Manhwa Rec: Inso’s Law

My obsession of about a year now, Inso’s Law is a manhwa I stumbled on accidentally on mangahere and I’m here for the ride. Unfortunately, I’m literally the only person in my group of friends that reads it. And since I’m desperate to try and convince people to check it out one way or another, I’ve decided the only thing I can do is make a long post about it because I suck at making slideshows. 

So please, sit back and relax, and enjoy my manhwa recommendation of

인소의 법칙: Inso’s Law

The plot as it goes follows:

One day, without any explanation or strange phenomenon, Ham Dan-i wakes up to find her life has turned upside down.

Her new uniform her mother bought only days prior is a completely different design that neither of her parents are questioning. The neighbor next door is a beautiful girl she’s never met claiming to be her best friend since birth.

Even more odd? The school she enrolled in no longer exists, replaced by a complete different one altogether. And just when she thinks this day can’t get any crazier, Dan-i stumbles onto what can only be described an episode 1 exposition dump about the school’s hottest boys everyone calls The Four Heavenly Kings.

With no other explanation, Dan-i is forced to accept her new reality. Somehow, Dan-i’s been isekai’d into a universe that runs on the rules of a manhwaー complete with all the ridiculous and dangerous tropes that come along with it. But the cherry on top of this unwanted sundae? 

Dan-i quickly learns that her role in this novel is that of the Side Character. Specifically, the female lead’s childhood best friend. And no matter what she does to distance herself from her new fate of being the third wheel to her new best friend Yeoryeong’s love life, it’s a ride Dan-i is going to have to take. Willingly or otherwise.

But if the plot alone isn’t enough to grab you, I do have several other reasons for you to consider.

1) Comedic genius

From the extreme lengths Ji-ho will go to present himself as the perfect boy in front of Dan-i’s friends only to laugh his ass off at her misery the moment they turn around to Dan-i’s deadpan reaction to Yeoryeong complaining about someone potentially having dyed blonde hair when the vast majority of their friends have red or silver hair.

Inso’s Law is comedic gold.

While a good chunk of the comedy stems from poking fun at genre-specific tropes (ex. the male lead telling the crying protagonist that he’ll give her ten seconds to cry), the vast majority comes from the casts’ chemistry and banter with one another. 

2) The characters

Whether it’s a manhwa or old shoujo anime/manga, we all know the tropes associated with them.

Over-the-top bullying, 

Blackmailing plots, 

Full-blooded Koreans with hair straight out of an anime,

Kidnapping or bribery in extreme casesー 

regardless of the trope, Dan-i’s seen it all in the many manhwas she’s read over the years.

As such, when our story begins, she is all too happy to try and distance herself from our central five characters to avoid being mixed up the whole mess. In spite of her efforts, however, Dan-i unwittingly finds herself wrapped right up tight in the friend group of that is our Female Lead and Four Heavenly Kings. All of which represent some sort of trope you’ve all likely seen if you’re a fan of these types of series.

And while there are lots of great characters in this series, I’ll limit myself to talking about our leads.

Ham Dan-i ・함단이: Female Lead’s Best Friend

Our isekai’d protagonist who has been tossed into the position of ‘side character’. But like most isekai protags, Dan-i would rather not be in the world she’s found herself in because as she words it ‘I have common sense and can take care of myself’. Keeping the facts of this reality to herself, Dan-i struggles with genuinely caring for her new group of friends and the fact she doesn’t belong in this world. That aside, she’s often tired by the shenanigans she now gets involved in because of said friends.

Ban Yeoryeong・반여령: The Female Lead

Exceedingly beautiful, athletic, intelligent, and takes shit from no man- Yeoryeong is the web novel’s female lead and Dan-i’s apparent childhood friend. Unaware of this merge of realities, Yeoryeong adores Dan-i endlessly and in her eyes, Dan-i can do no wrong. Honestly, if the genre of this manhwa was changed to wlw, Yeoryeong would have no problem and would happily propose.

Eun Ji-ho ・은지호: The Snobby Love Interest

A much more turned down version of characters like Tsukasa from Boys Over Flower/Hana Yori Dango, Ji-ho is still the snobby rich kid love interest. His first interaction with Yeoryeong where he found out she beat his score on an exam, he told her he’d best her the next time. He’s snarky, competitive, but even if he’s a tease he has his friends’ collective back and doesn’t cross their boundaries.

