A COMPARISON OF THE DIFFERENT KIA SELTOS 7-SEATER MODELS: WHICH IS THE BEST FIT FOR YOU?
Delivering sporty performance and enhanced features, Kia Motors has been one of the top car manufacturers in the industry. Among many of the models in its line, Kis Seltos is one of the popular ones initially introduced in 2019.
Kia Seltos depicts confidence-boosting safety features, modern design, and passenger-focused amenities, sure to support life’s everyday demands. Today, if you look at the model lineup, it is available in two main trims lines - Tech-Line and GT-Line.
Diving deeper, these two trim lines are again subdivided to present five and two sub-variants, respectively. Hence, with that many options, we understand the difficulty while making a single choice.
KIA SELTOS TECH-LINE AND GT-LINE: WHAT'S DIFFERENT?
These two distinct style Tech-Line and GT-Line has a lot to offer as a compact SUV. But what's so different between the two models? And which fits your budget the most?
Exterior Design
At first glance, it is difficult to tell those two models apart. For a second, they both have LED headlamps, DRLs, a knurled chrome grille up front, LED tail lamps at the back, and body cladding all around. So what's different?
Well, the GT Line model has badges on the front grille. Likewise, it has a fancier set of alloy wheels, accents in the door sills, and front and rear skid plates.
However, the Tech Line has front and rear skid plates with 17-inch 'hyper' metallic alloy wheels.
Interior Design
Like the sporty exterior look, GT Line has a sporty interior with an all-black color scheme and red stitching. This red stitch will be around the seats, gear lever, and steering wheel.
Similarly, its driver's cabin is filled with dual-tone cabin, alloy pedals, and beige upholstery. Furthermore, the bottom of the steering wheel is added with the GT Line logo.
As for Tech Line, it has a dual-tone theme with a black and beige color scheme. Here, the leather upholstery has a honeycomb pattern and the Seltos logo at the bottom of the steering wheel.
Powertrains
Taking about performance and engine, the GT Line features a racier 140hp, 1.4-liter turbo-petrol motor. However, the Tech Line comes with 1.5-liter engines – 115hp naturally aspirated petrol and 115hp turbo-diesel.

