#Langa ''catches'' him one day before S
Ok so as some people may be able to tell I recently got into sk8 the infinity sooo some sk8 the infinity headcannons it is (also please keep in mind some of these may be a bit ooc as these are my personal headcannons)
So we know joes shop is cherry favorite place like that's been confirmed by the creators so it's my headcannon that he was their on joes opening day to help him open the place (and test the food)
Reki absolutely loves to cuddle
Joe is so emotional because he's so afraid to become emotionally disconnected as adam
Miya has a long cat plush called mr mittens and you can’t convince me otherwise
Reki hops from hyperfixation to hyperfixation with his main one being skating (honestly same)
(⚠️warning⚠️ yes I know this is a mainly outplayed trope but I’m a sucker for angst (in moderation) and the found family trope sooo) Miyas parents will leave him at home for days sometimes weeks on end with enough food for that time frame and enough money to last (barely)
Shadow collects dvds and brings them to joes when they all just decide to dog pile their for the night after S
Langa constantly loses his phone charging cord and they will end up in the weirdest places (the fridge, freezer, the ceiling fan once???, etc.)
Miya. Loves. Legos (and so does reki) enough said
Shadow had mega blocks as a kid
Someone (Miya) taught cherry slang (slay, visco girl, yass) once and everyone was horrified as Cherry walked into the room and this played out
Kaoru/cherry: this movie is so- slay?
Kaoru/cherry: Miya did I use that correctly?
Miya: *instantly dying of laughter*
Everyone else: *horrified*
Kojiro/joe: please… for my sanity and everyone else’s… never again…
Kaoru/cherry: *begins to protest*
Reki: never again!
Miya can’t cook for anything so when his parents leave him alone (see headcannons above for explanation) he (reluctantly) calls joe who calls Cherry and they go pick him up bringing him to sia la Luce
Miyas hoodie once ripped and Joe and cherry fixed it with a little cat patch (it’s hidden under his hood so you don’t see it most the time but when his hood is up you can catch glances of it)
Miya started ironically calling Cherry and Joe mom and dad but now it’s become the Norm for all the kids however reki switches between mom and dad and their real/S names and langa just says their real or S names most the time
Langa and reki can be caught cuddled up in a booth at joes before S after school watching skating videos with Miya occasionally joining the corner (not cuddled up with them unless it’s a bad day or something but even then it’s platonic between them) relentlessly teasing the two about how they should kiss and date and then immediately calling them gross when they actually do date
One day everyone just kinda finds out kojiro/joe and cherry/kaoru are married, like they suspected it long ago but now their finding out oh yea they’ve been married 3 years and nobody knew this is how that exchange went
Kojiro/joe: *kisses cherry/kaoru*
Kojiro/joe: alright don’t forget tonight’s movie night with the kids so pick up popcorn on your way home
Kaoru/cherry: kind of hard to forget when they’ve been screaming about it all morning you big dopey gorilla
Everyone else: *in complete and utter shock*
Kaoru/cherry: *plainly* it’s rude to stare you know.
Reki: you two! You!
Miya: mom and dad kissed!
Kaoru/cherry: I am not your mom! Also of course we did, I mean one would assume 3 years of being married would be plenty long enough before kissing
All three of the kids: your what!?
Kojiro/joe: married? Yes almost 4 years now
All three of the kids: *jaws dropped*
Ages! Because I cant find any good official sources for how old they are!
Adam: 25
Kojiro/joe: 23
Kaoru/cherry: 23
Shadow: 22
Langa: 16
Reki: 15
Miya: 12

day 2 - "accidental"
Submitted by GA!anon
The first time was an accident. Truly. Reki had only been trying to help Langa get better footing on his board and placed both of his hands on Langa’s sides to keep him stable.
And he felt his friend tense up in a way that he was all too familiar with.
Being outrageously ticklish himself, Reki knew the tell-tale signs of someone who knows just how much danger they’re in if they let out so much as a squeak.
The second time, Reki felt like he was trying a tad bit too hard to make it seem like an accident. They were hanging out with Joe, Cherry, Shadow, and Miya, all of them sitting around and eating before their big race. Cherry and Joe were arguing as per usual and Reki wanted to get Langa’s attention to get him to focus on a cool new skateboard trick he’d found online. So he poked his friend in the side and watched Langa jump almost a mile into the sky and choke on his half-eaten sandwich. It all very quickly dissolved into chaos as everyone in the group just watched Langa sputter and gasp for air without really knowing the cause of it.
And Reki definitely noticed just how red Langa’s pale face had gotten too.
And now…now he was alone with Langa in the middle of the store as they waited for their manager to return and give them a break to go to S. It was just the two of them on the most boring Saturday that Reki had ever experienced. They’d already tried listening to music, watching videos, but nothing  was…well, stimulating enough. And Reki just kept staring at Langa, knowing exactly how to entertain himself, but not sure how to begin.
“Hey, Langa,” Reki started, trying to force himself to sound casual. He even leaned against the counter and crossed his arms over his chest. Super casually.
“Reki,” Langa responded, not even looking up from his phone.
“We’ve been friends a while, right?” Reki continued and pulled out his phone as if he too were looking at something far more important.
“Yes,” Came Langa’s neutral response.
“But we don’t really know a whole lot about each other aside from skating,” Reki sighed. “But there is a game that we could play to learn more about each other,”
Langa looked up from his phone finally and raised an eyebrow, obviously interested at this point.
“It’s twenty questions. You have to answer yes or no and you have to tell the truth,” Reki demanded and leaned in closer to Langa excitedly. The Canadian, looking as unpreterbed as usual, just shrugged.
“Do I get to ask you questions too?” Langa asked, tilting his head to the side in an annoyingly cute way. Reiki thought about it for a moment and nodded.
“Yeah, sure, why not.” He said dismissively. “Okay, I go first. Um…”
Can’t start off too strong.
“Do you wish your skateboard was another color?” Reki asked.
“No. Are you bored, Reki?” Langa asked. Again, something about Langa saying his name sent a shock of electricity down Reki’s spine that he had to willfully ignore.
“Yeah, duh. Do you have a favorite memory of moving here?”
A smile tugged on the edges of Langa’s lips.
“Yes. Are you good at keeping secrets?” Langa asked. Reki did actually have to think about that one. Of course, he wanted to immediately say yes, but sometimes…well, the only person he would ever tell would be Langa.
“Yeah, I would say so,” Reki shifted a little, “Are you ticklish?”
The smile got a little strained on Langa’s face and his friend suddenly was very interested in his own ratty sneakers.
“Is there another game that we can play? Maybe we can watch more trick videos,” Langa said evasively.
Now, Reki watches cartoons and right now he felt as if two devilish cartoon horns forming on the top of his head. This was an in.
“We were playing a game! Just answer the question!” Reki insisted and moved closer to his friend. Langa crossed his arms over his chest and stared down at the floor with more intensity. Reki ducked down and tried to catch his friend’s gaze.
“Are you ticklish, Langa?” Reki asked, a teasing sing-song added to his voice. Langa’s lips pressed together.
“Can I skip that question?” Langa grumbled. Reki smirked.
“Sure,” He shrugged, “Where are you the most ticklish?”
“Reki.”
“It’s a simple question, Langa,”
“I already told you that I don’t want to play this–”
It was already too late. Reki lunged and grappled with his friend for only a moment before they were both on the hard floor of the skating store and Reki’s fingers wriggled over Langa’s sides. Langa tensed at first, his big blue eyes going wide, and then he dissolved into just the cutest fit of giggles that Reki had ever seen. Immediately, Langa curled up in on himself, trying weakly to bat away at Reki’s hands as he giggled away.
“You should have answered the question Langa!” Reki laughed along with him. Those pesky hands fighting back were making it hard for him to target any spot in particular. That was tad annoying, but it was definitely fun trying to evade them as well. Instead of wiggling his fingers, he shifted gears into just poking randomly at different spots on Langa’s upper body to see what got the best reaction out of him.
“Reheheheki!” Langa giggled and squeaked as a few key pokes found spots on his ribs that made him twitch.
“And since you’re skipping out on answering my least question…where’s your most ticklish spot?” Reki said smugly as he continued to poke around Langa’s upper ribs. He wanted more squeaks, that was for sure. “Is it around here?”
“Nohohoho!” Langa squeaked as Reki’s prodding fingers poked around his ribs some more.
“No as in ‘please don’t tickle me there’ or ‘that’s not my most ticklish spot’?” Reki teased. He shifted gears again, this time making his hands into claws and digging around Langa’s sides and stomach since he couldn’t get good purchase around the rib area. That would have to wait for another time. Maybe if he told Shadow and some of the other older (and stronger) people in his group, he could get some help in taking Langa down.
The claws seemed to be doing the trick though as laughter poured out of Langa’s mouth with abandon. His whole body went limp, his face scrunched up with laughter, and his nose doing just the cutest little thing as it crinkled up.
“Cute,” Reki muttered, mostly to himself. He turned back and noticed how Langa’s legs were kicking out as he continued to tickle him. Interesting.
“Hey, I think I may have a plan to find your most–” Reki started, leaning back and placing a hand on Langa’s leg to try and shift himself around.
In the blink of an eye, the tables were turned. Langa had not only shoved Reki off of him, but had also pinned him to the ground. This time though, Reki was on his stomach and Langa sat comfortably on his legs, granting him zero protection.
“Hey wait–” Reki squeaked.
“Reki, are you ticklish?” Langa asked innocently. “Yes or no,”
  To....be.....continued.......

(Name) stared out the window with their chin propped on the palm of their hand boredly as the teacher continued on about some chemistry problems and their equations written on the board, his back turned on the students. Their mechanical lead pencil twirled lazily in their fingers, a low sigh going through their nose. The young skater stopped listening to the lecture a few minutes ago. Class was already half an hour in. Their mind had long abandoned the subject of today's lessons, swimming down a path of old memories as their eyes stared at the passing clouds. It was a windy day. Their boyfriends mentioned doing some more skill practices after school during their lunchtime for one of Langa's upcoming races with one of the known skaters in the underground group which both boys refused to let (Name) in.
Although (Name) really didn't had any intentions of joining in the S organization. They weren't one for racings or competing against others. They had seen the injuries both Reki and Langa received. It broke their heart seeing their boys be cover in bandages. Such injuries brought an old childhood memory of theirs.
Back when they first started skating on their own, they would be cover in band-aids themselves after spending hours upon hours on learning how to ride a board. After an hour of struggling to step on the board without sliding off from it and earning themselves a scratch on one of their palms or knees, (Name)'s mother would bake them their favorite treat, a plate of warm, delicious blueberry muffins with a glass of milk beside it. Just from the thought of it in their memories made their mouth watered.
Before their mind wander further into their memories, the last bell of the school day rang throughout the whole building. Students begun to pack their stuffs while the teacher remind them of their lessons and their homework for the night, (Name) taking their time as the rest of their classmates rush out to hurry home.
Bored (colored) eyes looked at the school building as the owner stood beside the gates. They waited patiently for their boyfriends to meet up with them at the gates, as they promised during lunch. Squinting their eyes, (Name) saw a mop of baby bluer hair bouncing slightly as Langa ran up them with a determined look on his face.
"(Nickname)!" Langa called out as he reached them, his signature skateboard in hand while the other held his bookbag. "Ready to go? Reki said he would catch up to us later at the usual spot. One of his teachers held him back to get him back on track on his assignments." He explained. (Name) mouthed out an 'oh' as they nodded.
"Ah, I see... I imagined it was the English teacher, huh?" They said, shaking their head when Langa nodded. Though, they didn't mind starting on the training without Reki, (Name) wanted to hang out with both their boys. "How about we wait for Reki st my house? Besides, I've been thinking about making some blueberry muffins. We can make some together and eat them when Reki comes over." They suggested, looking at the other skater.
Lanha stared at his partner, a clear look of a debate going in his head.
"Okay." He answered after a moment of silence.
(Name) grinned and took his hand in theirs, intertwining their fingers as they led the way to find a grocery store.
It was getting close to evening. Reki had texted to the trio's group chat about coming over to (Name)'s house. Thankfully it was a Friday night, having the whole weekend to spend it over at their house while going out to get some training done. Langa and (Name) spent the rest of the time until Reki came back from school gathering the ingredients and measuring them up. From preparing the batter, to mixing the berries in to baking the muffins and letting them cool down after taking them out of the oven.
The duo heard furious knocks coming from the front entrance of the house. (Name) gestured to Langa to stay in the kitchen and place the muffins on plate as they went to check who was at the door. Their eyes beamed when familiar face grinning back at them.
"(Nickname)!" Reki announced, already wrapping his arms around the other skater. "Aah, I missed you!" He said, nuzzling his face against their shoulder. (Name) laughed as they returned the hug and patted his hair.
"It's only been a few hours after school, Reki." They said, chuckling at the cute pout the boy gave after pulling away from the hug to look at them.
"Still! It felt like days." Reki commented, moving away inside the house to let his partner close the door behind them. "Where's Langa? Didn't he came home with you?"
(Name) nodded over to the kitchen before heading back to it with Reki following behind. "Yeah, he did. We stopped by a store to buy some stuff to make my favorite muffins." They answered, grinning lazily when they saw Langa tried to keep a small pyramid of blueberry muffins together on the plate. He wore a concentration look on his face, little bit of his tongue stick out with his brows frowned down their forehead. "Langa~, Reki's here."
Cutting his attention away from a muffin falling down the top of the food pyramid, Langa stood back up with a smile. "Reki! Look, I helped (Nickname) made their favorite muffins." He said, pointing at the muffins with a proud smile on his features. Reki chuckled and nodded, walking over with (Name).
"It really does look delicious."
"Right! I hope they taste as good as my mom had done for me."
"They're cool down, so let's try them."
With Langa's suggestion coming into actions, each skater grabbed a muffin and took a bite into the treat.
"Ooh... They're so good!"
"Really? I think they're second to my mom's."
"Tastes sweet like you..."
Silence grew over the trio as Reki and (Name) looked over at Langa and his comment. Right in the exact moment after the comment left the blue-haired boy's lips, a rudy shade blush decorated (Name)'s cheeks.
"L-Langa, dude! Don't say such corny shit!" (Name) whined, pouting as they covered their face after putting the muffin back on the plate, growing flustered. Langa smiled as Reki laughed loudly.
"Haha! He's not lying, though!" Reki said, pulling their hands away. Once his partner looked at him, Reki stole a quick kiss from them. "See, you do taste like blueberry muffins, so sweet!" He teased, grinning at the other skater's face continued to burn from the teasing.
Witnessing the teasing, Langa huffed and took (Name) by their chin and made them face him, planting a quick kiss, too, surprising them further more as their flushed face grew heated one last time. They sweared they looked like a ripe tomato if the tease continue further. "Hm... Sweet..." Langa muttered, smiling at his partner. Reki grinned, nodding in agreement.
"Oh my gosh..." (Name) whispered under their breath, covering their face once more. "You guys are so corny..." They sighed, smiling a little as their heart fluttered against their chest. (Name) was glad to met the two boys. The duo always know how to get under their skin with the teasing and the affection. They don't mind it, though. It always brings a smile to their heated face and make their heart flutter in love.

