#King Sadala

What would be the reaction of Sadala's King looked like Goku instead of the general fandom take of having him look like King Vegeta?
Do not speak that evil into the world, "True Prince of the Saiyans" discourse is NOT something we need. Nor is "they made Goku even more special". lol He really can't possibly look like Vegeta though. Vegeta's bloodline only took power after a violent civil war., and that never happened in the development of the U6 Saiyans. Plus, Cabba almost definitely would have reacted very differently if Vegeta or Goku showed up looking like his king, given his willingness to note the similar personality Vegeta has.

I mean this in the absolute nicest way possible:
You cant forget instinct. Thats why theyre called instincts. Theyre INSTINCTUAL.
I feel like some people misinterpret gokus head injury as a child. He forgot he was a saiyan. He forgot his parents. But it didnt get rid of his natural "saiyan instincts."
Saiyans were ruthless because thats the path they ended up on. Take universe 6 saiyans. Theyre not planet brokers, but saviors.
Saiyans ARENT inherently evil. Goku didnt have issues as a baby because he was a saiyan... he was violent because he was on a new planet with nothing familiar. No parents. No brother. No home. Just a strange old man and things he didnt understand.
So he threw tantrums. Like any child would. And they seemed worse because he wasnt human.
You can lose instincts over time. But Goku didnt lose his saiyan abilities or instincts at all. Theyre still there. He lost his memories. It was his saiyan instincts that kept him alive when he was alone in the woods for all those years.
The saiyans believe theyre superior through years and years of fighting and brokering planets. If their original planet, sadala, hadnt blown up then maybe they would have ended up like the universe 6 saiyans, fighting to save rather than destroy.
But it did blow up. So they had to fight for another. And then king cold made everything THAT MUCH WORSE by basically enslaving the saiyans to work for him. And then later, frieza.
If saiyans were "evil" then vegeta would have no capacity for good at all. And Goku losing his memories wouldnt have mattered. But they arent. Not inherently anyway.
Dont get me wrong. Theyre ruthless and cunning and can be downright terrifying im sure. Thats all from their intense instinct for battle. Its what they do with that that makes them flawed and could have been different.

Saiyan Squad AU outline (part 2) ⭐️
part 1
Vegeta, Nappa, Raditz, and Kakarot form a squad and fight in a war between Frieza and what remains of the Saiyans.
At some point early on, they land on Vampa, where they find Broly.
Broly’s father, Paragus, was banished to Vampa after he was accused of working with Frieza. As further punishment, Broly was sent with him so the two would surely die on the planet together. They managed to survive and Paragus swore revenge. Before the squad arrived, Paragus had presumably abandoned Broly. When Broly meets Raditz, Kakarot, Nappa, and Vegeta, they right away recognize his immense power and take him in.
The Squad travel space and go on mission after mission, trying to find a new planet call home and bring down Frieza’s empire.
As king, Vegeta is the self-declared leader and the angry, arrogant gremlin we all know and love. Since they’ve known him since childhood and practically grew up together, Raditz and Kakarot are pretty casual with him and call him names like “boss” or “Geets”, which annoys Vegeta. He also hates how he turns out to be the shortest among his team of giants. Also, after being forced into being a child king, held hostage, and having his world and people mercilessly slaughtered, Vegeta is (understandably) hell bent on killing Frieza himself. He also strives to rebuilding his kingdom to its former glory and becoming the strongest king there ever was.
Raditz is a sarcastic (not so) little shit and the stressed, tired older sibling of Kakarot. He always picks on his idiot little brother and bemoans about constantly looking after him (but let’s face it he does care about his baby brother). He himself is a hot mess who somehow gets into trouble a lot and loves chaos (when it’s done to someone that’s not him, that is).
Ah, Kakarot…he’s essentially still our beloved goofball himbo. He aspires to being a great warrior and may come off as intimidating due to his strength, gruff appearance, and wild nature at first, but Kakarot is surprisingly friendly, kind-hearted, and not as gung-ho on killing as most Saiyans would be. He’s laid-back, happy-go-lucky, and loves a good time. To him, the whole team is his family and his idea of a mission is exploring like he’s on a fun field trip. Kakarot is weaker than his teammates and his demeanor doesn’t make it any easier, so he’s seen and treated as the runt of the bunch. He makes up for it with his loyalty and hard-work ethic. If he is intimidated or attacked, he will fight. He also doesn’t like being mocked. Kakarot tries to be an ideal Saiyan, scary and tough as nails, but his good nature always somehow comes out.
Nappa is basically the Team Dad. He trains and looks after Vegeta, Raditz, Kakarot, and Broly from young ages (so it’s no wonder he ends up bald as a melon so soon). He’s essentially a more butch version of Ginyu; rough but still very flamboyant. He would exercise to The Village People and kick back and happily watch his boys raze a whole city. As you can guess, he’s not a very responsible parental figure.
Broly is the newest recruit and the wild card. He normally keeps to himself and is very quiet, so when chaos erupts (as it almost always does) he usually just watches or casually plays a small part. He’s just glad to be a part of something. But by no means is he all that harmless. If he’s called into action or when things get hairy, you might want to start running. He’s basically a nuclear bomb crossed with an elephant.
The Saiyans come across Earth by happenstance. Kakarot crash lands there after being chased by Frieza’s men. His pod and scouter are both badly damaged in the wreck, so he explores around while finding a way off the planet or at least contact his squad. Along the way, he finds the four star dragon ball. He doesn’t know what it is but he thinks it’s neat and it reminds him of Planet Sadala. He does also get chased after by Frieza scouts and encounters the Red Ribbon Army (who are attracted by his new souvenir and they steal his totaled pod). With all the havoc going on around him, he of course attracts the attention of the Z Fighters (Yamcha, Tien, Chiaotzu, Krillin, Roshi, and Bulma).
Kakarot does cross paths with the Ox King & Chichi also and an accidental marriage proposal still takes place, but Kakarot doesn’t understand it at first because Saiyans do not practice marriage and are not that familiar with ‘dating’, ‘boyfriends/girlfriends’, ‘husbands/wives’ or weddings (the closest they have is a very small formal ceremony practiced only by Saiyan royalty). When it’s explained to him and Kakarot realizes he’s technically chosen Chichi as his mate, he’s…thrilled. She’s a cute princess who can use a giant fan as a weapon like it’s nothing and she’s a hell of a cook. She’s pretty much his dream girl.
There’s also Vegebul & Launchitz, but I might go into detail in another post.
On a random, fun note, Nappa and Master Roshi strangely become sort of friends. They’re both bald senseis and they love exercise videos (Roshi for perverted reasons, Nappa actually does like them for fun exercise)

