Finally Gloomth is Ripped Off By Shein! Yay!
Shein / Romwe is notorious for ripping off independent designers and artists. Actual designers and craftspeople really can’t fight billion dollar human-suffering machines so we’re stuck complaining about it on our blogs. But please know this kind of thing is AWFUL when you’re a small artist, I work so hard to create my pieces and seeing them badly copied by huge corporations I don’t have the…

They broke him into so many pieces, and now they're right in front of her, not Edogawa Conan, not Kudo Shinichi; no, now she's the detective, she has to solve this jigsaw puzzle and put him back together. He won't be the same. Of course not. But she'll fix him into the person he'll become.
Artificial Anxiety by Serinox
Summary: On that fateful day in Tropical Land, Shinichi turned away from chasing Vodka when Ran called out to him. Now they are in a relationship and things are progressing nicely. But events happen, which create a kind of artificial anxiety between them, that they have to deal with. Good times are easy, but can they get through the hard times too?
BACK WHERE HE BELONGS by jojoangel01

Kudo Will Die by Ichthyophobia
Summary: Kogoro finds out. Conan, miraculously, survives the revelation. But only because Ran should get to kill him first.
The Gift of Love by EsTeLweNadia
Note: happens after the reveal
Summary: AU – After the defeat of the Black Organization. Sometimes, the greatest gifts of love come in small packages. Shinichi/Ran.
Feel What You Know by impossibleorimprobable
Summary: They killed her. They killed Mouri Ran. High school detective Edogawa Conan grew up cold, ruthless, and brilliant as ever. With his help, police took down the biggest crime syndicate in Japan. In the ashes, they found a child that bore too much resemblance to a girl that should have died ten years ago. The truth must come out. But at what cost?
OTHER FICS
The Case of the Missing Detective by Krista Perry
Summary: On hiatus, NOT dead. Please see my profile for details. ) A former member of the Black Org wants the secret of eternal youth and immortality, and he thinks he can get it by kidnapping Conan. Conan begs to differ.
The Darkness Inside by Akrim
Summary: Aoko receives a bunch of foreboding messages. It could be a prank but she still decides to consult with Kudo Shinichi - just in case it was not a prank. But it's Ran instead with whom she decides to decode these messages. But things are not what they seem and soon they have spun a web of lies, secrets and danger.
SIDE NOTE: if I can find more of the fics which is under a pile of files I've kept for so long. I will edit, feel free to add your comments and suggestions!

Robin Wayne Andersen, 65, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at his home. He was born on October 16, 1957, in Wilmington, New Castle County, DE to the late Charles Jennings Andersen and Margaret Adelia Bolton. His father was a minister in eastern North Carolina for 6 years and in Virginia Beach, Virginia for 7 years.
Wayne graduated from Bob Jones University in 1980. He married Debbie Ann Howard in 1981 and were blessed with two children, Krista and Justin. Being called of God, they moved to Mexico in 1989.
After only several months of language training, they were called back to the states to be with Wayne’s father before he died. In route, Wayne tragically lost both his beloved wife and 5 year old daughter, Krista in a car accident. Just about a month later his father lost his battle with cancer.
Before returning to Mexico with his newly widowed mother, Peggy, he served as interim pastor for his father’s church. Wayne, his mother and surviving son, Justin, moved to Mexico City, where he continued language school and began to acclimate to the culture.
Four years later he married Marty Behn from Greenville, SC. She joined them in Mexico City and began homeschooling Justin and learning the language. Shortly thereafter the Lord gave them two more sons, Joshua and Nathanael. In the remaining years Wayne established a Reformed Baptist church and a Christian bookstore.
He is best known for directing a Spanish Reformed literature ministry, Publicaciones Faro de Gracia (Beacon of Grace Publishers), which reached multitudes of churches and ministries in Spanish-speaking countries around the world.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Martha (Marty) Susan Andersen, three sons, Justin Wayne Andersen and wife, Jenny Michelle Andersen, his grandchildren whom he adored, Harper Ann Andersen, Liam Elias Andersen, and Everly Grace Andersen; Joshua Wayne Andersen, and Nathanael Jennings Andersen and wife Rachel Perry Andersen. He is also survived by his mother, Margaret Adelia Bolton and siblings, Kim Alicia Beall (Bruce R. Beall), Cynthia Lynn Smith (George Smith), Elizabeth Jane Iman (Nathan S. Iman), John Stephen Andersen (Debbie Andersen), David Jonathan Andersen (Eunjoo Andersen), and Mary Margaret Reynolds (Steve Reynolds), as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Wayne was preceded in death by his first wife, Debbie Howard Andersen, a daughter, Krista Andersen, and his father, Charles Jennings Andersen.
Wayne had a ministry of supplying free Spanish Bible study books to pastors, especially those in Cuba and Panama. Anyone that would like to make a donation that would purchase Bible Study books in the Spanish language in memory of Mr. Andersen may contact Sherrie Kinnison at 336-264-0331.