“So how long are we gonna stand here?”
You and your boyfriend, Miya, were standing in a skate park with the sun setting in the sky, casting a calming golden light over the concrete. It was a school day, so most kids were at home, leaving the place empty for the two of you. You weren’t a skater like Miya, that was for sure- you didn’t know a thing about skating. But, you didn’t feel like staying behind anymore while he went off with his friends to skate somewhere. So now, here the two of you were- Miya with his usual board while you had a spare from Dope Sketch.
“Yeah, yeah, I’m sorry,” you apologized, tapping your foot anxiously on the ground with your arms folded across your chest. “I just need- I just need a minute.”
“It’s been, like, ten minutes,” Miya replied, arching a brow at you. “You were the one who asked to come, you know, and it’ll be dark soon.”
You sighed apprehensively, pursing your lips and staring into the space ahead of you, your board resting underneath your foot. Gathering your courage, you nodded resolutely. “Right. Let’s do this.”
Miya gave you a skeptical look.
“Okay, fine.” You threw your arms in the air in surrender. “I’m just not convinced I’m not going to faceplant and die. Or I won’t be able to stop and get hit by something and die. Or I’ll accidentally run into something and die-“
Miya , exasperated, raised his hands in the air. “Okay, okay, I get the picture- although all of those scenarios are really unlikely to happen. But seriously, you’ll be fine- I’m here to catch you if anything goes wrong.” He paused to look into your eyes, making sure you understood him. “We’re just going over the most basic of basics, ‘kay?”
You remained quiet for a while. “What if I embarrass myself and end up looking stupid?”
“Then I’ll laugh.”
“Miya!”
He smirked. “Kidding. Anyways, we’re starting now- I hope you’ve got your nerves together. Make sure your gear is on tight before we start- especially since you’re a beginner.”
You nodded, pushing your helmet down onto your head and adjusting your knee and elbow pads. “I’ve got it.”
Miya nodded as well before moving his skateboard out beside him. “Good. Okay, when you’re about to skate, there are two main positions people take…”
Since then, you’d been out to the skate park with Miya almost every day- sometimes practicing, sometimes just goofing off- and over the course of two weeks, you had the basics mastered. Then, after three months, you had an intermediate knowledge of skating. And finally, after six months of practice and studying six out of seven days a week, you were almost at the same level as Miya. Your fear of it had gradually disappeared- although you still tended to avoid overly extravagant tricks and high ramps. You still didn’t want to race in the “S.” But now you could tag along with your boyfriend and his friends whenever they went out to skate for fun, and on private dates with just you and Miya. And that was enough for you.

5, 18, 29?
5. What’s a fic idea you’ve had that you will never write?
So I don’t like saying never, since things could always change. Some ideas never take off and some ideas seem dead before rising up out of the ground like zombies to torment the living.
I do have a Lot of Sk8 multichapters that there just simply is not enough of me to write. Maybe I’ll pick one of these up if/when we get an S2, or if I manage to publish an original book between now and then and feel better about writing longfic. They include:
1) a three part Fodlan AU epic where the Sk8 crew starts as a group of Robin Hood-esque outlaws before being arrested by the notorious Hubert von Vestra and conscripted as agents of Adrestia. Starts as adventure but turns into a war epic where they all struggle to recognize not only each other but also themselves.
2) Sk8 pirate AU
3) Sk8 thriller/murder mystery where someone dies via overdose of a mysterious new drug at S. Adam is caught between the yakuza, who think he’s branching out into dealing on their turf, and the police. The crew has to solve the crime before either party catches up to them.
4) Not a longfic, just not high on my list per se because it’s a little too bleak even for me.
Eden. Zombie apocalypse fic where skilled skateboarders, cyclists, rollerbladers etc are the best way to get messages or resources around the island. It starts out as the 8 of them but the crew dies one at a time as the years go on, until Adam and Langa are the only ones skilled enough to still be alive. They find comfort with each other in their shared history and shared solitude, and by the end it’s the only thing keeping them going.
18. What’s one of your favorite lines you’ve written in a fic?
Oh man this is a good question. There’s a lot I’m genuinely proud of, but probably this bit from From the Garden. (Sorry, including the whole paragraph because my fave lines doesn’t make sense without it)
Then there was Tadashi.
They’d been close, then far apart, then close again. The stubborn silence and hurt of the last seven years lived in Ainosuke’s bones right along with them coming back together, wanting to build a future after wasting all that time in an emotional standoff. No matter which way he looked at his life, it was a palindrome, with him and Tadashi growing distant and then close again.
Finally, he settled on memories of being a child with Tadashi, of that spectacular summer where Tadashi taught him to skate and they’d spent every day together. No matter what else had happened, Ainosuke had just needed to see Tadashi and their decks and he’d feel like he could fly. It was the happiest he’d ever been.
If he was fading, those were the memories he wanted to fade into.
29. Share a bit from a fic you’ll never post OR from a scene that was cut from an already posted fic. (If you don’t have either, just share a random fic idea you have that you don’t plan on getting to.)
HMM there was an original draft of the Grell peril scene in Passing the World By that was a little hornier (inspired by a scene in the second Elvira movie), to the point where I decided to cut it and possibly expand it into its own fic at some point. This text won’t stay the same, but I want to repurpose the scenario.
To his surprise, he arrived in a chamber that was dimly lit by oil lamps. A desk littered with papers sat at one end of the room with a messy bookshelf behind it. All around the room, old torture devices lay in all sorts of configurations, rusted, dusted, and covered by cobwebs.
Sebastian fought the urge to stop and organize things. Just because someone was an occultist was no excuse for mess. In fact, he’d seen plenty of examples for why one should keep a tidy workstation when communing with the nether reaches of reality.
However, a steady, loud, clicking sound coming from the next room drew his focus instead.
When he opened the door to a spacious antechamber with a stone dais at the center, the person inside made eye contact and grinned wildly, tinged with a panic he’d rarely seen in a Reaper’s green eyes.
“Bassie! Oh my, how long has it been? Thirty years?!” She shifted uncomfortably, her back against stone. “I know I always say this, but I am glad to see you. Your timing is impeccable, you know that?”
Sebastian stepped through the entryway and took stock of the situation.
Grell Sutcliff was bound to a stone dais in the center of the room, her arms held over her head in a pair of strong metal stocks, while her ankles were locked in a second pair at the end of the dais. A matching metal collar was wrapped around her throat, her hair bunched up underneath it at the hinges as it kept her from lifting her head too high. Her captor had left her glasses, which didn’t seem like a mercy, considering the circumstances.
Overhead, a bladed pendulum hung in the air, swinging ominously back and forth directly over Grell’s stomach—it would have been nearly imperceptible to a human, but Sebastian could see that it was dropping further down. The sharpened blade glinted in the light, and it was easily identifiable as a reaper’s scythe.
He caught himself smiling. What an interesting predicament she’d found herself in.
“If I didn’t know better, I’d think you arranged this.” Sebastian leaned over, then glanced up at the blade overhead as it swung and ticked a notch closer. “Did you really miss me that much?”

Akihiko can feel a pair of eyes boring into the side of his skull. He's felt it for a couple minutes now while he's quietly been watching the crowds at S. Red eyes scan around before meeting amber, brows raising.

