Language (Part 4)
Part 1 / Part 2 / Part 3 / Part 5 / Part 6
Pairing: Loki x female reader (Y/N)
Summary: Captain Rogers thinks you curse far too much at work so he came up with a way for each word to cost you fifty cents no matter where you are in the Tower. You are desperate for it to stop and go to Loki to see if he has a spell or trick that can help you outsmart J.A.R.V.I.S.
Warnings: swearing lol... obviously?
Tumblr media
"I am truly sorry, Y/N," he says closing the book. He tosses it on the ground near the stack of discarded books and sits back against the cushions. "I honestly thought I had figured it out. Maybe I am useless," he covers his face with his hands.
"You aren't useless," you tell him, resting your hand on his shoulder gently. When he doesn't pull away from you as you half expected, you slide your hand to his back and move it slowly up and down. You can feel the muscles in his back becoming slightly less tense as he relaxes just a small amount.
The two of you sit together in silence for a few moments then you realize this latest spell had no unintended consequences, at least none you can feel or hear. "I don't understand what happened to that spell," you say looking down, your hand dropping to your lap. "It's like it just disappeared, nothing bad happened like with the others."
"The seal didn't hold so the spell never took root," Loki answers. "It doesn't make any sense, it should have worked," he shakes his head.
"Maybe we could try it again?" you suggest hopefully.
"It would be pointless," he dismisses the idea.
"Is it my fault?" you ask Loki based on his quick reply.
"How could it be your fault?" he wonders, turning his head to look at you.
"I don't know," you shrug and look down breaking eye contact with him quickly. "I don't know how any of this works. Maybe I didn't sit still enough or I was supposed to do something I didn't or I messed up the kiss somehow."
His fingers lift your chin gently so you are looking at him. "There was absolutely nothing wrong with that kiss," he says in a tone that leave no room for argument.
A blush creeps quickly up your neck and cheeks at how intensely he is holding your gaze and you lose your train of thought. The corner of Loki's lips curl up into a smile and your mind replays the memory of the kiss in great detail. He leans just slightly towards you and for a moment, you feel as if he is going to kiss you again. The prince sighs, dropping his hand from your skin as he looks away from you.
"The issue is not with you, Y/N," he assures you. "I should have been able to solve this for you but I am at a loss. You should have gone to another member of the team for help." He gets up and walks into his room.
Tumblr media
You stand up and walk to the middle of living room. Looking towards the half closed door, you can see Loki sitting on the edge of the bed. Before you can stop yourself, you knock and ask, "Can I come in?"
He sighs and you look down, thinking he will tell you 'no'. A secund later, the green glow of Loki's seidr surrounds the knob and the door swings the rest of the way open. You walk in and sit on the bed next to him without a word.
"What are you doing?" he asks, assuming you would remain standing when you entered.
"Well... we were having a conversation and it's hard to do that when one person hides in a different room," you tell him.
"I am not hiding, the conversation is simply over," he says without looking at you.
"I'm sorry your highness," you reply sarcastically, "I didn't realize that's how conversations work on Asgard."
"You are more than welcome to spend the remainder of the night on my couch," he gestures towards the open door to the living room. "But I have nothing to add to our pervious conversation," he says and you can practically feel the walls around Loki rebuilding.
"How about if I talk and you just sit there and listen to me?" you ask, "Because I wasn't done with my half of our conversation."
Loki nods silently.
"You are not even close to useless," you tell him gently. He fidgets with his fingers and shakes his head as if he disagrees with you.
"Ugh," you groan feeling both frustrated and tired. "Loki, seriously, how could you think you are useless? You're trying to solve a problem that might not even have a fucking solution. You said so yourself, there aren't any spells designed to deal with technology and especially not stupid issues like the one I'm having with this damn computer." You both easily ignore J.A.R.V.I.S as it activates in the background.
"I kept thinking I was so close," he says and you can hear the disappointment in his voice, "But each time I failed."
"You didn't fail. The spells did and it's not because you aren't good enough to do them. You're trying to use in ways they weren't meant to be used. You're practically rewriting all of these spells as you find them. I know if you were using them like they were meant to be used, not a single one would have failed," you tell him and he finally looks at you. "Loki, I know no one on the team gives you the credit you deserve but you are an amazing... witch? No, you would be a wizard?" You laugh a little, unsure how exactly to describe his magical talents.
"God is fine," he allows a smile to slip free.
"How about magician?" you ask, pretending to wave a wand towards him.
"Absolutely not," he shakes his head but the smile remains.
"I'm not calling you a God. I'm feeding your ego enough right now," you inform him.
"Sorcerer is acceptable," he nods then he motions for you to continue. "You were, feeding my ego, as you call it."
You shake your head and cross your arms, "Well I'm not gonna keep doing it now."
"You should at least finish your thought," he smirks. "I assure you, I am still utterly depressed," he adds with an overly dramatic pout.
"Could you be anymore annoying right now?" you ask, rolling your eyes but you are glad to see the Loki's playful side return.
"Yes," he chuckles, "Would you like to see how?"
"Definitely not," you laugh and reach behind you, grabbing one of his pillows and hitting him in the chest with it. He looks at you, stunned by your action but you might be even more shocked then he is as you sit holding the pillow tightly to your chest.
"Are you trying to start a pillow fight with the God of Mischief?" he asks, his eyes lighting up as a mischievous grin spreads across his lips.
"Nope," you shake your head quickly. "I was umm..." you toss the pillow behind you and look back at him. You giggle nervously, "How about I feed your ego a little more?"
He laughs at your nervousness and says, "That is not necessary."
"Are you sure?" you ask. "I didn't even get to the part where I tell you that you're the most vital member of the team and you're really skilled at magic and-" you yawn, waving your hand as you talk, "blah blah."
"And blah blah, hmm?" he chuckles. "I will give you points for originality, no one has ever complemented me quite so eloquently before."
"I'm sorry, I'm exhausted," you explain. "You must be too, it's so late... or is it early now? Either way, you've been doing spellwork and reading for hours on end," you yawn again.
He yawns in response and you mumble, "Sorry."
"No, you are right," he lays back on his bed with his legs still dangling over the edge. "I could probably fall asleep just like this in a matter of minutes."
"That looks dangerously comfortable," you say, looking down at him and he nods. You see a smirk flash across his face and before you can react, a green glow appears in front of you and you are softly hit with a pillow. You giggle and dramatically fall back so you are laying next to Loki.
"Oh, this is comfortable," you tell him.
"Mmhmm," he nods and puts his arm behind his head.
You close your eyes and yawn, thinking that you need to get back to the couch. "You know, you're a lot of fun to be around when you aren't hiding behind a bunch of walls and trying to act like you don't care about anything or anyone," the words slip out and you are far too tired to take them back.