AS PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED, THE FIC HAS BEEN COMPLETED BEFORE DBL UPDATED THE STORY, AND HERE IT IS
This is basically my take on how an interaction went from Giblet’s side of things. Only a few very very minor changes were made to the dialogue, but otherwise what they say is the exact same in-game.
Kami, this game is making me feel things.
- UNTIL THE END -
SPOILERS AHEAD FOR PART 15: NO WAY OUT! THE LAND TREMORS
So that was it.
Zahha was wished back to Earth with everyone else..
And Shallot actually believed the bastard would stay put, and not try any funny business.
So be it.
That didn’t mean Giblet was any fonder of the idea, of course, but if the fiend actually decides to use Earth as their final battlefield, then that would be a hell of a lot easier than having to track him down all over again.
…But the more he thought about it…the more he felt an ache grow in his gut—an ache that he hadn’t felt in a long time.
He knew exactly what it was…and that only made it worse.
Uncertainty.
Worry.
That was the last thing he needed right now, though he knew it was most likely inevitable.
Hope for the best…but prepare for the worst..
…Isn’t that how the whole tournament has been?
Giblet reached his hand into his cloak and fished around for the small communication device previously given to him, then keyed in the only frequency he had ever planned to use.
“Shallot. Can you hear me?”
There was a startled yelp on the other end of the call, and Giblet raised an eyebrow. There was still no visual.
If Shallot ran into some trouble, Giblet would at least be able to hear sounds of conflict and battle through the communicator. But there were none.
“Why are you acting surprised?” He asked, half puzzled.
“Oh…right! The communicator!”
The audio crackled a little, and there was finally light and movement on the screen as Shallot retrieved this communicator from somewhere in his armor, and brought it comically close to his face.
“I haven’t used it in so long I totally forgot I had it.”
Giblet rolled his eyes.
..Of course.
“So, uh… What’s up?” Shallot asked, a tone of confusion in his voice. “If you wanted to talk to me, you could have asked that King Kai guy, right?”
Giblet shook his head.
“This doesn’t have anything to do with the others. Hence the communicator.”
He looked over his shoulder to unintentionally emphasize his point, paranoid that someone was possibly eavesdropping nearby.
“Oh? Can’t it wait until we’re at the Lookout?”
“Maybe…” Giblet sighed softly, looking back at the screen. “But who knows what’ll happen by then. So I figured now’s a good time.”
Before the plan changes again…
“Do you remember, Shallot? About what we needed to do back in our own era?”
“Of course I do! That’s the whole reason we’ve both been training our butts off!”
Over and over again, whenever Shallot got carried away with something or didn’t take things seriously, Giblet would remind him of their original goals. It was no new topic for them.
“So…is that what you wanted to talk about?”
Giblet shook his head again.
“No…what I’m saying is…”
He took a deep breath.
Shallot was certainly correct. They have both been training their asses off for the longest time, and now they had great power to show for their efforts.
The power of Super Saiyan God.
It was practically their birthright.
It had to happen sometime.
And now, they had the power they needed to fight back against the Evil Saiyans back…
…back home.
Since breaking free of Zahha’s control, there had been a lingering worry in the back of Giblet’s mind.
A worry that…this all would’ve been for nothing.
A worry that, once they return to Sadala, they won’t be as strong as they were now. Like all their training had never happened.
Like they were never brought to the Tournament of Time to even begin with.
A worry that…when they finally go home…
…they won’t retain any memories of anything that happened.
Like this had all been nothing more than a strange dream, fading away into nothing as they eventually woke up.
The allies they’ve made..
The places they’ve been..
How they’d have saved the universe from destruction..
And most importantly…how they’ve managed to become Super Saiyan Gods.
Gone.
He tried to ignore it, of course, and he could never mention it to Shallot. He didn’t need his brother worrying about it as well.
Especially considering that the tournament’s outcome…the fate of the universe…rested in their hands, here and now.
“…beating Zahha doesn’t mean our fight is over. Not by a long shot. Don’t forget that.”
Despite his brother’s warning, Shallot grinned widely.
“As if I could!”
Shallot had pulled his communicator away from his face far enough so Giblet could see the clouds passing behind him.
Judging by the almost-sickening spinning motion of the clouds, it was evident that Shallot was either flying corkscrew or in loops as they chatted.
Giblet almost smiled at the sight of his brother still being able to have such a positive attitude even while danger and death relentlessly lurked around every corner of this damned tournament.
He tried to recall when the last time was that the two of them could just…have fun.
How long ago was that?
The war on Sadala made them turn every free moment they had into a training session.
And being thrown into a killing free-for-all against their will had been a major change of plans.
Sure, they’ve both gotten way stronger since the whole catastrophe began, and now they’ve succeeded in becoming Super Saiyan Gods like they’ve wanted.
But was time still passing normally in their own era?
Would they be too late when they return?
And not to mention the times Giblet had trained by himself, away from Shallot.
Or the times he just upped and vanished to be alone with his thoughts.
He didn’t dare to think about the time when he actually obeyed Zahha’s orders..
Giblet felt guilty.
In more ways than one.
“Hey, uh…Giblet…did you get food poisoning or something?”
Shallot’s question dragged Giblet back from his trip down memory lane.
It was…kind of odd, and certainly random as all hell.
“No? Why do you ask?”
Shallot laughed a bit nervously, and Giblet could just barely make out a few drops of sweat on the younger Saiyan’s face.
“Well, it’s…just that you’re saying all this out of the blue with such a serious face. It’s like you’re giving me your dying words or something!”
Giblet didn’t answer immediately.
He took a slow, steady breath, and forced a smile on his face to hopefully reassure his brother.
“Hmph…maybe I am…”
He knew the grim possible truth would hurt more than any physical injury that either of them have ever had to deal with, so he carefully chose his next words to try to sound at least a little optimistic.
“But there’s still a lot left for us to do. So I’m not looking to get killed. I’m making it out of this alive.”
You can’t promise that.
Not in war.
But I still have to try.
“Heh! You said it!”
Even with the serious nature of the conversation they’ve been holding, Shallot’s exclamation still sounded as bright and determined as ever.
And for a moment, Giblet’s smile turned genuine.
“That’s all I’ve got to say,” Giblet said bluntly. “See you at the Lookout.”
“Right!”
The call ended.
And that was that.
And Giblet’s frown returned, as did the ache in his gut.
He continued to stare downward at the now blank screen of the device he still held in his hand, his talk with Shallot replaying in his mind.
I’m making it out of this alive…
He wished he could promise that.
He wished he could promise his brother, the only family he had, that everything would go according to plan and everyone would make it out alive.
But he couldn’t.
He shouldn’t be worried about it.
He shouldn’t doubt his or Shallot’s abilities, especially now, not when they were so close.
But for some reason, he still felt troubled.
Giblet shut his eyes, and took a slow, deep inhale.
He held it for a moment, then exhaled just as slow.
…Shallot.
I’ll do what I gotta do.
Just do what you gotta do.
And if anything does happen to me...
He let that thought trail off.
What the hell was he going on about?
It’ll be fine.
They’ve made it this far.
He had no plans on dying, especially not to the likes of Zahha.
It was then that Giblet realized just how tightly he was clutching his communicator, and he quickly tucked it away in his cloak before he crushed it by accident.
Damn nerves…
Now wasn’t the time for that..
With his chin up and his eyes to the sky, Giblet set out on his trip back to the Lookout, his mind flying faster than he was.
…It didn’t really matter in the end.
Even if he did have to lay down his life, whether it would be to stop Zahha or the Evil Saiyans, at least he would go down fighting.
For his beliefs.
For Sadala.
For the only family he had.
No matter what.
And no matter the cost.
That was his resolve.
Until the very end.

