Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's government unveiled details of its plan to cut $500 million from government spending Thursday — and not all departments are going to be feeling the same impacts. While some agencies like the Canadian Space Agency and the Invest in Canada Hub will see more than one per cent of their spending frozen and returned to government coffers, 61 departments and agencies don't appear on the list of government bodies taking cuts. The government said the cost-cutting initiative excluded agents of Parliament and small organizations with budgets under $25 million a year. But many of those not included on the list of organizations affected — such as the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service and the National Capital Commission — have budgets much higher than $25 million.

I’m glad the Conservatives didn’t win the federal election in Canada but I am deeply concerned at how close the contest was.

It was a choice between a man known to consort with neo nazis and the convoy terrorists, who couldn’t attend any q&a sessions because he was too busy gargling trumps wrinkly nuts, who denied the genocide in Palestine and was creepy about women and their “biological clocks” and known to be anti-choice, a transphobe, a man who would hand us over to the Americans to be the 51st territory vs a fairly right leaning liberal who may be decent at finances but is a little old school.

And this was a close race.

I feel like I’m taking crazy pills. What the fuck Canada?! How was this a contest? Is maple maga really so common place?

Also big fuck you to the liberals in areas where the NDP were projected to win who still voted liberal, splitting the vote and allowing the CPC to take the win. Guess strategic voting only counts for NDP voters when you want something.

I’m so fucking tired.

I finally got to vote Liberal for my first time since becoming a Liberal. It was super hard, because I'm agoraphobic AS SHIT, but I did it.

Canada's greenhouse gas emissions rose in 2022, as the economy rebounded from the pandemic slowdown, according to new figures released by the federal government. The new National Inventory Report data shows emissions reached 708 megatonnes in that year, compared with 698 megatonnes in 2021. But Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault said the 2022 numbers are a sign his government's climate policies are working, with emissions totals the lowest in 25 years aside from the pandemic years.

It sucks that Longmont Potion Castle is a hard sell for most people I know because I'm not good at effectively describing the reason he's so funny and it's one of those things you kinda gotta just show people for them to understand. It's also difficult to sell anything that's a series of prank phone calls because most of those tend to be very same-y in tone and not very funny but LPC is extremely funny because of how surreal they are and how irrationally angry most of the people being called get.

Like I know exactly how it feels to be told 'you gotta listen to this one guy who does prank calls they're so funny bro trust me' by a friend in high school and it ends up being extremely unfunny and offensive for the sake of being offensive but LPC is on another level. He's just calling up random businesses or people under a very obvious fake name and saying just harmless surreal things like asking if he can buy a liter of salad or if they carry music by a non-existent stupid sounding musician and most people have extremely overblown angry reactions to it. And he keeps going on in a non-aggressive way and it's incredible. The man's a genius and has permanently altered my vocabulary.