5 Upcoming Maruti Cars in India
Tumblr media
There are at least 5 upcoming Maruti Cars, which include models like the new Celerio and Brezza facelift coming in next 6-8 months in India
The effect of the prolonged slowdown hasn’t kept the carmakers from introducing new models in the country. In fact, the car companies have been confident that the influx of new models would help them minimize the effects of the sales slump. In line with this, Maruti Suzuki, the country’s largest-selling carmaker launched the new-gen Wagon R, XL6 and S-Presso this year. Soon, the company will even launch the new Celerio, Brezza facelift, Wagon R-based XL5, Wagon R EV and Vitara SUV. Here are the details of these 5 upcoming Maruti cars in India – 1. New Maruti Celerio It is being said that the country’s most popular carmaker has been working on the new generation version of the Celerio, which will launch around the middle of next year. It has been internally codenamed as the YNC and is one of the most promising upcoming cars in India. The first-gen Celerio was introduced in 2014 and got a mild facelift in 2017.
Tumblr media
It was initially available in both petrol and diesel engine options but is now available only with the former. It rivals the likes of Hyundai Santro, Tata Tiago and Renault Kwid 1.0. It is expected that the next-gen Maruti Celerio would be sold with the company’s 1.2-litre K12 engine that powers the likes of Wagon R, Swift, Baleno and Ignis. The first-gen Celerio became the first-ever Maruti car to be available with an AMT and like the outgoing version, even the next-gen model will be sold with both manual and AMT options. The interior will be more upmarket than before and should come with the company’s SmartPlay Studio infotainment unit. The new model could be based on the Heartect lightweight platform. 2. Maruti Vitara Brezza facelift The Maruti Vitara Brezza has been the top-selling SUV of the country. While it has been highly popular, its popularity has taken a hit ever since the advent of the Mahindra XUV300 and Hyundai Venue. Maruti has, however, taken full notice of this and is working on giving its sub-4-metre SUV a facelift.
Tumblr media
This facelift will aim to help the model regain the lost popularity. It will also help the Brezza continue in the market for a couple of more years before the company releases an all-new model to replace its current best-seller. The facelift is likely to launch in the coming weeks. The Maruti Vitara Brezza facelift will feature and updated front fascia, which will sport a new bumper, sportier grille and updated headlamps with LED projector and DRLs. The side profile will remain largely unchanged, save for the introduction of new design alloy wheels. The rear-end will also see some changes. These will include a set of updated taillamps and a revised bumper. The interior should come with new features and help the SUV take on fresher SUVs like the Hyundai Venue and Mahindra XUV300. 3. Maruti Nexa Wagon R Earlier this year, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd launched the XL6, an Ertiga-based MPV that is being sold through the NEXA chain of premium retail outlets. However, the company’s strategy to come up with more premium versions of its existing models won’t stop at the recently launched offering.
Tumblr media
Next, the company will launch a new model based on the Wagon R. It is being expected that this car will be dubbed as the Maruti XL5 and will be a replacement for the Ignis. While the Maruti Wagon R is available with 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre petrol engines, the Maruti XL5 will be available only with a 1.2-litre engine option. It will be available with both manual and AMT options. Also, its cabin will be more premium than that of the Wagon R and will come with more features. Like the XL6, it should come with an all-black colour theme. There are even some rumours that this model will be responsible for the resurrection of the Stingray moniker. 4. Maruti Wagon R EV In case you have been following the developments in the Indian car market, Maruti Suzuki has been testing several examples of the Suzuki Wagon EV on the Indian roads. While the Japan-spec model isn’t India-bound, what’s for sure is that the EV spotted several times this year will be collecting valuable data for the development of the India-spec model. The production version of the Wagon R EV will share its EV powertrain with Toyota.
Tumblr media
The prototype being tested in India made its India debut at the MOVE Summit in September 2018. The electric vehicle gets its power from 72-volt system with a 19-25 kWh battery. The production model will be based on an updated version of the current model, which is underpinned by the company’s lightweight platform. 5. Maruti Vitara (Creta Rival) The Vitara SUV is one of the most popular models of Suzuki in the international market. And now, it finally looks like the company will re-introduce the Vitara SUV in India in the form of the next generation model. While the company has been earlier spotted testing the current model on Indian roads, it may be noted that this version is in the last leg of its lifecycle and hence, it doesn’t make sense to bring this model to our shores. The next-gen version, however, will compete with the likes of Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos on battleground India.
Tumblr media
The next generation Suzuki Vitara that is India-bound will sport a completely new exterior design that will help the SUV look bolder and more modern than the conservatively-styled current model. The interior will be more premium as well and will come packed with features. The new SUV will be sold with both petrol and diesel engine options. Launch is likely to happen in late 2020. A 7-seater model could also be in the pipeline. Read the full article

It's true that the Auto Expo 2020 is not as big as previous editions, participation wise. But that definitely doesn't mean it's any less of grandeur. Brands who are participating have gone big at the biennial motor show with plenty of new unveils, showcases and some key launches. As always, concepts have added to the elation as well and majority of them will actually make it to production. We bring you the top five concepts that excited us the most. There will be both ICE and electric iterations of the production spec version of the Futuro-e. First up is Maruti Suzuki's Futuro E Concpet unveiled at the Auto Expo 2020 which actually is quite a versatile concept and will be wearing different hats in Maruti's future line-up. There will be both ICE and electric iterations of the production spec version on offer, so expect the BS6 compliant 1.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol motor to make its way under the hood of the SUV when we get to see the final model. That said, there is still no word on the 1.5-litre diesel motor, given Maruti's uncertainty to continue with diesel powertrains post BS6 regulations. The new concept demonstrates a bold new design language and a coupe-SUV bodystyle with a slanting roofline that sweeps towards the end, falling onto the exaggerated haunches. The overall proportions too give it a bold stance, and a butch face adds to the robust appeal. Also Read: Auto Expo 2020: Tata Sierra EV Concept Revealed