PRESIDENT PATTI IS HERE!!!
(With and without tail! And yes I know there’s a tiny art error with her eyes, I’m very tired…)
I had a fun idea to make a Saiyan OC from Universe 6, who’s both one of the most famous pop stars on Planet Sadala and the president of a large nation that’s essentially based on the U.S.
(Basically it’s an amalgamation of all the popular and large cities in the U.S. such as- L.A., Miami, NYC, New Orleans, San Antonio, Chicago, Las Vegas, Boston, Portland, Washington D.C., etc.)
My friend @mobiissimo gave me the idea of naming her Patti after the patty pan squash (yes I know it’s technically not a vegetable but hush >:P)
I know the Universe 6 Saiyans don’t have tails anymore, but I feel like if they still did a lot of them would dye their tail fur just for fun and for trends! Patti would be no different!
Some extra lore: Patti is one of the main leaders of Planet Sadala, as there are many kingdoms and nations with their own rulers along with the main ruler of the whole planet- King Sadala himself, and like all the other leaders she helps keep things in order and is powerful enough to protect her nation and her people as she is more than just a bubbly pop star.
She takes her job as president equally as serious as she takes being an idol seriously.
- She’s pansexual
- Her design and personality were inspired off of (early) Ke$ha and Doja Cat
- She is a Libra ♎️
- Has not learned any SSJ form yet
One last thing- Patti and Cabba use to date but ever since she became famous and traveled the world, along with being president- she and Cabba didn’t have time to be a couple so they mutually ended things, since Cabba also had duties to fulfill.

Made a U6 Turles equivalent OC
Name: Kornin
Alias: Jester of all Saiyans/Jester of Spirits
Species: Saiyan (Universe 6)
Age: 30
Gender: Non-binary
Faction: Kornin Commandos
Lore: Under King Sadala, Kornin used to entertain and preform for low class Saiyans of Planet Sadala, giving her the nickname “Jester of all Saiyans.” They were renowned for their wit, trickery, and their performance skills, whether it be storytelling or magic tricks. But their plays and traits were merely a facade to hide her anti-social, cunning, almost manipulative personality and specializes in psychological warfare. Kornin was born with a mutation in that she can see and communicate with the deceased, who then learned by them about the true intentions of Frost, a “ally” of the U6 Saiyans. Angered, Kornin tried to convince King Sadala to not trust Frost, but ended up being exiled to a ruined planet due to King Sadala thinking they were trying to give Frost a bad reputation so that Kornin could gain higher public status. After being banished to what they now know as Planet Necro, Kornin allied with its inhabitants and created the Kornin Commandos, a covert operation team of skilled fighters who try to stop Frost’s plans in secret. Kornin still keeps their ability to communicate with the dead a secret and believes that everyone should deserve a honorable and dignified death and by reviving someone, you are disrupting the balance between life and death.
Techniques (TBE):
Not only can Kornin communicate with the dead, they are also able to borrow and manipulate their energy, which is very different from normal Ki. Kornin dubbed this new type of Ki as “Polter Ki,” an energy only the walking spirits of the deceased harness.
Spectre Chains: Kornin creates wires from their fingers that wrap around the opponent, preventing them from moving. This also slowly drains their life force.
Apparition Bomb: The Polter Ki version of Spirt Bomb. Kornin creates a giant orb of energy that gets stronger the more Polter Ki is lended to it by the spirits of the dead. The attack does more damage if the opponent was recently revived in some form.
Transformations:
Zenkaioken: A combination of Kaioken and Zenkai boost created and perfected by Kornin themselves. This transformation is multiplied by the number of deceased spirits that are currently on the field.

