, once you get an opportunity to share it with someone who you feel safe and happy with... you will do so tenfold. -Zen: Flips his lid. The worst to deal with actually because upon hearing the news he wants to go to your ex's place and fist fight them, because how dare they do that to you? Sorry to the Zen fans, but before receiving any real comfort you're going to have to calm him down before he choke slams the cheating ex. That being said, once "the beast" is back in its cage, he actually is very easy to be around during such a heartbreaking time. He buys/brings you food, offers for you to come over and star gaze with him, and talks shit about your ex with you when you want but doesn't bring them up without you doing so first.

-Yoosung: Cries with/for you. Like actually. Imagine tons of 'how could someone do that?' and 'you deserve better, MC, I can't believe (your ex partner) would do that to you!' and 'i'm so sorry, MC, what can I do to make you feel better?'. Very doting to the point of being overbearing. He's trying to stream with you to keep you occupied, reaching out a couple times to make sure you've eaten and are doing ok, and so on. And no, he totally doesn't stalk your ex on social media and glare at their pictures...

-Jaehee: Upset when she hears it's happened, but unsurprised. Jaehee has a knack for judging character and figured that your partner was off from the start, but didn't mention it since she had no evidence and wanted to support you/your relationship if it made you happy. Probably the best out of all of them at handling this. Lets you talk about it if you want to but doesn't push you. Supports you and gives you some advice, then offers for you to come to her place to drink hot chocolate/tea/coffee and eat your favorite meal. If you come over, she'll play board games or watch movies to distract you from what's going on- or just listens if you need to cry/vent. -Jumin: Jumin has a passionate hatred for cheaters, mostly caused by his father's many failed marriages where a lot of his father's wives would cheat. So when he hears that your partner has cheated on you, he's upset for you. Like uncharacteristically angry. If you want your partner fired from your job/evicted/literally any other terrible thing that could happen to them, he'll make it happen if you ask. At the same time he'll leave them alone if not, though he strongly encourages you to dump your partner and never speak to them again. He buys you a ridiculous amount of shit in response (need a new place because you're moving out of your partner's? he buys you a penthouse) to try to make you feel better and takes you out to eat at nice restaurants to keep you distracted, but doesn't offer much real verbal comfort.

-Seven: Heartbroken when he hears the news and feels like a terrible person for being slightly relieved that it's over. He never liked your partner but he also doesn't want to wish ill on your relationships... Still, when you call him with the news, he struggles with his reaction. He's not used to being put on the spot with serious news and has no idea how to respond, so what comes out is "oh, really? that sucks". And the moment the words leave his mouth, he wants to shove them back in, but he can't. So, instead, he apologizes, and as you heal from the betrayal, he's sure to constantly text/call you to keep you company.

I am so fucking insane about kim yoosung. He has been my favourite mysme guy and he will always be. People who dislike him will always make me upset since i find most of them lacking compassion towards people dealing with grief and loss

But lately I find myself get very angry towards him. Especially after I played his route this April to get his Normal Ending and I happen to notice some things about him

Kim yoosung is a chronic people pleaser and that hurts my soul. It hurts me whenever I express my dislike towards some of the things he might enjoy and he decides to never touch that thing ever again...all because I said I dont like it. It hurts my soul because I dont want people to change themselves for me...and lose their individuality....I am someone who values individuality and seeing him lose himself for me is painful.

His tendency to self sacrifice and risk his life now makes me angry. My feelings towards the concept of sacrifice is very ambivalent. In my culture where women are always expected to put others before themselves I grew up feeling a sense of shame because I had been unable to do so. Yet this concept feels very toxic to me as I have watched mothers growing agitated and abusive towards their children when they dont feel like they have been "paid back" enough by them. From an early age I have learnt that self sacrifice often comes with strings attached and eventually becomes a tool of perpetuating abusive cycles.

I do believe Yoosung is not the type who would engage in hurting others for his self sacrificial tendencies- not in the way I talked about because he chose to be that way. Men are not really expected to do things Yoosung usually engages in (being a helping hand to your partner in domestic activities, cooking and putting himself and his own well being before your partners most of the time).

But it still does not stop feeling painful to me. He risks his life and loses an eye. In one bad ending he gets tortured and God knows what else happens and takes the abuse with pride. I cannot see my partner in so much pain. I dont want to be widowed within the first six months of marriage. It hurts me that he feels the need to constantly prove to deserve my love. It hurts that he will never see how much he means to me as much I mean to him. "I just wanted to protect you-" SHUT UP SHUT UP.

