Finally rambling about my pre-mutation Candyman i've been wanting to do this for too long
Tumblr media
So ! As previously stated I named him Mehdi Insel. He was a known Lethal League player when it was still legal to play in it, but ! He also worked in a candy store plus he was an actor at the local Theater. He was the oldest out of the 4 kids of the Insel family (24 years old at the time).
He got into the Lethal League when his job and his side gig couldn't afford his appartment. The rest of his family was struggling already with money and so he felt guilty to even think of asking for help. A friend initiated him to the game and soon after Mehdi realised he wasn't so bad at it ! And as he got passionate about it, one night, he had an idea. He combined his current playstyle with his biggest talent, acting.
From that point each match he was in slowly became a theatrical performance, especially if the stage chosen for the fight is the Theater Mehdi works at, with music, costumes and stage lighting added to the experience.
Mehdi got a sudden rise in popularity. No matter if he won or lost, people rooted for him. Behind the scenes however, that rise made him anxious.
He started putting more effort into his style. Each performance had to be better than the last. If not, what would the people supporting him think ? He isn't going to let them down obviously. It was a terrible loop. A well he drowned in.
Of course, time passed and that anxiety soon became fear. Those around him noticed it. It was an awful fire, and yet the audience only saw stars.
This couldn't last any longer. But the way it all ended was much worse.
One day, during the quarterfinals of an important tournament....
Everything was going well, the show went on as Mehdi and his opponent fought in the most natural of ways. Yet near the end of it, when Mehdi was in the middle of smashing the ball, his weapon of choice, his cane, broke.
The ball flew around the room, hitting him right on his back, leaving him on the floor. Injuries during the game is common but not quite like this. Mehdi couldn't get up, and the impact was hard enough for it to ripple throught all his body. He was brought to the hospital immediately.
The last people that saw him alive were the doctors that were in charge of him and his younger brother, Hans, that has been living with him for four years.
Mehdi died two days after the incident.
The game was now declared illegal and as the Police got involved, it found evidence that the ball used during the match was sabotaged and with that in mind the opponent that played against Mehdi that day got arrested and sentenced to death despite the opponent claiming his innocence.
That day, people lost a friend and a brother. He was a talented young man gone way too fast. That's what the Tri-government wanted people to believe.
TLDR: Silly guy "dies" and the government is responsible lol
Anyways this was long ! I hope whoever read that enjoyed it, i'm very very normal about my LLB interpretation thingie

🔥 choose violence ask game 🔥
15. that one thing you see in fanart all the time
the ariana grande-ification of anne boleyn in fanart is truly something. and as an olive skinned white woman, i don’t think white tudor fans know what olive skin looks like. also i think there is a frankly bizarre relationship certain tudor fans have with race (ab as an Other™️ because she was supposedly swarthy, trends surrounding coa being fair and spanish, jane seymour being ‘so fair that one would call her rather pale than otherwise’).
16. you can't understand why so many people like this thing (characterization, trope, headcanon, etc)
i truly do not understand the appeal of characterising female historical figures (largely royal, aristocratic) as powerless victims — with no thought to their complicity in an inherently unjust institution. catherine of aragon (as one example) was immensely privileged to the detriment of the majority of people: she believed in this superiority as morally just and fought for it. remembering what her queenship meant should colour how we talk about her: lauding her as brave for fighting for her status can and should coexist with acknowledging what she was ultimately fighting for.
17. there should be more of this type of fic/art
i myself am guilty of this, but we absolutely need more content about non-courtiers (and content in general that is active and honest about acknowledging the fundamental value of those outside of the aristocratic sphere). wolf hall came close but veers into trying to have it both ways; ‘she [Mantel] wants to relish the bejewelled surfaces, the highly wrought fabrics, the flashing beauties of the Henrician age, while also having a go at the people and the institutions which enabled that agglomeration of riches. The aesthetic delight and the political outrage are on a collision course’. becoming elizabeth’s take on kett’s rebellion was hateful. one of the best jobs i ever had was transcribing local court records for an archive, and getting to meet dozens and dozens of men and women, and hear them talk about their lives.
18. it's absolutely criminal that the fandom has been sleeping on...
critical thinking skills 🥴
i would be remiss if i didn’t plead katherine howard’s case yet again. she’s such a force of personality — charming and delightful and ‘fired with ambition’, when i think her ability to be as successful as she was as queen, given her lack of experience and the brevity of her reign, is nothing short of remarkable. i think people are genuinely missing out on someone so engaging when they dismiss her as either whore or victim. it’s a constant frustration, for me, that the way we talk about her remains so superficial.
25. common fandom complaint that you're sick of hearing
god, i have so many of these; you could just send me 25s repeatedly atp haha. i think the most annoying thing though is the people who get weirdly offended by the insinuation that this fandom is, indeed, a fandom. there is this hypocrisy over how legitimate engagement can be — but ofc., certain people can be called ‘stans’ (indeed, ab fans can invent terms like ‘heneven eleven stans’ and ‘seyhive’, because people are just that painfully uncreative) but god forbid somebody, in turn, calls them ab stans. ‘i’m not a stan, i have a BA/BS/BE/LLB’; you write fanfiction — you are not serious people lol. it’s not an academic conference… nobody cares about you. you can leave if you’re not having fun, nobody is forcing you to be here.