Planet Vegeta (Sadala) timeline headcanons.
Because I'm salty canon slapped together a garbage continuity (*cringes @ the various retcons, inconsistencies, and Episode of Bardock*), but did nothing with it at the same time. CW for death and war and geno/cide and all that; the Saiyans are indeed the Saiyans.
— The Tuffles and Saiyans were native to Sadala & lived on it for hundreds of thousands of years. One can assume they originally belonged to the same "species class" before evolution caused the two groups to split and deviate from one another.
— The Tuffles became more intellectually & technology advanced far quicker than the Saiyans. While the Tuffles eventually built towns & cities, the Saiyans still maintained a fairly primitive hunter-gatherer lifestyle - only difference being that Saiyans typically lived in solitude or in very small groups (typically a mother with her children). There was little sense of community among the Saiyans.
— At some point, a few Saiyans among their kind transformed into their Oozaru forms for the first time upon the night of a full moon. They rampaged worldwide, but the Tuffles managed to protect their civilizations. They had no idea just what those beasts were, but never fully pieced it together that those were Saiyans. For every subsequent full moon, that occurred on the planet every 100 years, the Tuffles devised elaborate protection plans.
— At some point, some Tuffles actually welcomed Saiyans into their territories. However, some Saiyans thought it best to try and steal food or resources from them. They were usually repelled, and the Tuffles collectively lost their sense of hospitality. Tensions steadily built up between the two races.
— Over time, Saiyans grew physically stronger - likely because they had to rely on their own natural skills for survival due to their lack of technology - than the Tuffles with every passing generation. Trespassing worsened to literal invasion attempts, and the deaths of multiple Tuffles with every one. It became a widely accepted belief that Tuffles and Saiyans could and would never get along.
— The conflict peaked when one Saiyan, a female adult named Vegeta, managed to rally dozens of Saiyans together to try and take over the planet. To do so, she and her allies sought to wipe out the Tuffles. The Saiyans launched a coordinated attack, and because each individual's might was greater, the Tuffles struggled to fight back with their weaponry. The battle waged for days.
— Everything was decided when a full moon once again shined down. All of the Saiyans transformed, and the Tuffles had no hope of victory. By sunrise of the next day, the majority of the Tuffle population was decimated. Whoever was left, and discovered, was picked off.
— After this event, Vegeta fought for her right to rule over her kin, meeting challengers head on. As she was the only one left standing in the end of those bouts, it was accepted that she was the strongest Saiyan. She would hold absolute leadership over them and complete control of the world. She renamed it "Planet Vegeta".
— This is where the Saiyans started to become more involved with technology themselves, as they learned from what survived of the Tuffles' culture, and gradually built an advanced society. Vegeta became the first queen. However, the Saiyan's class system didn't come into effect until Vegeta had her first children as ruler sometime later.
— Her eldest child & son, Vegeta II, thought of himself and those of similar power levels so highly that he believed they deserved to be held in a more important regard than those weaker. When Vegeta I grew too old to hold her position as monarch, he followed a ritual of combating other Saiyans who also sought the throne. He was the sole survivor when it finished. The final step was to battle and kill his mother, giving her an honorable death while simultaneously proving his worth. He succeeded.
— King Vegeta II implemented new social divisions based on power. If a Saiyan was pitifully weak, they were now considered low class. If they were "average", they were middle class. Saiyans with excellent strength, he included, were first class or "elite". Treatment based on these guidelines resulted in the elites having first dibs on the best food and resources, while low class Saiyans were given scraps.
— During his reign, King Vegeta II oversaw the development of what became recognized as the Saiyan's scouters and attack pods. Scouters were merely updated from leftover schematics of the Tuffle's communicators, but attack pods were made with the purpose of being able to travel through space. The king saw a future of his kin sinking their fangs into other worlds, to conquer them and take what they deserved as the universe's mightiest race. He formed the first incarnation of the Saiyan Army, having soldiers be equipped with newly developed armor and tools they would need while out on the field.
Nursing capsules weren't invented until much later, when medical care overall evolved further. Saiyan children needed to be born to keep the race alive of course, but it was inconvenient for female Saiyans to stay on planet rearing their children instead of being active in the army. So, technology that would effectively keep a newborn alive independently of their mother was created. It soon turned to literal zygotes or fetuses being removed from the mother to grow in capsules.
A brilliant scientist invented the Power Ball technique, allowing Saiyans to transform without needing to rely on full moons. This in turn established a training regimen that would teach a Saiyan how to control their Oozaru state.
— King Vegeta II did away with the dominion ritual, and designated his first son - Vegeta III - as being his heir & next in line for the throne automatically. This solidified the naming tradition and its association with the royal family.
— Towards the end of Vegeta II's reign / In the beginning of Vegeta III's reign, the Cold family set their sights on their planet, thanks to the Saiyan's rising infamy through the cosmos. The Saiyan Army was forcibly integrated into the Cold Force / Planet Trade Organization (PTO).
That's about it I think. Pls excuse any grammar or spelling errors you may have saw.

Lost Chances
“Prince Vegeta!” The call of his name and title had Vegeta lifting his head from the documents he had been pouring over for the last couple hours. Not uncommon considering maintaining the kingdom would soon become part of his duties. It was coming upon him sooner rather than later with his father closing in on the date for him to step down as king. His twenty-fifth birthday would mark his coronation from crown prince to king, and he wasn’t ready for the day. “You’re late for dinner again, sire.”
“I’m a little busy.” His lifelong servant and friend, Beean, scoffed at his reply. She had always been rather…brash and uncouth. “I’ll take it in my study.”
“The King specifically requested your presence.”
With a sigh, Vegeta set down the pages upon pages of the documentation of the current state of the farm workers and their fields. It hadn’t rained in months and a drought was upon them. Not uncommon in the summer but this year’s season was harsher than those before. Spring hadn’t brought in the stores of rain that it usually did. He was trying to determine if gathering resources off planet was a worthwhile investment.
His tail uncurled with his indecision and gave a lazy lash as he moved to follow Beean out of his study. Maybe it wouldn’t hurt to ask his father for advice. There was a reason every good royal family had advisors. It would soon fall upon his shoulders to determine if his father’s advisors would remain as his own or if he would choose to replace them. Their time was over after all and another age was going to be ushered in. One under his rule. The prospect had always thrilled him when he was little and even now with the weight of an entire civilization soon to be on his shoulders, he was still humming with that excitement. It would surely come as good practice to seek advice now when he wasn’t king to know how to handle such things for when he was.
Being a good king was all he wanted to do. To provide and protect and nurture his people like his mother always told him when she was still alive. His father and grandfather had been more heavy handed in their eras. Civil war had torn apart their last planet, Sadala, under his grandfather’s rule and his father’s own willingness to conquer worlds stained the hands of their warriors bloody. Like all Saiyans, Vegeta liked a good fight but his time of fighting had ended when he turned twenty. He was of the mind that peace was the better option for his exhausted people. What his successors did after wouldn’t be his problem but for his own kingship he wanted to bring his people out of the bloody dark.
It wasn’t a sentiment his father shared and had readily opposed the idea. They hadn’t properly seen eye to eye since he was eighteen but now at twenty-four they had come to an understanding. Planet Vegeta and the Saiyans were to be his to rule in a few months time and while he would appreciate the advice to be given, he would not be pushed around on how he would rule. Peace was not in the veins of his father but it was in his own. He had grown up under the rule of a conqueror and he knew that wasn’t how he wished to live his own life.
The dining hall spread out before Vegeta in the usual sprawling feast that had him sighing. All Saiyans ate a lot but with the drought there was a food shortage. This was a waste and one he told his father several times over in the last couple months. If they could not endure like their people then they were not fit to rule. With a quiet thanks to Beean, he went to take his seat on his side of the table. To the right of his father while Tarble - his brother - sat on the left.
“What could you possibly need me for?” Vegeta asked, reaching out to the food. He would have Beean help the cooks and other servants distribute the rest to their people. It always left him uncomfortable how much his father wasted.
“Someone of great importance is to be visiting within the week,” King Vegeta said. “It’s time you meet him.”
“Another disgruntled royalty I’ll have to begin negotiations with?”
“No.” The severity of his father’s voice had him focusing on the tension within the man. “Lord Beerus is the end all be all of our lives. He demands more respect than you’ve ever shown in your life, boy.”
“Uh, who’s Lord Beerus?” Tarble asked, always horribly curious.
Vegeta didn’t like the flicker of fear in his father’s eyes or the ugly twist of his face in anger. “He is a Destroyer God,” his father said, “and he cares not for the lives of those he deems beneath him.” A dark glare was turned on him. “Show him the respect you have never shown myself or your mother.”
That got his hackles rising and a lash of his tail. He had been nothing but respectful and loving to his mother when she was alive; and even in her death he held a great respect for her. It was his father that had never held respect for anything in his life but the art of war and violence and conquest. If anyone would have trouble holding their tongue and remaining polite with an important guest it was King Vegeta, not him.
“If we’re done with this line of conversation,” Vegeta did his best to control his temper, “I need your input on something, father.”
“We will come back to it,” his father said, “what could you possibly need my input on?”
“Planet Vegeta is facing a drought and I don’t know if it’s right to spare resources to bring water back from another planet.”
“What’s the nearest planet you’d be looking at?”
Dinner was left mostly forgotten as Vegeta laid out his thoughts, worries, and ideas for how to deal with their drought problem. It was far more important than missing a meal. No doubt Beean would make a plate to save for him while she packed the rest away for their people. He would worry about King Vegeta’s important guest when the day of his arrival came closer, a week was more than enough time to prepare.

