Captain's Log ######

It's been several months since I have washed up ashore at Japari Park. I still have not found any clues to the young child Kaban's parents or family. As far as I know, 'Kaban' may not be her real name, and the fate of her family is up in the air. So far, still no signs of the Crew. I have attempted radio, online messages, everything. But as long as I don't have a poppet, I cannot reach my wife. I am starting to fear they have sunken into the sea and elements of the depths is preventing them from resurrecting, and thus, retrieving me. I am grateful, by far, that the locals don't think much of me. If I end up being here longer than ten or so years until my Crew is able to reach me, at the very least everyone will assume I just don't age like the Japanese do. And I am told I look older than I really am anyway. I blame the countless sleepless nights.

I cannot just leave this child Kaban alone by herself. Where are the other humans? Why do the animals here look the way they do? What's with that volcano? Will it erupt? If there is a way at least Demonia can come here, perhaps I can escort everyone off this island before that volcano erupts again. It may be calm and idyllic here, but I cannot help but be paranoid of the safety of everyone here. Especially the child.

To leave the confines of his room is akin to, if not flat out superior to a Christmas miracle, and had it not been for Kabane forgetting to bring Mihai's newest purchase to the door the way the vampire had ordered him to before the ghoul left the building, it's certain that this never would have happened. Yet fate works in mysterious ways, and the neet breaches his self-ordained enclosure to personally roam around the house in search of the pick-up spot the delivery man had texted him about earlier in the day.

There's a limited edition game waiting for him in that box, freshly out of the developers' dutiful hands, and although Mihai remains looking as composed as usual... there is a level of muffled excitement bustling in the parts of his heart that haven't been numbed over the centuries.

It isn't in the storage room, nor is it in the kitchen, and thus Mihai's remaining options lead him towards the lounge next - however, not without first piquing his interest with a foreign item dangling from the top of the doorway. The acknowledgement of what it is, what its intended purpose here is and who the mastermind behind it is happen within milliseconds, and were it not for Hinata's own stroll through the lounge, the vampire may have become the last bastion in the fight against Akira's schemes. After all, he didn't particularly plan on leaving his room again after this venture. ❛ Hm... ❜ Well, whatever.

With an unbothered tone and a movement of the finger signaling for Hinata to come closer, Mihai supposes he can do with a brief intermission in his quest to find the much awaited box. ❛ Hii, look at me. ❜ And as she does, without wasting a single instant, the gamer leans down to capture her lips with his own, the finger previously used to usher her closer now working on gently raising the kitsune's chin higher for the kiss to be comfortable on his back rather than straining. He doesn't hurry to get it over with, though, and instead opts to take his time to enjoy it, keeping it tender over forceful, and there's a gleam in his eyes when he finally decides it's time to part. ❛ Oh, did you drink the pomegranate fruit juice I left in the kitchen earlier? Good taste, I applaud it. The other... tasteless residents never understood my preferences. ❜

A decisive nod follows, one that's simultaneously for himself and for Hinata, along with an allegedly random decision to let her know the whys behind the abrupt kiss, as well as the looming threat of it potentially happening again in the near future if enough misfortune gathered in the same place as the kitsune. If it was just her kissing him, it would be fine - but Mihai's heart almost, nearly pangs for Hinata at the sheer awkwardness one such kiss, or even one such pressure from the holiday festivities, may bring with a sourspot such as Inugami.

❛ I'll let you in on something for that. This building currently has three spots with mistletoes dangling from them, courtesy of that ice kid. ❜ The finger now points upwards, towards the mistletoe joyfully appreciating its strategic high spot as an example. ❛ The kitchen door, the lounge door and the door leading to the hallway. I'd keep that in mind if I were you, and start looking up the next time I decided to walk around the house with those rambunctious fellows around. ❜ With the self-appointed friend duty over with, Mihai glances around the lounge room before returning his gaze onto the kitsune, bringing up a second relevant topic. ❛ By the way... have you seen a brown, unopened box anywhere on your way here? ❜ Relevant for himself, of course.

It was a typical morning for the little park guide. She left Serval asleep back at camp and was currently walking to the nearest watering hole to fill up their canteens. Kaban enjoyed the morning and sunrise looked different from area to area. Today however there’s someone else up and about in the early morning, someone the little human doesn’t remember coming across before. 

“Ah good morning! Are you one of this area’s nocturnal animals?” Kaban calls out to the stranger as she walks up to them. Thinking it would explain why they haven’t met before.

"Mmhhhmm...." Fortunately Josep heard Kaban, so he may as well confirm the weirdness of his speech. "My apologies if I flub my Japanese here and there. I'm from Spain. Though I do not consider myself 'Spanish'." Ewwww, please no. "I learned Japanese from my travels, though my first encounter with the language was.... a very, very, very long time ago. And even then, it wasn't a primary language to learn--just knowing a few phrases here and there.

"The Asian languages I otherwise find easier to speak is Tagalog and some Cebuano. And that was because I stayed in what is Cebu today for about fifty years. Though I did take eight years to get better at Mandarin and Cantonese."
