You had always heard the stories—the ones whispered about the Cameron family. They were part of Kildare Island, like the history of old money that never faded. You were different. Your family wasn’t like that. Your house was smaller, perched on the cliffs where the sea crashed against the rocks below. Everything about your life felt different from his. But somehow, here you were, standing with Rafe on the back patio of the Cameron mansion. Your fingers gently holding a glass of champagne as the sun set. Rafe was beside you, his eyes dark, staring out at the horizon.

"Beautiful, isn’t it?" you said softly, knowing what the answer would be. The estate stretched out beneath you, and the ocean went on forever.

Rafe didn’t answer right away. He wasn’t the type to speak if he didn’t need to, and you could tell he wasn’t really looking at the ocean. His eyes were on you, the way they always were when he thought you weren’t noticing.

"Yeah," he finally said, his voice quiet. "I guess it is."

You studied him, wondering where the carefree boy from the past had gone. Now, all you saw was a man weighed down by his family’s expectations—old money, old rules.

"You don’t have to keep pretending," you said softly. "You don’t owe this place anything."

Rafe turned to you, his eyes sharp. "You think I want to be stuck here, don’t you?" His voice was edgy, but underneath it, you could hear something sad.

"I think you want more than this," you said quietly. "More than what they want you to be."

His laugh was bitter. "Yeah, well, you don’t always get what you want, do you?"

There was a moment of silence between you. The sound of the waves crashing was the only noise.

"I’m not like them," he said, his voice softer, but still heavy with the burden of his last name.

"You never were," you replied, reaching out to touch his hand. "But you don’t have to be like them to be something special."

For a brief moment, his eyes softened. It felt like he was really seeing you for the first time. Like, in that moment, you weren’t just an outsider in his world, but someone who belonged by his side.

Described just how Usami and everyone saw it... this really is strange.. but, there's no way it's an actual demon everyone has been seeing, right?"

"...No, of course not. There definitely has to be a logical explanation to all this... and we're going to find it, by uncovering the truth. So that Usami, your brother, and everyone, can rest easy... I know we can do it; especially with my talented kouhai by my side." He chuckles softly, giving a small pat to his back. "That being said, trying to find anything, let alone a person, in this gigantic school, is like finding a needle in a haystack. So this might take quite a while; are you ready, Yuma? Though I'm sure you're fully prepared, even while knowing that, anyway."

"So, you admit that you sometimes don't sleep enough and you have the nerve to think you can get away with it?" *morgana is saying this while he loaves right on top of yuta's stomach, a stern look on the kitty's face as he stares right at the tiny detective!*

"Unacceptable. Don't worry though, I'll make sure to tell the cats to keep a close eye on you and how to get you to lay down. I'll break that bad sleeping habit of yours, Yuta. Isn't that so kind of me?" *he looks particularly smug at that last sentence, adjusting himself a little so he's even more snug!*

"A-Ahaha...haha...." Yuta just accepts his fate as Morgana loaves on his stomach... Ohh he knew the kitty wasn't going to let what he accidentally admitted slide...! "N... N-No... I knew you weren't gonna let that slide...."

"A-And is that so... I didn't even know cats could learn that.... a-and yeah. Real kind. Th-Thanks, Morgana...."

He pokes the smug kitty's nose. He knows he's just trying to look out for him like he does for Akira, so he won't get sassy with him... "Really though, I know it sounds like an excuse, b-but it really is an accident whenever I stay up late reading...! I just can't put the book down... B-But I'll try to get better at sleeping earlier more often!! It'd be pretty embarrassing if the cats would need to force me to go to bed..."