Snapping awake, Vegeta tossed the covers back as the heat made him sweat. He hadn’t ever had a dream that vivid in his life. Certainly never one about what life would have been like if Frieza had never targeted his people. It had something twisting and sharp settling on his chest. They could have had it all. A life of freedom and prosperity that he had never known until hitting Earth. He could have been a good king in a way his ancestors before him could have only hoped to be.
The quiet night was only broken up by the soft breathing of his wife in the bed next to him. For the first time in years it was too much. He slipped out of the bed and disappeared from the room to sit on the balcony. The draw of the moon never truly went away even without his tail but in some ways grew stronger. There was nothing stopping him from freely admiring it and taking the soothing comfort from it that never could have happened in the past. In some ways his life was better on Earth then it ever could have been on Planet Vegeta. With a wife he loved and two kids, it was a peaceful life he might never have had in the past.
But that dream made him miss many things about his heritage. The crown and legacy of his people being only one of them. His home planet had been a beautiful place. Similar to Earth in many ways but without the sprawling diversity among the natural species. It was a simple place that they cultivated to fit them. He only had faint memories of his own but Nappa had shared various stories throughout the years. Such was the curse of being only six when it was blown up.
Vegeta sighed as he rested his forehead against the railing in front of him. It was a rather chilly night with winter coming but it helped soothe the constant heat beneath his skin. Probably wouldn’t be so cold if he had a shirt on. The thought had him snorting but making no move to get up from his position. A twisted sort of longing curled through him, vines circling his limbs and throat to put him a hold that even his Saiyan transformations wouldn’t be able to break. He loved all that he had now but that dream made him miss what he could have had. What his people could have had.
It was frustrating. Getting a glimpse of a life that should have been his but was stolen from him before he even had a say. His mind had always been his worst enemy and it was proving that once more. Every moment of peace had to be cut through by the self-destructive machinations of a mind that could never settle or rest. It was a trait he surely picked up from his father or something that simply manifested after so many years under Frieza’s rule. Either way, he had yet to find a way to be rid of it. A haunting reminder that he had never truly known peace.
“Vegeta?” Bulma’s quiet call of his name had him sighing. This wasn’t an unusual position they had found themselves in. “Come back to bed, babe.”
She ran her fingers through his hair and she had always served as a balance to the overreaching claws of his mind. The solace that he would forever need. It would be the darkest day of his life when she inevitably died before himself. For now, she was more than enough to uncurl the vines of longing and replace them with the contentment and love he already had in his life.
Vegeta let go of the railing and got to his feet. With one last glance up at the moon, he followed his wife into their bedroom. Where he wrapped his arms around her in their bed and breathed in the familiar scent that calmed his aching heart. This was all that he needed in his life. His wife and kids, and a way to satiate the fight in his Saiyan blood. His chance at being king had long since passed. There was no more Planet Vegeta or Saiyans to rule, just Earth and his family to protect from whatever threat might next come their way.

Dragon Ball Super Manga Ch.30-32
Tumblr media
Last time, Goku lost a match when his opponent, Toppo, kicked him in the dick.  Then he talks to Toppo, who informs him that he knows a guy who kicks people in the dick even harder.  Goku takes that news a lot better than I would...
Tumblr media
With the Zeno Expo concluded, the Grand Minister lays out the rules and stipulations for the Tournament of Power.  He declares the Super Dragon Balls will be the prize, and asks Champa to surrender the three SDB’s he has on hand.  This was mentioned briefly in the anime, but I didn’t quite understand the timing of it.  I don’t know why Beerus is pissed at Champa for collecting them... oh, wait, he was mad at Champa before because he was trespassing in Universe 7 to get them all.
Tumblr media
I thought Goku called Beerus a “slut” in this panel, so I just wanted to put this here for posterity.
Tumblr media
Toppo returns to his duties as the leader of the Pride Troopers, and he helps his team battle some big crab-looking alien.  He needs the whole team assembled for the Tournament of Power, but Jiren is handling a different case on another planet... or he was, but now...
Tumblr media
Yeah, so Jiren not only wrapped up his own mission, but then he flew here to one-shot this monster.  Oh, and he flew here without a spaceship.
Tumblr media
He also has some weapon that compacts the bad guy into a tiny little capsule.  I guess that beats getting kicked in the dick, but not by much.
Tumblr media
Belmod is confident that U11 can win the Tournament of Power as long as they have Jiren on the team, but the problem is that Jiren is too fixated on justice.  He won’t want to leave Universe 11 unprotected, and he wouldn’t want to destroy the other universes, even to preserve his own.  But Belmod knows he can persuade Jiren by telling him about the Super Dragon Balls.
Tumblr media
Hey, look!  It’s Cell, and Mr. Satan’s beating the fuck out of him!  This comic rules!
Tumblr media
This is part of a TV interview with Mr. Satan, and one of the questions concerns evidence of a man who appeared at the spot where Cell was finally destroyed.  I guess that makes sense?  I never really thought about where 17 would be when he got resurrected.  I guess technically he died on King Kai’s planet, but it wouldn’t do for Shenron to put him there.
Tumblr media
Of course, this is just a way to reintroduce 17 to the story while Goku seeks him out for the Tournament of Power.  Dende moves the Lookout to 17′s island, and we see him tell Goku about Uub, just like in the anime, except this version shows us Uub as a little kid.  D’awww.
Tumblr media
In this version, Goku runs into the poachers first, and since he has no idea what 17 looks like, he mistakes the lead poacher for 17, and he takes off the guy’s mask because he thinks it gives 17 special powers.  Okay...?
Tumblr media
So when 17 shows up, he doesn’t recognize Goku because of the mask, and by the time Goku removes it, he has to turn Super Saiyan 3 to keep up with 17′s attacks, so 17 still can’t tell who this is.  Things don’t settle down until Goku talks to him and 17 recognizes his voice.
Tumblr media
In this version, there’s more than one minotaur, which is nice.
Tumblr media
In the anime, I didn’t understand what convinced 17 to join the U7 team, but in this version, it’s Krillin, whom 17 feels indebted to for arranging to have the bombs removed from himself and 18.
Tumblr media
Mr. Satan returns from his TV interview to inform Buu about the Tournament of Power, but he’s already sacked out before he can even explain it to him.  I kind of like this way better. The anime version almost made it seem like Buu hibernated on purpose just to dick the others around.  At least this way it’s purely innocent.
Tumblr media
Gohan doesn’t appear in this preliminary stuff until near the end, so there’s a greater emphasis on whether or not he’ll be able to deliver when the time comes.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, in Universe 6, Cabba recruits Caulifla, and this version sheds a little more light on her gang.  She hijacks vehicles from the Sadala Army, and shares the spoils with the less fortunate.
Tumblr media
She steals a necklace along with the rest of it, and Cabba swipes it back while demonstrating the Super Saiyan form to her.  Then Kale swips it back from him without him even noticing it, suggesting that Kale might be more than meets the eye.  They never try to teach her to become a Super Saiyan in this scene.  Cabba simply brings her along just because the U6 team needs all the fighters they can get.
Tumblr media
Although, maybe he was impressed with the way she did that trick.  I don’t know.
Tumblr media
Finally, we have this part where Vegeta greets the rest of the team while they wait for Goku to return with Frieza.  I’m kind of uneasy with how gregarious Vegeta is being here.  I half expected him to walk up to Frieza and give him a big kiss on the mouth.
All right, that’s everything.  The waiting is finally over, and the Tournament of Power can finally begin.... Tomorrow, because I’m all liveblogged out tonight.  Later...