Hiiii I’m currently considering future career options and i remember you mentioning that you’re a paralegal?? Would you mind explaining what’s involved, university experience and just as much as you can about it?? It would be so helpful and id really appreciate it! <333
hey ofc!! so covid hit when I was in year 13 which meant I got my results without doing any of my a level exams, I got a decent ABB and that’s what you needed to get into the university I wanted to get into.
so I applied through ucas and got into law llb, that was originally a 4 year course including a placement year but I didn’t do a placement, instead I did multiple vacation schemes during the 3 years so I had experience after I was done. vacation schemes are like 2 or so weeks long, so they were really helpful, I looked through indeed and your university has places where you can look to get vacation schemes plus they send you a ton of emails about jobs that can help with you getting experience. I also did some voluntary work at my local solicitor place for a few months. I also did online work experience through websites like forage because of lockdown etc.
so when it came to getting my degree I also had experience so I basically applied to every single law place I could find to become a paralegal, start local, there’s so many solicitor places locally, and then I went to as many interviews etc until I got accepted into one. now I’m looking into doing an sqe (it’s the exams you take to become a solicitor) but that costs like £4k for the two exams, also you get like only two tries at that, so I want to be really prepared once I do take them.
my biggest tip is get loaddsss of experience, during your uni holidays, don’t just spend it at home or in bed lol, get out there and do some voluntary work or even get your drivers licence because you’re going to need it lol. plus make sure you have a really good cv, the first thing a place sees of you, is your cv, so make it eye catching but not too long!

DOUBTS , LIMITING BELIEFS
Where do they come from ? *insert Jolly LLB : Kaha se Aate hai yeh log meme* lol 😂
Okay nowww let’s get to the hot topic ! What are doubts and limiting beliefs and where do they come from ?
Doubts and limiting beliefs are just a waste of your power and they do not benefit you in no way Whatsoever. They stop you from reaching your full potential as the creator and God that you are. And they get in the way of your manifestation.
Where do they come from ????
The doubt and limiting beliefs that you have in your mind are NOT YOURS ! You simply picked them up from other people. Lemme explain it with an example : suppose you go out for a walk and obv you’re wearing your shoes , you walk a lot and come home but you see that your shoes bought in all the mud and dirt from the outside. What do you do ? You clean it up and throw it back out. That’s where your limiting beliefs and doubts come from. You go out , meet other ppl , you chit chat with them and they talk about their problems , oh I’m so broke , im so poor and im 3 months late into my rent and I don’t even have a job and I don’t have any money and it’s so hard to make money , you’re gonna hear that from them and that’s gonna impress your mind. You’re gonna think Oh yeah it’s not possible to pay rent without a high pay job. You already have limiting belief about money. You grew up in a toxic household and your parents were always fighting and being very violent. You didn’t grow up with an example of healthy love and that’s what impresses your mind especially as a child and you have another limiting belief to what love is. And that’s gonna play into YOUR romantic life too.
Do you know what to do with those limiting beliefs ? Exactly what you did with those mud and dirt ( doubts , limiting beliefs) you brought into your house ( mind) , clean it all up and throw them out ( work on your self concept and know what you deserve ). You can work on your self concept through affirmations , subliminals or even visualisation and SAT’s.
I’m sure this helped you learn something. I love you and see you soon🍓🎀💋