"You have spent too long here tonight," Loki says. Your eyes open fully, disappointment flooding through you at his words but he smiles, looking up towards the ceiling. "It has become harder to keep myself from enjoying your company."
"That," you yawn, "Is the sweetest thing you have ever said to me." You feel your eyes close again.
Tumblr media
You open your eyes and look around as you adjust to the darkness of the room, forgetting for a moment where you are. You are in Loki's apartment, you remember but not on his couch. You suddenly realize you are in Loki's bed and you aren't alone, his arm is draped across your body loosely. Carefully, you lift his arm and slip out of the bed, trying your best not to wake the sleeping God.
The door to the bathroom is slightly ajar, allowing you to find it easily which you are thankful for. You are not in the mood to accidentally end up in his closet right now.
While washing your hands, you decide it would be better if you return to the couch for the rest of the night. You hadn't meant to fall asleep with him and you couldn't be sure how he would react to waking up and finding you in his bed in the morning. You had become much closer to Loki than you had ever expected, but there was a possibility that come morning, his walls would return.
You enter the bedroom again and quietly make your way to the door back to the living room.
"What are you doing?" he asks and you freeze.
"Sorry, I know you like your personal space so I was going to go back to the couch," you point over your shoulder even though he can't see you in the darkness.
"Or you could come back to bed," he offers, his voice inviting even though he seems half asleep.
You look back towards the door for barely a moment before easily giving into Loki's suggestion. You lift the covers and climb into the soft bed, unsure how much space to leave between you. Loki's arm immediately wraps around your waist and he pulls you closer to him, apparently giving you an answer. You lay on your side with your back pressed against his chest, feeling him breathe slowly when you close your eyes. His legs tangle with yours and you sigh comfortably.
"Who knew you were so good at this?" you mumble without meaning to.
He chuckles softly, "I actually have very little experience sleeping next to someone in this manner. Generally, when I have allowed a guest into my bed, it was for a much more active encounter. Sleep was typically the furthest thing from my mind."
It takes a second longer than it should have for your brain to register his meaning and you open your eyes.
"I think I figured out how to solve your issue," he whispers moments later, his lips close to your ear. "I have been going about this all wrong."
"What do you mean?" you ask in a hushed voice, closing your eyes again. "I thought you said tried everything."
"I have tried all of my spells, yes," he says and you can hear the smile in his voice. "But not all of my tricks." He pauses then asks, "How much do you trust me?"
You run your fingers down the arm he has wrapped around you and interlace your fingers with his. "A lot more than I did when I knocked on your door," you tell him truthfully.

Rewriting my lore for my character. Her name is now Amaranth, but she also goes by Maure (her name while she was in the Grimm Troupe).
Amaranth is not a Vessel, she was born into a normal family far from Hallownest, around 300 years before the events of the game. She grew up in a small kingdom built around and on a series of lakes. She loved to swim and catch little water bugs. In her free time, she would study under the local nailsmith, a bug she often saw as her father. She became quite adept at making deadly weapons.
But a terrible flood destroyed her whole kingdom and separated her and her family. she and the few bugs who survived stayed in the kingdom, rebuilding what they could, until a traveling circus appeared in their home, searching for scarlet flames. One of the members of the circus promised life and prosperity to whoever joined. Amaranth, desperate to find her parents, accepted. She became a member of the Grimm Troupe, but at a cost. Upon accepting her mask, she lost all empathy and became much stronger. She forgot her former life and completely devoted herself to the Troupe, taking on the name Maure. She searched far and wide for fallen kingdoms and scarlet flames with the Grimmkin at her side.
After serving the Troupe for almost 300 years, she encountered two bugs traveling to a distant kingdom. They had lost their minds due to being in the wastelands for so long, so they attacked her viciously. Maure, unprepared for their viciousness, was caught off guard. One of the bugs severely injured her, snapping off her left horn and clawing all over her shell and knocking off her mask. In a panic, Maure stabbed both bugs, killing them instantly. But because her mask had been knocked off, all her memories came back and her strength faded. She recognized the two bugs she had killed as her parents. Devastated and injured, she fled.
(Grimm would later find Maure's broken horn and mask. He replaced her with Divine.)
Maure barely made it to an empty town, where she found a well and she hoped it had water. But she fell down it, landing in the Forgotten Crossroads. She crept into Greenpath, where she fed on Squits and went into hiding.
And that's where Honeysuckle finds her :3
Tumblr media
Maure is partially mute. She struggles to speak after she left the Grimm Troupe. She can string together a few coherent sentences and words. She also can't walk properly, as the accident and the fall down the well completely wrecked both of her legs. She uses her nail for support, until Honeysuckle made her some braces and began helping her move around. Honey also made her a prosthetic horn.
Anyways, that's my lore so far!
Sorry for rambling lol

Dev Diary 15 - Mechanics Reworks
Hello cosmonauts! It’s been a minute.
So we finally finished Chariots of Steel and were all eager to turn development time over to Torchship when I got covid. I was too sick to do anything for a week, and then have spent the time since exhausted, coughing, and headache-y. I’m still coughing. What a cool sickness to have!
Because of that, I really haven’t made the progress I was hoping to, but I do have some things to talk about from the current draft of the game. So here goes…
Unity Rewrite
One of the problems revealed by last year’s Metatopia playtest was that players didn’t really have a good idea of how important Unity was supposed to be, because it was a simple uncapped resource. Like any such resource, either they ignored it, or it activated the player’s hoarding instincts and they stockpiled it and dedicated themselves to whatever roleplay triggers would get more without ever spending it.
Uh, oops, should have seen that coming.
So one of the biggest changes in the current drafts is that Unity has gone from being a pool of resources to being a bar you try to keep topped up, like so:
Tumblr media
So long as you stay in the green ‘United’ range of 10-12, you have a free 1d6 reroll on all your dice pools. While not a hugely powerful buff, it’s a passive benefit that helps no matter what you’re doing, so you always want it if you can. There’s no benefit or drawback to being at Functional, but Tense and Fracturing hit you with escalating penalties.
This tells players when they need to be looking to form or act on relationships for the Unity benefits. Your Unity falling (through complications on rolls, stress in combat, or relationship complications) acts as an invitation to groups to get more involved, to declare relationships with each other and the various sides of a debate, and possibly act irrationally on them.
This incentive structure also heightens the political metaphor of the relationship system and the way it will affect your interaction with groups. When things are fraying in your in-group, the fastest way to rebuild cohesion is to find an out-group, to stop being impartial and take sides. As circumstances change, you might find yourself dealing with the sunk-cost fallacy of having backed a horse you no longer believe in, faced with the reality of risking your group’s Unity to make the right choice, and the potential danger of swinging too far the other way as you try to rebuild cohesion.