Summer Time (Family) Madness
It's been a hot minute, hasn't it? And it's not even new content rip. But still, have these 5k words that will replace the poorly written original chapter 2 of this trainwreck that holds a special place in my heart.
First | Chapter 2 | Next >
AO3 | Original Chapter 1  | Original Chapter 2 | Original Chapter 3 | Original Chapter 4
“Langa…”
Reki rolled onto his back, dropping his book on his face and groaning. Langa watched as the boy spread out like a starfish on his bedroom floor, not moving the book away and seeming overly dejected. He was still wrapped up in his usual yellow hoodie, sleeves rolled up to his elbows. Always that yellow hoodie, always wearing that thick sweater despite it being the end of July. He was still in that sweater, the bright yellow one that had started to fade from the overexposure to sunlight, the one that never failed to draw Langa’s eyes towards the boy. Or so that’s what he told himself as he wrapped his arms around his knees, physically holding his leg back from swinging and landing a kick to Reki’s side in an attempt to jolt the boy back to life.
Despite the summer having finally rolled around, schoolwork never stopped, which kind of sucked. There were no more of those summers where Langa would just lounge around the house, watching cable television while his parents worked. There were no more summers spent at his grandparents, summers he would spend playing in their yard. There were no more summers free of school work; Japan hadn’t caught on that the hot months of the year were supposed to be spent not thinking about school. Or maybe it was that there was so little summer heat in Canada – unlike in Japan where it was just constantly hot – that the people in charge of the education system decided to enjoy their summers not working. Langa never really got why summer meant vacation, but that wasn’t his problem. Not anymore at least, now that he had to spend his summer doing homework.
Thankfully, he had Reki to share his homework with. That was if the boy had any intentions of working on their assignments before the last day of break. Knowing Reki, he was most likely going to repeat last summer and rush through everything, resulting in a week’s worth of detention due to the poor quality of his work. And as much as Langa hated the idea of working on assignments, he wasn’t ready to miss out on a week worth of fun just because Reki hated schoolwork even more than he did.
“An hour a day. We agreed on an hour a day to get your grades up.”
“Not like yours are that much better than mine.”
Reki’s voice had been muffled by the textbook still resting on his face. If he stayed like that any longer, Langa would have expected the ink from the pages to have imprinted itself onto the boy’s face, but before he could even entertain the idea of studying off of Reki’s cheeks, he flipped onto his stomach with yet another groan. It looked almost painful for him to do, but once he was comfortable again on his floor, the textbook neatly tucked under his folded arms and chin, Reki let his eyes skirt over the words. He was back to work.
For five minutes. Reki had lasted five minutes before falling asleep, snoring softly into the gutter of his math book. The hums that usually filled the air as they studied together had been replaced by a steady breath, a sound Langa had grown far too accustomed to over the course of the year of impromptu sleepovers. It was just easier to crash in the same room after a night spent at S. It saved Reki the detour of dropping Langa off. It allowed them to catch a few extra minutes of sleep before the morning alarm started to blare in their ears. Or at least that was what Langa told himself.
With a sigh, Langa set his own book aside to poke Reki in the side. The boy yelped as he jumped, grabbing his waist in an attempt to avoid being poked again.
“Dude! What the hell? Don’t just… Don’t do that!”
“You fell asleep.”
“Yeah well, I… Maybe I need the rest! We’re supposed to be on break, after all.” A smile curled onto Langa’s lips as Reki flopped to the side, still whining. “Can’t we go out and skate instead? This is so boring.”
Langa sighed, slumping his back against Reki’s bedframe. His eyes didn’t shift away from the body on the floor, his eyes trailing across the sun-kissed skin, his gaze forming constellations with the pale freckles that ornated Reki’s face. Or at least, he did so until he noticed what he was doing. Quickly, he shook his head, the words he had meant to say finally tumbling out.
“I can’t today. My mom is going to kill me if I don’t show Emmy around like I promised.”
Reki shifted on the floor, slumping his back against his closet door to face Langa. The short-lived nap must have gotten to the boy, his eyes a little duller than usual as he stared at Langa. They lacked their usual shine of excitement, instead seeming a little foggy.
“Your girlfriend?”
“Cousin, Reki. She’s my cousin.” Langa shook his head at the boy. “I don’t know how many times I have to tell you that she’s my cousin and not my girlfriend.”
Had he lacked the self-control, Langa would have muttered something about being too gay to have a girlfriend, but instead, Langa bit his tongue and simply watched Reki squirm across from him. Maybe he should have said something. Maybe if he had said it, Reki would stop assuming every girl in his life was his girlfriend. It was always “How is it possible that you, Prince Langa, haven’t at least had a girlfriend back in Canada?” and never why he didn’t have a boyfriend. Then again, it may have been rude to assume someone was gay.
Langa huffed, thinking back to the time he had managed to render Reki speechless. It didn’t often happen, but with just enough confidence, he was capable of anything, even rendering Reki speechless. It was a surprising moment, really; he hadn’t done much besides lean closer to Reki with a smirk, asking him if he was jealous of the girl who had just asked him out. He hadn’t expected such a strong reaction from Reki, flames taking over his face as his eyes grew wide, his voice cracking over fragments of words and stammering worse than usual before stuffing his hands in the pockets of his hoodie and kicking his skateboard into motion. He had rarely raced off so quickly and Langa swore he heard Reki mutter something resembling a yes, but that must have been wishful thinking. If Reki were to be jealous, it wasn’t of the girl; he, too, deserved to be asked out and gifted chocolates and love confessions every other week, even if the thought of it made Langa’s stomach twist.
“Can I come with?” Langa blinked at the boy who was once again sprawled across the floor. “I’m just so bored at home!”
Langa shrugged, closing his textbook. Thinking he’d get any extra work done was purely hopeful and naïve thinking. “Sure, but Emmy’s not exactly… fluent in Japanese.”
“Neither are you.” There was a beat of silence. Then Reki sat up again. “Wait, no. You’re pretty fluent, just…” Reki reached out, his fingers curling around one of Langa’s notebooks and flipping through the pages. “You write like shit, dude. How do you even revise with these notes?”
Heat formed under Langa’s cheeks as he snatched his notebook back. “I’m not that bad!”
“Pretty sure the twins have better handwriting than you and they’re not even in school yet!”
“You know what?” Langa got up, half-glaring at Reki as he messily stuffed his homework back into his bag. “No, no you can’t come. You’re going to have to deal with your boredom all on your own.”
“No!” Arms wrapped around the boy’s ankles, not letting him move away from the body on the floor. “C’mon! Don’t be like that! I’m sorry! I’m just teasing!”
Sometimes, Langa’s cold exterior came in handy. It took a lot for him to crack, no matter how badly he wanted to smile or laugh. He was more than aware that Reki was just teasing him – not that he was wrong; Langa’s handwriting really was shit – but part of him wanted him to feel at least a little bit bad. Nothing major, not for too long – he wasn’t evil after all – but just for a bit. Or maybe he was evil. Was it evil to purposefully make your best friend feel bad after he just insulted your handwriting? Langa didn’t know; he had never had friends who would tease him the way Reki did.
“C’mon dude, please? Please let me come?”
“Fine.” A smile finally blossomed across Langa’s face as Reki let go of his ankles. “But I’m not translating your endless rambles about boards. You go way too fast and the words are just gonna…”
The softness of Reki’s smile as he got up to be eye level with Langa almost made him melt. “I know, man. I know you have a hard time switching between languages.”
Reki was always so understanding. While his brain was constantly buzzing, ideas bouncing around at the speed of light, Langa’s seemed to shut down at the most unfortunate times. Whenever he needed it to work for him, such as when he was put on the spot and was expected to give an answer, it just decided to go on vacation, leaving him a silent, panicking mess. Or at least, he felt like a panicking mess; others, more often than not, either assumed he was too cool to be answering questions or that he was a total airhead, which he guessed was fair. Maybe he was a little bit of an airhead at times, but most of the time, it was just his brain refusing to cooperate with him. Most of the time, it was the anxiety, or maybe it was just all those high expectations. Regardless of what it was, all he knew was that when someone asked him for an answer, he froze up.
A few people had asked how it was that he was so bad at everything except skateboarding, but he hadn’t given them an answer. Except for Reki. He had answered Reki, but that was probably because Reki had been gentler when asking how it was possible for Langa to know all the answers when it came to skateboarding. And he had answered honestly: he didn’t think then he was skating. He was good at it because he didn’t think; everything went so fast, he didn’t have time to think. He just acted, all his answers for himself and himself alone. He didn’t need to be in someone else’s head when finding answers. He just had to do what felt right to him. Nobody expected anything of him, nothing except what he normally did which was what he wanted.
Skateboarding was easy. People… not so much.
“Quit overthinking this. I’m sure we’ll manage something. And if not, we’ll just mime stuff at each other until we get each other.”
A light chuckle escaped Langa as Reki mimed miming, his arms waving through the air. He had no idea what the boy was trying to communicate with his charade, but neither one lingered too much on that. Instead, he calmed, his focus suddenly lingering on the small point of contact between the two boys, the warmth of Reki’s body against his.
“You know,” his voice was back to its usual coolness, though he could feel a stutter on the tip of his tongue, “there is this thing called a translator app. Not perfect, but better than me.”
“Aw, man, don’t be so hard on yourself!” Reki leaned even more into Langa, his head on the boy’s shoulder. “I’m sure you’re gonna be a great translator!”
As Reki peeled himself off of Langa, the warmth dissipated almost immediately, leaving Langa cold once more. Despite the sun beaming down on all of Okinawa, Langa still felt cold when Reki wasn’t next to him, touching him, cuddling him. It wasn’t weird for best friends to cuddle, was it? People could cuddle platonically, right? It had to be a thing. Girls did it all the time at school, all huddled together, some on each other's laps, arms linked as they giggled together. So it wasn’t weird to have Reki cuddled into his side while they watched skateboarding videos, buried under blankets, in the dead of the night.
“C’mon, man! You’re zoning out on me again! Race you to your place?”
Langa blinked a few times before giving him a curt nod, dropping his skateboard and pushing off after Reki. He wasn’t going to think about cuddling Reki. Nope. No way. Not happening.
Once again, it wasn’t hard to spot the girl sitting on the curb of the road. Her blond hair shone under the hot summer sun, bright against the dull color of the apartment building. Her phone screen also helped with the shine, rays of sunlight reflecting off of it as she continued scrolling mindlessly. If Langa had to describe the girl, phone-addict was one of the first things he’d say; she didn’t do much other than scroll through the countless apps she had. Really, all she did was pull her knees to her chest and stare at a screen all day, which was probably why Langa’s mother had asked for him to take her out for the day.
At the sound of the screeching wheels of two skateboards coming to a halt, Emily lifted her head, seeming a little disoriented. She blinked at them, as if not recognizing the boy in front of her, but as soon as the connections were made in her brain, a grin broke across her face as she bounced up.
“About time you got here! I’ve been–!”
Brown eyes flickered towards Reki, a color breaking across her cheeks as she bit her lower lip. Her fingers picked and pulled at her phone case, a nervousness so uncharacteristic from the girl Langa remembered from his childhood, and yet, it made him bite back a smile.
“Hello, I mean,” she fumbled with her words and her phone, worse than Langa had on his arrival in Japan. “Hello,” she repeated in highly English-accented Japanese.
A cold sweat swept over Langa. As much as he wanted to laugh at the girl and her struggles, he was suddenly more concerned and aware of his own presence. Was he to play translator or was he supposed to let her try and communicate on her own? Was it rude to let her struggle or would it be ruder to cut her off and just tell her that he’d translate whatever she said? Had it been a mistake to let Reki join him today? Should he have told him that he was busy and couldn’t come with him?
“Hello, I… I hope I not…” Reki leaned closer, whispering to Langa in his native Japanese. “How do you say ‘intruding’ in English?”
“Bother.” The English rolled off of his tongue far more naturally than the Japanese ever did despite having spent years speaking it and having lived in Japan for the past year. “I hope I’m not bothering.”
“Bot–! Bot… I…” Reki grinned, pointing at Langa. The clunky attempt at English was quickly replaced by a smooth Japanese. “That! Whatever Langa said, that.”
It would have been easy to have ignored the situation, make nothing of it. Nothing spectacular had happened, after all; Reki had tried to speak English just as Emily had attempted to speak Japanese. Except everything had happened and Langa felt like he could just die. And not just because he would have to play interpreter between Reki and Emily.
It was ridiculous, really. It had no business making his heart skip a beat in his chest the way it did. It wasn’t even like it was the first time he was hearing Reki try to speak English! And yet, here Langa was, the corners of his eyes prickling with potential tears, the urge to curl up in a ball on the ground, knees pressed to his chest, stopped by the mere fact that he was not dramatic by nature.
Reki was cute. Reki was absolutely adorable and it was going to kill Langa. His accent was everything, an accent Langa had never really noticed since Reki never spoke English aside from the couple of words he had to utter during English classes. And Langa had never really thought about speaking English with Reki; the most that would happen would be him turning a word over in his mouth until he found the Japanese translation. He had never seen Reki try so hard to communicate in a langue that wasn’t his own, the concentration so visible on his face as he tried to repeat the words Langa had given him. And when the sheepish grin spread across his face as he gave up? That was it. Langa was gone. Langa was lost to the brightness of the boy, to his ridiculously adorable ways. How was it possible that he had somehow gotten even cuter than he already was?
“Hey, Langa?” Emily’s voice drew Langa back to reality, her fingers curled around his forearm. “You good there? You look like you’re about to have a panic attack.”
“Cute attack actually.”
The words were already out by the time Langa was clasping his hands over his mouth, eyes widened with shame. It was too late; there was no taking them back now. They were out for the world to hear rather than in the safe space in the corner of his mind. His deepest, most embarrassing thoughts had been verbalized, and there was no doubt about that given the way Emily was biting her lip, failing to conceal her laughter.
“You…” A snort escaped the girl, her laughter falling like a waterfall now. “You have it so bad! How have you not slipped up yet?”
“This is your fault!” Heat rose to Langa’s cheeks as he hissed at the girl. “This is all your fault! You—!"
The corner of Langa’s eyes caught on a wisp of red, red that drew him in as always. Amber eyes had been cast down, staring at his fingers picking at the fraying hem of his sleeve. There was a shadow over Reki’s usual brightness, a shadow Langa had learned to quickly notice. It came with the tugging of sleeves, something Reki only did when he was uncomfortable. Something he only did when he felt unwanted. Something he only did when he felt out of place, the last thing Langa wanted him to ever feel; Reki should never feel out of place next to Langa.
“Reki?”
“It’s okay, Langa. I… I’ll just go home. I’m sure I can do something for my mom and you, well, it’ll be easier for you.” He forced a smile as his eyes met Langa’s. The grin looked as fragile as Langa’s heart. “You’ll come around later? Or like, you’ll text me tonight?”
“No.” A pause. Downcast eyes and slender fingers grabbing for the soft yellow fabric. “Yes. No, Reki. Please.” The eyes rose like sunshine in the morning, pulling a grateful smile from Langa. “Please don’t go. I… I want you here.”
“And,” the voice was shaky but held a lot more confidence than what Langa had mustered up all those months ago when he first arrived in the new country, “I understand. Just… Just go slow please?”
The Japanese words were slow and slightly butchered by an English accent, but still, they left a pool of relief in Langa’s chest. He wouldn’t have to translate everything, all the back and forth between Emily and Reki. He wouldn’t have to play interpreter, a job he knew he was terrible at. He’d just get to sit back and listen, something he enjoyed quite a bit; talking was such a tiring thing.
“When’d you…”
The question wasn’t fully out by the time Emily was looking at him, her eyebrow arched, some sort of invitation for Langa to finish his sentence. She often did that, looking at him in a way that meant “go on, I dare you.” But Langa knew better. He knew she knew the rest of the question without needing him to spell it out for her. She was good at predicting what would come next; or maybe Langa was predictable when it came to his questions.
“I’ve been practicing a bit.”
The girl shrugged as she turned on her heel, turning her attention to Reki. So that was why she was using a lot more words than he remembered her knowing. And sure, they weren’t perfect, far from Reki’s native Japanese, but it was nonetheless impressive to Langa. After all, out of the two, he was by far the more “Japanese” one.
Back in Canada, he was the one that people went to when looking for a “foreign” kid, despite his light hair and blue eyes. He was the one people heard speak Japanese with his parents. He was the one that had weird things in his lunches, which now that he thought about it, weren’t even that weird. He was the one that looked the most Asian when he stood next to Emily, Emily with her big brown eyes and her glistening blond hair. Out of the two, he was the one that had embraced the Asian heritage a lot more. Or maybe, he just grew up in an environment where being Asian didn’t mean being a freak. Or maybe he was just used to being alone while Emily hated it. Who really knew.
None of that really mattered anyway. They weren’t grade-school kids back in North America anymore. They weren’t the strange kids that didn’t look like the others anymore. Well, yes, they still were, but they were older and it didn’t really matter anymore. What mattered right now was that Emily had her arm looped with Reki’s, her shoulder pressed to his as they walked ahead, chatting like old friends. Fragments of Japanese and English words filled the air, both stumbling over the language they still struggled with. Reki still mostly answered in Japanese, his flow simply slowed down quite a bit in hopes of Emily grasping at least a part of the meaning of his words, while she simply repeated English words over and over again until the Japanese equivalent made its way on her tongue. They both made such efforts to understand each other, eyes bright as they went back and forth. Both seemed so happy in each other’s company that now, it was Langa’s turn to feel out of place. It was his turn to stand back, kicking rocks as he followed them like a sad puppy.
“So, any lucky girls in your life?”
If he hadn’t been grasping the words thrown around before, this series of words didn’t fly high over his head. These ones struck a chord within him. These words had been unmissable and unmistakably Emily’s attempt at getting fresh gossip. She was going to badger Reki until someone snapped, though it was unclear in Langa’s mind who would snap first.
“Emily…”
His voice was low and warning, a tone he hadn’t heard out of himself in ages, and yet, it didn’t chill the girl the way it had chilled him. If anything, she looked amused at his tone, grinning over her shoulder as her eyes twinkled. As always, there was that mischief, mischief that scared Langa more than he could ever scare her.
“Cool it, Twig Boy.” Slick English filled the air, her words like a song unlike the clunkiness of her Japanese. “I ain’t tryin’ to steal your man. Just trying to figure him out, y’know?”
She shot him a wink which made his stomach turn. She knew what she was doing to him, no doubt about it. She knew he hated every moment of this. She knew the power she had over him, the power to drive him to insanity. And yet, she didn’t make any sign of stopping. If anything, she did the opposite, turning to Reki with a grin.
The boy glanced awkwardly between the two. Confusion glazed his eyes, a look which normally would have worried Langa but left him with unnatural relief. By his look, there was no way he had understood the English. He was left in the dark. He was left at Emily’s mercy.
“Well?” She leaned into him, her blonde locks nearly mingling with the wild red wisps. “Girls? Pretty ones? Interesting ones?”
Reki’s eyes grew wide before softening again and falling to the ground in front of him, vanishing from Langa’s view.
“Ah, well…”
Langa had seen that movement a thousand times already, but never did he get used to it. His eyes always followed the freckled skin, the calloused fingers as they reached for Reki’s neck, rubbing the spot sheepishly. Who knew what the boy’s face looked like; was he blushing? Was he thinking about some of the pretty girls from around town, from school, from S? Langa would have loved to know what Reki was thinking, who he was thinking of, but Reki’s mind was a forbidden place. No one but Reki was allowed into his thoughts.
“No, not really. I… I don’t know? I mean, I, I haven’t really had time to think about girls? With skating and school and all that? My mom’s not super happy about my grades, so I can’t go ‘round thinking ‘bout girls all the time, y’know?”
A nervous chuckle fell from Reki’s lips as he glanced back at Langa. Big amber eyes shot a shiver down Langa’s spine as a relieved sigh left his lips. No girls. Reki wasn’t thinking about girls, not that Langa wasn’t aware of this. Or rather, Reki had never brought one up to him and Langa, perhaps naively, believed it meant that none had caught his eye.
There only ever had been boards for Reki; it was all he would gush about. It was always “Look at the shape of this one!” or “The colors look freaking awesome when you flip this one!” and never… whatever it was that straight boys said about girls. Girls had never been an issue, and Langa couldn’t have been more thankful. He had no idea what he would have done if Reki had confided in him about a crush on some girl in their class. Or one of the older girls that S. Was Reki maybe into older girls? He talked to a lot of girls their age but never mentioned any, but he rarely talked to the older ones under the harsh midnight lights at S. Maybe he was too shy around them because he found them pretty. Or maybe he—
“What about boys?”
“Emily!”
The name tumbled out of Langa’s mouth quicker than his mind was going. Reki wasn’t into any girls, he had just confirmed that despite Langa’s racing thoughts. Reki was still just Reki, his Reki, his best friend. But such a confirmation didn’t mean that he had any interest in guys! Emily was just being annoyingly nosy, asking inappropriate questions to someone she essentially just met.
“What?”
She had that shit-eating grin on her face again, the one Langa knew too well, the one that more often than not made his cheeks burn bright. There was no blaming the sun for this one; the blush was there, probably a deep crimson, and it was definitely that she-devil’s fault. It was her fault and… and… It was her fault because she couldn’t ask Reki questions like that! They were uncalled for and inappropriate! And Reki absolutely did not need to answer or—
“No? I mean, I don’t know? I…” Reki rubbed his nose with the sleeve of his hoodie, the yellow bright like the sun, the yellow giving his pretty face a glow like the setting sun. “I haven’t thought about it?”
The hesitation in Reki’s voice made Langa’s heart skip a beat. What was it doing there? Reki didn’t have to seem bashful or anything about it; he could have easily just said no and moved on with his life. But it was there, clear as day, clear as the blush that Langa tried desperately to make disappear. Perhaps he had just misunderstood the question. Maybe that hesitation stemmed from him trying to decipher what Emily was trying to say to him rather than a consideration of what she was saying, since he didn’t like boys. It was just obvious: Reki did not like boys, at least not the same way Langa did. Reki liked girls and that was that.
“Do you—”
“How about,” Langa squeezed between the two, pushing Emily away a little forcefully. She stumbled next to him, snapping her mouth shut as her words vanished from existence. She shot him a look that Langa ignored, simply grabbing both Reki and Emily by the wrists and dragging them along. “How about we go grab something to eat? Since I’m supposed to be a tour guide, we might as well—”
“Explore what you know best?”
Emily burst out laughing at Reki’s proud grin. And Langa couldn’t even bring himself to be mad at the boy; he was right after all. All he really knew was where he could fill his stomach. All he really knew were the places where he and Reki fit in best, sunken deep into an old booth, two best friends sharing a carton of fries and occasionally some sickly-sweet drink at the crack of dawn.
 “Let’s just go.”
The words were accompanied by a sigh, but the smile didn’t even try to cover itself. How could Langa try to seem frustrated when Reki was smiling like that? How could he even dare try to seem annoyed when Reki was there? It was impossible to try and act like he would have rather be alone.
And Reki, he didn’t seem like he was less excited at the prospect of getting food with his best friend. Or with Emily. Who knew who Reki was more excited about, not that Langa would try to pull the answer out of the boy. Emily, on the hand, still seemed ready to go fishing for more information, yet another thing Langa wouldn’t allow to happen.
Today just wasn’t the day Langa would try to open the can of worms called sexuality. Today wasn’t the day he’d try to learn if Reki exclusively liked girls or not. Today wasn’t the day he would be finding out if all his terrible attempts at flirting had been in vain or not. No, today was going to be the day where he got himself a burger and just spent a nice day out, not getting his life turned inside out by some nosy cousin he hadn’t seen in forever. Today was not the day he was going to be dealing with yet another emotional crisis.

