Thinking of that one fanfic last night I read several summers ago, where a pining yet hesitant Kai was way too smooth, and he ends up flustering both of them.

My honest reactions to my favourite Beyblade ships, tropes and some plot ideas I have in my mind but probably will never see the light

In honour of Mayblade 2025. These are my personal preferences, but I would love to hear yours too!

Yuriy x Kai slow burn from enemies to friends to lovers during G-Rev World Tournament, my comfort Beyblade plot to read in bed with cozy scented candles, comfy pillows and tea

Yuriy x Kai, this time an utterly painful slow burn after BEGA arc, with Yuriy recovering and finding out that Kai really joined the BEGA and Volkov and not wanting to talk to him or have him in Neoborg anymore and Kai going the extra mile to prove to him that he cares and realising he has always cared more than he imagined. No cozy candles, only tissues

Kai x Yuriy (x Garland), with Yuriy and Garland one day being arch enemies and the next being like oooops we kissed in the lift by mistake but we still deeply hate each other and Kai eventually discovering what being jelous means and taking very concrete actions

Yuriy x Julia who ignore each other until the very last week of the World Tournament and then end up in a hotel room and the morning after are both in utter disbelief because "why on earth would I share my space with this Spanish nuisance" and "why on earth would I kiss the most obnoxious blader of the whole tournament"

Yuriy x Julia but this time they end up in the room early on in the tournament as a way to de-stress after a match and writing it off as temporary and based only on physical attraction, but then they start to actually talk in bed and get to know each other better and by the time the final comes they are completely smitten

Yuriy x Julia but with Garland hitting on Julia and Julia giving him an occasion for a split second which sends Yuriy in a spiral of trauma-led self sabotage because she deserves better but then she is back because she fell hard for him and he fell for her too and aaaAAAHHH

Kai x Takao/Tyson as soulmates who have been battling for years and thought it was a sport obsession but then realised they've actually been obsessed with each other

Kai x Hiromi/Hilary in adult life or very late Beyblading days with Hiromi/Hilary who has had entangled feelings for Kai since the days in V-Force but realised it only years later and I am absolutely weak for how peaceful and balanced this relationship has always sounded to me despite Hiromi/Hilary's temper around Takao/Tyson or Daichi

Kai x Brooklyn in a post-GRev World Tournament, there is something twisted about it in my opinion, but I would still read it

Bonus: Boris/Bryan seducing Ming Ming only to take his own revenge for the whole BEGA thing and eventually winning her over one evening and nobody could have ever imagined this but oh my, sparks fly in that room

Who initiates hugs:

Hilary in 90% cases. Of course, whenever she feels excited, super-jolly or pensively sad, she rushes towards Kai and without giving him any chance to understand anything, she wraps her petite arms around his brawny, mesomorphic torso and tucks her face like a baby into his well-built chest, letting the phoenix-prince smell her shampooed tresses-just glomping on him. But in a few rare cases, Kai slowly approaches her, keeps gazing at her without blinking, leaving her totally baffled. Then, surprising her, not hurrying at all, bit by bit, he captures her in his toned arms and pulls her closer-likely into a bear hug, yet a softer one.

3. Who borrows the other one's phone charger:

Kai. Although he's very organized, Hilary is way more organized than he in some cases. In her little handbag, from lipsticks to calculators-there fits the entire earth xD. Why should a phone charger be absent there? That's why, Kai relies on Hilary more in case of borrowing a phone charger than the vice versa.

5. Who's better with money:

Money-managing? Actually, it can be both but...Kai spends a little less than Hilary, ending up leaving some necessary things too sometimes (But not forgetting his face-paint and scarves at all lmao). Hilary takes care of his clothings, accessories and other essential stuffs other than the face-paint and scarves. Hehe.

7. Who's better in the kitchen:

Both are good in various chores. For example: Kai can handle the fire pretty well. Also, he's more patient than Hilary in case of boiling and steaming foods. On the other hand, Hilary can chop veggies, meats, fishes pretty well. She has also a good guess of spices and sugar to be mixed with the stuffs, along with t

9. Who's more laid back and who's more hardworking:

Ray is more hardworking, no denial! He leaves no stone unturned to make his precious redhead feel like a Goddess. Since he's good in cooking too, Salima often remains unperturbed and relaxed regarding the household chores. Ray always gives her a princess treatment (But it doesn't mean that Salima is veryyyy lazyyy). She also helps Ray a lot in the domestic chores and others.

11. The pet they would adopt together:

A mushy, bubbly, round-eyed, round-faced......baby tiger! Since they both wield tiger-type bit-beasts, so a tiger (I know that it's a wayyyy exotic pet) will suit them both as a pet.