Damage Rework - Conditions
Another massive change in the Alpha is a totally reworked system for damage, creating a single universal framework for everything from personal injury to wear and tear on tools to massive impact on spacecraft.
When something is damaged, that damage gets converted by the GM into Conditions. A Condition consists of a narrative description and a severity between 1-6; the severity determines the degree of penalty taken when the narrative of the condition becomes relevant (with 6 Damage indicating something has been destroyed outright and can’t be used). Damage is converted to Severity 1-1, so if you take more than 6 damage, multiple Conditions will arise.
This system can be used for anything, and focuses on creating problems that you have to work around and solve (you know the thing this kind of sci-fi is all about). If you get shot in the arm, having to figure out how to do things one-handed to avoid the penalty becomes an interesting problem you have to navigate around. If you drop your scanner down an elevator shaft by accident, you have to navigate your adventure with 1 Disadvantage on your sensor checks because of a cracked lens. And when 24 points of Thermal damage hits your spaceship from a laser hit, those become Conditions on your various modules and subsystems, realistically knocking out parts of your spacecraft so your engineer player gets to fix them and your medic gets to attend to crew.
This system also allows the GM to metre out the nature of damage to match the needs of the narrative much more easily. This allows weapons to be realistically dangerous without simply killing player characters all the time, because damage can be freely split between conditions; six damage from a handheld railgun doesn’t have to one-shot you, it can be interestingly split into a number of conditions describing the path of the shot.
It also heavily simplifies a number of the game’s Hazards; you can make an ‘oxygen deprivation’ condition or a ‘barotrauma’ condition or a ‘heat stroke’ condition just as easily as anything else, and Resistances can be applied to that damage the same way. It elegantly compresses a number of systems from earlier drafts into a single, solutions-first mechanic.
Modes of Play & Vignettes
One big change in the new Draft is how the game uses alternating modes of play. We’ve ended up settling on four, two ‘main’ modes and two modes which are like exaggerated versions. You constantly build up Strain through Activity and Alert, every time you roll dice or get hurt, and you remove that Strain by going into Reflection and spending Supply.
Tumblr media
The way we’ve decided to do this so that Reflection & Resupply can be tracked and even applied retroactively is Vignettes. Vignettes are scenes you play during Reflection to give a break from the action, creating the character moments that make us invested in the weird sci-fi shit by giving us a glimpse into the world. However, because each one is a discrete mechanical package with simple outcomes, you can also go ‘hey wait, I think that scene we just played was a Vignette!’ and it’ll still work.
The entire party plays the same Vignettes together and shares the benefits, with you playing more Vignettes the longer your characters are waiting (non-linearly; an hour gets you 1 Vignette, but a day only gets you 3). This timescale compression helps to get across the vast scale of space; there will be times when combat begins, both sides launch missiles at each other, and then you realise that it’ll be an hour before impact and you’re able to play a tense Vignette while you wait!
There are currently 9 Vignettes:
Three are Meetings: Conferences where you adjust your Investigation Checklists, Briefings where you make plans for dice bonuses, and Debates where you decide what to do in a controversial situation.
Three are Downtime: Relaxing to generate Unity and remove Strain, Lower Decks to introduce new crew NPCs you can call on for help, and Tourism to hang out with the locals, get language XP, and fill society checklists in a fun montage.
Three are Labour: Training to get XP, Treatment to recover Harm, and Project Work to create new Tools.
Resupply, which happens almost exclusively between episodes, will unlock three new Vignettes dedicated to your resources, spacecraft, and what’s happening back home.
That’s all for now. Hopefully we’ll have more detail for you next diary, which hopefully won’t take nearly as long. Provided there are no more tanks or awful diseases in my near future…

I saw a comment on the Fallen London wiki, where someone wondered whether it would be possible to "actually" revive/fix Mr Candles, as opposed to SMEN's mission to the High Wilderness which (as far as I can tell, having never Knocked myself) settles for mourning or avenging him.
My reaction was "well, this is the Neath, and the whole point of the Neath is to be a refuge for the audacious and the impossible, right? So there should be some way to do it, even if it's not in the game."
But then that got me thinking... how would you do it, exactly?
Part One: Body
First off, the requirements to revive the dead, even in the Neath, are apparently pretty heavy. Cups manages it at the end of Nemesis, with a ritual requiring Master's Blood, a bathtub full of Hesperidian Cider, a number of specially-prepared candles, and the remains of the deceased.
Of these four, the first two are obtainable in-game. Eye-wateringly expensive (fun fact: a bathtub is seven firkins), but still.
The third is also obtainable... at a cost. There's probably a reason that the Seeking Road, despite being as misaimed as it is, tries to spell Mr Candles's name in candles.
The fourth... well. SMEN ignores it, except at the very beginning. But the physical remains of Mr Candles apparently still exist. "IT IS NORTH UNDER GRANITE." Probably in Xibalba.
But there's a problem with the Cups Process: it can't restore the mind. In Nemesis, this was an unfixable problem. But for Mr Candles... its mind survives, and we know where to get it.
Part Two: Mind
The Mr Eaten of SMEN vascillates between two agendas: revenge and grief. Why? My theory is that there are two Mr Eatens in the Neath, each an incomplete remnant of the original Mr Candles. We know that one of them is imprinted in the lacre of the Bazaar. That would be the grieving one; aside from the obvious practicalities of what can and can't be described in the language of grief, we know that when you "Accept the Name" from the Eaten Mr Sacks, your Question is immediately shifted to "What is Forgotten" even if you previously set it to "What is Due".
Then where is the Mr Eaten of revenge? Well, where was Mr Candles most likely to leave a part of itself behind? I think the obvious answer is Parabola. It's a place where even the Masters are vulnerable, and if some impression of him didn't remain there, then we wouldn't have dreams of Death by Water. But this Eaten has been warped, too. The Strange Dreams of London interact with each other, after all, and none more than those of Storm. Storm is the other dream-remnant who dreams of going NORTH, and has his own reasons to want to pass the gate of Avid Horizon and bring down a reckoning upon the whole Neath and its lawlessness. When the Bag a Legend protagonist crafts the hungry knife to kill Mr Veils in retribution, they even use Storm's thunderbolt to do it. Some part of Storm has rubbed off on the Parabolan Mr Eaten, I think, and caused it to hyperfixate on the plan of revenge at any cost.
Part Three: Putting the Pieces Together
So now we've found the disembodied mind that the Cups Process cannot, on its own, rebuild. But how do we safely reunite those minds with their body?
If the grieving remnant is imprinted in lacre, then it can be read out of lacre. It's Correspondence, albeit a different dialect written with a different orthography. A sufficiently dedicated Correspondent could "accept the heart and lights" of the Eaten Mr Sacks and then transcribe them. And if there is a concern that "lacre cannot bury the law", then perhaps they should get the help of a Steward, whose whole craft centers around burying the Law, to enact that "no forgotten victim shall be forgotten" while the work gets done.