Breaking The Ice
Chapter Two
Tumblr media
Later that evening when her brother said that he wanted to get a head start on a project he was planning before Langa and Miya arrived, Koyomi figured she could get a little more practice in and made her way to the skatepark that wasn't too far from their house. Living a couple of blocks over from a skatepark certainly came in handy with this family. Reki was even looking to start training their younger sisters already. Nanaka was really excited to be like her older siblings but Chihiro still had some nerves to shake off.
Normally she tagged along here with her brother and sometimes Langa but seeing how neither one of them was here to tell her to be careful when going down the mini ramps that the park provided, she took advantage of that. Pushing her foot along the ground to pick up speed, Koyomi felt her breath catch in her throat as she soared up and jumped from the top of the ramp. It was short-lived and she fell to the ground after stumbling when she landed on her board wrong but that little jump gave her a taste of what it felt like to fly. She knew that it wasn't anything like actual flying but she wanted to soar again and aim higher. Her brother and Langa always got great height and she wanted to be able to reach just as high as them one day.
Hearing some other teens that were also at the skatepark behind her, Koyomi tilted her head back while still on the ground and noticed two boys sitting on top of the bigger ramp with their legs dangling over the side, laughing together. The sight reminded her of her brother and Langa. The two of them were really close just like these guys seemed to be. Was it all because of skating?
Lifting her head back forward, Koyomi sighed as she stood up again. The times that she spent here together with Reki were a lot of fun and she was grateful for all that he has taught her but seeing other people skating with friends their own ages looked like great memories waiting to happen. Her friend in school has watched from the sidelines and cheered her on before but she wasn't interested in skateboarding like Koyomi was so she was left hoping that she would run into someone she could skate with one day.

Blowing some of the dust off the wood that he was sanding down, Reki went to start at the other end when he heard someone sit down beside him. At first, he thought it was Koyomi already back from the skatepark and was about to ask what she wanted when he looked up and blinked seeing Langa sitting there, giving him a small smile.
"Langa? Oh, crap! Is it late already?" Reki questioned while frantically trying to reach for his phone; afraid that he might have lost track of time.
"No, I just thought I would come by a little early," Langa explained, allowing the redhead to relax. "You're making another board? Did something happen to your other one?" When Langa had poked his head into the garage he was about to call out Reki's name but stopped when he saw the look of concentration on the other male's face. There was something about that look followed by the determination to complete a project that Langa admired. Reki was good at what he did and he never failed to amaze him.
"It's for Koyomi," Reki said as he went back to sanding. "I gave her a board just to practice on but now that she's come this far I plan to surprise her with an official board of her own." Her birthday was coming up in a few weeks and he thought that this would be the perfect gift.
"Have you thought about telling your sister about S?" Langa suddenly questioned, causing Reki to stop what he was doing and look up at him. "If she is making great progress as you said, doesn't she deserve to at least know about it even if she doesn't participate?"
Reki let out a sigh as he set the sandpaper on the work table and gripped the board with both hands; looking down at it as he took Langa's question into consideration. It wasn't that he hadn't thought about the possibility of letting Koyomi know where he started sneaking off to during the night but he was holding back from doing so just yet. As fun as S was it could also be very dangerous so that was why he was encouraging her to keep skating every day so that she could be ready for him to bring her along with him one night. Funny how he hasn't brought his sister to Crazy Rock when she's had plenty of experience so far and here when he let Langa tag along the dude duct-taped his feet to the board so he wouldn't fall off. It still baffled him when he thought about how he won against Shadow that way.
"If she ever questions me about it I'm gonna be honest with her but for now I think it's best to let her keep working hard until then. Believe me, I want to be able to tell Koyomi about S and share one of my greatest experiences with her but I'm also her older brother. I can't always protect her but I can at least help make sure that she will be able to handle herself."
Langa simply nodded to show that he understood where Reki was coming from. He had grown up an only child so he never really had that sort of bond with a sibling before but it seemed like common sense to want to keep them safe. He was sure if he was in Reki's position instead he would feel conflicted about the whole situation.
"She's had you teaching her so far" Langa let a smile form on his face as Reki looked up at him once more. "I know from experience how much of a good teacher you can be. You really know your stuff Reki."
The other male felt his cheeks flush at the compliment and he turned his head to the side while lifting his arm to cover up his sheepish expression. "It wasn't a big deal dude. You would have got the hang of it even if I wasn't there to give you pointers. But.. Thanks." Reki spoke while lifting his arm down slightly to show a small smile of his own.
Checking the time again and seeing that they had a little time before Miya showed up, Reki asked Langa to fetch some adhesive he had in his toolbox so he could start applying the grip tape on the top. He wasn't fully sure what the design on the bottom of the deck would be yet but he knew that it would have to include strawberries. He didn't understand his sister's obsession with the red fruit but seeing how it was printed on a lot of her clothing and was even on her favorite bowl to eat out of he figured that it was a pretty safe option.
∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞
Tugging the sleeves of his light blue jacket further down to keep his arms warm from the cool night air, the young teen rolled past a street corner where he did a kickflip before gliding in the direction of a house. He was halfway there when out of nowhere he was knocked off his board by the weight of another person crashing into him. Picking himself up so he was on his knees, he sent a glare in the other person's direction, an auburn-haired girl in pigtails, rubbing her head from the impact. "Were you not watching where you were going, Slime?"
The girl was quick to apologize as she rose to her feet and held her hand out to him, offering to help the boy up.
"Are you alright? I didn't mean to run into you. I was just in a hurry since I was supposed to be home fifteen minutes ago."
Now that she was directly in front of him and was looking at him, Miya was able to see that her eyes were a very familiar honey color that was a lot similar to another red-headed slime that he knew. He recalled Reki mentioning that he had a sister around his age but he wasn't told much else and he certainly didn't think this was how they would meet one day.
"I'm fine." Miya waved off her apology since it wasn't that big a deal and helped himself up, saying that she should pay more attention.
"I have a name you know" Koyomi let out a small huff, not knowing about the whole hero and slime dilemma among skaters yet. "It's Koyomi Kyan!" She proudly introduced herself.
"So you are Reki's sister." Miya kicked the end of his skateboard so it flipped up so he was able to grab it and tuck it under his arm. "I can see the resemblance. Both in appearance and in skateboarding skills."
Koyomi widened her eyes, realizing who was in front of her. How did she not figure it out sooner? What other kid would be skating out this late in the streets? It seemed that he had been heading in the same direction as her as well. "You're that skateboarder my brother bragged about!" Koyomi snapped her fingers and pointed at him. "Miya, right?"
Reki talked about him? Miya couldn't help but wonder what kind of things he said but instead nodded to answer the girl. "I'm guessing he also told you I was coming by tonight?"
It was Koyomi's turn to nod. Her brother didn't have a lot of friends his own age besides Langa. That's what it seemed like since he was the first person to come around since his former friend but he seemed to hang out with other people of different ages that he had met through skateboarding and she began to wonder why he hadn't invited her along since she was having so much fun doing it too. Did he think that she wouldn't be able to keep up with them?
"Come on." She finally spoke, getting back on her board. "Let's get going before they get started without us."
Koyomi took off again in the direction of her house with the dark-haired boy soon passing her, agreeing that they had been wasting enough time by standing out in the street when they both had somewhere to be. When they arrived Koyomi was about to head towards the front door but then she began to hear laughter coming from the garage. Knowing who the voices belonged to she told Miya to follow her as they made their way over, finding Langa telling Reki some story from when he was in Canada that had the redhead placing his hand on the snowboarder's shoulder to steady himself while his other hand was placed on his stomach; his chuckling beginning to die down.
"No way dude, really?" Reki questioned, beginning to go into a new fit of laughter when Langa confirmed it was true.
"Ahem.." Someone cleared their throat from the doorway and both teens looked up to see Koyomi and Miya standing there with their brows raised. "What are you two doing?"
"Miya! Hey!" Reki greeted, getting up to high five the younger boy. "Langa and I were just about to head back inside," Reki explained, having already cleaned up with Langa's help. They got done what they needed to for the time being. He planned to start painting at a later time. "So you two already met?" Reki questioned his sister who explained that she ran into Miya on her way home, leaving out that she literally ran into him.
Following them inside, Miya glanced about the place since this was the first time he had been invited inside. He had seen the outside of Reki's house plenty of times whenever they were able to persuade Shadow to drop them off near their homes when it got too late. It wasn't always easy to convince the man who would rather not have kids sitting in his car to drive them places but threatening to tell his manager who he still had a crush on about his S persona has worked every time so far. Having stepped into the living room, there were your typical seating arrangements placed in front of a TV. Still, there was also evidence that a little one lived here with some playdough that was recently put back in its containers but not properly put back where it belonged since it was still sitting on the coffee table. There was also a pink bunny that was left sitting in the corner of the couch that clearly didn't belong to the older boy.
"You have more siblings?" Miya asked as he picked up the bunny and sat in its place, continuing to hold onto it since he didn't know what else to do with it.
"Three sisters," Reki answered as he went to retrieve a box of movies from under the TV cabinet. "Koyomi will be joining us and the twins usually sit with us till they fall asleep, then my mom puts them to bed." Koyomi retreated to her room momentarily to put her board away and by the sound of running water, Reki guessed that Nanaka and Chihiro were both getting a bath.
Reki placed the box beside Miya and told him to pick out any movie he wanted while Langa and he prepared the snacks in the kitchen. While Miya was trying to decide what he wanted to watch, Koyomi came back out with her hair down having let it loose from its pigtails for the night. While nibbling on the end of a pocky stick, she walked over so she was standing behind the couch and peered over Miya to see him holding one of her favorite movies.
"I really like the storyline in that one." Koyomi smiled. "Have you seen it before?"
Miya shook his head and after a moment of debating, put it down on the coffee table so they could watch it. He wasn't sure what to watch and he didn't necessarily care either. He would think about it more for next time but right now he was just happy to have been invited over. He had scoffed when Reki asked if he wanted to join their movie night and said that he would try and squeeze it in when in reality he was 100% planning on showing up. Besides that trip to the hot springs, the only time he got to see his friends is when they would skate at Crazy Rock. They did message each other at times but it was kind of nice hanging out even if they were older than him.
His train of thought was interrupted by a piece of strawberry pocky coming into his line of sight. "You want some? Koyomi offered. "Reki bought some other snacks including Dango but I don't mind sharing.".
Hearing that there was Dango, Miya declined her pocky, saying that he would wait. Dango was one of the few things that he would make an exception for when balancing his nutrition. After a few more minutes Reki came back out and began to set everything up.
"You guys decide on what to watch?" Reki asked, moving the rest of the box to the side, so everyone else could sit.
"Sure did!" Koyomi hopped onto the other end of the couch, excited to see tonight's movie even though she had seen it a few other times. It was just one of those films that you never get tired of.
As soon as Langa came in and set the drinks down, the twins ran out having finished getting cleaned up with Nanaka wearing yellow footie pajamas with little pandas and Chihiro wearing teal footie pajamas with ladybugs. The two of them chanted Langa's name, prepared to argue over who got to sit in his lap like they usually did. Nanaka was the first to reach the blue-haired male who picked her up while Chihiro stood at a distance, having noticed someone new sitting on the couch holding her Usa-chan. She fiddled with her hands before running to hide behind Langa's leg, peeking out at Miya shyly. Moving Nanaka so that she was sitting on his shoulders, Langa picked up Chihiro and moved to sit next to Miya. Once they got used to him it wouldn't be long before they were fighting over who would get to sit with their new guest.
∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞
The movie turned out to be a good choice
and everyone enjoyed the snacks that were provided. Miya tried Dango in milk after seeing it in one of his games and it quickly became a favorite of his. After being offered her bunny back, Chihiro became a little more comfortable with Miya and moved closer to sit with him; falling asleep halfway through the movie with Nanaka doing the same.
"I do hope my son was a good host." Masae greeted Miya as she came in to scoop up the two youngsters after the credits started rolling.
"Mom, we've been over this! I'm not a monster!" Reki complained, causing Miya to chuckle. He never had any brothers of his own to poke fun at but these slimes gave him an idea of what that might be like.
"It was great having you here with us Miya. It was a lot of fun." Langa smiled, saying that he was more than welcome to come over to his place for their next movie night as he began helping Reki take the bowels and cups back to the kitchen.
"Do you and my brother hang out a lot?" Koyomi turned to the boy beside her, crossing her legs while sitting on the couch. Reki had mentioned him a while back but this was the first time he's come around and she was curious why that was.
"Here and there." Miya shrugged, checking the time on his phone. Since he planned to come here tonight and not much was going on at S, he supposed he would play a game when he got home before going to bed. There were still a few characters he wanted to pull for on Genshin but wasn't sure who he wanted to go for this time.
"We should skate together sometime too."
Miya looked back up when the auburn suggested that but turned his attention elsewhere again.
"I've seen you skate. You wouldn't be able to keep up."
"How do you know? Just because you know a few more tricks than I do doesn't mean I'll trail that far behind. I think it could be fun." Koyomi didn't know if Miya would be that friend she would go skating with or not but if her brother could hang out with him she didn't see why they couldn't give it a try as well.
Miya was about to decline her offer once again when he heard Reki say that the idea couldn't hurt and that the four of them could hit the skatepark together.
"Skating with new friends is always fun, don't you think so Miya?" Langa questioned.
Miya knew that the Canadian was referring to when he started spending more time with him and Reki because of skateboards. They were the first friends he made since his old friends ditched him. He did come back but Reki had broken his promise not to leave him and he didn't know if his sister would be the same way or not. Even if she seemed nice now she could turn out just like the others and he couldn't go through that again. He supposed that going to the same skatepark for one day didn't automatically make them friends so he agreed, knowing that they would just keep trying to persuade him.
"Fine but I get to decide where we'll meet up" Miya replied before pocketing his phone and standing up, saying that he would text them once he decided the location. "I'll see you Slimes later," he told them before heading towards the doorway to grab his board on the way out.
"So that was another one of your friends, huh?" Koyomi asked once Miya was gone, leaning her elbow on the armrest while her chin was propped up with her hand. He was a bit strange and full of himself but he seemed to have a good time while he was here and even Koyomi could tell he was hiding his excitement when Langa invited him over to his house. She wondered if he was as good as her brother claimed to be. She supposed that he wasn't qualified for nationals for nothing but there were a lot of great skaters she had yet to meet and sooner or later she would be skating right alongside them.