Yoo Chun-young ・유천영: The Stoic & Quiet Love Interest

That guy who never talks to anyone and keeps to himself trope. His smile? Only reserved for the heroine or even small animals. Bonus: he’s a model, one with sweet abs that even Dan-i appreciates. But in reality, Chun-young dislikes the expectations set on him by his classmates due to their preconceived notions of him and would rather nap in the back of class while listening to Linkin Park. 

Kwon Eun-hyung ・권은형: The Calm & Mature Love Interest

The designated mom friend guy, who is all calm smiles and is the one everyone goes to for advice. Honestly, he’s as patient as a saint and he cares deeply about the people he loves. Give him one reason though and he won’t hesitate to swing whether he’s going up against one guy or five. Eun-hyung’s a brawler underneath his Makoto Tachibana-esque smile and he’s a master of the death stare.

Woo Ju-in ・우주인: The Cutesy & Smiley Love Interest

Nagisa Hazuki but if he dyed his hair to a light brown and got some contacts. Ju-in is the energetic oddball of the group who dances to the beat of his own drum. A genius with a photographic memory who’ll fail tests on purpose sometimes just for shits and giggles. But underneath that smile belies a more observant nature than he lets on. He’s also Ji-ho’s childhood pal.

In spite of the tropes they all represent, the main cast of Inso’s Law feel like real people and a real group of friends at that. If you’re a fan of tropey manhwas or romance anime, you’ll be right there with Dan-i going ‘oh shit, it’s that trope’. See Ji-ho laughing his ass off at Dan-i’s superficial suffering but coming through when he knows he’s seriously upset, you’ll definitely nod to yourself ‘now this is friendship’.

The dynamic they all have as the leads to the story is definitely one of the best things about it. Speaking of dynamics, Inso’s Law also has,

3) A healthy balance of romance and platonic relationships

A romance-comedy Inso’s Law may be, but it doesn’t neglect the platonic opposite gender friendships for it. Dan-i forms friendships with many male characters and the majority of them are completely platonic. 

Even characters with romantic feelings for another will put their friendship first. There’s no ulterior motives in their interactions thinking ‘oh if I do this, they’ll like me’ guiding their actions, they’re doing it because they’re friends first and foremost and want the best for them. 

Honest conversations about things that make them uncomfortable or a talk on how no matter how many fakes you come across your true friends will stick with you no matter what. Within and out of our main group of characters, you’ll see this across the board and it’s pretty refreshing since most of the time platonic relationships are barely shown if romance is the main aspect of the show.

So there’s something for everybody, not just diehard romance fans.

4) I am desperate

It’s the way I need someone to talk to about everything that’s happened thus far whether it be in the DMs or ask box. Help a sister out.

That’s all I got in terms of reasons to check this series out. It’s a fun read with a lot to keep you reading and currently ongoing! And with Attack on Titan going on break until part 87 comes out in 2045 and waiting for the return of Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 (or if you are a manga reader like me constantly in pain because X just died. Great), maybe some people who follow me can check out Inso’s Law as a light and fun series to perk them up in the midst of all their favorite characters dying.

HISTÓRIA

Minhwan era filho de um casal de professores, que desde cedo se esforçaram para que o garoto tivesse a melhor educação que eles pudessem pagar. O garoto intercalava suas horas entre os estudos e as brincadeiras com seus colegas de rua, mas só descobriu seu verdadeiro amor quando ganhou seu primeiro livro, aos oito anos; Green Eggs and Ham, do Dr. Seuss. Era um livro pequeno e muito bobo, mas que foi lido e relido pelo garoto várias vezes, até que ganhasse outro livro.