As for Parabola's Mr Eaten, well, the protagonist has successfully visited the dreams of dead Masters before. Get someone good enough at Glasswork to find the center of the dream. Speak the Name, to grab the attention of the dreamer, and then transport it in a Mirrorcatch Box; the endgame quests of Sunless Sea have shown us that this is a convenient way to contain and transport Parabolans who could not survive in the Neath.
With this, all that remains is to transfer these thoughts into the newly resuccitated Mr Candles. Irrigo is the obvious tool for this; we know that it can lubricate thoughts and memories, allowing them to flow freely from one person to another.
But using the Nadir itself for this purpose would be too dangerous. We'd risk permanently losing the precious canoptic jars which we'd worked so hard to recover. Instead, we need someone skilled with precision application of irrigo, of the "inks of undernight", to perform the transplant. We need Millicent Clathermont's remnant... whom, if we have St Eruzile's Candle, should already be present within us.
And what about the most fundamental obstacle? The notion, put forward by the authors themselves, that there is no longer such things as a Mr Candles, just an absence where a Mr Candles should be?
The Seeking Road has given us the solution to that, as well. The process for filling that void appears every time someone finishes St Gawain's service. St Gawain's Candle is, above all else, an emptiness in the shape of a person, filled with glory and coaxed back to life.
Perhaps it's presence as the final candle of the Seekers is no coincidence either.
In Conclusion
So this is the shopping list.
Mr Requiem, transcribed from lacre into Correspondence
Mr Reckoning, contained in a Mirrorcatch Box by Glasswork
The Inks of the Undernight, and a skilled hand at them, to return the two remnants of Mr Candles's mind to its body
The blood of a living Curator, for the Cups Process
Seven firkins of Hesperidian Cider (or another highly concentrated medium of the Mountain of Light's vitality) for the Cups Process
A number of specially-prepared candles, for the Cups Process
The physical remains of Mr Candles, NORTH UNDER GRANITE
Much of this is familiar. Much of this is stuff that SMEN gives you, for reasons it never deigns to explain before it sends you off to Avid Horizon to ruin everything.
Perhaps this was always the plan, originally. Perhaps Mr Candles, forseeing (as Winking Isle implies) the betrayal, prepared the Seeking Road as a means of resurrection, and it only got bent out of shape later. Perhaps by some ineffective Tragedy Procedure which smudged the Seeking Road but failed to erase it, or perhaps by some Mithridatic scheme of Nicator (who entire stake in the matter, as a player for White, is by his own admission “to bring light to the Neath”), or perhaps just by the Eatens’ tug-of-war between revenge and regret accidentally yanking the path past Xibalba and through the Gate.
It'll probably never be a part of the game. But in the realm of fanfic... the realm of "what might be possible"... who knows?

omg hi :) love your polls <3 im here to lore dump about my ocs!
My main Dragonborn is Theodora Viticius (her father picked that name out of a book as he did not know his own father, technically has no history). She was born off the coast in Senachal as her parents were pirates at the time, but grew up in Anvil. In my headcanons after the war Anvil kind of became a company town, the East Empire Company stepped in to try to rebuild but at the cost of people's freedoms.
After her father dies she heads to the Imperial City and joins the arena as a way to make money, most of her father's wealth is tied up and she can't access it right away. She ends up becoming quasi-famous and is up for the Grand Champion title before she realizes she doesn't like the fame and leaves Cyrodiil to go find her aunt in Hammerfell.
Along the way of course, getting captured by the Legion, you know the rest :P Initially she ran from being Dragonborn; headed to Riften planning to leave for Morrowind when she ends up joining the thieves Guild. Eventually destiny knocks and she tries the whole hero thing.
After defeating Miraak (and her man Ondoelmar faking his death to leave the Dominion), she ends up back in Cyrodiil, just outside the city with 3 kids.
Arthano the oldest grows up to be Grand Champion, before becoming a hired mercenary, traveling through Skyrim and High Rock. Choosing to settle down in Falkreath with an old childhood friend.
Ricardo ends up becoming a Moth Priest and dedicating his life to the study of Elder Scrolls. A strong advocate for knowledge he eventually leads seminars and becomes a prominent scholar.
Ceridwen originally went to study the school of Illusion in the Summerset Isles, but left for the College of Winterhold and became fascinated with Conjuration. She becomes a Telvanni Master Wizard after marrying a Telvanni she met at the college. she ends up surpassing him in skill quite early on.
Sorry this is so long!
hi!! glad to hear you're enjoying the blog! i enjoy yours too, i've been following you for quite a bit!
they all sound so cool!! i love her story, esp the bits about her family and her stint with fame. also that's the first time i've seen anyone have a moth priest oc!! also ondoelmar is such a valid choice i love him
no apologies necessary for it being long, i love hearing from y'all

hi hazel!
i think it’s been since baku now that we last saw a safety car (i might be wrong, this is off the top of my head). do you think this is because this year’s grid is particularly strong compared to previous years? Or is it just a random coincidence? (because i know f2 didn’t have safety cars either so it could just be something else)
because even through a dry-wet monaco, they managed to make it with no safety cars.
Chris Medland also said something along the lines of that it’s now two out of the last three races where there have been no yellow flags or retirements. Is it also just a testament to the reliability of these cars?
I feel like this would maybe have to affect their strategies as well for the future, that they can’t just wait for a safety car to make a strategy work like teams take into account I would assume since there just seems to be less safety cars in general at a few tracks now.
Could all just be a fluke but still, its just that it’s quite noticeable enough that you start to question it in your head.
mmm, yeah, it's a good question. Bernd Maylander getting bored these days. Nico Hulkenberg actually commented on it on his in-lap after today's race ("We don't get many Safety Cars these days, no?") and it's definitely striking that there weren't any in Monaco and only one in Jeddah.