paper rings.
Tumblr media
·˚ ༘⌗ chinen miya x gn!reader
·˚ ༘⌗ childhood promises aren't unusual. miya and you had made many to each other, but the most notable one would be the classic promise to marry one another. miya was getting impatient with time, and decided he didn't need to be a grown up to marry you. after all, paper rings will do, right?
·˚ ༘⌗ warnings: fluff, both of you are still in middle school lol 😃, miya being cute and kind of ooc??
gen masterlist.            sk8 masterlist.
Tumblr media
miya grumbled as he sneaked quick glances at you from across him. you were both at school eating lunch underneath a tree for shade, like you always do, and for some reason, he was acting strange and awfully fidgety ever since the morning you went up to greet him.
"alright, what is it, miya?" you asked with a sigh "h-huh?" miya jumped as he nervously sipped on his drink, avoiding eye contact as his fingers fiddled with his switch.
"you're acting so weird" you said as you throw a candy wrapper at him "you've been looking at me strangely all day" you said as you narrowed your eyes at him
miya gulped and shook his head "no way!" he denied "you're getting too confident, you slime!" he said as he stuck his tongue out playfully
you rolled your eyes and laughed at his antics, throwing another piece of wrapper at him as you tuck a strand of hair behind your ear. "whatever" you said
"and don't call me a slime, im your best friend!" you whined with a laugh. miya blushed and jutted his bottom lip out in a sort of pout. "you're still a slime if you keep acting like that.." he muttered
you raise a brow in confusion "acting like what?" you asked. "a-acting so... so.." he stammered out, looking so flustered as he tries to maintain eye contact with you, even though he could practically feel his heart palpitating.
"so what?" you asked again, this time even more confused as his face visibly becomes a brighter shade of red all the way to the tip of his ears.
"so cute!!" miya finally admitted, accidentally raising his voice a little too high, causing a few students to turn their heads.
"aghhh" he groaned out as he ducked his head to avoid their gazes out of embarrassment.
"oh.. is that so?" you cooed out with a laugh as you cover your cheeks which were heating up from the compliment.
"well, you're pretty cute yourself" you teased "even for a slime"
miya looked up and glared at you, despite his quivering lips and shaky voice he still managed to let out a small "im not a slime.."
you smile and pack away your bento, standing up on your feet and pulling him along. "im gonna keep calling you a slime if you won't stop acting weird around me" you said
"anyways, let's go. lunch is about to end" you say as you take his hand in yours and proceed to walk away. miya gulped as he stared longingly at your intertwined hands.
more specifically, your ring finger which seems to be quite bare.
"hey, y/n.." he muttered. "yeah?" you reply
"remember our promise?" he asked ".. yknow, when we were kids?"
you hummed for a moment before replying, "i think so.." you said "i mean.. i remember promising not to tell anyone when you fell into a canal when we were like five-"
"not that!!" miya shrieked with a bit of a pink tint to his cheeks "forget about that whole thing, that's embarrassing!" he whined
"then what?" you asked with a laugh "i can't name every promise we've ever made all in one go, you know?"
miya huffed and abruptly stopped in his tracks, causing you to halt along with him.
"i meant.. when we promised to marry each other." he said in a soft whisper
"miya.." you mumble as you stare at him in surprise. miya simply looked away, avoiding eye contact as his lips quiver into a small frown.
"um. yeah, i remember" you replied with a nervous smile as miya takes your hand in his and locks your fingers together.
"y/n, i think.." miya stammered out "i think i want to get married already."
you blinked in shock and confusion before letting out a sheepish laugh "haha, miya you can't be serious" you said
"we're too young, plus, you're saying that as if you like me or something" you said in a joking manner as you playfully hit his shoulder "but you don't actually like me, right?" you asked with a nervous gulp
miya shook his head and placed your hands over his chest, holding them tenderly as he stares up at you with his eyes glimmering with admiration.
"i like you a lot, y/n" he admitted "i've liked you since we were kids and-" he cut himself off
"actually, i think i love you. so um.. i wanna get married so nobody else can love you but me." miya said with a look of determination on his face as he nervously waits for your response.
"well uh.." you stammer out as you nervously look around "i.. i love you too, miya.." you finally admitted as you send him a bashful glance
miya's eyes widened as his smile turned into a wide grin. "really?" he asked with excitement
"yeah i guess" you muttered bashfully as you try to avoid his entrancing emerald hued eyes.
"that's great! let's get married." miya said as he took your hand and pulled you along as he ran towards the infamous cherry blossom tree in your school.
"miya, slow down!" you whined as he practically dragged you along while you struggled to keep up with him since he was basically sprinting.
"hurry up, you slime!" miya exclaimed with a laugh as he slows down to match your pace
"geez. you know we can get married at like 20 or 25 instead, right?" you said as you let out a breath of air
you were both underneath the cherry blossom tree. the beautiful pink blossoms fall and sway around due to the wind as the both of you lay on the grassy ground.
"we don't even have rings" you laughed as you turned to look at him. "don't worry i already have those" miya said with a cat-like grin
you watched in amusement as he dug into his pocket and pulled out two rings made of paper with small cat and video game stickers and both of your names written on the inside.
"oh gosh you actually have them" you sweat drop "ofcourse! i made these this morning and put a lot of effort so you better accept it" miya playfully scowled
you both sat up as he held out his palm, urging you to place your hand on top of it.
"my vows would be.. uh i'll love you forever and let you play my games. and i won't ever leave you and call you a slime ever again" miya muttered as he slid the ring into your finger, blushing madly as he does so.
"wow, nice vows. very heartfelt." you say sarcastically with a laugh, causing him to grumble and gently hit you with his fist.
"just say your vows, you slime!"
"you just said you wouldn't call me a slime anymore!"
"that only applies after! we're still not together since you still haven't told me your vows, slime!"
you sigh as a fond smile grazed your lips. you stare at miya through your lashes, chuckling to yourself as you see him waiting expectantly with a concerning amount of blush on his cheeks.
"my vows would be.." you muttered "that i would never leave you and i'll be with you and support you in whatever you wanna do." you said
"and-"
"that's enough" miya cut you off by waving his hand at your face, while covering his with the other. "u-um.. im fine with just that, you don't have to say anything else.." he said
you blink in confusion but agree anyways. "okay then" you smiled
miya gulped as he shakily lends you his hand, watching in astonishment as you slid the ring onto his finger.
"there, we're now officially together forever" you said with a laugh as you intertwined your hands together
"yeah." miya mumbled as his lips slowly curled into a loving smile
you gave him a smug grin as you point to your lips "this is the part where you kiss me-"
miya didn't let you finish as he suddenly tackled you into a hug and pressed a soft kiss onto your lips before moving along and pressing his lips onto both of your cheeks and nose.
"thanks for marrying me" miya muttered against your neck as he buries his face against your skin
"anytime" you chuckled. you wrapped your arms around him, causing him to sigh in satisfaction and relax against your body.
"mhhm, love you y/n" he mumbled
"i love you too miya"
Tumblr media
"man, you'll never understand since you're too young" reki said with a smug grin as he patted miya's head to emphasise his point
"love is just too complex for kiddos like you" reki teased
miya simply grumbled and glared up at the redhead, causing reki to laugh even more. "oh yeah?" miya taunted
"well, it's not like you have a lover of your own" he scoffed "you can't flirt for the life of you, and girls wouldn't even waste their time of day to look at you"
reki let out a pained smile as he sulked over miya's harsh words. "ahahaha, those are some big words for a little kid like you" reki squeaked out with a chuckle
"tch.." miya gritted his teeth as he glared up at reki "you have no room to talk when your ethe one who doesn't have a s/o, you slime!" he exclaimed
"eh??" reki mused "why? do you have a s/o?" he taunted "i think not-"
"yes i do." miya cut him off with a smug smirk
"ha?! how?! you're like three?!?" reki exclaimed in surprise, which seemed to catch the others' attention
"ha?! im thirteen idiot!!" miya yelled back with a scowl
"what happened?" kaoru asks with a raised brow as he looks between the two boys. reki seemed to be in shock and suspicion, while miya was sticking his tongue out at the redhead.
"cherry, miya said he has a s/o!!" reki exclaimed "how is that even possible?! he's a child!"
"im a teenager!" miya exclaimed
"really?" kaoru hummed in amusement as his eyes slowly trail over to you, who was too busy munching on burgers with langa to even notice their arguing.
"who is it??" reki asked "its y/n." miya replied with a proud smirk
"Y/N?! IMPOSSIBLE!" reki exclaimed with widened eyes. he ran over to you and hugged you protectively to his chest. "y/n, answer me honestly!" he said
"are you and miya together?!"
you blink in confusion and look at langa for an answer, though he simply shrugged and carried on eating. "um, well yeah." you said
"no way?!!!" reki exclaimed "oi you slime, why does it seem so unbelievable to you anyway, huh?" miya asked him with a raised brow as he pulled you closer to him
"it's just a shock to me!" reki said "i never would've guessed that.." he let out a sigh
kojiro sweat dropped and patted miya and yours' heads. "well, it was pretty obvious they'd end up together" he said
"yeah, we even got married." miya said in a nonchalant tone as he intertwined your hands.
"EH?!" now this time, everyone had let out a scream of their own. they looked between the two of you and blinked in shock.
"impossible. since when?" kaoru asked
"a week ago" you replied with a smile as you raise both of your hands to show them the rings on your fingers.
"but thats just paper-" kaoru slapped langa's mouth with his fan and smiled proudly at the two of you.
"that's wonderful. are those your rings?" he asked with a hum
"yeah. miya made them" you replied "it was really fun. the 'wedding' was a bit unexpected but its fine." you said
"the children are growing up!" kojiro exclaimed as he covered his mouth, while he wipes the stray tears of joy away.
"kaoru! the children are grown!!"
"shut up, you gorrila! you act like they're our kids." kaoru rolled his eyes. he then turned to you and smiled softly once again.
"congratulations" he said
"heh. hows that, you slime?" miya sneered at reki as he flaunts the paper rings with a smug cat-like grin.
"those are just paper anyways! so you're not really married- ow!" reki yelped as he felt kaoru's fan hit his head
"tch. whatever! im gonna get real rings soon!" miya exclaimed.
"no need to rush things, you know?" you mused as you patted miya's head
"yeah.." miya muttered "paper rings will do for now.. right?" he asked.
"right."

finding a random bruise on their s/o
Tumblr media
featuring: reki, langa, joe, cherry, and tadashi
reki
this boy loves tickling you as well as getting into little play fights with you
one time he had you pinned down and was laughing along with you before he spotted a few small bruises littered over the inside of your bicep
he’s immediately concerned over it
“babe, you’ve got a few bruises here. are you okay?”
you remember seeing them in the mirror the day prior while getting ready for bed
which was after you had rugby tackled him to the ground so maybe that was an explanation for them but you’re not really sure
he keeps looking at them, noticing how their shape almost fits fingertips
“are you sure you’re okay, baby? like, no one grabbed you by the arm or anything, right? or did i do something maybe?”
he’s too quick to blame himself so you just grip the collar of his hoodie and promise that you’re okay and that he did nothing wrong
you didn’t even realize they were there until hours after they appeared and they’re so small that you had forgotten about them altogether
however, you love that he expresses his concern when he needs to
“of course because you’re such a cutie and a sweetheart and i love you!”
he hugs you tightly and buries his face into your shoulder while you’re still on the ground
you take this opportunity to wrap your legs around his waist and flip you both over so you’re on top of him now
he blushes as he looks up at you :’)
langa
he’s not extremely observant but he knows when he’s seen something that wasn’t there before
like the bruise that had formed in the middle of your shin that he found while you were sitting next to him in bed with your legs stretched out
“hey, y/n? there’s a bruise here.”
you look down to see him pointing at the discoloration on your skin and you already knew it was there so you just brush it off, saying it doesn’t hurt that much
he thinks about where it could’ve come from while poking at it
he accidentally presses too hard, making you flinch
“sohrry,” he apologizes in his cute canadian accent to which you could never stay mad
you hug him from the side and tell him it’s okay
he realizes that you might’ve gotten it from skateboarding since he and reki had been trying out new tricks while showing you the basics
he tried his best to keep you from falling, even though that’s not entirely avoidable
“maybe a kiss will help it feel better?”
you let him lean down to press a warm kiss to the spot as you run your fingers through his hair
you then tell him that your lips need to feel better too, pulling him closer to you
he catches the hint and gladly obliges, pressing his lips to yours sweetly
joe
you and joe were just, you know, in the middle of making out
until he started sucking on your lower lip which intensified the throbbing sensation in your lip, causing you to pull away
“is everything okay, gorgeous?”
you tell him about how you dropped you phone on your face the day before and now your lip hurts a lot
he examines it himself, holding your chin in his hand gently
“yeah. looks like you’ve got a small bruise there, babe.”
you’re like, ‘what? no way?’ and climb up off of him to go look in the mirror
you find a small dark spot near the inside of your lower lip, confirming his observation
“the real question is, how did you drop your phone on your face?”
you turn back to him, looking unamused as he chuckles
“i was just joking, babe! come back here, please, babe?”
you cannot resist him and he knows exactly how to play that to his advantage. however, you’re just as tempting to him
you walk back over to stand in between his legs from his seat on the couch where he tugs on your hips to straddle his lap
you gasp as he begins to kiss your neck, his hands rubbing over your hips
“want me to kiss it better, hmm, baby?”
your yes came out more like a whimper in reaction to his low, seductive voice
“say please.”
cherry
he’s not into feet nor does he like feet in general but somehow he still notices the small contusion on top of your foot
“where did that come from, darling?”
it’s fun to tease him so you propose that maybe he did it
“i’m afraid that’s the furthest thing from the truth, my love. if you stop making fun of me, maybe i’ll take a look at it.”
he asks you if it hurts and gives you ice anyway when you say it’s not that bad
then you remember that you knocked a shampoo bottle while taking a shower and it landed on your foot
he can be pretty protective over you, especially when you’re clumsy and end up with less than random scratches and bruises on yourself
“now, what are we to do about that?”
it looks like he’s going to have to supervise your showers from now on ;)
he rolls his eyes at your suggestive response but gives you a little kiss as a reward for listening to him and icing your foot
you tease that he loves to take care of you and baby you
he doesn’t know what he’s going to do with you but he loves you nonetheless
tadashi
he is very serious about your physical and mental well-being
so he was not expecting to find a bruise on the back of your arm near your elbow
“what is that, babe? here, let me see.”
he gently lifts your arm to look at the spot of discolored skin and asks if it hurts or itches
he still looks concerned even after you say no and starts listing off things that he could do to make it feel better
he can be a bit of a worry wort but you know that he just wants to be able to provide and be useful to you
you reassure him that you’re going to be fine and that you can’t even see it that well from its position on your body
“well, just let me know if there’s anything i can do.”
he’s such a sweetheart and a very caring partner but sometimes you just want him to relax a little more
you ask if he can kiss it better for you and that’s all
he complies, of course, lifting your arm up again to place a few kisses on the spot
you move closer to him and once he’s done, you wrap the arm he’s holding around his neck and then ask if you can have some kisses
he thinks it’s very cute and gives you a soft grin before leaning in closer
“of course, lovely.”