Designers in Dispute
By Emma Babashak, Columbia University, Class of 2024
August 16, 2023
Tumblr media
Shein, a popular fast fashion Chinese-based retailer founded in 2008, is currently facing multiple lawsuits. For instance, one lawsuit has been filed by three independent designers who all claim that the company engaged in copyright infringement and racketeering. These designers allege that Shein sold exact copies of their work, violating the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, which also covers egregious copyright infringement. The filing accuses Shein of continuously committing copyright and trademark infringements, leading to a pattern of racketeering.[1]
Small business owners have previously accused Shein of stealing designs, but the complex copyright laws in the fashion industry have made pursuing legal action challenging. Shein responded to the lawsuit and stated that it takes infringement claims seriously and acts promptly when valid intellectual property rights holders raise concerns.
The lawsuit's plaintiffs include graphic designers Krista Perry, Larissa Martinez, and Jay Baron. They allege that Shein stole their creative works, which caused them to suffer reputational damage and financial losses. Perry's "Make it Fun" graphic and floral blanket design, Baron's "Hello, I'm Trying My Best" embroidered patch, and Martinez's orange daisy overalls were among the allegedly stolen designs. The designers claim that Shein's actions have diminished the value of their work and negatively impacted their careers.[1]
Besides the independent designers, Temu, a competitor of Shein, has also filed a lawsuit against Shein in the United States. Both companies originated in China and have made their mark in the fast fashion industry by rapidly designing and producing affordable goods in response to trends. Shein surpassed industry giants like Zara and H&M in the US market during the pandemic, while Temu achieved a strong position since its launch.
However, Temu has accused its rival fast fashion retailer of violating antitrust laws and engaging in illegal behavior to monopolize suppliers. The legal battle between the two companies has been escalating for several months. In fact, Shein had previously sued Temu, alleging that the latter used social media influencers to criticize Shein online.
In the most recent lawsuit, Temu claims that Shein has employed threats, intimidation, false infringement claims, and baseless fines to pressure clothing manufacturers working with Temu. Shein allegedly imposed exclusivity deals on these manufacturers to prevent them from collaborating with Temu. Temu argues that Shein's intent is to exclude Temu from the market, enabling them to charge higher prices to consumers and offer a limited selection of lower quality products.
The lawsuit highlights the intensifying competition in the emerging industry. Temu alleges that Shein views itself as being in a "war" with Temu and has engaged in anti-competitive practices to hinder Temu's business growth. Shein responded, stating that the lawsuit is without merit, and they will vigorously defend themselves. The legal disputes between the two companies have also involved allegations of false advertising and copyright infringement, impacting their respective businesses.[3]
All in all, these cases demonstrate the prevalence of intellectual property rights and copyright infringements in the fashion world. Shein’s current situation accentuates that even newly created brands can still face lawsuits from independent creators and competitive rivals.
Emma Babashak is currently a rising senior attending Columbia University. She is majoring in Operations Research - Engineering Management Systems and minoring in both Economics and Psychology.

The High Price For Making Cheap Clothing: The SHEIN Lawsuit Explained
By Gregory Martinez,  Rutgers University–New Brunswick  Class of 2026
July 16, 2023
Tumblr media
SHEIN is known, somewhat notoriously, as a platform to get dirt cheap clothes of varying quality. The face of the fast fashion industry, the Chinese based company has long been controversial for its questionable manufacturing practices and the impact it, like all fast fashion brands, has on the environment [1]. Investigative journalism since the company rose to prominence has consistently shown abysmal working conditions in SHEIN factories, from financial misdeeds like workers working without contracts and sometimes not being paid, to safety violations like 17 hour shifts and lack of emergency exits. In addition, the rapid-fire pace in which SHEIN produces its clothes, a staple of its business model that allows it to mass produce products shipped globally, is completely unsustainable and results in unsafe levels of carbon emissions. Despite these controversies business continued as usual, with many young Americans continuing to buy from the brand, however a new challenge has arised as the company was accused of violating the federal anti-racketeering act [2], with these allegations tarnishing the company’s already bleak reputation.
Three artists — Krista Perry, Larissa Martinez and Jay Baron — allege Shein made exact copies of their work and used them on clothing designs for profit. In an official complaint filed on July 11th, the three artists cite various examples of their artwork and designs being used on SHEIN products without their authorization, with stolen ideas being used on wall art and overalls. This is not the first time SHEIN has faced heat for stealing designs, with small business owners having spoken out about similar experiences for years [3]. However the issue with all of these cases has been the thorny world of copyright law when it comes to any form of art and design. Lawyer and journalist Julie Zerbo explained in an interview with NPR that “the law doesn't allow companies to copyright ‘useful things, at least not in their entirety.’” A designer cannot copyright an article of clothing that serves a basic function, such as a sweater, just because they happen to make said article of clothing. What they can copyright is “the creative aspects of their work that make it different from the norm”, a rather vague concept that is difficult to defend in a court of law. For example, if one designs a shirt with a picture of a flower on it, the shirt would presumably not be protected by copyright, but the picture would be. However if someone else were to use the same photo, but with the colors of the flower inverted, that person could argue that the design is different enough to not violate the copyright, despite it looking like the same flower. Because of these frustrating defenses most legal attempts to stop design stealing goes in vain, however the severity of the federal charges brought forth by the RICO allegations could prove a hefty opponent for SHEIN’s lawyers.
The Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) is a section of the penal code most well known for its usage against organized crime. Racketeering is an umbrella term used to describe crimes committed in business dealings, and this latest lawsuit aims to convict SHEIN because of “egregious copyright violations”. The filing stated that “Shein has grown rich by committing individual infringements over and over again, as part of a long and continuous pattern of racketeering, which shows no sign of abating,” and “It is not an exaggeration to suggest that Shein’s pattern of misconduct involves commission of new copyright and trademark infringements every day” [4]. Perry, Martinez, and Baron aim to use the grandeur of SHEIN’s activity to finally cripple the company, and the outcome is far from clear.