Agora, além de estudar, passava seu tempo na pequena biblioteca de sua escola, descobrindo outros exemplares que levavam o garoto para outro mundo. Falava que queria ser professor como os pais, que apenas riam e falavam que ele seria muito mais. A felicidade do jovem Minhwan estava prestes a ser abalada, quando ele menos esperava. Estava viajando de carro com os pais durante uma das poucas férias que tiveram juntos quando aconteceu um acidente de carro. Os ferimentos de Minhwan foram poucos - o médico disse que se não fosse pela mãe do garoto ter se jogado na frente dele, ele não estaria vivo, mas seus pais morreram no local do acidente. Até então, conhecia apenas os avós maternos, que eram de origem tão humilde quanto os pais do garoto, mas acabou conhecendo seu avô paterno através daquela desgraça em sua vida. Ficou sob a guarda dele, e ao completar 12 anos, se mudou para a Inglaterra com o avô paterno. Era uma vida completamente diferente do que ele tinha antes. Descobriu que o pai era de uma família rica, mas como decidiu se casar com uma mulher que não tinha o mesmo estilo de vida, foi deserdado e passou a viver pela própria sorte. A perda do filho fez com que o senhor Kwon, avô paterno de Minhwan, sentisse todo o remorso por ter abandonado o filho, e queria cuidar de seu neto da forma que devia ter feito com o filho. Os avós maternos foram contra de início, mas entenderam a dor do senhor Kwon - até por passarem pelo mesmo luto -, então com o acordo de que Minhwan poderia visitá-los sempre que quisesse, todos concordaram com aquela situação. Minhwan agora estava matriculado em uma escola inglesa, sabendo apenas o básico para se virar, e teve que estudar em dobro para conseguir se adaptar. Felizmente era extremamente dedicado e aprendia rápido, então em um ano já não era mais o aluno calado de antes, começou a se abrir para contato com seus colegas utilizando o nome Mason, muito mais fácil de pronunciar para eles. Porém, a saudade de seus pais sempre se fazia presente. Quando o avô descobriu sobre a paixão de Minhwan - agora, Mason -, tentou descobrir os gêneros que ele mais gostava e sempre presenteava o garoto com livros - ainda se lembrava de quando ganhou a coleção inteira de Harry Potter em seu aniversário de 13 anos, em inglês, o que acabou se tornando um incentivo e uma ajuda para o garoto aprender a nova língua. Começou a se aventurar por clássicos como Shakespeare, Agatha Christie e Lewis Carrol aos 16, quando entrou para o grupo de teatro na escola, e passou a encenar muitas cenas que já havia lido, e dois quais a fala já sabia decorada. Apesar da vida maravilhosa com o avô, todas as vezes que tinha férias visitava os avós maternos na Coreia do Sul, e a partir de um momento, o avô passou a ir junto. Quando se formou no ensino médio, seguiu o que havia falado mais novo, e entrou em Oxford no curso de Letras e Literatura Inglesa. Era um ótimo aluno, dedicado como sempre, mas não esperava que a vida puxasse seu tapete uma última vez. No seu penúltimo ano na universidade, o avô sofreu um ataque fulminante enquanto dormia, e quando acordou de manhã, o jovem encontrou apenas a equipe médica levando seu avô em uma ambulância, já sem vida. Era a terceira vez que o destino havia tirado alguém que amava da sua vida de forma repentina, e daquela vez, teria que reaprender a ficar sozinho. Havia herdado tudo que seu avô tinha, por ser o único neto, mas abriria mão daquilo para tê-lo novamente consigo. Ao se formar, voltou a estudar logo em seguida, fazendo um mestrado em Literatura Inglesa, e logo em seguida, um doutorado em Obras Shakespearianas. Com trinta anos, voltou a morar na Coreia; dessa vez, em uma vila estudantil chamada Sowon, onde os avós maternos moravam. Comprou a própria casa para morar ali e comprou um pequeno negócio de livros, onde poderia continuar com sua paixão. Depois de pouco tempo, começou a lecionar na Universidade de lá, dividindo seu tempo entre as aulas e o cuidado com Daeo Bookstore, além de passar algum tempo com seus avós sempre que podia. No seu primeiro dia dentro de uma sala de aula da universidade, sentiu que finalmente estava honrando os esforços de seus pais e havia se tornado alguém tão digno como seu avô. Apesar de ter herdado uma grande quantia, tentava viver de uma forma simples, com o próprio dinheiro que ganhava. Usou parte da herança para construir uma casa melhor para os avós maternos, e de vez em quando fazia doações para a caridade ou para a universidade. Những bộ phim 18+ gây tranh cãi của Hàn Quốc khiến người xem… nghẹt thở

Những cảnh quay tình cảm táo bạo trong các bộ phim 18+ này đều khiến cho khán giả phải “bỏng mắt” khi xem.

Đây đều là những bộ phim bị gắn mác phim cấm trẻ em và luôn chứa đựng nhiều tranh cãi với đủ lời khen, chê về ý nghĩa và giá trị của một tác phẩm điện ảnh.

1. The Treacherous

Bộ phim xoay quanh nhân vật hoàng đế có thật – Yeonsangun, người được cho là ăn chơi nhất trong lịch sử các triều đại Triều Tiên, từng tàn sát hàng loạt học giả trong 11 năm trị vì. Theo ghi chép lịch sử, vị vua này từng ra lệnh người dân phải có một vạn cô gái trẻ tiến cung để phục vụ dục vọng và những sở thích quái đản của ông. Không những thế, vị vua này còn bắt các cung nữ phải thể hiện tình ái với nhau, tạo nên những cảnh quay đồng tính nóng bỏng và táo bạo.