(If not tiger, then maybe a cat which resembles a tiger :P)

13. Their love language:

A battle! Be it a beybattle, or a sword-fight, it's their love language. Through the urges to win, through the urges to prove oneself the best, they shower love on each other. While battling, often Salima's lush, scarlet hair goes untied, so does Ray's. They both pushes themselves and eventually get exhausted. Often, the winner places the head of the defeated on his/her lap and they both keep gazing at each other as if the hands of the clock stopped ticking....

15. The cheater:

Salima. It's also canon that she didn't come to meet Ray with the bit-beasts and kept him waiting for all the night, breaking his trust and heart. So even in love life, she's more likely to be the cheater. (Otherwise, how will I call Ray "Ishq mein barbaad?" xD)

Creating a Kaihil baby with @citruscloudsandmoon

Hiwatari Katsumi. Katsu means Victory, Conquer, and Mi means "beauty." She takes the "mi" for beauty from Hiromi's name, and Katsu for Victory. Kai chose that. Fitting coz she ended up champion.

(Kai is like, heh. ofc.)

She's been challenging everyone since she was a baby.

She loves Katsudon lol.

She's got a bright personality, super excitable, and she's adorable and chatty. Also will pick a fight (beyblading dw) with anyone. She's also very intelligent and book smart like Hiromi, but she forgets to think when she gets all worked up.

She has Tala as a coach. Why? Because I thought grumpy coach and bright sunny, yappy child is funny. When she was younger and getting in trouble, he'd pick her up by the scruff of her shirt like a puppy. I don't know Russian, but he probably made up a very funny but endearing nickname for her.

As I was drawing, I was getting more ideas for their dynamic. Like first meeting, she challenges him straight up. I feel like Tala would find training a kid kind of healing after his own experiences with Boris.

Her bit-beasts vary. In an AU where Gou doesn't exist, she gets Suzaku. In an AU where Gou exists, she gets Wolborg. (I don't know if she's older or younger.)

Idk. I just wanted a baby girl for Kaihil since there's so few female bladers.

The reason why she ended up so talkative is because of Hiromi. Hiromi was always talking to her since she was in the womb. She'll talk at a million miles per hour. She ended up very empathetic and an all around good kid bc of Hiromi's attentiveness.

I feel like she's pretty stubborn, that's why you need Papa Kai to make her listen. I also feel like Kai's favorite after work activity is beyblading with her. Also I feel like he'd be hilarious with his dad humor. He'd put on a sign on his office, when she comes to bug him during work hours.

"Do not enter unless you need something urgently." And 5 year old Katsumi would put her little hands on her hips. "This sign does not stop me because I suddenly cannot read." And underneath that, she reads. "Yes, Katsumi, you can read."

I initially thought she'd make a great next gen antagonist, but she doesn't have the trauma because Kaihil are great parents. She's also a yapper, so next gen protagonist.

I haven't thought of anyone else's interactions with her.

Thanks for tagging! Anyway, here we go.

1. 3 ships:

my love for Tsukushi/Tsukasa has seen a revival recently

KaiHil is an always. Even when I want to step away from shipping them in everything, they always find a way.

Literati from Gilmore Girls continues to sail after all these years.

I can usually find a ship in anything I watch or read, and I can never seem to abandon them.

2. first ever ship:

Probably me with some cartoon I watched as a kid. But the first one I can remember and name is KaiHil or Kai/Hiromi (probably why it doesn't sink. it's like my black pearl)

3. last song;

I was scanning through songs on my way to work but the last song I picked was by Paramore I do believe. They work for any situation.

4. last movie;

Ohh movies are tough. I don't watch a lot of them, but I watch a lot of movie reactors on youtube, does that count? ... the last movie I went to see in theaters was Barbie. I gave it a 6/10. the ending was nice but there were other points I wish had been better.

5. currently reading;

It feels like a lot but nothing at the same time. I'm very slowly re-reading Sempre (Forever) by J.M Darhower (side blog for that here: @carmineshummingbird), and I'm trying to get into Peter Pan for the 3rd time

6. currently watching;

Fruits Basket, when I have the chance (I guess a lot of my old interest are having a revival?); And Masterchef season 13 with my mom.

7. currently consuming;

Iced coffee all day, every day (and sometimes a ginger ale). And water.

8. currently craving;

Sweets are my weakness. I like pastries, cakes, breads, gummies, chocolate. I do attempt moderation because I know I'm better without it, but yesterday someone gave me a loaf of homemade pumpkin and chocolate chip bread. So I'm currently feeling very satisfied.

9 I also only have two people I could tag (because I'm such a lurker)...