Three artists have accused fast-fashion online retailer Shein of deploying an algorithm to recreate their designs on merchandise, bolstering concerns around artificial intelligence infringing on intellectual property.
In a lawsuit against Shein filed in California federal court on Tuesday, Krista Perry, Larissa Martinez, and Jay Baron argue that the company is using AI to identify trending art online and then creating nearly identical copies on a plethora of cheap merchandise without any acknowledgment or profits to the original artists

Since it's one minute until my birthday is over and I'm like this, what's your headcanon on how the dps guys celebrate their birthdays? How do they feel about them??
happy late birthday!!! mine's coming up in a bit, so this is perfect!!
neil: he generally likes his birthday (assuming his family isn't present) the boys always pitch in everything they have to give him an amazing party. I feel like they would all prepare little speeches or poems saying how much he means to them and he just sits in awe blushing like an idiot
todd: ok we all know todd doesn't like his birthday. at least not over-the-top parties and things of the like. I think he would just want a nice little movie night or something with everybody and they surprise him with gifts that he very specifically said not to get even though he loves them all
charlie: this man already has an enormous ego all the time, so when it's his birthday WEEK, he's basically king of the world. he probably wears a 'birthday boy' crown around and makes absurd royal decrees. on the night of his birthday he probably throws a decent-sized party and everybody gets him to most random, gag-gift type stuff (which he loves)
knox: he probably assembles a small get together with the poets and they play a very extra game of truth or dare or something (I feel like he's a guy who loves party games like that or in a modern au maybe like jackbox or video game tournaments). they get him some small gifts and maybe write him very mocking love letters.
meeks: so the week of his birthday he's always very busy getting ahead on his work so he doesn't have to worry on the weekend of his birthday. for some reason I feel like the poets would use all their collective brain cells (approx 2 of them) and make him a really cool scavenger hunt?? like there would be crytic latin riddles and stuff he had to solve to get his nerdy little presents
pittsie: the poets deffinitely went to a local diner for his birthday and just spent from like four in the afternoon till closing endlessly drinking milkshakes, doing goofy dances, throwing random stuff in the parking lot that should not be thrown (think like glass bottles or something this man is unpredictable). the whole staff is so fed up with their antics but pitts has the time of his life.
cam: he also has a very modest birthday similar to todd's. i'm thinking like sitting in by the fire in cozy sweaters and talking about everything and anything. this is the time he really opens up to the poets when usually I think he's hard to crack. he talks about his childhood summers spent at summer camp when the poets pull out a huge, poorly wrapped gift for him and he just internally melts.

I will never resist talking about my favorite things, especially when I can combine two of them in the same post -- in this case Yugioh 5Ds and music. @yu-gi-overload has given me the excuse, and I'm going to run with it, lol.
This playlist was up to 98. Then Certain People (you know who you are, yeah, you) gave me more and now its up to 110. Granted, some of them I hear and think to myself that I should actually take them off because they don't fit as well as I initially thought (most of those are from when I watched it originally 10+ years ago, so that explains why) but I'm lazy and have not. All that to say: this list does not have 110 songs on it. But probably pretty close.
Some of these songs probably only make sense to me and my weird brain. I will not be offended if anyone looks at this and goes "what the heck is that song doing on here?" Because it makes sense to me and that's all that matters.
There are also characters that have only one (or even none) songs for them. This makes me sad. If you have any good ones, please let me know.
On to the playlist! (Categorized for Convenience!)