Ngoài việc đi sâu mô tả sự sa đọa của vương triều, cốt truyện được đánh giá có điểm sáng khi dõi theo hành trình trả thù của một cung nữ trẻ. Sau khi công chiếu, phim thu hút 1,11 triệu lượt khán giả và thu về 8,9 triệu USD. “The Treacherous” quy tụ dàn diễn viên nổi tiếng như Joo Ji Hoon, Lim Ji Yeon, Kim Kang Woo…

“The Treacherous” được gọi là bộ phim cổ trang táo bạo nhất từ trước tới nay của điện ảnh Hàn Quốc, nhận được nhiều ý kiến trái chiều vì có nhiều cảnh nhạy cảm và phục trang hở hang.

Để diễn tả sự sa đọa của vua Yeonsangun, đạo diễn đã cho hàng ngàn cô gái trẻ ăn mặc những bộ hanbok không có áo khoác ngoài và hở nửa ngực. Thậm chí các diễn viên nữ còn mặc trang phục mỏng manh để lộ nội y trong cảnh thể hiện điệu múa khiêu gợi trước mặt vua.

2. The Handmaiden

Bộ phim cấm khán giả dưới 19 tuổi của đạo diễn Park Chan Wook gây sốt ngay sau khi ra rạp nội địa đầu tháng 6 với 1,8 triệu lượt người mua vé trong hai ngày đầu. Cốt truyện kể về một cô gái móc túi được một đạo chích thuê làm hầu gái cho một nữ quý tộc nhằm bòn tiền. Bất ngờ, người hầu gái giả dạng lại yêu cô chủ quyền quý.

Nữ diễn viên Kim Min Hee vào vai cô tiểu thư Nhật Bản Hideko, được nuôi nấng bởi người cô và người chú đồi bại Kouzuki. Nhờ vai diễn này mà Kim Tae Ri trở thành ngôi sao mới ở Hàn Quốc.

Còn nữ diễn viên sinh năm 1990 -Kim Tae Ri vào vai Sook Hee – đứa trẻ mồ côi hành nghề trộn cắp được tên lừa đảo người Hàn giả danh quý tộc Nhật Fujiwara thuê tới làm người hầu gái cho Hideko, hòng giúp hắn thực hiện mưu đồ chiếm đoạt tài sản của gia đình vị tiểu thư này.

Là tác phẩm của đạo diễn Park Chan Wook nên “The Handmaiden” không thể thiếu những cảnh nóng ngập tràn 18+.

Bộ phim nhận được rất nhiều lời khen ngợi tại Cannes vừa qua và hiện cũng đang nắm giữ kỉ lục phim điện ảnh Hàn Quốc được xuất khẩu sang nhiều quốc gia nhất trên thế giới với 175 nước mua bản quyền trình chiếu.

3. A Muse

Một lần nữa, sau Happy end (1999), đạo diễn Jung Ji Woo đã chứng tỏ tài năng của mình trong một tác phẩm vượt xa khỏi những giới hạn của một bộ phim erotic (gợi tình). Có tựa gốc là Eun Gyo, “A Muse” là một phiên bản Lolita của Hàn Quốc, kể về một nhà thơ 70 tuổi phải lòng cô gái 17 tuổi.

Nữ diễn viên Kim Go Eun đảm nhận vai Eun Gyo. Đây là vai diễn đầu tiên trong sự nghiệp diễn xuất của cô, mang về cho cô nhiều giải thưởng và mở ra một con đường thênh thang cho ngôi sao trẻ. Trong khi đó, nam diễn viên nổi tiếng Park Hae Il, người từng được biết đến với nhiều giải thưởng danh giá qua bộ phim The host, War of the arrows vào vai nhà thơ 70 tuổi phải lòng cô gái Eun Gyo 17 tuổi.

Nữ diễn viên Kim Go Eun không ngại thực hiện những cảnh quay thân mật đến trần trụi với các đồng nghiệp dù đây là vai diễn đầu tay của cô nàng. Cả Kim Go Eun lẫn Park Hae Il và Kim Moo Yeol đều khỏa thân 100% và có những tư thế vô cùng gợi cảm, đẩy độ nóng của bộ phim lên cao.