Tumblr media
The first empress of Sadala happened to be similar to king Vegeta the third. A bold, arrogant, boastful, yet level-headed and clever Saiyan, and a symbol of their pride. She openly took enjoyment at the end of her opponents or the complete submission of them. After all, if her people had ended a race, it only increased the fear the other race would have when it came to the Sadalian. But, if they decided to submit and join their side. It added more explosive power to the race. All that mattered to the empress was that her people strived with freedom and power.
But the empress would never believe that the other races would form an alliance to take her down and the rest of her people. To save them from a complete end, she did not hesitate to give her life in exchange for the safety of the Sadalian race. The other races, not being as barbarian accepted the proposal and took the life of the empress. After all, the Sadalian race had only been following her orders. Since then, the next empress, as she learned from the previous empress mistake, would make sure to increase the popularity of the Sadalian race by helping instead of conquering.

DBS Manga vs Anime Differences: Universe 6 Characters
Notably with the Dragon Ball Super manga, there's a bunch of edits that set it apart from the anime. Same basic plot framework, but a few changes that set them apart. So, I decided to compile some of these changes- the ones that affect the Universe 6 characters (may cover other arcs later, sorry for the U6 hyperfixation moment), so this stuff will be in the U6 and Universal Survival Arcs. The differences range from a few small things to things that completely change the development of the character as a whole- why I rely on the anime canon for some elements in my fics (not saying I don't like the manga).
Anyway, here's what I've grabbed.
UNIVERSE 6 TOURNAMENT ARC
When asked about his lack of a tail, Cabba notes that U6 Saiyans used to have them in the past, but evolved away from them. In the anime, Cabba's confusion seems to imply that they never had tails.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cabba's promise to Vegeta about visiting Sadala is addressed only very briefly before the matches rather than after their fight later on. It is seemingly never brought up again. The Sadalan King is never mentioned until the Universal Survival arc.
Most noticeably, Frost's lore of being a con artist under the guise of a "hero of justice" is completely absent. He's simply a strong fighter within the universe who just happens to be sneaky with a little poison needle.
Consequently, this means he has no pre-tournament connection to Cabba.
His Assault/Charging/Third Form comes as a surprise to the crowd, while he had publicity around it and even an official name for it in the anime. Again, due to the lore being dropped.
Frost does not have reservations over using his True Form and no concerns over strength control (out of fear of killing) with it.
Piccolo's fight against Frost relies on exhausting Frost's energy rather than on a successful hit from the Special Beam Cannon. In fact, Piccolo doesn't use the move at all.
The Tournament is unpaid for Universe 6; the treasure heap from the anime doesn't exist and Frost can't exactly get support for the peacekeeping efforts that don't exist in the manga. Hit is still offered the hexahedron, however.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Frost turns to the poison needles for this reason, to rush the Tournament to the end rather than make up for a disadvantage.
Frost is shown in the end of chapter drawing to be loading his own poison. There's no confirmation if this is the case in the anime as well, but it can be presumed.
Frost and Vegeta don't arrange a zero-rules match.
Vegeta's finisher on Frost knocks him unconscious, so there's no encounter with Hit. There wouldn't be a motive for the assassin to pursue him regardless.
Cabba is able to gain an initial advantage against Vegeta- notably, he uses light to mask his movements (similar to 17 in the ToP). As a trade-off, he doesn't use a Vegeta-stanced Galick Cannon like in the anime.
When Hit opens his eyes upon sensing Vegeta turning Blue, he doesn't spot Goku smiling at him from across the stadium and reclose them.
Cabba doesn't question Saiyan Pride at all, so Vegeta doesn't need to tell him that it means strength.
Vegeta doesn't develop a Master-Student relationship with Cabba.
Hit's Time Skip is noted to have more reliance on a gap in strength between him and the opponent. When Goku's strength exceeds Hit's he is able to cut off skips midway.
Tumblr media
Hit's "Pure Progress" simply increases his power and strength and doesn't increase the amount of time he can skip. His Time Skip never evolves past 0.1 second skips.
Color Manga only, but Hit's blood is shown as red rather than purple.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hit is a lot more expressive and smiles more often during his fight with Goku.
Tumblr media
Goku uses Super Saiyan God before using Blue. As a trade-off, he doesn't use the Blue Kaioken.
Champa doesn't retaliate against his team for losing. There's only an argument between Beerus and Champa when Zeno shows up.
UNIVERSAL SURVIVAL/TOURNAMENT OF POWER ARC
Renso is not mentioned at all. Cabba instead knows Caulifla for her infamy as a bandit and how she's considered "untouchable" by the Sadalan army.
Caulifla's gang is depicted in more detail and is revealed to be more of a Robin Hood-style organization under the surface.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Multiple members of Caulifla's gang refer to her as "sis"; it's not limited to just Kale.
Kale's potential is first noticed by Cabba as she moves almost ninja-like, Caulifla not noticing. In the anime, Caulifla sees her potential simply because she has faith in her due to their close relationship.
Caulifla's ascension to Super Saiyan is skipped over. The only detail given is that she took to it with ease. At least it's not the back tingle thing...
Tumblr media
Kale doesn't unlock Super Saiyan until later in the Tournament itself.
Frost is noted to have some ruling power of an unknown extent, as he and Frieza discuss a shared preference of ruling with an iron fist.
Goku's "hiring Hit to kill him" mini arc is absent from the timeline. Goku considers the Tournament their "rematch", despite him wanting to see Hit's killing techniques (which he cannot use here).
Tumblr media
Frieza and Frost's team up involves more input from Frieza and the two seem to stick closer together. His plan involves giving Frost intel on U7's weak links then prompting him to use his full strength up front to thin out the competition. Frieza gives him the "full strength up front" fake advice in the anime as well, but Frost doesn't really have the chance to apply it.
Frost doesn't seem to have separate motivations for winning the tournament, while he seeks a pardon from Champa if he manages to deal a significant blow to U7 in the anime.
Frost's moves are more up front compared to in the anime. Anime Frost relies more on survival instincts he gained from being on the lam, an experience that Manga Frost doesn't gain. If he needs to escape when overwhelmed, he simply runs rather than using a smoke bomb attack.
Frieza doesn't demonstrate the 100% Full Power state for Frost and only teases Golden to him before his elimination. Frost only sees Golden Frieza from the sidelines.
Frieza attempts to choke out Frost before kicking him off the side to eliminate him while he uses a large energy blast to do so in the anime.