2020 and 2021 had a lot of safety cars. 2022 had a fair number of them, too. obviously if I was a dude on YouTube I'd say something about Nicholas Latifi having left but since we're somehow the more reasonable end of things on Tumblr, I don't think it's anything to do with the field.
reliability is definitely something teams have been working on up and down the grid. Alfa Romeo have taken a huge step backwards this year, in terms of pace but their car now reliably finishes races rather than catching fire in P7. Red Bull's gremlins from the start of the 2022 season seem to have been eliminated. Ferrari's car is extremely unpredictable but seems to do whatever it is it does from the start to the end of the race.
the only car with mechanical problems seems to be the McLaren but even they've got a better grip on them relative to the start of the season. sudden, dramatic failures are happening less, at least for now - by the end of the season that might change, as parts are under more stress.
what definitely has changed is that teams do not want their drivers to risk crashes. Q1 in Spain was actually fairly unusual for the number of drivers who actually or nearly binned it, lately. even last year drivers were coming pretty spectacular croppers relatively regularly but this year you'll notice them backing out of maneuvers if there's a collision on the cards.
if they break their car, there's a direct consequence in upgrades. every crash limits the development and most teams are desperate for development. rebuilding cars is costly but also has a knock-on effect of needing to manufacture new spares or losing new parts; consider the scrapbooked carbon fibre assembly Merc strapped onto their cars last race; there just isn't the money to worry about making it pretty.
re-fashioning a developed part takes less time than upgrading to a new one. but the time that part is being moulded and machined and baked will be time that nothing else can be. and it all costs money. so drivers are under serious orders not to break anything; if you're McLaren and holding on for possibly Austria, possibly Silverstone upgrades you can't risk pushing that back.
outside of mixed conditions, like in Q1 or the rookies being rookies, drivers are protecting their cars. some of them (Lando, Lewis) are relatively un-crash-prone anyway but drivers like George and Charles haven't mysteriously lost their enthusiasm for pushing over the limit, they've been told to rein it in or risk losing an improvement.
there's something to this year's grid being fairly uniformly sensible about that, without any real on-track hazards but there's something more to it when it comes to racing.
a lot of people have noticed the racing feels bad this year. there's more overtaking than previously but it just seems flat. that's because the field is very spread out for a lot of the races. I'd need to get some data and do my best Brrrake impression to prove this conclusively but a lot of cars are having very lonely races, especially in the points-paying positions and even more so the further up those you get.
as a consequence the exciting battles are tending towards being for P16 or something, which isn't worth wrecking your car for. when there's a big speed difference cars aren't fighting, even if that's two that are on the same pace but one has fresher tyres. a lot of the moves that count as overtakes are more the on-track consequences of undercut/overcut and so there's no extended, risky, defence-attack sequence.

Elemental Beings
There are many types of being out there beyond just demons, fae, and ghosts. Spirits of all sorts roam the world. Some are conceptual spirits, while others embody things in the 'real world'.
Elementals are probably the most tied to earth next to animal spirits. They are akin to Gods but lack the accumulated power and solidity, as well as the breadth of abilities they have. Many of them embody a specific aspect or expression of elemental power. A powerful wind spirit may embody a jet stream, while a lake may have its own elemental spirit. A volcano spirit of the spirit of a fault line or a proclaimed hurricane spirit can be a handful to deal with!
Most potent elementals can disguise themselves as humans and take up elemental forms when they express their power more openly/overtly. As spirits, killing them can be quite tricky. Blow up their physical body and it just takes them some time to rebuild one. Elementals are normally spirits, meaning they have several advantages that Ghosts have. They are innately magical, regenerate their Constitution each hour, are immortal unless slain properly, intangible unless they manifest their forms, can 'hear' when they are called up, and while intangible as a spirit, they are largely invisible to mundane humans. They can manifest a body but doing so takes a long time. They must spend as much time 'regenerating' the body's form as if they had been knocked to -10 Life Points. So, an elemental with a being with 60 Life points and 6 Constitution would have to spend 12 hours building itself a body if they lose it or are 'killed' without dealing with the spirit.
If their body 'dies' they become a spirit and are unconscious -- but also extremely vulnerable. Techniques and methods of dealing with ghosts work equally well on elementals... Usually. Earth Elementals are unaffected by Rock Salt for instance. But they can be "Busted" or discorporate with enough spiritual damage after being 'slain' to finally put them down.
Naturally, each Elemental has an Elemental Weakness that affects them both physically and spiritually. Fire is weak to water, water is weak to earth, etc.
All in all, the "Base" Elemental quality costs 12 points.
Air/Wind - Wind spirits are free-wheeling, fast, and hard to pin down. They have Flight (Advanced), +10 speed, +1 Willpower, +4 Dexterity, +3 Constitution, and +1 Strength. When in Elemental Form, they take 1/5th damage from physical attacks. They also have "Fluid Physics," meaning that they can squeeze themselves through smaller things (though it feels weird to do so and can take a bit of time). Air elementals take double damage from fire and can be sucked into vacuums if they are not careful while in elemental form. This adds 22 Points to the cost for a total of 35 Points.
Electricity - Electricity or 'Thunder' spirits are potent and dangerous beings. They take 1/2 Damage from kinetic attacks and 1/5th damage from 'energy' attacks. In the modern age, they can travel along electrical lines at near-light speed. This works as Blink level 5, but is limited by electrical lines. They also have Flight (Advanced), +20 Speed, +1 Willpower, +5 Dexterity, +1 Constitution, and +2 Strength. Their physical attacks can deal an extra 2 damage per SL of the strike in Electrical damage, and those who directly touch them (or hit them with something metallic while not insulated) take 1 point of electrical damage per SL of the attack. On the negative side, they have a weakness to both Water (damages as Holy Water does Vampires, with Saltwater doubling that damage) and conductive metal strikes which ignore their damage reduction and deal an extra point of damage for each success level of the hit. They can also be 'grounded' by pinning them to the earth with a conductive material. It must go 'through' them and deals 30 damage to them if it hits a limb, and double that if through the torso. Rules for ''through the heart' and 'to the head' apply to both attacks. All together, this costs 42 Quality Points.
Earth (Dirt) - Earth Spirits made up of soil, loam, clay, or sand are the 'softest'. They have an armor value of 3, Reduced Damage (1/2 Kinetic, 1/5th Energy). They can 'pass' through the earth and appear elsewhere (akin to Blink level 5, but on the ground only). Dirt Elementals have +2 Constitution and +2 Strength. On the negative side, water messes them up pretty badly (again, as a vampire). Wooden weapons also deal double damage to them (IE: they ignore the damage reduction). All together that costs 34 Points.
Earth (Rock) - Rock spirits are similar to Earth Spirits, but tend to be more-so. Their armor value increases to 6. Their Reduced damage remains as it was. They can do 'move through substance' trick, but add cement and other rocks/stones to the list on top of dirt, and have higher attribute bonuses: +4 to both Strength and Constitution. The total quality cost for this is 41 Quality Points.
Earth (Crystal) - Spirits of crystals, diamonds, pearls, and others are the hardest to find and deal with. They have +5 to both Strength and Constitution and increase the armor value to 13. This makes the Earth (Crystal) Elemental cost 50 points. This quality can also be used for Earth (Metal) Elementals.
Fire - Sometimes called Salamanders, or Pyros, these are beings of fire and plasma. They have Advanced flight, and they take 1/2 Damage from kinetic attacks and 1/5th damage from 'energy' attacks. They gain +10 Speed, +1 Willpower, +3 Dexterity, +2 Constitution, and +3 Strength. Their physical attacks can deal an extra 2 damage per SL of the strike in Fire damage, and those who directly touch them take 1 point of fire damage per SL of the attack. On the negative side, they have a weakness to Water (damages as Holy Water does Vampires) and the effects of suffocation are doubly effective against them.