*when the chef enters the room she'll find something odd peeking out from behind one of the kitchen counters, it almost looking like a... question mark? and if she were to get closer it will sway a little until she'll suddenly find that it's attached to a small boy's head! his eyes are incredibly wide as he stares at her, the boy in the middle of picking up some cutlery that he had accidentally knocked over!*

"I'm so sorry, I-I didn't mean to cause any trouble! I-I was looking for where the detectives train and thought it was in here but I saw that delicious dessert on the counter and I wanted to take a closer look a-and I accidentally knocked over some forks and knives and I know I shouldn't have been in here b-but I was trying to clean up before anyone else arrived and-!!!" *the poor boy's so panicked that he's barely taken a moment to breath...*

".....?" Kaede had to halt in her steps for a second, making sure she was seeing things right. A tiny question mark... popping out from behind the counter? Well, that is: until she saw it was just the ahoge of a very small. "Um..." When he looks at her, she gazes right back. Who was this, she wonders? She's certain she's never seen him, before...

She didn't expect him to start going on a panicked rant, though, making her jump a bit in surprise. "Woah!! Oh, that's-!" She's frantically nodding her head to let it be known she's catching everything, but she wants him to calm down!! And so, she quickly goes over to grip Yuma's shoulders, as she yells out: "Calm down!! Take deep breaths..."

She then deeply inhales and exhales, gesturing for him to do the same. "Okay...now.... first off, it's okay. It was an accident. Thank you for wanting to pick them up for me. And I never mind visitors! I'm flattered that you wanted to take a closer look at the cake~ But now to get to the part where you said you're trying to find where the detectives train... Um, I don't think they necessarily have a 'training' spot, but the detectives I know, Kyoko-senpai and Shuichi, do work in a detective office. Are you... a detective, too? .....! Wait.... I think Shuichi mentioned to me once that he's recently been mentoring a trainee. Could that.... be you....?"

While she didn't expect they would meet like this, she's still happy that they could, now giving the boy a smile~ "If so... it's nice to meet you! My name is Kaede Akamatsu, and I'm the Ultimate Chef. I'm a friend of Kaito and Shuichi's, and all the bro friends, hehe! So that makes us friends, too~! Now, you're trying to find Shuichi, right? I'll take you to him! Then maybe we can all enjoy some of that cake, later! I'm sure you'll like it~"

*while at a popular cafe, shuichi will suddenly get the oddest sense that he's being watched! unfortunately it's quite packed today, so it's difficult to tell who - if anyone - is actually staring at him. however, even as the line moves along and people come and go, he'll still feel as if something is amiss!*

*it's only after a few more customers have been served that a particular duo will pass by the detective, the incredibly tall, azure-haired man munching on a donut while ushering a flustered and incredibly small mauve-haired young boy! the smaller one is carrying a coffee in each hand, doing his best to not bump into anyone, but it's then that his eyes will meet shuichi's! he stops in his tracks for just a second, almost looking as if he wishes to say something before giving a quiet yelp as he's promptly lead out the door! from what little can be overheard from their conversation, they're apparently on their way to meet with an ultimate detective and they don't want to keep him waiting...*

Shuichi didn't know why, but a few moments after he entered the cafe, this uneasy feeling crept on him; as if he was being....watched? But as he nervously glances about while standing in line, he couldn't find anyone in particular, that might have been staring... ("...Maybe I'm just imagining it. There are a lot of people in this cafe, right now, after all...") Which would have reassured him, had he still not had that feeling he was being watched even after the store got a bit emptier.

Just as he was wondering if he was really losing it, he quickly steps aside for the two men to pass through. That's when his eyes also met the smaller boy's. "Ah-" When he stopped to look at him, Shuichi tilts his head, wondering if he wanted to tell him something? "....?"

But before he could actually ask him that, he sees his, who he assumes must be his superior of some kind, lead him out. ("That boy...did he want to say something to me? Could he have been the one who was....") From what he could hear, he then caught mention of them going to meet with an ultimate detective. "...!" His eyes widened. That's right, he thought to himself....his uncle did mention that he should expect a visit from two detectives, soon. He didn't expect they were already in town...nor that he'd actually bump into them. "O...Oh!! So that's them?! I should...!" Quickly, he starts making his way towards them as he calls out:

"E...Excuse me!!" Once he gets their attention, he slowly comes to a stop. Then after straightening himself up, he asks: "S-Sorry to stop you both so suddenly, but I i could not help but overhear that you were on the way to meet...an Ultimate Detective...?"