- his silky pink hair flowed behind him in the wind, his bangs lifting to reveal his golden eyes. those golden orbs are locked on you the entire time he skates closer to you
- the lack of bickering that usually arose between cherry and joe had caught joe's attention
- joe notices cherry's gaze on a particular y/h/c. he almost snorts, almost, but, being a teasing lil bitch kidding, he decides to jab at cherry's side
- "hey, do you see that girl over there? she's cute, isn't she?"
- the bubblegum-colored hair male glares holes into his friends head
- "i'm sure she wouldn't be interested in a muscle-brained gorilla like yourself"
- "bOI, DID YOU JUST-"
- skates off into the distance, further closing the gap between the two of you
- girls and guys start cheering for and fawning over cherry, as well as joe. this catches your attention because you're surprised mostly by the fawning of the people. honestly, you wouldn't say that anyone you've seen there is worthy of so much attention, excluding your two best buds: langa and reki.
- you're actually older than reki and langa by 3 years. you met reki on coincidence.
- you had borrowed your friend's skateboard to cruise around the town. you had felt overwhelmed with all that had been going on in your life, and you wanted to find an escape. your friend, wanting to help you with that mission, offered the board, saying "it's really fun and gets your mind off of things whenever you need." obviously, you took up on the offer because it was a nice spring day: the sun out and the bright colors of nature and the city filling your misty eyes.
- you skated by the skate park and saw a particular redhead practicing ollies and other tricks. you were impressed by the skill he had portrayed, yet you were also envious of how light he seemed, how his eyes twinkled with joy. your gaze must've rested too long on the boy because he approached you soon after.
- reki, later on, introduced you to langa, bringing you to where you were today
- you came to "S," though unwillingly, to support langa in his beef against another fellow skater
- honestly, you detested that your younger friends were participating in illegal activities but never brought it up because you saw how happy they looked whenever they spoke about the beefs
- anYWAYS-
- looking into the distance, you see a masked man in a white yukata, hair flowing behind him, and a green haired, shirtless, buff man skating closer
- "who's that?" you ask your friends
- "oh! that's cherry blossom and joe. they are the founding members of "S." cherry has an ai board, and joe has incredible power," reki pips
- you nod, acknowledging the two men as they stepped off of their skateboards
- “well hello there,” the green haired man winks at you
- “hi,” you flush, eyes wandering between his gaze and his bare chest
- “what’s a pretty little lady like yourself doing with these two kids?”
- “uh-”
- reki tries to jump joe but is held back by langa because we know that reki doesn’t stand a chance against big muscle man
- joe gets all up and comfy with you, flexing his muscles and talking about who knows what
- your attention was mostly on the blue-nette friend of yours. you were still very anxious about this entire thing
- “she’s not even paying attention to you anymore, you idiot,” the masked man speaks
- embarrassed that they noticed your rude behavior, you begin to excessively apologize
- “no, please don’t apologize. i should’ve realized you were worried about your friends,” joe says modestly
- “there’s no need to worry about snow. he’s fully capable of staying safe. we’ve seen him skate many times, and he always comes out in one piece. i’m sure you’ll be impressed as well,” cherry says in his monotonous tone
- “snow?” you tilt your head to the side in confusion
- when i tell you cherry MELTED, i mean that he MELTED
- stomach? churning. heart? fluttering. cheeks? flushing. hotel? trivago
- bRO, why are you SO FUCKING ADORABLE
- “snow is langa,” joe explains when he notices cherry’s flustered silence
- “ohhhhhh-”
- “actually, i’ve just realized. we haven’t properly introduced ourselves. call me joe,” he looks expectantly at his friend
- “you may call me cherry,” the man thanked the lords that he wore a mask because if he wasn’t, you’d see the obvious rose tint on his cheeks
- “i’m y/n! i came here with reki and langa.”
- to say cherry’s heart broke in that moment would be an understatement. his heart was more so shattered and pulverized.
- did i just fall for a minor? FU-
- “but i’m older than them, of course.”
- lemme just pick up the shards of my broken heart and re-piece it back together
- you barely talked to cherry that night his fault for acting so cold, but you were intrigued by the man. i mean he skates on a talking skateboard, how can you not?
- cherry leaves “S” that night, regretting all his life decisions because instead of talking to you, he avoided you
- who knows when’s the next time he’d meet you?
- lmao, SiKe
- you walk into sakurayashiki calligraphy, awkwardly waiting to be interviewed
- his pink hair meets your eyes, the long, silky hair framing the man’s pale face. a pair of glasses rest on the bridge of his nose, enhancing his golden eyes. he is clad in a navy blue yukata
- hm, he looks familia-
- you almost gasp aloud, as you realize who he is
- not wanting to jump to conclusions, you ask, “have we met before?”
- kaoru is freaking out, though he hides it well under his professional mask
- what the heck? she’s the one looking for a job here?
- “yes, we have, but that’s not what we’re here to talk about”
- yiKeS, nice first impression on your, hopefully, new boss, y/n
- throughout the entire interview, you impressed him with the slightest of things
- you were beyond professional and exactly what he looked for in employees
- damn it. why is she so perfect?
- you walk out of the building with the brightest smile on your face, ecstatic with the news that you had been hired
- kaoru follows closely behind you, acting gentlemanly as he leads you out
- “thank you so, so much. i promise i will work my hardest to make your business even stronger and better than before”
- “no, the honor’s all mine. i can tell that you’ll become a valuable asset”
- you’re bowing your head and thanking him to a crazy amount that he starts to worry that you’re getting dizzy
- mustering up all the courage he could, he speaks up, “actually, i don’t really like talking about the skating half of my life...”
- you mutter a genuine apology for bringing it up before
- “it’s alright, but i was wondering if you wanted to go to “S” with me next time. i understand if you decline. i won’t fire you for it,” he tries to add a joke to lighten his tense mood
- you giggle at his nervous and awkward behavior, “good to know i won’t get fired if i say no, but sure! i wouldn’t mind going again. it’s a good opportunity to let me watch over reki and langa—”
- “that-that’s great,” he sighs with relief
- “—and i can get to know you better,” you mutter quietly under your breath
- he flushes, hearing what you said perfectly
- “i wouldn’t mind that either”
- you couldn’t sleep that night, thinking about the soft smile on kaoru’s face, whilst kaoru was busy sleeping, lost in his dreams of you and him together
- the both of you couldn’t wait to get to know each other more

REKI
i don’t think reki would not care at all if you were a foreigner
the first thing on his mind when you first introduce himself to the class is: “they’re...cute” shortly followed by “I wonder if they skate >:3”
he just watches you from afar for the first couple of days, wanting to approach you but bby boy is shy
he even convinces langa that they should eat lunch in the courtyard instead of the roof since the sun is “so harsh”
when in actuality, he knows you eat lunch over there and he just wants to be close to you <3
langa catches on quickly and is sorta like “😑”
“you’re staring so hard, i’m getting uncomfortable for them” langa says flatly, sticking a straw in his milk carton
cue reki whispering at him to shut the fuck up as he glances at you from the opposite end of the courtyard
but it’s been almost two weeks and reki notices that you still seem to have no friends
so he swallows his nerves for your sake, and approaches you at lunch
he hides his hands in his hoodie to conceal how shaky and clammy they are
you’re sitting on a bench, finishing up your lunch and when reki marches up to you
you look up and give him a nervous grin, his stomach goes: 🦋🦋🦋
“hey! i’m kyan reki—actually, reki is fine! but i’m in your class!” reki winces when he hears his voice slightly echo through the courtyard
“yeah! you sit in the back near the window” you nod, matching his enthusiasasm
“yeah!”
“yeah!”
silence
reki had a whole script planned out beforehand but now, all his head is telling him is “)3!;&;!:8:$:8:&$:!@/&373)/$!?!?”
reki is mentally kicking himself trying to think of something until you speak up
“sorry, my japanese is a little—”you wince, making a so-so signal with your hand
reki jumps in immediately because there’s no way in hell he’s gonna let you bash on yourself within 30 seconds of talking to you
“no, no! your japanese is great, trust me!” he reassures you, and you give him a smile that makes his knees go weak
you thank him sweetly before it goes back to being quiet
reki mentally kicks himself to say the next bit
“i-i noticed you sit alone during lunch so i was wondering if you wanted to hang out with me and my friend...” he flinches like he’s afraid of what you might say
you blink up at him and he rushes to explain himself.
“only if you’d like! my friend and i think you’re cool! mostly me, but my friend also! he’s also a foreigner and he just came to okinawa within the past year! he’s cool! he doesn’t talk—”
“i would like that, reki" you smile and reki prays you don’t hear the breath of relief he lets out
you do 🙈 <3
so now, reki has formally adopted two foreigners
y’all are close knit!
you and langa have an unspoken bond about being confused about japanese references/customs
the both of you will silently glance at each other like “😗?”
reki tries to put you on skating almost immediately
reki, coming up to you before school one morning, “so i skate ∠( ᐛ 」∠)_”
you, glancing at the skateboard under his arms and the numerous bandaids on his hands, “oh yeah?”
offers to teach you and almost faints from happiness when you accept
reki watches with heart eyes as you balance on his skateboard, shakily pushing off with one foot
you get the basics down pretty fast and reki is impressed
one time, reki was teaching you at the skatepark, and he was cheering you on when you were able to turn without falter
you grin at him, and as you skate by him, you give him that cute lil peace sign (the one he did to his classmates in ep. 2)
and reki weakly laughs at you back but his brain is doing this
he’s already daydreaming about holding hands with you while you both skateboard...
but he scraps that to the back of his mind because he is convinced there is no way you’d date him
he’s also convinced that you need a friend more than anything right now, considering you just moved to a whole other country
so you’d have to initiate
reki and you are at the skatepark around dusk
you had a particularly hard fall, so reki is patching up your scraped up hands
(reki patches you up even if you barely fall, he’s subtle like that <3)
he’s explaining to you how valentine’s day works in japan in an attempt to distract you from the pain (he saw you tear up earlier, and his heart hasn’t stopped hammering since)
“so only girls give guys a valentine’s gift...?”you say slowly
“yup”
“and guys return gifts a month later?”
“yup, white day” reki answers, as he continues to dab your scrapes
“oh” is all you say, before you cheekily grin at him
“i don’t think you’re the type of guy to just give chocolates. i think you’d actually plan a whole gift out, that you’d make—oh! what about lil skateboard earrings? that would be so cute!”
reki faintly smiles and chuckles as he listens to you
“that does sound cute, but i never really gave a girl a white day gift” he shrugs not looking up from your palms.
when making a noise of confusion, he continues
“i mean, i never received a Valentine’s Day gift...” he mutters, feeling his cheeks blush slightly
your mouth drops, “you mean never-never?”
“there’s only one kind of never, y/n” reki mumbles, slightly embarrassed about your reaction and nervous that you might tease him
“but you’ve had girlfriends, no?”
“um, no...”
you pout, “but you’re so—cute”
both of you FREEZE
like you could hear a record scratch
reki refuses to look up at you because he knows he’s blushing so hard, trying to convince himself that he heard what he just heard
and you’re kinda panicking because, yea you meant what you said! BUT YOU DIDN’T MEAN TO FUCKIN SAY IT OUT LOUD!?&;&(
so you try and play it off by continuing
“— and you’re so vibrant! and energetic! and you’re so kind! you should’ve definitely gotten a valentine’s day gift—some damn chocolates, at least!”
reki’s hands are shaking so bad, and he doesn’t dare look up from bandaging your hands because he doesn’t know what else but to do but kiss you
“actually,” he says, trying to keep the tremor out his voice “I think langa gave me a tangerine last valentine’s day”
something about that seems very langa-like, and you began to laugh with reki following suit
yeah no, but you go to bed that night like “i’m definitely getting this man a valentine’s day gift”
so flash forward to valentine’s day
langa is literally receiving valentine’s as he’s taking off his shoes
he’s like “thanks 🧿—🧿”
reki isn’t bothered, given this is pretty usual for him
he walks into the class to find you sitting on his desk, grinning really hard
reki saunters over and playfully bops the top of your head with his english book
“you’re sitting on my desk” he sticks his tongue out at you
“yeah because i have something for you” you say loftily, and he notices you’re hiding your hands behind your back
“oh?” reki asks, genuinely confused and you have to fight the urge to roll your eyes
you reveal a heart shaped box of chocolates and a handmade bracelet that spelling out his name, with a little skateboard charm
“i’m not a good gift giver but i really wanted to get you something this year!” you watch him carefully as he accepts the gift, staring at it in surprise.
“t-thank you” he stammers, blushing furiously and he slips on the bracelet on, earning a smile from you
reki sits throughout the rest of class shell-shocked
he cannot believe you got him a valentine’s day gift...maybe you didn’t know the implications of what that meant?
he’s so distracted, he keeps dropping things during his shift, he almost steps on sketchy’s tail, he nearly crashes into a pole while riding his skateboard, and he just sits at the skatepark while langa skates circles around him
langa is just like “...why don’t you ask her?”
and reki does just that
he skates to your house immediately after hanging with langa
you get a text message from reki while you’re doing homework saying “hi!! i’m outside your window!!”
frowning, you walk over and pull your curtains back and sure enough reki is standing there, flushed and sweating
“oh, hey reki! i can’t go to S tonight! i got a buttload of homework—”
but reki cuts off with a shake of his head, “no, i wanted to talk to you”
you’re on the first story, so you pull him in while apologizes for coming over so unexpectedly
once he’s in your room, he hesitantly sets his skateboard up against the wall and stand in the middle of your room like—🧍‍♂️
and you’re like “um, you can sit if you want”
and reki, who’s so fucking frazzled, nods while muttering something under his breath and just plops down on the floor
“i meant at my desk chair, reki”
“oh”
but you move to sit down on the floor in front of him
reki crosses his legs and lays his palms on thighs, looking troubled
“um today, when you gave me the gift...for Valentine’s Day...” he literally feels like he’s chewing on rocks, holy f*ck WHY CAN’T HE FORM A COHERENT SENTENCE
you frown, “oh, did you not like it?”
“no, no! i loved it! i love it!” he rushes, raising his hand to show that he’s wearing your bracelet. “i just, um, you know that you generally give valentine’s day to guys you’re interested in. you can give it to your friends, of course but—”
“i know” you say, face straight. “you explained it to me at the skatepark”
“o—oh”
silence
“so when you gave it to me, it was not because you felt obligated to or you felt bad for me—”
“i gave it to you because i like you” you state, staring straight at reki’s face
“...as a friend?”
“no, because i would’ve given langa a gift too” you wait for the realization to dawn on him
but he’s blushing, looking like confused, puppy
“reki, i like you and i think you’re the kindest, cutest boy in our class. i wanna date you—if you wanna date me, of course. i love being your friend too! so i’m happy—”
reki doesn’t know what possess him to do so, but he grabs your face with both of his hands and quickly kisses the space between your eyebrows
you’re momentarily stunned, but you recover quickly
you lean up and kiss him on the mouth
when you pull back, reki has the nerve to look shocked
reki: “you kissed me!”
you: “yeah, you kissed me first!”
reki: “but you kissed me on the lips!”
you: “a kiss is a kiss, beloved!”
reki: “no that’s different!”
you: “did you like it?”
reki: “....yes”
you: “wanna try again?”
you don’t have to ask reki twice
so y’all become a couple uwu
it’s basically the same as how y’all were before,
but now he kisses your “booboos” after patching you up,
and you guys lean over the table while at A&Ws and just grin in each other’s face, playing footsies under the table
and now he gets to hold your hand when you both skate <3
and if you’re feeling homesick, he spends all day researching about your country and will coerce joe into making your country’s cuisine.
throws you a lil *insert your country of origin* night w/ a bunch of your cultural dishes and he even has a lil playlist of popular songs from your country
he doesn’t even get to finish explaining how he put the lil party together before you throw your hands around his neck and just kiss him
langa in a party hat watching y’all make out: 😑
and he DEFINITELY makes you those lil skateboard earrings you were talking about for white day <3 <3 <3
LANGA
I’M CRYIN because as you’re introducing yourself to the class, all the students turn over to langa like—
Tumblr media
like “omg langa! there’s your new bestie! 🙈”
bc y’all are both foreigners...
langa is like “huh?”
imma be real, HE DOESN’T REALLY NOTICE YOU IN THE BEGINNING 😭
reki brings you up because he sees that you’re always alone
he tells langa that they should talk to you
“they can be our friend!” reki tells him excitedly during lunchtime
“mhm” langa hums through his sandwich
“people will call us ‘reki and the foreigners’! it sounds like a cool band!!!” reki grins, properly pleased with himself.
so both reki and langa approach you after school
you recognize them from your class but you never really caught their names, you just know them as “redhead skater boy and his pretty, airhead friend”
reki is all smiles, “i’m reki and this is langa!”
reki points to his taller friend, who stares down at you
“hello”
“oh, uh hi!” you nervously smile, slightly unnerved about how it looks like langa is staring right through you
“he’s a foreigner too!”
“i’m a foreigner as well” langa parrots, still blank faced
and you nod your head, not being able to wipe off the concerned look on your face
and reki is like “dude...🤦”
but you become fast friends with the two of them
they both take turns teaching you how to skateboard, but you receive most of your lessons from reki
reki: i adopted langa
you: ....
reki: and now i have adopted you
you: no
reki: my skateboard children >:3
langa hasn’t warmed up to you completely, or at least it seems that way to you
the both of you bond over being slightly homesick
he talks about canada, snowboarding, the canadian school system—you name it
that’s the most you’ve ever heard him speak
you do notice he does this thing where he’s constantly looking for you
if you’re tagging behind him and reki, he does a full 360 to make sure they didn’t lose you before grabbing you by your shirt sleeve and making you walk in the middle
if y’all are standing in line to order food, he’ll be staring at the menu before he gets this slight cold sweat and he’s turns his head in both directions like “where are they?”
you’re right beside him shhduxhsjwjd
he gets kinda sweaty watching you skateboard and he winces real hard every time you trip or fall
he feels that way with reki to a slight degree but for some reason, it’s magnified with you
will rush over and literally LIFT YOUR LEG to examine your scraped knees, and his eyebrows are furrowed and he has a slight point as he looks over your wounds
then he drops his hand from your leg, or arm, or even your face, and says “you’ll be alright. i’ll take care of it, don’t worry”
he’s just strangely protective over you but you don’t think much of it
you kinda have a crush on him?
you think he’s pretty, like he’s possibly the prettiest person you’ve ever seen but he seems so detached that you never really seriously considered your feelings
one night, you, langa, and reki are skating in a parking structure when a security guard rolled up and y’all had to scram
the three of you split up, but surprise surprise, the security guard ends up following you
and you’re freaking out, almost tripping over self
all you can think is “i cannot believe I just came here not even THREE months ago and now i’m gonna get arrested, holy f*ck holy f*ck, holy f*ck!”
you’re not even sure know where dope sketch is 😭
right as you turn a street corner, you almost scream when you see a tall, lanky ass figure run towards you at full speed
you halt almost, tripping but you’re quick to realize that the figure running at you, waving it’s hand is langa
he grasps your hand and yanks you across the street, at record speed you may add, into an alleyway
you both huddle near the ground, hiding in the shadows to wait for the security guard to pass by
when you’re sure the guard is gone, you feel your body sag with relief
and then you’re acutely aware of how close you are to langa and your body tenses up
he’s squatting in front of you, with his hands placed on your arms like he thinks you might shoot up into the sky
“he’s gone” he murmurs, standing up and pulling you along with him.
“i didn’t know where i was going, if i’m gonna be honest” you admit sheepishly, opting to stare at a trash can further down the alley than at langa
“i know, that’s why i came” langa answers, before tugging on your arm. “i’ll walk you home, come”
yea yea after that, you were feeling a little weak 🥴
he’s starting to get lil more touchy with you too
all three of you are eating lunch while reki is telling you a story about his sisters, when langa reaches over to wipe food off your cheek
and you’re like 😳
and even reki pauses in the middle of his story like “...that’s weird 🤨”
tucks your shirt tag in it’s sticking out
HE’S STARING EXTRA HARD
and he smiles more often at you
pining langa isn’t exactly subtle so I’m sure you’d noticed unless you’re super oblivious
i still feel you’d have to actually initiate, but langa will be quick to follow through in case you start you doubt yourself
you’d probably rush in to kiss him after he wins a beef and then you halt, stopping inches from his face
langa sees that you hesitate and he quickly pecks you on the mouth
“you’re already here, don’t chicken out” he says, smiling slightly
reki in the background thanking god that he doesn’t have to endure whatever weird sexual tension that was going on between y’all
but y’all are a cute ass couple! confused! but cute!
i feel like the both of y’all are completely familiar with japanese customs and such, so if y’all are on dates or hanging out together, the both of you are like “❓❓❓”
and the both of you would get lost easily BSJCJXHSNSKDN especially at night
you’re not super fluent when it comes to reading so you have trouble reading street signs
so you think langa can direct you but he just stares at the street sign before turning to you
“i can barely write my name in japanese”
LANGA WTF?!?
cue the both of you calling reki and crying to come save you at 1:27 AM
doesn’t let you go hungry, he actually shudders at the thought of you skipping a meal
squeezes your knee a lot when the both of you are seated together or wtf, randomly leans in to sniff your hair before pulling back like what he did was completely normal
or he’ll just come up behind you and bury his face into your back
i don’t think langa is one way or another about PDA, but if he wants to hold you, NOTHING IS STOPING THAT LANKY ASS BOY
he’ll kiss you good morning before school and he’ll kiss you goodnight when he drops you off at home, but that’s about it for kissing
he prefers holding your hand, your face, you arm, you shoulder, your knee—literally anything
he’s so funny, and he doesn’t even try. like you’ll laugh at something he says/does and he’ll turn to you like “???”
he’s overall a good, yet strange boyfriend who loves you in his own quiet way