Water - Undines, these beings are potent for simply how important water is to all life on earth. In their elemental forms, they take 1/5th damage from physical attacks, and while they can be frozen 'solid' this barely affects them damage-wise, so they take 1/10th damage from 'cold' effects. They are amphibious and have "Fluid Physics," meaning that they can squeeze themselves through smaller things (though it feels weird to do so and can take a bit of time). elementals take double damage from electricity and can be sucked into vacuums if they are not careful while in elemental form. This adds 30 Points to the cost for a total of 43 Points.

House Demolition: A Comprehensive Guide to Safely and Efficiently Tearing Down a House
Tumblr media
Demolishing a house is no small feat. Whether you're preparing to rebuild from the ground up, clear space for new development, or remove a hazardous structure, house demolition requires careful planning and execution. This comprehensive guide will walk you through the essential aspects of house demolition, from the reasons for demolition to safety considerations, and the demolition process itself.
What Is House Demolition?
The House demolition is the process of completely or partially tearing down a residential structure. This can be done for various reasons, including making room for a new building, removing unsafe structures, or clearing land. Depending on the scale and purpose, demolitions can range from taking down a single wall to completely razing an entire house.
Why Opt for House Demolition?
1. Structural Instability or Safety Concerns
One of the most common reasons for demolishing a house is the safety risks associated with its structural integrity. Older homes, or those damaged by natural disasters or neglect, may no longer be safe for occupants. In such cases, demolition may be the best solution to prevent accidents or collapse.
2. Renovations and Upgrades
Sometimes, homeowners opt for demolition when the cost of renovating or upgrading an old house exceeds the cost of starting fresh with a new build. By demolishing the existing structure, property owners can create a modern home tailored to their needs, without the limitations of an older layout or architecture.
3. Land Redevelopment
In areas experiencing economic or infrastructural growth, land redevelopment is a common reason for house demolition. Property developers may purchase older homes to demolish them and create space for new residential, commercial, or mixed-use developments.
4. Environmental Hazards
Homes containing asbestos, lead paint, or other hazardous materials may require demolition to eliminate health risks. In such cases, specialized demolition techniques and safety protocols are employed to ensure safe removal.
Types of House Demolition
Before proceeding with demolition, it’s important to choose the right type of demolition that fits your project’s needs. There are several demolition methods available depending on the size of the structure, the location, and other factors.
1. Manual Demolition
Manual demolition involves workers using hand tools and smaller machinery to dismantle a structure. It is typically reserved for smaller buildings or selective demolition projects, where only part of a house is removed (for example, tearing down an extension).
Best for:
Small projects
Selective demolition (like removing walls or specific sections)
Areas with limited access to heavy equipment
2. Mechanical Demolition
Mechanical demolition is the most common method used for tearing down houses. This involves the use of heavy machinery such as excavators, bulldozers, or wrecking balls to knock down the structure. Mechanical demolition is fast and efficient for full-scale house demolition.
Best for:
Large-scale projects
Full-house demolitions
Urban and suburban locations
3. Deconstruction
Deconstruction, also known as "green demolition," is a more environmentally friendly alternative. Instead of demolishing the entire house, materials such as wood, brick, and fixtures are carefully removed for recycling or reuse. While more time-consuming than traditional demolition, deconstruction is ideal for those looking to minimize waste.
Best for:
Environmentally-conscious projects
Maximizing salvageable materials
Minimizing landfill contributions
4. Implosion
Implosion is a rare technique used in densely populated areas for large structures like apartment buildings or skyscrapers. It involves strategically placing explosives inside the building to cause it to collapse inward. While it’s unlikely that a typical house would require implosion, the method is worth mentioning for larger structures.
Best for:
Very large buildings
Urban settings with tight space constraints
Steps Involved in House Demolition
Demolishing a house involves more than simply knocking down walls. Below is a step-by-step breakdown of the demolition process.
1. Obtain Necessary Permits
Before any demolition can begin, you must secure the appropriate permits from your local government. The permit process ensures that the demolition complies with local regulations, zoning laws, and safety standards. Be prepared to submit detailed plans of the project and pay permit fees.
2. Disconnect Utilities
For safety reasons, all utility connections must be properly disconnected before demolition. This includes:
Electricity
Water
Gas
Sewage
Failure to disconnect utilities can result in accidents, such as electrical shocks, gas leaks, or water damage.
3. Asbestos and Hazardous Material Inspection
If your home was built before the 1980s, it may contain asbestos, lead paint, or other hazardous materials. You are legally required to have the property inspected and abated (if necessary) before demolition. Specialized contractors will handle the removal of hazardous materials, ensuring the safety of both workers and the surrounding community.
4. Hire a Licensed Demolition Contractor
Choosing the right demolition contractor is crucial for a safe and successful project. Look for contractors who are licensed, insured, and experienced in the type of demolition you require. You should obtain multiple quotes and ensure that the contractor follows local regulations and safety standards.
5. Prepare the Site
Before demolition can begin, you’ll need to prepare the site. This might include:
Erecting safety barriers or fencing to protect neighboring properties
Clearing the surrounding area of furniture, vehicles, and other valuables
Creating designated entry and exit points for workers and machinery
6. Demolition Process
Once everything is in place, the actual demolition can begin. Depending on the demolition method, this may involve heavy machinery, manual labor, or controlled explosives. The structure will be dismantled carefully, with debris either sorted for recycling or hauled away.
7. Debris Removal
Post-demolition, the site must be cleared of all debris. Your demolition contractor will typically handle this process, either by trucking debris to a landfill or recycling facility. In some cases, reusable materials may be salvaged and sold.
Safety Considerations During House Demolition
Demolishing a house poses numerous safety risks, which is why strict precautions must be followed at all times. Here are some key safety guidelines:
1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
All workers on-site should wear the appropriate protective gear, including hard hats, gloves, goggles, and steel-toed boots. Respirators may also be necessary if hazardous materials like asbestos are present.
2. Hazardous Materials
Asbestos, lead, and mold are common hazards in older homes. Always conduct a thorough inspection before demolition to identify and safely remove any toxic substances.
3. Fall Hazards
Falls from ladders, roofs, or other elevated areas are a major cause of injuries during demolition. Scaffolding and safety harnesses should be used when necessary to prevent falls.
4. Machinery Safety
Heavy equipment such as bulldozers and excavators should only be operated by trained professionals. Maintaining a clear line of communication and establishing safe zones can reduce the risk of accidents.
5. Public Safety
Demolition sites should be properly fenced off to prevent unauthorized access. Clear signage and safety barriers help ensure that pedestrians and neighbors are protected from flying debris or accidents.