4. Scarlet Innocence

Bộ phim là câu chuyện kể về một giáo sư đại học 37 tuổi (Jung Woo Sung), người đã rời khỏi chốn thành thị phồn hoa náo nhiệt để về dạy văn học ở một quận nhỏ. Tại đây, anh đã đắm chìm vào tình yêu đầy ám ảnh với 1 cô gái bí ẩn kém mình 17 tuổi…

“Scarlet Innocence” đã làm khán giả bị “ngợp” trước độ “hở bạo” và những cảnh quay gợi tình khoe thân hình nóng bỏng.

Nam diễn viên Jung Woo Sung cho biết anh đã phải suy nghĩ 1 tháng trời mới chịu gật đầu nhận vai bởi nam chính quá xấu xa và “Scarlet Innocence” có những cảnh nóng rất… giật mình. Không chỉ thế đạo diễn của bộ phim còn phát biểu: “Mức độ lộ da thịt của bộ phim khá táo bạo. Nó mang lại cảm giác hoàn toàn khác với những cảnh chăn gối thông thường”.

5. Untold Scandal

“Untold Scandal” kể về Cho Wun, một gã đào hoa, ăn chơi có tiếng và là bậc quyền cao chức trọng trong triều đại Joseson. Những cảnh quay ân ái là điều không thể thiếu trong bộ phim, khi thể hiện mối tình tay ba vượt xa lễ giáo phong kiến của nhân vật Cho Wun. Cả Jeon Do Yeon, Bae Yong Joon, Lee Mi Sook, Lee So Yeon đều cởi áo để thực hiện những cảnh quay này.

6. Human Addiction

Trong “Human Addiction”, Song Seung Heon vào vai vị tướng thời chiến tranh ở Việt Nam và đem lòng say đắm vợ của cấp dưới. Hai người đã có những cảnh quay vô cùng nóng bỏng. Cảnh 18+ của phim khoe được hình thể tuyệt đẹp của 2 diễn viên và cũng gây nóng mặt bởi sự trần trụi và chân thực của từng thước phim.

Trong “Human Addiction”, Lim Ji Yeon đã có những cảnh tình cảm, giường chiếu nóng bỏng và mang tính nghệ thuật cao cùng với Song Seung Hun.

Tuy nhiên đấy lại là những cảnh phim 18+ đầu tiên sau 20 năm bước vào nghiệp diễn của nam diễn viên.

7. A Frozen Flower

Có thể nói A Frozen Flower là bộ phim 18+ nức tiếng của xứ Kim chi, có nội dung xoay quanh mối quan hệ tay ba giữa nhà vua (Joo Jin Mo, tướng quân Hong Lim (Jo In Sung) và hoàng hậu (Song Ji Hyo). Trong phim, cả 3 diễn viên Song Ji Hyo, Jo In Sung, Joo Jin Jo đều có những màn khoe thân nóng bỏng và những cảnh nóng trần trụi, táo bạo.

Cũng giống những diễn viên nữ trong các bộ phim 18+ khác, Song Ji Hyo nude toàn thân và lộ rõ phần ngực còn bạn diễn nam thì để lộ thân hình nam tính, cuốn hút.

8. The Taste of Money

The Taste of Money xoay quanh một chủ đề khá nóng hổi trong xã hội hiện nay – “mặt trái của đồng tiền”. Theo đó, phim “bóc trần” cuộc sống đồi trụy, lăng nhăng của một đại gia. Ngoài ra, phim còn tập trung, khai thác về cuộc sống và tham vọng của một anh chàng trẻ tuổi. Vì quá ham mê tiền bạc nên anh chàng này chấp nhận làm mọi việc để trở nên giàu có, trong đó có cả việc cặp kè với phụ nữ đáng tuổi mẹ mình.

9. For the Emperor

Kể từ khi ra mắt, bộ phim 19+ For the Emperor với những cảnh nóng của hai diễn viên chính là Lee Min Ki và nữ diễn viên Lee Tae Im đã làm cho tất cả mọi người phải giật mình về mức độ táo bạo. For the Emperor xoay quanh câu chuyện của nữ giám đốc quyến rũ muốn một lần được nắm lấy trái tim của chàng trai nhiều tham vọng Lee Hwan (Lee Min Ki).

10. The Emperor’s Concubine

Trong bộ phim The Emperor’s Concubine, nữ diễn viên Jo Yeo Jeong khoe thân hình gợi cảm trước 2 bạn diễn là Kim Min Joon và Kim Dong Wuk. Bộ phim xoay quanh chuyện tình tay ba của Hwa Yeon, thái tử Seo Won và Kwon Yoo.
