Lala Anthony On People Saying She Can’t Act – ‘If You Can Do It Better Then Why You Not Getting The Jobs I’m Getting?’ + The Hilarious Reactions To The Fatal 'Power' Twist!
Tumblr media
Lala Anthony heard y’all saying she can’t act, and now, she’s responding. Find out what she said inside…
WARNING: If you haven’t watched the latest episode of “Power” yet, stop reading.
The last episode of “Power” was an emotional one for Lala Anthony as her character – LaKeisha Grant– was killed off the show. What’s crazier is the fact her home girl Tasha St. Patrick (played by Naturi Naughton) was the one who blew her brains out. It had to be done after Keisha signed that paperwork saying she would work with the feds to bring her boyfriend Tommy Egan (played by Joseph Sikora) down. Besides, being on a show like “Power,” it’s inevitable that you’re going to be killed off at some point. It’s also the last season of the drama series, so we expect folks to be dying left and right.
Stopping by Power 105’s “The Breakfast Club,” Lala talked about what it was like shooting her final scene and how she found out she was being killed off the show.
”If you’re going to leave a show, then you want to leave a show with a bang, literally," she said. "You want people to talk about it. You don’t just want to disappear, and nobody cares about it. I feel like this is a moment people will always talk about.”
Interesting.
The “Power” actress said she doesn’t let her 12-year-old son, Kiyan Anthony, watch the show, but she did let him see this episode.  We would have surely thought this would have been the one episode he SHOULDN'T watch.
“Power” creator Courtney Kemp and “Power” producer/star 50 Cent sat her down to deliver the news her character was going to die.
“I understood it. It’s a show that people die. You just never know when it’s going to be your chance. To be honest, LaKeisha lasted a long time. That character was never supposed to be that big or grow to that. To see where LaKeisha started and where she ended, it’s just a testament to the fans who fell in love with her, the fans who hated her, and the fans who just wanted to see more.”
Speaking of fans hating, Lala shared how she feels about people who say she can’t act.
“Not really. You got to be worried when people aren’t talking. My thing is that…I’m doing it. So, if I couldn’t do it, then why am I doing it? If you can do it better then why you not getting the jobs I’m getting?”
She said just because she had a different journey to become an actor doesn’t mean she didn’t put the work in.
”These people aren’t just giving me jobs because I’m me. They can hire anyone. They’re giving me jobs because I go in there and I put the work in,” she explained.
Not only does she put the work in, she has a platform where she can get more eyeballs on a show/movie.
”And I also bring a following with me. I have almost 10 million followers on Instagram. People watch what I do. What’s the point of having these great shows if nobody’s watching them? You want people to watch. So, if you can do it better then you bring your 10 million followers and you do what I do.”
To be fair, that is actually getting the job because you're you.  At least in part.
Lala said people just want to hate and have a reason to hate. She said when icons like Debbie Allen, Samuel L. Jackson and Phylicia Rashad tell her they love how she’s playing her character on “Power,” why would she be concerned with what trolls are saying on social media.
“If they telling me that, you think I give a f*ck about what some Twitter troll or Instagram person say? If Debbie Allen is telling me, ‘I want to work with you. I love what you’re doing.’ I don’t care what nobody else ever says to me,” she said while talking about attending Tyler Perry Studios grand opening last weekend.
Welp, there you have it.
Lala also talked about her new role on Lena Waithe’s “The Chi,” starring and producing a STARZ show titled “Intercepted” with 50 Cent, her 12-year-old son Kiyan dating, how she feels about her estranged husband Carmelo Anthony not playing in the NBA, and more. Peep her interview below. Start at the 22:04-minute mark to peep her clapback to the trolls:

After the last episode of "Power" aired, La hopped on social media to react to her shocking death:

“Power” Season 5 Finale: [SPOILER] Gets Shot! Are They Really Dead?!