Going back to the point where I mentioned how he takes the abuse in his 3rd Bad Ending with a smile. Him being so vulnerable to get into abusive relationship and even being prone to tolerate abuse and romanticise the abuse he tolerates makes me so upset. The Bad Ending 1 is a clear proof of that and how much he easily forgives people who hurt him all the time albeit being well intentioned is also another proof. Zen himself says "yoosung is too nice to make jumin suffer the consequences of his actions".

This very much drives me insane. His overall tendency to neglect himself for a crumb of affection and his fear of being abandoned makes me so angry at him. It ignites an urge in me to protect this boy from every danger. Perhaps I am projecting a bit since I feel like being able to protect Yoosung or someone like him will heal my inner child (who has been failed by most adults around them).

Its past 2 am at night and I am crying over my beloved fictional boy.

“This has never happened before,” Jaehee reports, “In the two-thousand year history of this kingdom, no monarch has ever performed a wedding ceremony.”

“Hey, I offered to do it myself,” you point out, adjusting your formal armor. “Where’s Zen? I feel like he did this wrong.”

Zen looks up from polishing the knee plate on his own formal armor. “I don’t think you’re allowed to perform your own ceremony,” he muses, “But I could’ve done it.” Traditionally, wedding ceremonies are performed by knights, though Royal Wizards have been known to fulfill the role in a pinch. 

“Yoosung wanted to make history,” you shrug, “Again.” Ever since Yoosung expanded the protections of marriage to all couples in the kingdom, regardless of gender or class, you and Saeran began considering the possibility of getting married. This, of course, will put you in the line of fire from Saeran’s father, but in your opinion, it’ll be worth it if you can be assured you’ll get to spend forever with the man you love. “Are you sure the breastplate is on right?” 

“It’s on right,” Zen assures you, offering his arm, “But we should probably get going.” 

“Yeah,” you sigh, accepting Zen’s gesture and holding out your other arm for Jaehee. 

“Good luck, MC,” says Jaehee as she takes your arm. You suppose that the situation doesn’t call for very many more words than that, but Jaehee offers them anyway. “You and Saeran… will be very happy together. And I’m sure the ceremony will be beautiful.”

“Thank you,” you nod, “Do you think my armor’s on right?” 

“Definitely,” Jaehee assures you. You shrug, trusting her judgment.

With that, the two of them escort you into the throne room, where Yoosung is waiting for you at the foot of his own throne. It’s still strange to see him in a crown, though he’s been King for a year now. After depositing you in front of Yoosung, your other friends fall back, taking their ceremonial places behind the throne. 

“I’m so fucking nervous,” you whisper to your childhood best friend. You missed Yoosung in the dressing room, but you know it wouldn’t have been proper for him to go in there prior to the event. As King, he has to hold himself to certain standards of politeness lest his authority be questioned. This is especially true considering the particular wedding ceremony that he’ll be performing today. 

“Don’t be,” he squeezes your hand, the same way he used to when you were a child afraid of the dark. “Everything will go over well— I promise.”

There isn’t much more time for words after that, because Saeran steps into the hall, flanked by Saeyoung and Jumin. Saeyoung, who told you his real name in confidence the day after your knighting ceremony, is still dressed in purple to match his stunning aura. His white hair is colored red artificially in accordance with the expectations of the kingdom. Your friends have agreed to avoid sharing too many details about the twins’ powers with anybody outside of your circle, which necessitates keeping the events of last spring as discreet as possible.

Jumin is also dressed to the nines in his customary formal attire. Walking between the pair of them, Saeran somehow manages to stand out, despite the simplicity of his formal blue magic users’ robes. Saeyoung has cast some sort of spell so that the maroon carpet leading up to the throne turns to a bed of flowers as Saeran walks on it. It looks beautiful now, though you’re certain it’ll be a mess to clean up later; you make a mental note to return after the ceremony to assist the servants with whatever they require of you as they restore the grand room to its original state. 

“Are you ready to present the rings?” Yoosung asks once Saeran has established himself across from you. 

“Yes,” you nod, holding back tears as you locate the ring you prepared to give to Saeran. The two of you decided against sappy public vows in favor of a simple ring ceremony. After all, there are no secrets between the pair of you anymore. Both of your feelings have been out in the open for a very long time. “I… learned to use the forge so I could make you this ring out of the armor I was wearing the first time I defended you as a knight.” You slide the band onto Saeran’s slender finger. 