Color Manga choice again, but Frost is shown spitting up purple blood when Frieza kicks him in the jaw. This matches up with Frieza's being shown to bleed purple earlier in the arc, so the blood color seems to be consistent for the species. Frost doesn't bleed in the anime, but if we match his blood to Frieza's, it would be red. (Bonus fact! Full Color Dragon Ball (pre-Super) gives Frieza blue blood.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Frost does not attempt to fire a retaliation attack at Frieza from the stands, so he is not erased separately for a foul. This also means he's present for Champa calling him a "joke" compared to Frieza... straight to his face.
Tumblr media
Hit pursues Jiren by his own choice rather than attempting to take advantage of the Pride Trooper's supposed "dropped guard" after fighting Ultra Instinct Goku.
Hit notes that he has worked on honing his physical attacks' strength and speed so he can rely less on his Time Skip. He is only shown using non-Skip strikes once Goku joins the fight.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hit's coattails are shown to detach from his coat; it's unconfirmed if this applies to the anime as well. The detachment shows his lessened reliance on the Time Skip, as the lack of coattails prevents him from hiding minute twitches in his hands with his pockets or in his legs with the coat length.
Hit's new secret move in the manga causes the opponent's moves to lag behind, while it involves freezing the opponent in time in the anime. Vados even mentions that Hit can't freeze Jiren in place at his current power level.
Tumblr media
Universe 6's slight mini arc about each member having their own part to play is not addressed. As a result, Cabba doesn't have an overwhelming need to protect Caulifla and Kale by taking fights for them to preserve their team's aces. In fact, he advises Kale to stay out of Caulifla's fight with Frieza and trust her capabilities.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Frieza is able to fully pursue his hunting down of the Universe 6 Saiyans and fights all three over time, although he doesn't snag any of their eliminations. In the anime, he only manages to attack (and eliminate) Cabba and threatens to pursue Caulifla and Kale. He never gets the chance to follow up on this, as Goku prevents him from butting into his fight against them. Ironically, manga Frieza attempts to stop Goku from butting in during the U6 fight.
Kale hints to her backstory, noting that Caulifla took her in when she was lost on the roadside.
Tumblr media
Kale doesn't gain a controlled Super Saiyan state, remaining in rampage mode until she fuses with Caulifla.
Kale's rampage drastically cuts down the fat of the Tournament and ends several of the other Universes' mini arcs, such as Universe 3's Anilaza, before they can even begin. Thanks Kale!
Kale's Legendary Super Saiyan state is near confirmed. She's suspected by Cabba to be the "Legendary Saiyan", a demonic Saiyan that appears once in a millennium on a power-increasing rampage until they inevitably self-destruct. Since Cabba and Caulifla know of this myth but not about the Super Saiyan prior to Vegeta passing on the knowledge, it's likely separate from LSSJ.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Vegeta's second promise to Cabba, about promising to restore U6 if he wins, doesn't exist in the manga either. In fact, the two's relationship seems lessened in general.
Instead of being given the Potara by Champa, Caulifla is shown to have secretly pilfered them from Fuwa. Likely an art error but, oddly, Fuwa can be seen with his earrings earlier in the Tournament before realizing they're gone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The hiding spot for the earrings is shown, being stashed in Caulifla's belt.
Cabba's elimination is a sacrifice to prevent Kale's fall and attach the Potara earring to her.
Kale's rampage is seemingly calmed automatically by being fused, rather than learning control.
Kefla's base form is absent.
Kefla fights Gohan rather than Goku and seems to be on par with Mystic/Ultimate Gohan. Due to this fight change, Super Saiyan 3 isn't teased to Caulifla and Kale.
U6's final ranking in the Tournament is third place rather than fifth.
Goku's Ultra Instinct Sign state doesn't make its first appearance until very late in the Tournament. Only the angels, Universes 7 and 11, and the spectating Universes witness it. The remaining Universes likely either have no knowledge of it or learn about it from Universal gossip.
The Zenos' secret test against selfish wishes is not addressed.
The erased Universes are restored at the benches rather than in their home universes.
Tumblr media
AND (mini bonus)
BENCH FRIT
Tumblr media
(I mean, Frost was directly behind Hit once Hit got eliminated, it looks like he's scooted forward. Anyway, I digress.)
AND those are the Universe 6 relevant differences between the anime and manga! Hope to cover a few other differences in the other arcs later but the U6 hyperfixation is too strong some days.

Badagine: Together with you
A few months ago, I made this story on DeviantArt for the BadaGine week 2023 event and planned to upload this on Tumblr, but I have a busy week so I couldn't do it. Fortunately, I have some free time to upload as I wanted. Here is the entry for day 1: Souldmates, set in a Fantasy AU.
Gine has never expect to be marry to Bardock, as Saiyans don't usually marry. They just mate to have children and that was it, as the mother never stick around for their kid. Gine never even know who was her mother. It is even said that King's Vegeta's marriage was a polticial one to have sons that will be heirs to the throne of the Kingdom of Sadala.
As Saiyans are warlike, they usual offer their services as mercenaries for kingdom at war, including their own home king of Sadala. Of course, the only reason that Gine volunteer to be a mercenary is to make her father prove and to earn money for her family, which is where she meet Bardock when she joined his mercenary band. During their mercenary band's missions as soldiers for hire, Gine would get herself into trouble in the battle and Bardock would saved her, as if he was a knight in shinning armor saving a princess. Of course, the reality is they are just solders for hire, and Gine have the idea that she disappoint her captain with her many failures in battle.
That changed one night, when the band were in a town after a victory in battle and were pay with quite a huge reward, with Bardock's close friend Tora give them the idea to go out to celebrate at the local tavern, Bardock decide to have a talk with Gine. She agree, but Gine could hear the whispers of the men that Bardock was going to kick her out of the band for good, and she know this was going to wanted to her.
It was in a alley behind the tavern that Bardock question her with the moonlight behind him, "What were you doing there?!? You're getting in trouble during battle after battle, and I have to got save you! What kind of Saiyan are you?!?"
Due to his cruel words, Gine start crying and bow down, "I'm... I'm sorry, sir! I'm no sure of myself! I just feel our job was wrong! We were being the horrible monsters that the world paint us as, and it didn't feel right! I... I couldn't have the stomach to be merciless! Please... give me another chance!"
As Gine wait for Bardock to shout at her, he calming said, "Gine.... I know this is crazy... but I'm starting to feel the same way...." Gine look up and see Bardock look upset at something other than her as he said, "The first times I save you.... I was angry at you..." Gine get up and step back as he continue, "Then... over time.... I start to noticed the battles were just men fighting over lands that would be recalmed in the future. Also, you start to cause something inside of me. Some kind of feeling of compassion for others that I feel I forgot in the battlefields." Bardock got close to Gine, "Most of all, I have this feeling to protect you." and give Gine a kiss on her lips. While stunned, Gine close her eyes and return Bardock's kiss.
Over time, the two married and Gine retired to lived in a farm owned by Bardock and Gine back in Sadala, with two sons.

