all these new issue stories and ben probably supporting jay when he has a breakdown... the r*pe story isn't gonna be revisited is it. nothing about how ben and callum are doing being back together. nothing about sexual intimacy and triggers. just back to what it was like before like it never happened. aftermath only matters if its chris's stories huh.

i mean it doesn't matter then either half of the time. there was literally no aftermath to kheerat's arrest and the month-long domination of the panesars. they literally went on holiday the next episode and their sl got dropped immediately. amy's sh had a slow burn start, disappeared completely for weeks and then went full-force within like two weeks. the carters had two great episodes of aftermath and then got carted off screen so they don't have to focus on the aftermath and grief for these characters. the horrible pacing and lack of decent aftermath is everywhere not just with ben's sl

Suki Panesar/Eve Unwin vs Suki Panesar & Nish Panesar [08/??]

One of the things I’ve always loved about the Sukeve and Nish storyline is the way that the show has carefully constructed the contrasts in Suki’s relationship with Eve and her relationship with Nish, be that through writing/directing/actor choices.

Nish sees Suki only as the good little wife who promotes his image in the community as a family man with family values. Suki built the empire he presented her with when they were first matched, and whilst he presents a complimentary front on certain occasions when this is raised ("Well, Sukhwinder and Kheerat had a large part to play in that"), it is always in front of other people, where he wants to portray a generous façade. In reality, it's clear that he resents that Suki flourished in his absence, and he takes whatever opportunities he can to keep her small and compliant, reducing strength to a physical characteristic and wresting all power and control of the businesses away from her.

Eve, by contrast, has spent the past year getting to know Suki on an intimately personal level that she has never let anyone else see before, not even Honey. Eve is well aware of the struggles that Suki has faced during Nish's twenty years of imprisonment, and she understands the strength that Suki has had to summon to keep her family afloat. Whilst some of that was ruthless and unpalatable, Eve has always admired her drive and is always there to boost her confidence when she needs it.

You know you have the emotional depth of a birdbath when everyone's in their feels about Lola's storyline, while you're laughing your arse off at the sight of Eve slumped drunkenly over a table.

I shouldn't laugh tho really. She's clearly not coping very well with the trifecta of fuckery that is Suki's rejection, Kheerat's anger, and Nish's...y'know, general existence 😋.

Was great to see her and Stace having eachother's backs tho. Platonic wives FTW. They were collectively taking zero shit from the Panesar men that day (and yeah I'm including Ravi in that group).

You could practically feel the temperature in the room drop when Eve met Nish for the first time. Bernie's lucky she didn't get frostbite 🥶.

soooooo….. vinny emotionally manipulating suki just like his dad because he’s got a gaping hole where his backbone should be and is constantly seeking approval and affirmation of his fragile masculinity like…. he couldn’t be kheerat!! he couldn’t be jags!! he couldn’t be ravi!! but he can bottle up that resentment and bitterness and anger at suki’s past actions n let it all fuel him. to mould himself to the only man left in his life that he hasn’t tried to be yet: nish. there is no actual personality there, just a simpering weasel willing to stoop as low as he can as long as daddy pats his head and gives him a gold star, as long as he can keep one foot in the doorway to being worthy in the eyes of those higher up the pecking order

it’s not actually about family, not really, or he wouldn’t be so willing to ignore suki point blank telling him she’s terrified of her husband - regardless of the affair!! bc you take eve out of the equation and vinny still has a mother clearly desperate to get out of an abusive marriage!! but for the sake of being A Panesar Man, vinny will dismiss it and insist she not only stay in that marriage, but tell her she’s disgusting to boot which….. honestly i have no words

jfc!!! there was a sickening lack of empathy, his self-serving vitriol firmly in place just like his dad. he really said “sacrifice your life and health and happiness or i’ll tell the murderer and abuser who terrifies you that you’re gay and in love with eve” and i hope it comes back to bite him on the ass because his actions are only gonna get so much worse from here