SPOILER ALERT: This post contains major spoilers about the “Power” Season 5 finale. Do not read if you have not watched “Power” Season 5 Episode 10: “When This Is Over.” *** Well, that was a hell of an episode, wasn’t it?! After watching Power on Sunday (Sep. 9), I vowed to never watch that show again until Season 6 premieres next summer. Power is known for its cliffhangers. In the first season, Holly took a bullet meant for Ghost, leaving viewers to wonder whether or not she would survive to see a second season on the show. In Season 2, Kanan Incredible Hulked his way out of a botched killing at the hands of Ghost. The Season 3 finale had us all kinds of f***ed up when we saw Tariq passed out on that lean, and Kanan was supposedly holding him for ransom. Plus, Angela arrested Ghost for the murder of Greg Knox. Season 4’s finale made Season 3’s look like an episode of Sesame Street, because Raina got shot and killed over her brother’s bullsh**. And now that we’ve made it to Season 5, things are really heating up. At the end of last night’s Season 5 finale episode, once again, a bullet meant for Ghost ended up hitting someone else, and this time it was AUSA Angela Valdes—who got hit right in the chest. And guess who pulled the trigger? Ya boy Tommy Egan. Like, WTF Tommy?! After getting caught by the feds at the end of last week’s episode, Angela put herself on a 24-hour clock to make a decision as to whether she would snitch on Ghost and Tommy (and Tasha too) or fight the law to prove her (not) innocence. In this 24-hour timespan, Angela rallied Ghost, Tasha and Tommy to make sure everyone was on the same page and to close up any gaps the AUSA office could use to take them down. Meanwhile, Mak & Co. spent that same 24 hours trying to get Tasha, Tommy, LaKeisha, Proctor, Angela, Dre, etc. to flip on all or some of Ghost’s organization to save themselves. When it looked like the case wouldn’t move forward, Saxe, frustrated as hell, went to Tommy and told him that Ghost tricked him into killing his own father, Tony Teresi. Saxe gave Tommy a copy of the tape in which Teresi implicated Ghost in Mike Sandoval’s murder, but made sure to say Tommy played no part in the crime, saying that Tommy keeps him at “arm’s length” when it comes to all of his dealings. Tommy, filled with rage about Ghost supposedly double-crossing him, Tommy tracked Ghost down and found out he was meeting with Angela at their old high school (where they had met earlier as a group, including him and Tasha). During their secret meeting, Angela asked Ghost point-blank if he had killed Terry Silver, who had returned to try to get Tasha to snitch on everybody, but had disappeared near the end of the episode after we saw Ghost watching him and Tasha have sex from a distance. After an awkward pause, Ghost swore he had nothing to do with Silver’s “disappearance” as we watched a flashback of him choking the lawyer to death. As he and Angela kissed, he told her he loved her, and when Angela looked up, she saw Tommy pointing a gun at her from above. Angela pushes Ghost out of the way, and then BAM! She gets shot. When Ghost looked up and saw Tommy, wearing a look of satisfaction, Ghost did his famous Harambe scream. As the screen fades black, all you can hear is “Angie! Angie! Angie!” as the AUSA struggles to breathe. Wayment. Is Angela really dead?! Because if so, her and Ghost are officially done. In order for them to work out, she has to at least be alive. We’ll have to wait for the Season 6 premiere, which will be around summer 2019, to find out what happens, but if you’re wondering whether or not Angela has already gone up to that great big courtroom in the sky, showrunner Courtney Kemp has the answer for you. And it’s no: Angela isn’t really dead… YET? “I can say [Lela Loren, who plays Angela] is in Season 6, but I can’t say what she’s doing,” Kemp told TV Line. So it sounds like Angela is still with us… for now, at least. TV Line also asked Courtney whether or not we are reaching the end of Power‘s story. She has has said in the past that Power isn’t a 10-season show, and we’re already halfway there, with Season 6 set to go into production in the fall. “I’m not allowed to answer that, per Starz,” Kemp said in response to a question about Season 6 possibly marking the end of Power. “But what I can say is that the story is coming to an end.” Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, who executive produces the show along with Kemp, has said that he doesn’t think Power will go past Season 7. “I was telling [executives] in the very beginning, when they talked about how long do you think the series is going to last, I said seven,” he told ABC news. “It’s going to go seven.” 50 Cent’s character Kanan died in last week’s episode, but Courtney says Fiddy still be a major part of the show behind the scenes. “[Jackson] will he have other things to do [on the series]. For sure, that’s the whole point,” she told Deadline. “He’s expanding into producing much more and really giving notes and reading scripts.” Fifty added that no one is safe on Power, much like The Sopranos. “We’ve created a template for the show that is non-Hollywood,” the actor told Deadline,” he said. “Anyone can go. There’s no one in the show that can’t die.” http://feeds.gossiponthis.com/~r/gossiponthis/~3/EARQBjQ7zZE/ The post “Power” Season 5 Finale: [SPOILER] Gets Shot! The prosecution is going for the jugular! Get a sneak peek of tonight’s all new Power titled, “The Kind of Man You Are.”
Courtesy of 2016 STARZ Entertainment
No title was more correct for an episode than last week’s Power, ‘Things Are Going to Get Worse.’ Ghost is trying his hardest to keep a low profile while locked up, but Marshal Williams isn’t here for it and neither are his fellow inmates. Plus, Agent Mike Sandoval (David Fumero) added another level of drama for Ghost’s case by planting the gun he used to kill Knox in his office at TRUTH and Mak was able to get the death penalty put on the table! Keisha is scared that she’s going to end up in her own orange jumpsuit after watching the feds search the St. Patrick home. However, Tommy is able to quell those fears with a little sweet talking and a whole lot of D. Tasha tries to maintain by keeping her kids in check, but Tariq isn’t making that situation possible. ‘Riq feels the need to go through a douche-bag phase since Kanan has become his puppet master. Dre is expertly moving weight through TRUTH and he needs to to keep the pockets of Kanan, Jukebox (Anika Noni Rose), and non-factor character full so they don’t reveal the truth that he knows Kanan is alive. And finally Tommy has expertly moved into his new role as top drug kingpin, but there’s a possibility that Julio who’s in charge of distro and Domingo (G-Rod), a Primera’s first aren’t willing to fall in line with him at the top.
