I mean they do mental assessments on subjects. That is a pretty significant thing that happens. Like I understand where you're coming from here but they very much do ask how the subjects doing.

hey hi hello 👋
pictured above: my cat, who is an absolute buffoon. a downright fool. someone please come collect your bastard.
not pictured: me, who is an absolute buffoon. a downright fool. someone please come collect your bastard.
so i decided i didn’t have enough projects going on, which means now i’m here and pretending i know how to be a studyblr. probably minimal original content because my handwriting is not the best, but i wanted a dedicated place to store reference posts for bullet journaling and aesthetics and the occasional writing tip
there might be a few original posts that are of my attempts to bullet journal or maybe have a clean page of writing, but we’ll burn that bridge when we get to it
also i’m labhrás, but you can call me lab. nice to meet you ✌️

The Bad Batch reminds me so much of a dnd party. You've got: Hunter the "Ranger", Crosshair is a "Rogue", Tech's "Wizard/Cleric", and Wrecker is clearly a Barbarian. It's absolutely hilarious.

Galaxy-Brained 2 AM thoughts with Ollie: reposted from Reddit (it's still my thoughts and writing tho)
When talking with people about why capitalism is always kids go to when creating a system of commerce, I received this piece of "wisdom":
"Capitalism is natural. You have something I want, money, I have something you want, a good or service, we exchange. Everyone's happy, and the world keeps turning." (I don't think I need to even get into how wrong that is to everyone here, but this post is about the social dynamics of species.)
As illogical as it was, I did take a moment to think. What DOES make distribution for wealth natural? What makes a leader that serves the people properly and without corruption that of birth? I personally, (to keep things short and simple because it's 2:21 am) think it comes down to one thing: survival instinct. Family groups of wolves, "packs", for instance, an often widely misused symbol in the right, have a very specific social structure that I think computes to how we run things, and how we SHOULD run things.
When people think "wolf pack", they think "alpha, beta, omega". A leader at the very top, eating first and keeping the others in line, a beta to carry out the alpha pair's bidding, and an omega class, which lives under the protection of the alpha pair in exchange for lablr and food. It may not be the best system, but it works... right?
In reality, wolf packs look something more like this, and you can see it literally in the marching order of a wolf's pack, although thanks to reddit, I can't post a text and image in one.
In a wolf pack, it is largely improper to designate any singular wolf an "alpha." Wolf packs are family units, and parents are always going to be dominant to children. However, they always have the common interest in mind. To not would mean the death of their pack below the top line, certainly spelling the end of the pack as a whole, and, if each and every pack has said ideals, possible extinction of their species.
In a famous image (that again, I can't post), a singular wolf leads a giant pack. Many interpretations go around, but, in reality, one stands to the truth.
A dominant, mother female leads in waist-deep snow, -40 degrees f. She is cold, hungry and tired. However, she treads on. Why, if she could go somewhere else easier traversible and find food on her own?
Simple: every wolf in the pack follows in her footsteps, literally. To conserve energy, her children, parents, and nieces, nephews and grandparents all follow her. This job never lies to a single wolf, being rotated. To feed this large of a pack, the current female must lead through the deep snow to reach migrating bison, enough food to feed the entire pack. Food is plentiful, and shared between family. The scent is always followed and the path agreed upon by many. These packs are some of the most plentiful in the world.

Basically, the common trope with wolves you see is more accurate to capitalism, and may seem "tougher" but is ultimately unnatural and incorrect. So long as resources are plentiful and go unwasted, distributed, and healthily harvested (unlike in the form of, I dunno, literal millions of tons of food waste like to does in America), the pack thrives. Also, wolves are cool and can help us eat the rich.
The real organization of wolves is how things should work. Equally earned, equally shared, equally voted. Leadership exists, but only to serve the people. I don't believe everything should be cut away from those who have worked for it, but there's simply no one in the world who works for a 10 million/day salary.
I'm thinking about doing a second one of these comparing the social inadequacies of lions to capitalism... Part 2? Let me know!

Just had my biggest lab incident yet. Thermal runaway of an NaH reaction, cue billowing smoke, tar everywhere, a prompt smack of the emergency purge button and a rather pissed off post doc. Feel like a fucken eejit but in all honesty it could've been worse. At least there was no fire, or explosion. Will make for a for a very awkward meeting with my supervisor next week tho.