Now it’s his turn to present you with something shockingly jewel-encrusted. It reminds you a bit of the sorts of things he used to conjure for you, although such feats have become nearly impossible since he lost his powers. “I stole this from my father’s house,” he informs you as he eases the ring onto your finger. The concept is romantic, of course, but it leaves you with more questions than you’d have expected to harbor on your wedding day. 

“What?” You can’t help but ask. “Saeran, when—” Without his powers, Saeran would’ve needed to physically enter his father’s palace to retrieve the ring for you. You have no idea where he could have possibly found time for that.

Sensing a conversation that probably should not be held in public, Yoosung cuts in. “Sir MC, Mage Saeran, you are now married in the eyes of the crown. All… illegal use of the royal forge and…” He swallows, “Theft from the royal vaults of other kingdoms is hereby pardoned.” Yoosung does not necessarily have the authority to pardon anyone for crimes committed outside of his jurisdiction, but it’s a very nice thought. 

You take advantage of the resulting cheer from the crowd to turn to your new husband. “When did you manage to… get this, my love?” You turn your hand to and fro, admiring every angle of the ring. It’s clearly worth a great deal of money, but it’s understated enough that you could easily wear it under your armor or during combat training. 

Saeran shrugs. “It’s pardoned now,” he informs you with a sly smile. You wonder how much of this he planned, and how much is just a happy coincidence.

“I’m gonna need more details,” you decide. 

“I’ll give them to you,” Saeran cups your face in his hands, bringing you close. “It’s our wedding night, so we’ll get lots of time alone together. But you have to be patient, or else you’re gonna get transformed.” It’s not a new threat, but it’s much funnier now that Saeran has no feasible way of following through. 

You giggle at the outlandish idea before the implication of his words resonates, at which point you break out into a raging blush. As he spends more and more time in society, Saeran seems to get more and more smooth. “I’d like to see you try,” you taunt him playfully, allowing him to draw you into his arms. It’s a good thing indeed that the pair of you will shortly be getting lots of time alone together.

Glowing Embers - Jumin Week 2024

Happy birthday Jumin! I wrote this and felt it fit the theme for day one best (everlasting love, gratitude, and constancy) ❤

You were never good at gifts. Attempting to express your affection through items never came naturally to you, and Jumin’s contrastingly natural inclination towards the habit somehow made it feel even harder. You had both settled it early on in your marriage then, that neither of you felt the need to celebrate special occasions with them. Partly because you didn’t want Jumin to spoil you, but also because it took the pressure off. Rather, gifts would remain as a small habit whenever the desire took hold. 

When you had first confessed your difficulty in choosing a gift for him that might even begin to show just how much you cherished him, he listened with patience and affection. His sincere response dispelled all of your stress.

“Every moment with you is a gift to me, my love. One that I never could have dreamed of receiving.” He was never one to lie. And so you settled on a birthday tradition for yourselves: you would both take the day off to spend with each other. 

Mornings are slow and honeyed, suspended in seemingly unmoving time as he holds you close. Though he wakes early in habit, he has no need to rush to prepare for work. He could stay here forever, hearing your gentle breathing and feeling your soft skin. As you walk the ambiguous line of dreaming and wakefulness, he presses reverent kisses to your hair, your temple, your brow. Each a sign of gratitude for the unimaginable blessing that is waking beside you. That you came into his life and saw through to his core in a way unlike any other. The gentle sigh that escapes you and the fluttering of eyelashes are to him monumental, sustaining his soul even after the years spent together. Perhaps even more so for it. 

The afternoon might find you both on the couch, his head in your lap and Elizabeth the 3rd on his. He would have you run your fingers through his hair all day if he could, basking in the comfort and your undivided attention. Somehow always enamored at just how soft it is, you can’t help but smile as you gently card through it. He hums contentedly and his relaxed expression mirrors your own. You can’t deny that you secretly search for glimmers of silver, and he would take no offense at this. Each silvered strand or crease around the eyes a sentiment of your blissful time together. 

If you had taken Jumin’s initial impression as the whole truth of him that first time you accidentally infiltrated the RFA’s chatroom, you would have never imagined the warmth that resides below his serious exterior. But you hadn’t been fooled, even then. You recalled one of his first private messages to you. Complete strangers at the time, and yet he genuinely and innocently declared that you two might make fine friends because of a shared love for cats. 

So you couldn’t be too surprised at the warmth of his love. As glowing embers constantly ablaze, it burns steadily and ceaselessly.