Tumblr media
“Are you ever going to skate again?”
Kojiro grins at you, handing you your food. You were on your break from work and decided to visit your old friend from high school.
“Kojiro you know why I can’t”
“It’s been a year I’m sure everyone wants to see you skating again!” You can’t blame him for his enthusiasm, it had almost been a year after you decided to quit skating due to breaking up with Kaoru. Before you quit you were known in ‘S’ as one of the top contenders, good enough to go against Adam, you had never gone on a beef against him since you had no interest to compete against someone like him.
“C’mon (Y/N)! You know everyone wants to see the infamous RIN again! After your sudden disappearance last year your fans have been missing you, there's even a new guy you can compete against!” You leaned in to cover his mouth, you didn’t want anyone knowing the name you were under while skating in S.
“Fine! I’ll visit but I’m not competing, I just want to see the poor soul that caught Adam’s eye.”
Kojiro smiled, knowing you, you’d probably compete either way, he knew that you’d been missing skating in S after he found you practicing. Your break up with Kaoru had changed their dynamic as you wanted nothing to do with him while he regretted letting you go.
The break up was because Kaoru kept insisting to go against Adam, you knew it was a bad idea, you had tried convincing him many times that the Adam he once knew was gone. Kaoru didn't like it as Adam was very dear to him, he had snapped at you and told you that you didn’t know him and that he’d rather break up with you than listening to your nonsense. You pitied the man, you’d heard what Adam had done to him a few days prior and wanted nothing more than to slap the man for hurting Kaoru.
“You won’t regret it! I’ll see you then RIN”
You hit him again, wanting to keep your professional life and personal life separate, “Say that name again out loud and I’m not going”.
Kojiro watched as you left the restaurant, sakura keychain still in dangling out of your bag like it had been so many years ago.
“You guys really are similar in that aspect”
Once you get home you sigh, your job has been taking a toll on you and you really needed a break. You look into your closet and see your skateboard, the only reason why you quit skating is because it reminded you of him, he was the one to teach you how to skate after all. The same man who decided to leave you to chase after the memory of the friend he once knew.
Making up your mind you change into your outfit and head down the same familiar path leading to the mine.
“Yo (Y/N)! Long time no see”
“You asshole! you call me by my name here and call me by my S name in public! Do you have a death wish?” You get closer to Kojiro to give him a piece of your mind, until you see four guys next to him: two boys who look like they’re in high school, an intimidating guy with clown-looking make-up, and a little boy who you think you’ve seen on TV.
“IS THAT RIN?!?” the redhead boy yelled, it caused everyone to turn to you, you were now the center of attention, mutters about the sudden appearance of one of the most known skaters in S.
“Who’s she?”
Compared to the redhead, the blue haired guy seemed like he was new, you assumed he was the rookie that Kojiro had mentioned earlier in the day.
“She’s a really well-known skater in S! she’s beaten a lot of people here, it’s said that she’s on par with Adam, but they’ve never gone against each other!”
“damn right and never will, I like not having broken bones thank you” you muttered, as everyone calmed down, they introduced themselves and seemed intrigued to see an old face.
“I came to see the new rookie everyone’s been talking about, I’m only here to watch though” everyone’s faces dropped, they seemed disappointed to not be able to see you skate.
“Then why’d you bring your skateboard hm?” Kojiro smirks at you, knowing that you’d come here to skate a little, even if it was just for fun.
“Fine, how about this? SNOW” you pointed at Langa and motioned him to follow you, “you’re coming with me, I wanna see why everyone is talking about you” you take Langa along and decide to skate against him in the course.
“Sorry I’m late, I forgot to charge Carla earlier today so she finished charging a little later than usual” Kaoru stood next to Kojiro to see why everyone seemed more excited. “Right on time Cherry! Look who’s skating today”.
Kaoru looked at the screen, it was you, he hadn’t seen you in a year and you never bothered to answer the messages he had sent you, not that he blamed you for that. You looked just as beautiful as he remembered, if not more, the way your hair flowed freely made you look ethereal, and your face seemed to glow while you were skating, an expression he had missed seeing from you.
He wanted to apologize, after the incident with Adam that landed him in the hospital he realized that his friend was gone, no semblance of him left. While in his hospital bed he remembered the words you had told him before he broke up with you. He knew he had no right to apologize now, but seeing you at S made him realize he missed you and wanted you back, if you’d have him of course.
Langa was surprised, your style of skating was different from anything he’d seen before, it looked complicated but you didn’t seem to be struggling at all. Due to him being distracted he hadn’t realized that you’d already crossed the finish line before him.
“That was good! You knew how to snowboard before learning how to skate right?” You asked excitedly, it had been a while since you’ve had this much freedom while skating. “Yes, how’d you know?”
“I’ve always wanted to learn how to snowboard! Your stance seemed similar to those in videos I’ve seen online!”
As you walk back to the rest of the group you see him. Kaoru’s hair got a bit longer but apart from that nothing seemed too different, he still had that unapproachable aura around him. He seemed to be staring at you but you refused to look at him in the eye, you still missed him after all.
“Long time no see (Y/N)” He tried reaching out to you but you didn’t move at all, “Don’t call me that here.”
“Right, sorry Rin”
It seemed that everyone around you was aware of the tense atmosphere, although nobody really knew of what relationship you and Cherry held.
As everyone headed home, you decided to stay back and skate a little, you didn’t know when the next time you were going to be able to skate again after all. That’s when you notice it, just a little behind you were Joe and Cherry trying to catch up to you. “Rin! I thought you weren’t skating anymore?” You didn’t need to turn to see that there was a smile on his face.
“Don’t you have any fangirls to be with?” You retort, speeding a bit to gain distance from them.
“They all went home, why? You jealous?”
“As if.”
“Cherry over here wants to talk to you.”
In all honesty, you’d forgot he was even there at all, if it weren’t for Carla telling him the angles once in a while, you wouldn’t even have noticed him. You were pondering whether you should listen to what he had to say, “He’s been all gloomy ever since he saw you”. You heard someone fall, assuming it was Kojiro you kept going, he deserved it anyway.
You and Kaoru skated in silence for a bit, the only sounds heard were the wheels of both of your skateboards. As you were the first to pass the finish line you stop, getting off of your skateboard and getting ready to go back home.
“So what’d you want to talk about?”
Kojiro looks surprised, he thought you hadn’t noticed him staring at you. Frankly, he wanted to apologize and ask for a second chance, he knew he was undeserving of it though, you only wanted the best for him, but he pushed you away.
“I wanted to apologize for before, I know you meant well, but I only pushed you away when you tried helping me. I should’ve listened to what you said.”
Although it was a bit short and awkward, you knew he meant it. To be honest, you don’t blame him, he only wanted to know what had happened to his friend after he disappeared and came back with a whole different personality. You would’ve done the same if a friend whom you considered family did the same. You knew that even though he had finally come to terms with the fact that the Adam he knew in high school was gone, he was still hurting. You understood all of this, yet it was still hard to forget how angry he’d gotten at you, how he went on and on about how you didn’t know Adam at all (even though you’d been there when all four of you skated together in high school), and how he couldn’t be with someone who talked ill about his best friend. You remember how he broke up with you through a phone call after being late for a date, how you had to show up in your friend’s front door with all of your stuff, in fear of going to Kojiro’s restaurant because he was probably there.
“You didn’t need to wait a year to apologize to me” He flinched, knowing full-well what you were speaking of. He knew he had messed up the moment he ended the call, but his pride didn’t let him go back to your shared apartment to apologize to you, and he assumed that you were probably packing your bags as he headed to Kojiro’s place to drink.
“I didn’t know what to do after I went back to the apartment with your stuff gone”
“Well, I can’t just stay in my ex-boyfriend’s apartment after he just broke up with me can I?”
There was a silent pause, you were basically ready to head back home, but decided to wait to see if he had more to say. “Alright, if you’re done I’ll be heading home now.”
He quickly grabbed your wrist, stopping you from leaving, “it’s late, let me take you home”.
You declined, Kojiro had already promised you to take you back home. At the mention of his name he looked confused.
“Kojiro left a long time ago though?”
You were surprised, looking around for the tall muscle-headed idiot, but Kaoru was right, he left you behind. You were really going to kill him this time, it was probably part of his plan so you could talk things out with Kaoru.
“If it’s not too much trouble, I’d be grateful if you did then” you offered him a small smile, you had to be nice to the person driving you back to your apartment.
The ride home was silent, all he could hear were Carla’s directions to your apartment. As you got home and thanked him for the ride he stopped you again.
“Can I have another chance?” You stayed silent, he took your silence as a rejection and started his engine to leave, but this time, you were the one to stop him.
“You still owe me a meal at Kojiro’s” He blinked, confused as to what you were saying. Then he remembered, he had made you a promise that every time you beat him in S he’d buy you your favorite dish at Kojiro’s restaurant.
He smiled, frown no longer on his face after the promise of a new beginning, “Of course, tell me when you’re free to get it”.