yesterday white customers came in and they were talking to me as i finished up their coffee and as i admitted that im a trainee and my latte art isnt up to scratch yet, the man asked me what my POA was working here, casually. i told him i was working this job while working to get my name out as an artist. he started talking about florence and his wife asked if i had ever been. i stared at her in consternation. i have never been off the continent of africa. as i said so, they brushed it off with an 'oh, someday you'll see it, then," and started talking to me about michelangelo. they were kind in assuming my future success in a non-essential field, but i couldn't help but wonder as they left if they would have asked the same questions of my lead barista, a black woman who is working this job while doing a distance learning llb (law degree). if they would've talked about lawyer friends they knew and how smart and successful they were. if they would've talked about which firms they had contacts in. and it felt to me that the incongruity of me working there as a white person was something they were compelled to find a greater reason for, to soothe their worldview.

Bonjour à tous, it’s 8c and cloudy but I am sure that we will have some sunshine today.
Tumblr media
The concert last week was absolutely amazing, and I surprised myself at how much of this music I knew! I think we all hear excerpts of music, on the radio and television without knowing the name or where it’s taken from.
Had an appointment with the dietician and I was going to tell her to “sling her hook” if she was as rude as she had been last week. Well, I either got her sister or she had had her happy pills because she was very polite and even spoke in English at times, smiling as she did. I have an appointment for a months time, I chose a morning appointment (catch her at her best) and I will be weighed then.
I had a little look at the plants in the garden, lots of greenery appearing, even on the clematis which I thought had not taken well. I think I planted it in 2021, and I am hoping to have some flowers on it this year.
I seem to be forgetting a lot at the moment, probably due to the fact that I have so much buzzing around in my head. I almost forgot the appointment with the dentist….. it was to “try the new crown”, well it needs some adjusting so I am back again this coming week. He suggested a day and time, time coincided with my knitting group meeting so I said no can do! You should have seen the look on the dentist and nurse’s faces….. does no-one say “no” to a dentist? Am I supposed to have no life other than doctors and dentist appointments? Well, I may be an “étrangère” but I do have a busy social life here!
The second thing, that I had forgotten, should have had a mention last week. Drumroll please…… “The Paralegal” is no more and with effect from 30 January he is now “The Trainee Solicitor”, all those letters after his name LLB, LLM and now working towards his next goal, becoming a Solicitor.
“The Daddy” who has followed in my footsteps and gone into banking, received a gift from a very happy customer. Spending time, listening and dealing with peoples requests may seem a little frustrating at times, especially if you have other work which should be done, but it can also be just what that customer needs at that time and they may wish to reward the person, as was the case.
Now here is a note to myself: do not leave jobs to do in a rush the following morning! I had to get out of bed very early to catch up on jobs before the cleaner arrived. As a consequence I did too much and felt quite unwell. However, I did go out for my walk in the afternoon and that made me feel so much better. I actually sat outside for about 15 minutes and as the sun was very warm I tilted my face skyward for 10 minutes free vitamin D.
I had a telephone message from one of the new ladies to the knitting group, she wanted to know if I wanted to attend the course to be given by the firefighters on what to do in an emergency. I said yes, before realising that I may not understand fully all that is being said. However, on the intérnet I have found information (in French) about the course so I can study this before I go. Good heavens I am doing such a lot of homework on these subjects 😂.
On thé subject of the knitting group, there were photos in the paper of the AGM and although just half of me appears in one photo it means it is the third time I have been “in the paper”. I also was mentioned in the blurb as the “nouvelle intervenante”. I met the “old one” whilst out walking the other day and she congratulated me on taking on the roll.
I don’t buy a paper midweek so my walks often involve visiting the bar to catch up on news. Believe me, I know a lot of what is going on in this town, although I do sometimes miss out on things. Well I can’t be everywhere can I? I do have doctor and dentist appointments to deal with 😂😂.
Today, I have the video call with my friends in Bristol. It will be good to hear all of their news, however, I have just had a really long video call with my sister in the UK and that has blown todays schedule right out of the water.
I decided to look for a poem about winter sun and this appeared, not sure who the poet is but it seems to say exactly what I wanted to say. Here is the excerpt.
Winter’s Sun by Asmat Naushad
“There is something about the winter’s sun.
the florescence of the beaming rays
the calmness of the flowing sunshine:
convinces us about the warmth of the winter’s sun”
I am also planning a “little something” to take place (hopefully) week commencing 20 February, more on that next week.
See you next time. Bon dimanche!
