Ok, this has been bothering my mind, but do you have some kind of timeline on how long you've been thinking about t!kirito? I'm so interested in how much you've developed of this story

so the first *post* i made about it was late october

at which point i was just newly getting back into it, and my only "leads" were a few scenes in the phantom bullet arc

now the thing is this whole situation *actually* started almost a decade ago when little grub ak as a 7-sweep (14 year) old originally got into anime in the first place *specifically because my egg ass got obsessed with that specific arc that just came out in the anime back then (the LN is older)*

like you don't understand the levels of gender envy little me was experiencing back then

so *really* this has been brewing for like a decade because this is actually the original reason i got into sao at all; and considering this was my first "proper" anime (i watched like, pokemon and beyblade and bakugan but those were dubbed and just with stuff like ben 10 and i don't feel like it counts), well...

in hindsight this whole situation is the reason i got into anime at all. because i got gender envy from kirito's ggo avatar as a little grub. and then stopped watching sao because it was considered "cringe". and then stopped caring about "cringe", and then recently decided on a whim to go on a nostalgia tour of the old anime i watched back during the early 2010s. to be hit in the face with nostalgia and seeing things i didn't even notice as a little kid all over the place

and now it just feels like i owe it to my younger self

to prove it right

and i think it was right

way more than i was expecting

so yeah

it started a decade ago and it's because i used to be an egg myself and i found another egg to project upon without even knowing the words to express all this

and now i do

Actually yeah now that I’ve got Yujikiri on the brain. I feel that Eugeo would rarely ever call Kirito Kazuto bc 1. Eugeo met him and grew up with him and knew him as Kirito so it’s just engrained into him at this point and 2. Because Kiri’s fine being referred to as Kirito, it’s actually more strange to hear someone call him Kazuto. BUT. The rare times Eugeo DOES whip out the real name. Kirito gets reeeeal flustered lol

I think Kirito is the only male character I used to see consistently get called a Mary Sue. I've only seen the first handful of episodes of SAO plus the abridged series so maybe my perception is warped lol but man what did that guy Do.

Posts that even do so much as mention the poor guy are scarce as is, but ALL OF THEM that i've seen treat him like he's some kind of shiny new boytoy for gay people or something !! Y'all ?? Does this make NO ONE ELSE uncomfortable ?? How ? The fact that I'm seeing this from the Yujikiri crowd of all people makes me supremely uncomfortable...

He's a child. He acts like a child. He's clearly stated to be the little sibling of the Rulid Trio. His main trauma is shown to be tied to strong abandonment, loneliness and self-worth issues, which he is seeking to heal by forging familial bonds with our main characters, which ends up putting him in the role of a little kid brother.

And people are seeing this character and thinking about how hot he is and the myriad kinks they can associate with him ?? I'm sorry, but what...? The same people who rave about Eugeo being such a beautiful tragic character and how precious his relationship with Kirito is ? Those people ?

Honestly I feel like I just lost a mildly safe space here ( and I say only mildly because some of the shit some people say is extremely alienating to me as an aro person who yes, loves Eugeo and Kirito's non-platonic relationship. but seriously, how do you gayasses manage to uphold the rules of heteronormativity in your gay ship posts ? there's myriads of types of love and attraction that aren't romance ! you can do better at inclusivity ). Even just for browsing around, let alone interacting.

Truly I chose the wrong character to become attached to after my Lycoris binge.