Costs of House Demolition
The cost of house demolition varies based on several factors, including the size of the structure, location, and the type of demolition method used. On average, house demolition costs range from $5,000 to $15,000 for a standard-sized house.
Factors That Influence the Cost:
House size: Larger homes naturally require more work and higher costs.
Location: Demolition in urban areas may be more expensive due to logistical challenges and permits.
Material disposal: Dumping fees and waste removal can add to the overall cost.
Hazardous material removal: Asbestos or lead removal can significantly increase the price.
House Demolition vs. Renovation: Which Is Right for You?
For homeowners debating between demolishing or renovating an old house, it's essential to weigh the pros and cons of each. Renovation may be a cost-effective way to update a home while preserving its original character. However, if structural issues or high renovation costs make repairs impractical, demolition might be the better long-term option.
House Demolition:
Pros: Total design freedom for a new home, removes safety hazards, faster process than extensive renovations.
Cons: Higher upfront cost, emotional impact (if the house has sentimental value), temporary relocation needed.
House Renovation:
Pros: Less disruptive, preserves historical or sentimental features, often less expensive than new construction.
Cons: Hidden structural issues can arise, potential for prolonged project timelines, and limited design flexibility.
Conclusion
House demolition is a complex yet necessary process for many property owners. Whether you're clearing land for redevelopment, removing a dangerous structure, or starting fresh with a new build, understanding the demolition process is essential for a successful project. By choosing the right demolition method, following safety protocols, and working with experienced professionals, you can ensure a smooth and efficient demolition experience.

Step-by-Step Guide to Shellharbour House Demolition: What to Expect
Demolishing a house is no small feat. Whether it’s for renovation, redevelopment, or safety reasons, the process is intricate and requires careful planning. Shellharbour House Demolition by DemoEx has become a trusted service for many homeowners and developers in the region, known for its professional approach and commitment to ensuring safety and efficiency.
In this blog post, we'll walk through the stages of house demolition, the factors that influence decisions, and what makes Shellharbour House Demolition by DemoEx stand out. With this comprehensive guide, you’ll know what to expect when embarking on such a project, allowing you to make informed choices along the way.
Understanding Why Demolition is Necessary
Demolition can often seem drastic, but in many cases, it’s the most practical option. Homeowners may choose to demolish their homes due to structural damage, outdated design, or to make way for a completely new construction. Shellharbour, like many other regions, has seen an increase in home renovations and redevelopments as property values rise and modern designs become more desirable.
However, demolition isn’t always about starting from scratch. Partial demolition is often necessary when renovating specific parts of a home while keeping the structural integrity of others intact. Shellharbour House Demolition by DemoEx specializes in both full and partial demolitions, providing flexible solutions tailored to individual needs.
Transitioning from a renovation to a demolition decision requires a careful evaluation of costs, the condition of the building, and future plans. Often, demolishing and rebuilding may be more cost-effective than attempting to retrofit an old structure.
The Demolition Process: What Happens First?
Once you’ve made the decision to demolish, the process begins with planning and permits. Demolition isn’t as simple as knocking down walls; there are strict regulations, safety protocols, and environmental considerations that need to be addressed.
DemoEx takes care of obtaining necessary permits, conducting site assessments, and ensuring that the project adheres to local laws. The Shellharbour area, like most regions, requires detailed assessments of properties to ensure that all safety concerns are met before demolition begins.
Moreover, neighbors and nearby properties are considered in this phase. Planning for minimal disruption and ensuring that demolition is conducted in a way that doesn’t negatively impact the surrounding community is a core priority for Shellharbour House Demolition by DemoEx.
Environmental Concerns and Sustainable Demolition
In today's environmentally conscious world, the way buildings are demolished has changed dramatically. Gone are the days of simply bulldozing a house and dumping the rubble. Sustainable demolition practices are at the forefront, and Shellharbour House Demolition by DemoEx is a leader in eco-friendly practices.
One of the key aspects of sustainable demolition is recycling materials. Bricks, metals, and even certain woods can be salvaged and repurposed, reducing the waste sent to landfills. Not only does this practice help the environment, but it can also reduce costs for homeowners, as salvaged materials can sometimes be sold or reused in future projects.
Additionally, proper disposal of hazardous materials such as asbestos is crucial. DemoEx follows strict guidelines for handling and removing dangerous substances, ensuring that demolition is safe for both workers and the surrounding environment.
The Costs of Demolition: What to Expect
One of the primary concerns for homeowners is the cost of demolition. Pricing can vary based on several factors, including the size of the house, the complexity of the job, and any additional services required, such as asbestos removal or site cleanup.
At Shellharbour House Demolition by DemoEx, the team provides detailed quotes after conducting thorough site inspections. This ensures there are no hidden surprises, and homeowners can plan their budgets accordingly.
It’s important to consider that while demolition may seem expensive upfront, it can save money in the long run. For example, trying to repair a structurally unsound building may lead to costly issues down the road, whereas starting fresh with a new build can offer long-term savings.
Safety First: Protecting Workers and the Community
Demolition is inherently dangerous, with risks that include structural collapses, hazardous materials, and heavy machinery. For this reason, safety is always the top priority for Shellharbour House Demolition by DemoEx.
Before any demolition work begins, the team conducts a comprehensive risk assessment. This involves identifying potential hazards, creating safety protocols, and ensuring all workers are equipped with the necessary protective gear. Additionally, the surrounding area is cordoned off to prevent accidents involving passersby or neighboring properties.
Continuous monitoring throughout the demolition process ensures that if any unforeseen issues arise, they can be dealt with promptly and effectively. For homeowners, knowing that their project is being handled with the utmost care provides peace of mind.
What Happens After the Demolition?
Once the building has been demolished, the project isn’t over. The site needs to be cleared of debris, and in some cases, excavation is required to prepare the land for future construction. Shellharbour House Demolition by DemoEx handles the entire post-demolition process, ensuring that the land is left in the best possible condition for the next phase.
This step is crucial for those planning to rebuild. Having a clean, properly leveled site ensures that construction can begin without delays. It also allows for a smoother transition from demolition to construction, as contractors can start their work immediately.
Additionally, some homeowners choose to keep certain features of their original homes, such as foundations or specific architectural elements. DemoEx works with clients to preserve these features when possible, incorporating them into new builds.
Conclusion: Why Choose DemoEx for Shellharbour House Demolition?
When it comes to house demolition, there’s no room for error. It’s a complex, multi-step process that requires expert handling from start to finish. Shellharbour House Demolition by DemoEx offers a comprehensive solution, ensuring safety, efficiency, and environmental responsibility throughout every stage of the project.
With the right team, demolition becomes a manageable and even exciting step in the process of building or redeveloping your dream home. From planning to post-demolition cleanup, DemoEx’s expertise allows homeowners to focus on their future plans while leaving the hard work to the professionals.