Saiyan Squad AU (part 1) ⭐️
The Saiyan homeworld is Sadala (because Planet Vegeta is ridiculous), but its capital city is Vegeta, where, of course, the royal family resides. Sadala itself is a conglomerate of Australia, Asia, and Africa and the Saiyans are a mishmash akin to the Spartans, Celts, Aztecs, and Mongols. Sadala is pretty much like a space version of Australia: it’s a chaotic death trap from its climate and wildlife to its inhabitants. The Saiyans are made up of clans and have a feudal system, but they all serve the one ruling monarch.
Saiyans act as mercenaries and hunters. Like Predator, they are best known for traveling galaxies to find worthy opponents to fight. They’re feared and reviled as a race of barbaric savages.
They also look more animalistic: they have pointed ears, sharper teeth, claws, and some fur on their bodies.
Saiyans have had a feud with the Cold Empire for a very long time. At one point, they were allied together but the Cold Empire looked down at the Saiyans and began to subjugate them, so the Saiyans started resisting which led to all out war. When Frieza came to power, he amped up the war. He killed King Vegeta III but spared his young son, Vegeta III, to make the boy his puppet king/child hostage.
The city of Vegeta’s center is where the royalty live, while its outskirts is made up of the slums the third class inhabit. This is where Raditz and Kakarot are born and live with their parents Gine and Bardock. Gine serves as a cook to the troops and the residents while Bardock is a captain of his own troop. Gine and Bardock both teach the boys about hunting but Bardock is mostly in charge of their combat training. The boys start their formal training at five-years-old and are put in the same unit as young king Vegeta.
Raditz is the atypical rough and crass Saiyan boy, but Kakarot is another story. He inherited Gine’s kind heart and good nature, making him seem as weak by most Saiyans. He’s unfortunately treated as an outcast and subjected to bullying from his peers. However, he’s passionate and hard-working and wants to become a great and strong warrior, like his big brother and dad, so he’s committed to training hard. It pays off and he makes enough progress so that when his father Bardock talks with the higher-ups he’s able to convince them to put Kakarot on the same unit as Raditz and Vegeta under Nappa, Vegeta’s guardian.
The Saiyan-Frieza feud reaches its turn years later, when Vegeta approaches age fifteen. By then, he’s old enough by law to rule on his own and he’s determined to break free from Frieza’s grasp. As Vegeta begins to secure his independence and throne and wiggle free, Frieza has become fed up with the Saiyans and sees them as a genuine threat. The final nail in the coffin is when he and his men consult the Kanassans on the future of Frieza’s reign. A Kanassan oracle foretells that Frieza will meet his end at the hands of a golden warrior, presumed to be the legendary Super Saiyan. Frieza straight away comes up with a diabolical plan.
To everyone’s surprise, Frieza not only agrees to Vegeta ruling independently, he also agrees to signing a truce with the Saiyans and ending the bad blood for good. In celebration, a formal coronation is held for Vegeta along with ecstatic festivities all over Sadala. Every Saiyan is recalled back to homeworld for the momentous occasion. However, Bardock and his troop stumble upon Frieza’s real plan: to get all the Saiyans together in one place, make them vulnerable, and destroy them all along with their planet altogether. Bardock’s team is attacked and killed to quiet them but Bardock survives and despite being wounded he races to tell everyone and save his family.
Bardock barely makes it back in time. Just as he’s warning the others, Frieza’s soldiers attack and Frieza himself forms a Death Ball to strike at Sadala. Saiyans desperately try to fight back and escape, but many are killed by Frieza soldiers and many more as the Death Ball collides and the planet begins to destruct. Bardock fights on while trying desperately to find his family.
During Sadala’s destruction, Gine and teenaged Raditz and ten-year-old Kakarot manage to find a pod, but it can only fit two of them. Gine makes the boys get in and go without her, assuring it will all be fine (she knows she’s probably not going to make it, but at least her children will be safe). Sadala finally explodes into oblivion just as Raditz & Kakarot make it to safety. Bardock barely makes it out in time. Gine doesn’t make it.
The Saiyans are thusly reduced to the brink of extinction as only a few thousand remain. Surviving Saiyans flee to a desolated planet to recover. This includes Vegeta, Nappa, Raditz, Kakarot, and Bardock (who barely made it out in time). Because of his wounds, Bardock is put in a comatose state in a healing tank for a few days.
In spite of the loss of Sadala and the majority of the Saiyans, Vegeta swears revenge on Frieza. All remaining Saiyans are ordered to group up and spread out across the galaxies. The war against the Frieza Empire is to continue by any means necessary. Saiyans resort to whipping up secret settlements on planets and fighting back via piracy and guerrilla warfare. The endgame is to tear down Frieza’s empire brick by brick and, ultimately, kill Frieza himself.
Vegeta calls on Raditz and Kakarot to join him and Nappa on his quest to hunt and kill Frieza. Vegeta initially doesn’t want to include Kakarot, whom he deems a liability, but acquiesces.
Frieza puts out a bounty on each and every remaining Saiyan, most of all on the “so-called King of Saiyans” Vegeta.
And so, the Vegeta Force moves out. But they become known as the “Saiyan Squad”. Vegeta and Raditz don’t like it, but Kakarot thinks it’s a cool name.

sometimes i second guess how deeply political worldbuilding im going on planet sadala but my idea for caulifla was that she became a rebel because she refused to join the sadala defense force on the grounds of the king not giving a shit about his people. which like okay so we might hear that planet sadala is peachy keen, but caulifla's gang is shown in the manga like stealing food to feed to impoverished children soooo what kind of planetary kingdom are you running sir? the saiyans might be "peaceful" but they're still a warrior race and care more about shipping people off planet than social welfare
RIGHT there was also something about saiyan "rejects"? no clue what that means or implies about sadalan society. kind of still sounds like they're assholes