5 Cars We Want Kia-Hyundai To Launch In India
Hyundai and Kia are currently the second and third largest carmakers in the country respectively, and we would love to see the Korean carmakers bring their international offerings to India
Hyundai Motor Group is not only the largest car manufacturer in South Korea, but it is also one of the biggest carmakers in the entire world. The group was officially formed when Hyundai purchased 51% of Kia Motors, the second largest automobile manufacturer in South Korea, back in 1998.
While Hyundai launched its first product (Santro) in the Indian market in 1998, its subsidiary Kia Motors’ first offering, the Seltos SUV made its debut in the country late last year. All the products that the two brands currently have in their Indian line-ups are performing well in their respective spaces, and with a combined market share of about 22%, we feel that Hyundai and Kia should expand their presence across more segments in the country.
Here is a list of 5 cars that Kia and Hyundai offer in other foreign markets, and we wish were brought to the Indian market asap –
1. Kia Telluride
The Telluride is Kia’s flagship SUV offering, and is an exclusive product for the US market. The car can be had with either a 7-seat or an 8-seat layout, with captain seats available in the second row of the former. Under the hood, the Telluride draws power from a naturally aspirated 3.8-litre V6 petrol engine that puts out 291 hp power and 355 Nm torque.
The said motor comes paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels as standard, while an all-wheel drive system is also optional. At a base price of USD 31,890, the Telluride is truly a bargain, and could serve as a premium alternative to the Ford Endeavour and the Toyota Fortuner if brought to the Indian market.
2. Kia Sorento
Kia recently revealed the next-gen version of the Sorento SUV, which carries a lot of design cues from its bigger sibling, the Telluride. It sports the tiger nose grille up front, flanked by LED headlamps. At the rear, the tail lights draw inspiration from the Telluride, while the new bumper houses twin faux exhausts.
The Sorento will be powered by a 2.2-litre diesel motor producing 199 hp, along with a 1.6-litre petrol engine with hybrid powertrain with a combined power output of 227 hp/350 Nm. The diesel engine comes paired to an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, while the petrol hybrid sends power to the wheels via a six-speed automatic gearbox. If brought to India, the Kia Sorento would be priced around Rs 25 – 30 lakh, and would put up against the Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace, as well as the Skoda Kodiaq in India.
3. 2020 Hyundai Elantra
While Hyundai launched a mid-life facelifted version of the Elantra in the country last year, the Korean carmaker has globally revealed the next-gen version of the sedan. In terms of design, it is heavily inspired by Hyundai’s Le Fil Rouge concept, and features a large cascading grille up front flanked by aggressive LED headlamps. At the rear, the car features T-shaped LED tail lamps, which are connected with a LED strip running across the boot lid.
Hyundai is offering the 2021 Elantra with a 2.0-litre petrol engine that comes mated to a CVT, and produces 147 hp power and 179 Nm torque. It also gets a 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, which is coupled with a 32 kW motor, and has a combined power output of 130 hp, and a peak torque rating of 264 Nm.
Since the Elantra facelift was launched in the country in October last year, we do not expect the next-gen model to be launched anytime before 2021. When it does arrive here, it will retain its rivalry with the Honda Civic and the Skoda Octavia.
4. 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe
The Santa Fe was discontinued from the Indian market back in 2017 due to poor sales. Internationally, the SUV has received a new-gen model, which drops its classy appeal for a more quirky and sportier look. It gets a 2.4-litre NA petrol engine that makes 185 hp, along with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit that puts out 235 hp power. 8-speed automatic transmission and a front-wheel-drive setup is standard, while an all-wheel-drive configuration is also offered as an option.
The car comes with features like a 12-speaker Infinity audio system, a panoramic sunroof, all LED lights, 8-way power-adjustable front seats with Integrated Memory System for driver’s seat, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, surround-view monitor, a heads-up display, a 7-inch TFT LCD multi-info display, BlueLink connected car tech, and much more.
5. Hyundai Palisade
The Hyundai Palisade shares its underpinnings with the Kia Telluride, however, it features Hyundai’s Sensuous Sportiness styling theme. The interiors are unique to the Hyundai SUV as well, and seem slightly more premium than the Telluride. Under the hood, the Palisade uses the same 3.8-litre V6 engine as the Telluride. However, the Palisade comes with an all-wheel-drive configuration as standard across the range.
The Palisade has been priced from $31,550 onward in the USA, which is on par with its cousin, the Kia Telluride. Sadly, there is no confirmation from Hyundai about an Indian launch of the Palisade, since the carmaker is currently focusing on mass-market offerings.
As of now, Hyundai Motor India Ltd retails products in the range of Rs 4.57 lakh (entry-level Santro) to Rs 26.97 lakh (top-end Tucson), while Kia Motors India offers only two products, the mid-size SUV Seltos, and the Carnival MPV, which are priced between Rs 9.89 – 17.34 lakh and Rs 24.95 – 33.95 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom) respectively. The aforementioned cars could help the Korean manufacturers to widen their respective line-ups in the country.

