GK110 came to the gaming hardware market right from the Tesla segment. Computational only.Later, AMD released its fastest single-chip solution, Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition, so NVIDIA was finally forced to make the move. That being said, FP64 is likely used for the reasons mentioned above. I wonder if you can modify ampere to become a workstation card. Maybe if that video card had ECC VRAM, the performance or accuracy would of improved (for 3D rendering) but I can't confirm. The other point to this debate is the lack of ECC VRAM on the GTX 780 / consumer card. Remember that the GTX Titan was also a similar chip (GK110- 400) but had the "Titan driver" to unlock FP64 performance. However, I mention this because this is still common practice (soft limit performance) to keep workstation cards at a higher price. Ultimately, it was better to leave the card as a 780. I hoped it would improve performance in 3D rendering based applications but I was wrong. I don't recall if we modified the vBIOS but I do recall the system read the card as a Tesla/Quadro.

It altered how the card read itself and we were able to install a driver to make the system believe it was a Tesla K20 but it may have been a Quadro (k6000). It's been a while so I don't recall the details. With that card, my brother used a graphite pencil and I believe connected two resistors. Headless works, but is a significant downgrade in usability.Īlso enabling ECC cost me about 5% game performance so I turned it off.

Newer windows 20h1, 20h2 should do a decent job of assigning the appropriate gpu for the task and you can override w10s gpu choice if you right click to display settings then scroll down to graphics settings and select your program or app to override. You also lose normal nvida control panel functionality with no attached display.īut I see you have an igpu so you could just plug your video out cable into your mobo and see what it would be like to run a headless 3090 in no time flat. These limitations are very hardware specific and results can vary a bunch even with different monitors. No tearing, no stutters, just that I have to deal with the limitations of all of the links in the chain. FK8 Honda Civic Type R Tuned with Bolt-ons! How Much Horsepower will it Make?
As we already know from extensive testing in the past, the FK8 Civic Type R has a massive amount of power potential. Without any modifications, it’s pretty easy to get +50HP and +80LB-FT from the K20C through our VR Tuned ECU flash. All of our testing in the past was on stock or nearly stock FK8s, so when we recently had the change to test our tuning on an FK8 with bolt-on parts, we jumped on.
We already knew our VR Tuned system adjusted well to aftermarket bolt-ons, however, we wanted to know just how well it could do with bolt-ons. This specific FK8 CTR that we tested has a full HKS exhaust, Mishimoto intercooler, and Mishimoto intake. With these bolt-ons, the FK8 should have lower charge air temperatures and more total airflow.
Once we got the Civic strapped to the dyno, it made 315whp and 333wtq as a baseline number, which is quite a bit more than FK8s we’ve tested in the past. Surprisingly, the bolt-ons added a decent amount of power without any tuning. After getting a good baseline number, we pulled the ECU out to flash it with our VR Tuned file on the tuning bench.
With the tune installed on the ECU, we did another run on the dyno and the car put down 360whp and 391wtq! This represents gains of 45whp and 58wtq with our VR Tuned ECU flash! Be sure to check out the full video below to see this FK8 in action and the tuning process!

在刚开幕的日本东京改装车展上,除了Toyota发布了号称最强大的B-Segment小钢炮GR Yaris外,死对头Honda也不甘落于人后坐在一旁看对手表演,同场也发布了小改款的Honda Civic Type R FK8,不让对手专美!
这次小改款的Civic Type R算是跟上了普通版本Civic小改款的节奏,除了在外型和内装上有些小修饰外,原厂也号称在机械结构上有明显升级,不过暂时并未对外透露太多详情,似乎纯粹就是不想被死对头Toyota抢完风头,而赶在同场发布这款Honda经典的高性能车款。
根据原厂发布的官图,我们可以看到小改款的Civic Type R在前后保险杆左右两侧的雾灯座设计,以及前水箱护罩的样式上都做了细微改变,同时车尾尾厢盖的上端也加入了一部分的亮面黑色烤漆,并且明显做了一个突出式的鸭尾设计,原本的大尺寸尾翼依然获得保留。
除了外观设计的改变外,日本Honda首席营运官(COO)Kimiyoshi Teratani也在现场对媒体强调,这次小改款的Civic Type R会在机械和性能结构上有所提升,包括改良的引擎散热效率,以及进一步强化的煞车性能表现,还有提升车身的支撑性以提供更好的弯道动态表现。
小改款的Civic Type R将会继续搭载同一具的K20C 2.0L四缸VTEC Turbo引擎,在还未小改款之前,这具引擎拥有320匹马力输出和400Nm的最大扭力,但小改款是否会针对引擎作出重新调校暂时还不清楚。
原厂已经确认小改款的Civic Type R将会在今年夏季于日本本土正式开售,到时原厂将会对外发布更多的详细规格。眼看FK8原本持有的德国纽柏林赛道“前驱车之王”的称号已在去年被Renault Megane RS Trophy-R以7分40秒的新纪录夺走,这次小改款的FK8是否能为Honda再度重夺这个名号呢?我们拭目以待吧!