Quality Assurance: Specialists are committed to delivering high-quality workmanship and materials. They perform regular inspections to ensure all work meets the highest standards and adheres to building regulations.
Key Considerations for a Knock Down and Rebuild
When planning a knock down and rebuild, there are several important factors to consider:
Council Regulations: It's crucial to understand the local council regulations and requirements for demolition and new construction. Knockdown rebuild specialists can guide you through the approval process to ensure compliance.
Budget and Financing: Establish a clear budget for your project, including demolition costs, construction expenses, and any unexpected contingencies. Speak to a financial advisor or mortgage broker to explore financing options.
Design Preferences: Think about the design elements you want in your new home. Consider factors such as the number of bedrooms, layout, style, and any special features you desire.
Timeline: Be aware of the time required for each stage of the project, from demolition to completion. Working with experienced knockdown rebuild specialists can help streamline the process and minimize delays.
Conclusion
A knock down and rebuild project offers a fantastic opportunity to create a new, customized home in the location you love. With the help of knockdown rebuild specialists, you can navigate the complexities of the process with ease, ensuring a successful transformation of your property. Whether you're looking to modernize your living space, accommodate a growing family, or increase your property's value, a knock down and rebuild could be the perfect solution for you.

Future Trends in Melbourne's Land Development Market
The landscape of Melbourne's land development market is evolving rapidly. As one of Australia's most dynamic cities, Melbourne is experiencing significant growth and transformation in its urban planning and development sectors. This blog will explore the future trends shaping Melbourne's land development market, focusing on key areas such as multi-unit developments, knock down rebuild services, and new home construction. Let's delve into the factors driving these changes and what they mean for the future of Melbourne's urban landscape.
The Rise of Multi-Unit Developments
Changing Demographics and Urbanization
Melbourne's population is growing, and with it, the demand for housing is increasing. This growth is driving a shift towards more efficient land use, particularly in urban areas. Multi Unit Builders and Development Melbourne are becoming increasingly prominent as they provide a solution to the city's housing needs. These developments offer multiple residential units within a single property, maximizing land use and catering to the needs of a diverse population.
Sustainable Urban Living
Another significant trend in Melbourne's land development market is the emphasis on sustainability. Multi-unit developments often incorporate green building practices, energy-efficient designs, and sustainable materials. This approach not only reduces the environmental impact but also appeals to a growing segment of eco-conscious buyers. As urban living continues to evolve, we can expect multi-unit developments to play a crucial role in creating sustainable communities.
The Emergence of Knock Down Rebuild Services
Urban Renewal and Modernization
As Melbourne's urban landscape ages, the need for renewal and modernization becomes apparent. Home Knock Down Rebuild Services Melbourne are gaining popularity as they offer a practical solution for property owners looking to upgrade their homes. Instead of renovating an outdated structure, homeowners can opt to demolish and rebuild, creating modern, energy-efficient homes that meet current standards and preferences.
Customization and Personalization
Knock down rebuild services also allow homeowners to customize their new homes to their exact specifications. This trend is particularly appealing to those who value unique design and personalized living spaces. With the expertise of experienced builders, homeowners can create a tailored living environment that reflects their lifestyle and aesthetic preferences.
The Boom in New Home Construction
Innovative Building Techniques
The new home construction market in Melbourne is witnessing a surge in innovative building techniques. New Homes Builders Melbourne are leveraging advanced construction technologies, such as modular building and 3D printing, to enhance efficiency and reduce construction time. These innovations are not only cost-effective but also ensure higher quality and durability in new homes.
Smart Home Integration
Another notable trend in new home construction is the integration of smart home technologies. Modern homes are being equipped with smart systems that enhance convenience, security, and energy efficiency. From automated lighting and climate control to advanced security systems, smart homes are becoming the norm, offering residents a seamless and connected living experience.
Future Trends to Watch
Green Spaces and Community Integration
As Melbourne continues to grow, the importance of green spaces and community integration is becoming increasingly evident. Future land development projects are likely to prioritize the inclusion of parks, gardens, and communal areas. These spaces not only enhance the quality of life for residents but also promote social interaction and community building.
Mixed-Use Developments
Mixed-use developments, which combine residential, commercial, and recreational spaces, are set to become more prevalent in Melbourne. These developments offer a holistic living experience, where residents can live, work, and play within the same area. This trend aligns with the growing preference for convenience and accessibility in urban living.
Conclusion
Melbourne's land development market is on the cusp of significant transformation. The rise of multi-unit developments, the emergence of knock down rebuild services, and the boom in new home construction are shaping the future of the city's urban landscape. These trends, driven by changing demographics, sustainability, and technological advancements, are paving the way for a more efficient, modern, and vibrant Melbourne.
As we look ahead, companies like Southern Hemisphere Development will play a crucial role in navigating these trends and delivering innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of Melbourne's residents. Whether you're considering a multi-unit development, a knock down rebuild project, or a new home construction, staying informed about these future trends will help you make the best decisions for your property and lifestyle.

Building a Majestic Home with Luxury Contemporary Home Builders
Luxury contemporary home builders can build majestic architecture like French Provincial houses and these are characterised by their symmetrical layout, steeply pitched roofs, towering second-story windows with shutters, exquisite ironwork, and a wide variety of other aesthetically pleasing features both inside and outside the structure. The flexibility to change any part of a custom-built home is one of its greatest advantages.
Tumblr media
Industry insiders strongly advise residents to select a knock-down rebuild done by home builders south east in Melbourne over alternative options since it's the most long-term and cost-effective option. The knockdown method can result in significant financial savings because it does not need the purchase of additional land.
The Most Frequently Occurring Architectural House Styles:
European Style Homes: Slightly pitched roofs, symmetrical facades, elaborate decorative mouldings, arched doors and windows, wrought iron accents, and balconies are characteristics of residences constructed in the European style. Many individuals enjoy being able to relax and de-stress in the peaceful surroundings of these homes, which are genuinely works of art.
Contemporary Style Homes: These ultra-modern homes are architectural marvels when constructed by skilled and competent custom house builders. It's possible to live a happy, healthy life even with a very beautiful home equipped with automation. They have the highest level of safety equipment and when building a bespoke house, the top builders always use the best materials available on the market for commercial buildings.
Period Style Homes: Many people find period-style homes appealing because of these structures' characteristics and the nostalgic feeling they arouse. This is due to the fact that there have long been historical residences there. These kinds of homes tend to feature hallways that are large and airy, with lots of windows and often wood flooring, making one feel completely at peace.
Because they can be customised and have unquestionable quality and resale value, custom-built homes are becoming more and more popular. Get in touch with a custom house builder, explain your needs and preferences, and ask for an estimate on the cost of creating a bespoke home.