Now for Power: Season 4, Episode 3 titled, ‘The Kind of Man You Are;’ directed by Larysa Kondracki and written by Jeff Dix the heat goes up a notch.
The federal prosecutors turn up the heat on Ghost by pulling his known associates in for questioning, forcing Tommy to execute a plan that diverts their attention from his drug organization. Meanwhile, Ghost butts heads with the new second chair on his case who sees through Ghost’s façade. Back in prison, Teresi learns more information about Ghost and begins a blackmail scheme. After Greg is laid to rest, Bailey Markham resurfaces to help clear his friend’s name, focusing his attention on taking down Angela as the mole. And in his father’s absence, Tariq seeks out Kanan’s guidance. (via STARZ Entertainment, LLC)
Check out this clip from tonight’s episode where Ghost meets the new second chair, Terry Silver (Brandon Victor Dixon) for his case:

Tonight, the prosecution’s and defense’s strategies focus heavily on exposing Ghost and Angela’s relationship…welps! Get a sneak peek of tonight’s new Power.
Courtesy of 2016 STARZ Entertainment, LLC
Judging from last week’s Power premiere, things are really not going well for Ghost or the St. Patrick family, and it’s coming from all sides. Despite a valiant effort from Joe Proctor, Ghost is still in prison without bail and is being abused by the prison guards (*SIDENOTE* John Mak might be an asshole, but he is FINE! OHITHERE Sung Kang!). Tasha finds herself in dire financial straits, which is further compounded by having to deal with young Tariq (who seems to be running around with unsavory folks). Tommy is hella suspicious of Dre and this “Slim” chracter… as he should be because it’s Kanan! SMH… and judging from the title of tonight’s episode, the St. Patricks and associates won’t be getting any relief soon.
(To read about more favorite moments from “When I Get Out” go HERE!)
In “Things are Going to Get Worse” (written by Heather Zuhlke, directed by Sanford Bookstaver):
As Proctor works to protect his client both legally and in the public eye, Ghost faces harassment in prison, garnering the attention of one inmate who has a mysterious interest in him. The prosecution team discusses their legal strategy for taking down St. Patrick, bringing Angela’s role into question. As connect, Tommy struggles to let go of his old duties, especially when some primeras are uncertain about the new organization. Tasha talks to the kids about what’s going on with their father, garnering two very different responses from Tariq and Raina. And Dre takes on more responsibility at Truth, giving him a new avenue for distributing product. (via STARZ)
Check out two clips from the upcoming show. In the first clip, Proctor is going over strategy with Ghost, which focuses on discrediting Angela. In the second video, LaKeisha wonders if working with Tasha and Tommy is such a good idea:
I can’t believe John is asking Angela those personal questions too! On the other hand… I guess he’s trying to figure out how to flip all this in his favor.

We need Ghost out of jail and running things in these fictional streets!… Can Silver sans help from Proctor make this happen?! Let’s take a sneak peek of tonight’s all new Power titled, “Don’t Thank Me” and see what happens when we watch the episode at 9/8c.
Courtesy of STARZ Entertainment
On Power, “We’re in This Together” crap hit the fan when Proctor needed to recuse himself from Ghost’s legal dream team when prosecution let the cat out of the bag that he also was the lawyer from Tommy. Proctor didn’t see the conflict of interest, but Proctor is also constantly putting his career and freedom in jeopardy due to his ties to Ghost and Tommy, so we already know he doesn’t think clearly. See how well Ghost took the news with this clip.
We already know that Silver isn’t a fan of Ghost’s, but we believe he will do his best to get Ghost off. And as Ghost dealt with the knowledge that Proctor wasn’t going to be by his side during his trial, Tommy makes things worse for our fav lawyer by killing Bailey Markham (Lee Tergesen) in his home. This is the first death of season 4 by Tommy’s hand and it makes wonder who is next… will it be Proctor or LaKeisha who’s shop was shut down when the Feds froze the St. Patricks’ assets? With the assets being frozen how will the family survive? And will the miracle to #FreeGhost and get the money flowing for the family come at the hands of Angela who found out Ghost never hid the gun that killed Knox in his office?
Tonight on Power, “Don’t Thank Me directed by Sanford Bookstaver ‏& written by Raphael Jackson, Jr. & Damione Macedon…
With tensions high after Proctor’s disqualification, Silver warns Ghost that Tasha may have to testify. Meanwhile, now aware of Ghost’s innocence, Angela struggles to find a way to stop the prosecution. As Tommy faces mounting pressure from LaKeisha around their relationship and the weave shop, he’s forced to come clean about his past. An old colleague resurfaces to offer Ghost and Tasha financial support with strings attached. And Teresi sets a plan in motion to eliminate Ghost, but things suddenly change when Ghost inadvertently proves he still has value. (via STARZ Entertainment, LLC)
The struggle is real for everyone these days and we’re going to see if the Feds have something that can bring down the St. Patricks, Tommy, LaKeisha, and possibly Proctor…
We see the pressure is on. Let’s find out how much, when you live tweet Power, ‘Don’t Thank Me’ with us at @WeSoNerdy tonight at 9/8c. Until then, here are some more pics from tonight’s episode.