Toyota’s been elevating plenty of eyebrows with its new sub-four-metre SUV, the aptly named Raize, which is a world mannequin. The compact SUV, which is on sale in Japan, is a badge-engineered sibling to the Daihatsu Rocky that had been unveiled earlier on the 2019 Tokyo Motor present. We take a more in-depth take a look at the Toyota Raize and pinpoint its relevance for the Indian market.
It’s technically Toyota’s first ‘compact SUV’
The Toyota Raize is just not the model’s first SUV that is below 4 metres in size. In its home market, Toyota makes loads of Kei vehicles, which adhere to Japan’s legal guidelines for small vehicles (below 3.4m in size, a 660cc engine producing no more than 64hp, and so forth). What makes the Toyota Raize considerably distinctive is that its 3,995mm size, 1,695mm width and 1,620mm peak make it about the identical dimension because the Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Tata Nexon. The Raize’s 2,525mm wheelbase and 185mm floor clearance is on par with the section too, as are the 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels on supply with the top-spec variants (decrease trims get 16-inch metal wheels or alloys).
While the Raize isn’t the primary Toyota to be based mostly on the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) platform – a low-cost by-product of the modular Toyota New Global Architecture for rising markets – it’s model’s first SUV to be underpinned by it. The key phrase right here is ‘rising markets’ however more on that later.

It’s acquired a turbo-petrol engine
For the Japanese market, the Raize is powered by a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine (one other apparent indication that this Toyota is just not a Kei car). This 996cc engine is tuned to provide 98hp at 6,000rpm and 140Nm of torque at 2,400-4,000rpm and comes paired to a CVT automated gearbox. To put these numbers into perspective, the Venue’s and EcoSport’s 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engines make 120hp/172Nm and 125hp/170Nm, respectively, whereas the XUV300’s and Nexon’s bigger 1.2-litre turbo-petrols produce 110hp/200Nm and 110hp/170Nm, respectively.
What the Toyota Raize does get, a minimum of for the Japanese market, is an optionally available four-wheel-drive system, which is a typical characteristic on small Japanese vehicles. On the WLTC driving cycle, the 2WD mannequin is rated at 18.6kpl whereas the 4WD is rated at 17.4kpl, due to the engine start-stop system that comes as commonplace.

It’s actually fairly feature-rich
When it involves the options, know-how and creature comforts on supply, the Toyota Raize is undoubtedly well-kitted. Safety options embody six airbags, traction management and electrical stability management, ABS with EBD, hill-start help, lane hold help, a blind spot monitoring system, adaptive automated headlamps with a static bending perform, entrance and rear parking sensors, autonomous braking, a 360-degree digicam and rear cross visitors alert.
Lower-spec variants include a free-standing 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system that takes delight of place on the black-and-silver dashboard, although higher-spec trims get a bigger 9.0-inch unit. Both get Apple CarPlay compatibility and Toyota’s Smart Device Link connectivity suite (which incorporates Bluetooth and different types of smartphone integration). Toyota’s navigation app – T-Connect – can be on supply with each methods.

Toyota presents a alternative of eight monotone paint finishes – white, black, silver, pink, beige, yellow, darkish blue and turquoise – together with three dual-tone shades – silver and black; white and black; and turquoise and black.
It’s sensible (for its dimension)
Toyota says they’re focusing on prospects who need to drive an SUV, who need to load their vehicles with plenty of baggage, but in addition want the car to be compact and simple to drive. In an effort to satisfy this temporary, the Raize comes with a 369-litre (a bit bigger than these of like-sized compact SUVs in India) and 60:40 break up folding rear seats. To add even more practicality to the boot space, there’s a movable (and detachable) deck board that liberates more area. There are additionally loads of cubbies and storage areas throughout the cabin to carry cups, bottles, smartphones, sun shades and even sneakers.
What this implies for the Indian market
It is unlikely we’ll see the Toyota Raize on India roads, but when it did make it right here, it might have competed in opposition to the Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. Toyota and Suzuki are already engaged on a variety of fashions for India below a brand new partnership that can see the latter present the Vitara Brezza compact SUV, Ertiga MPV and Ciaz sedan to the previous, similar to the Baleno grew to become the Glanza.
The excellent news is that the DNGA modular platform, particularly made for rising markets, might be dropped at India, the place it’s expected to underpin a jointly developed (Suzuki-Toyota) midsize SUV that’ll rival the Hyundai Creta and the hot-selling Kia Seltos.
Given that this midsize SUV is anticipated to be bigger than the Raize, it received’t qualify for the tax sops for vehicles below 4 metres but it surely certain will add to the SUV’s practicality.
Stay tuned for more info.