i'd like to request a drabble about comparing hand sizes with reki 🥺
- definitely NOT bria <33
to definitely not bria: hm anon u look kinda familiar ngl 🤔 s’okay tho, i’ll happily write ur request!
warnings: none! fluffy times with the best boy, once again. reader is gn!
no one but you. (reki x reader)
Tumblr media
“stop it!”
“i’m not doing anything!”
you jutted your bottom lip out at your best friend, reki, who was grinning at you teasingly. “i’m just saying that your hands are kinda small, and there’s nothing wrong with small things!” reki defended proudly. the two of you were sat on a ramp at the skate park. langa had a special dinner to attend with his mom that night, which was why it was just the two of you there today. the sun was setting, dipping slowly to the horizon as a mirage of oranges and deep purples began to unveil itself in front of the two of you.
reki was applying a few bandaids to your fingers from when you had bailed moments before. you could see that reki had scribbled designs on them the closer you looked: a few doodles of gears and miscellaneous drawings of what resembled “s”. you smiled at the rose he had drawn on the bandaid that stuck to your thumb, your smile gentle and warm as you observed his work. this boy held so much creativity in that pretty little head of his and he didn’t even realize it.
reki’s eyes peered over at your expression from the box of bandaids he was holding, watching your delicate features and the way the light made you look angelic at this time of day. his heart thrummed in his chest as you caught him looking. his red hair bobbed as he glanced around for something, anything, to form an excuse as to why he had just been caught staring. though, all you did was laugh. the blush that danced on his cheeks gave him away, his hands opting to reach for yours instead to inspect your fingers to redirect your attention. “did we get all of them?” you asked him, to which he nodded.
“yeah, but your hands are still small though,” he raised a finger to your nose, tapping the tip of it twice before giving you another silly smile. you huffed with a roll of your eyes, no malintent behind your actions. “oh please, they’re not that small. see, look,” you took one of his hands, raising it up and holding your own against his. his hands were calloused, worn from creating his own skateboards over the years. his fingers were a bit longer than yours, and you could see the black nail polish you had previously put on his fingernails starting to chip.
reki’s face was burning, though you didn’t seem to notice. “i told you,” you looked up at him to see amber eyes fixated on you. his goofy smile had lessened into one that was affectionate, tender in the way he took all of you in. small tingles began to shoot down your arm, your own blush rising up your neck. reki didn’t say anything, simply rotating his hand to allow his fingers to slip between yours comfortably. you looked at him in a bit of bewilderment, his entire demeanour catching you off guard.
“i know, hah. this is probably a bad time. but i’ve liked you for awhile, like more than friends, and i understand if you don’t like— i don’t know, like me like that because i mean hah.. there are a lot of better guys out there and uh..” reki’s words trailed off once he felt your warm hand squeeze his fingers. he watched your expression intently. your eyes were always so warm, so inviting to him. it made him feel appreciated, loved beyond belief, even if you two were simply friends. he really wouldn’t trade you for the world.
“i like you too,” you giggled, pulling his headband over his eyes and causing him to let out a squawk of surprise.
“and there’s no one i want more than you, reki.”

Congrats on 2k mama sweet,,,!! :))
Since there is no sk8 requests yet how about option 2 - Kaoru x reader <3 Had this thought after reading ur arranged marriage fic... how about at the start of the marriage reader thinks that Kaoru is cheating on her when he sneaks out at night but after he tells her about S, reader feels kinda silly for thinking so.. next thing you know Kaoru is taking reader to all the beefs as his lucky charm. Reader even has a matching costume and the others start calling her "Lady Cherry" or smth,, teaches reader to skate (she's lowkey jealous of carla >.<) + some domestic fluff (what if reader finds out she's pregnant....) This doesn't have to be connected to the other fic & you can ignore the cheating part if u like... :-*
A/N: :0 Lady Cherry is a super smart name!
other fic here
Please enjoy~🍰

There he went again...
The sliding door of your shared room altered you from your sleep. This was the 6th night in a row that he left without a word in the middle of the night. The first 2 nights you thought he was simply tending to business and was just busy. After the 4th day, you were suspicious and a bit hurt. He did tell you he didn’t want to hurt you and treat you right....so where was he going?
This was another night he had gotten up, so instead of staying in bed you followed him.
“Carla, make sure to lock the doors when I leave“ he said to his AI
“Yes, master“ you scoffed. You had to admit the stupid computer got on your nerves. He practically loved talking to her and every time she answered him, he gets all giddy. You were really jealous but you wish he’d get that way with you.
Just as he was going to leave you called for him
“Kaoru?“ he froze and turned around “It’s late...“ you said coming closer to him. That’s when you noticed what he was wearing, he was in a sleeveless yukata with a black mask over his face, and a...skateboard?
“Y/N I...um...“ being that he can’t speak about S he was contemplating whether to tell you or not. But you were his wife and he wanted to be open with you on everything. However what you said next caught him off guard
“...if there’s someone else please just tell me...“ and the way you looked when you said it just broke his heart. Did you really think he was cheating? Even though this was arranged, he couldn’t ask for someone better to be his wife. You were smart, shy but bright, not to mention beautiful.
“Y/N“ he walked to you and rests his hand on your shoulder “I would never cheat on you and I assure you there is no one else.”
“Then why do you leave at night?“ you ask
“*Sigh*....I go skating.“ he said bluntly. There was nothing to hide from you and it was all true
“...huh“ he lifted his board for you to see
“Some friends and I go skateboarding in a secret location for races and such. We only go at night so we go unnoticed.“ he held up a small pin “It’s called S..now that you know you can’t tell anyone. Now go throw something on, we’re heading out.“
Just as he said you were heading out in the dead of night. And of course you had to ride on Carla, every time he spoke to her it was like he was talking to his crush. As you approach a gate with two guards he gives you a larger sticker of the letter ‘S’. You show them to security and make it inside where people had started screaming. You knew he was popular among women but this was more than you thought
“Lord Cherry!!” one screamed
“Kao-”
“Cherry” he interrupted
“What?”
Getting his bike to a stop he helps you off and says “we don’t use our real names here for security reasons. Here I’m Cherry blossom.”
So what he was telling you was true. You honestly felt a bit silly for jumping to conclusions so quickly. Before he was off to what he called a ‘beef’ he introduced you to JOE. You were surprised to see the popular chef here as well, although you knew they had been friends for years. The large screen in the area showed you just how goof he was at this.
He was fast but graceful, sharp an precise on corners. The crowd only cheered louder than before.
“So, you’re the one he’s been talking about huh?“ Joe asked
“He’s been...talking about me?“ you asked
He nodded “He was gone for like 3 days in a row not to mention he was brushing off more women now. That’s when he told us there was someone he wanted to be loyal to.” okay, now you felt really silly. After the race was done and over with Cherry had made his way back to you. He comes and embarrass you and whispers in your ear
“You brought me good luck.“ you felt your heart skip a beat from the feeling of being close to him
“oooo, look at Lord Cherry with his lady~“
“Shut up you big oaf!!“
<>
During the next few months you had gone with him to almost every beef. You had even gained a name for yourself, ‘Lady Cherry’. You had become quite popular among some men there and even cherry’s female fans. He would usually bring you as his ‘lucky charm’, it was cheesy but sweet at the same time. They also had a habit of saying
“The Cherries have arrived“
On his free time he would actually taught you how to skate, well he tried anyway. Balance wasn’t exactly easy and being from a traditional family, this was unusual for you. You’d be holding on to his shoulders while his hands held your waist
“Don’t let me fall“
“You’re doing just fine dear. Why don’t we try some tricks“ he offered
“Are you sure you’re the man I married?“ you ask with a smirk
“The one and only dear“ he kissed your cheek
It was honestly so cute to him. You’d have a scared but excited look on your face. Your cheeks would turn pink and it just made his heart fluttered. On top of all that you were willing to indulge in something he has loved from a young age. He always took you with him to each beef he attended. Both for showing you off an he is in love with the idea of winning every race for not just himself but for you as well.
Although tonight you wouldn’t make it to the beef. He was going to race Joe but that was put on hold. You had been feeling sick all day and you just finished emptying your stomach. As much as you told him to go, he refused to leave.
“You’re my wife and you’re clearly not okay“ he said helping you up off the floor “you come before any beef or competition. Now come on, let’s get you to the hospital and get you checked out.“
A short drive to the general hospital was taken that night. No, he would not wait until tomorrow morning. He wanted to know that you were okay and didn’t have anything terminal. After speaking with the nurse and giving some blood and urine samples you both patiently waited. You leaned against him playing with the digits of his fingers.
*Knock knock* “Ma’am we have your results” the doctor says holding up a couple of papers and even some medicine. “well, you’re clear for any terminal conditions or diseases. although you have some hormonal imbalances and some new ones kicking in.”
“Meaning?“ Kaoru urged him on
“Congratulations, you’re 4 weeks pregnant.“
“....“ you both sat in shock at the news. You were pregnant? Well, you two were active, and maybe Kaoru has his own little rituals. Either after or before a beef he’d get frisky and was set on pleasing you both. It shouldn’t have been a surprise that this would have happened, still it was shocking news
“These are some prenatal vitamins you’ll need to take for the month. Make sure to make an appointment to check on the baby alright?” giving you the vile of pills he takes his leave leaving you both in silence. What were you supposed to say? How were you going to deal with this? Were you even ready?
“-together.“ you didn’t catch his whole sentence
“I’m sorry what was that?” you ask him
“We’ll this together alright?“ he took your hand in his “believe me I’m as shocked as you are but, we’ll figure this out together okay?“
“Alright“ you smile back
“We should probably start with a bigger house for the three of us“
<>
“Kaoru, come on it’s just paint I can-“
“You are not moving a muscle“ he cut you off “I want you to rest all you can. You’re making a baby and that’s enough.“
To say he was strict during your pregnancy was an understatement. As soon as your belly started showing you were no longer going to beefs with him. You were currently 6 months along, and expecting a girl! Kaoru was over the moon to know it was a girl. he would have been happy with a boy too, but a little copy of you was like a dream. He couldn't wait to see the little girl that would look like you and act like him.
Today was nursery day, which meant painting, building and organizing. Kaoru had you only fold and organizing the clothes and things while he painted. Of course being your idea you had called the boys over to help. Joe was building some stuff along with Shadow. Langa and Reki were actually helping to paint the walls.
“I appreciate you guys coming to help“ you smile
“Hey it’s no problem, at least you told us about it“ Joe commented. Oh yeah, he also wanted to keep it a secret so that
‘the idiot wouldn’t ruin your pregnancy‘ which made you laugh for a good 5 minutes. But they were very good help and made the process easier
“Hey so what are you naming the baby?“ Reki asked
“Well, Kaoru kind of wanted to associate it with his skate name so we agreed on Sakura.“
“AAWWHH“ everyone said out load slightly teasing him. Without turning from the wall he said
“....I just wanted a beautiful name for her was all.“ although he was cold at times they knew he meant well especially for his family.  A while late Joe made a small dinner for you all to enjoy. You thanked them for coming over and you were done for the night. You were putting on some lotion over your rounded middle when Kaoru came behind you. He wrapped his arms around and over your own hands and rested there for a moment
“Who would have thought we’d be here huh?” You whisper
“In all honesty I was hoping for it” he admired “before we married you were described as a caring and sweet woman. But you were so much more once we were married. You’re compassionate, intelligent, stubborn, beautiful, and absolutely perfect” he said kissing the side of your head “and now, you’ve given me the gift of being a father. Thank you”
Turning in his hold you wipe away small tears “oh Kaoru , thank you too. You’ve treated me like I’m the only person you need. On top of that you take care of me but still give me my freedom. I love you..”
“And I love you” he rests his forehead against yours as his fingers trace over your baby bump.

Hi! Could I request some headcanons for Reki and Langa with an s/o who looks intimidating on the outside but is actually really soft? Thank you, Hope you have a great day! ♡
➯ A/N: Hey! Thanks for the request, hope you enjoy!
➯ With an s/o who looks intimidating
➯ Characters: Reki Kyan, Langa Hasegawa x gn reader
➯ Warnings: none:)
Tumblr media
Reki
When he first saw you, he honestly thought you were sad
Sweet boy is usually smiling, so when he saw you just kinda doing your thing looking around Dope Sketch, he thought you were having trouble with something
When he walked up to you, asking if you were alright and if you needed help with anything, he was surprised to see you give him a gentle smile, telling him you were okay and just having a browse
He was shocked to see the quick change in demeanour, watching as you looked back to the shelves. The smile you gave him soon fading, a new pensive expression taking over your face as you looked between the shelves with a slight furrow in your eyebrows
He talked to you throughout your visit, still not entirely sure whether or not you were ok. Everything you said seemed genuine, and yet your expression stayed fairly neutral the whole time, dropping slightly between conversation
The next time you visited, Reki was bounding up to you once more, asking you if there was anything he could help you with. And once again you were giving him a smile, telling him you were looking for some new wheels
He helped you pick them out, holding up different ones for you to choose from. Once again you weren’t all too smiley and enthusiastic on the outside, but he soon grew used to it and realised that you preferred to express your emotions through words than facial expressions
Not that he minded, he actually thought it was really cool. Something about your ability to keep your cool, to not seem so inviting to every stranger that looked your way
It made him want to know more about you
And so the visits continued, and the more you talked, the less intimidating you seemed to Reki. He soon looked past the quiet stares and furrowed brows, and saw your humour, your little smiles when you told him about what had happened that day, everything
And he quickly felt himself falling for you too
When you finally got together, you were like polar opposites when you’d walk on the street. Reki bouncing along beside you, waving his hands around as he told you about something funny Langa said, while you stood beside him with a little smile as you watched his ministrations
It’s very common for Reki to introduce you to new people, telling them to “just give them a little time, you’ll love them”
And they nearly always did:)
Tumblr media
Langa
Honestly, your intimidating expression worked on him. Boy was intimidated all right
If someone didn’t introduce you first, he probably started talking to you because you’d left something behind you, or you’d dropped it while walking
He’d hold it in his hand for a second, before realising you were in fact not a psychic and had kept walking
He’d run to catch up with you, giving you a little pat on your shoulder to alert you
When you gave him a silent look of curiosity, all his words failed him. Not only were you intimidating, but you were cute too
“Uh...you-uh. You dropped this.” He try and give you a smile, kicking himself for looking so nervous. What he didn’t expect though, was your face to light up, your mouth opening as you took it off him, letting out a breath of relief
You turned to thank him, and he felt himself visibly relax. He recognised the item he’d handed back to you(perhaps a character on your purse, ill let you decide), and the two of you began to talk about it
The longer the conversation went on, the quicker he realised that you weren’t intimidating, your expression was simply a bit more neutral. After hanging out with Reki for so long, he’d forgotten that not everyone looks like they’ve been slapped by the Sun itself all he time
He smiled as he watched you talk, the cogs clicking in his brain as he realized you were just like him. He wasn’t always one to show his expressions on his face at first, keeping it fairly neutral unless interacted with
He felt his heart beat at the thought. It comforted him to know he wasn’t the only one who had a misleading face
Somehow, he managed to work up the courage to get your number, and from there your relationship only blossomed
Once you’d finally gotten together, yall were the masters of the resting bitch faces while you’d walk down the streets
Anyone who didn’t know you would think you weren’t all that engaged in whatever conversation you were having, when in reality the pair of you were avidly sharing something you were passionate about as you walked
Even though your emotions sometimes weren’t visible on your face, Langa always knew exactly what you meant. And just like him, so did you
