The author was the one who told Sacheen’s sisters they weren't Native and then cited THEM as the source of the information.

Oh that's WILD?!

My main impression of the article tbh was that it was very scheisty & exploitative for the author to have clearly either done this research & sat on it until Sacheen died, OR made this her weird little research mission immediately after Sacheen's death (and I don't follow her drama, so I didn't know this in advance, but apparently this very much tracks for Jacqueline Keeler + she has a strong bias against Black & Latino Natives). But the main thing lending it any nuance was the fact that her sisters were willing to go on the record & say all these things.

Granted: racial claims aside, it seems like there was a fairly big family disjoint & had been for a while (Sacheen's sisters weren't personally notified of her death, they weren't invited to her funeral, and they claim her fabricated Tragic Indian backstory pulled from their dad's life, not her own, and unfairly maligned their parents), and the fact that they would even lend credence to a blind claim like that suggests there was more going on— like if I died tomorrow and a journalist called my sisters saying my description of our heritage was made up, they'd block that journalist & have the whole family talking evil on them in a heartbeat, yk? That just means these are old women with a complicated family story, but it makes me take pause a little bit, because... that's a strangely specific thing to go along with if your suspecions weren't already leaning that direction.

But I think what's saddest is that at the end, Keeler clearly tries to lead them to condemn Sacheen, and they still don't. (Quote: "When asked if she thought Littlefeather’s life or career would have been better if she had never claimed to be American Indian, Orlandi demurred.") Even when they say, "Yes, this is my take on what happened, yes, this was a lie," both Rosalind & Trudy refused to take that specific bait.

Either way, what happened at the Oscars, regardless of the degree of pageantry behind it, did still occur. And that was always Sacheen's big claim to fame. And either way, it was long overdue for the Academy to acknowledge they owed her an apology. But even accounting for the shady & malicious intentions behind this reporting, this whole thing feels like a glimpse into a very sad situation that may or may not have one or several grains of truth in it, but which was certainly and deliberately crafted to allow for no rebuttal from the dead.

-13 year old boy who lost his older sister to Magica. He’s got quite the stutter.

Minnie = Bev

-The subject of Goofy’s school crush and is known as the town rag doll. Poor girl has been through hell and it only gets worse for her when she’s on puberty’s doorstep. She’s 11 and the youngest member of the party.

Panchito = Eddie

-With his father gone due to the Korean War, his mother (Doña Gonzalez) convinced him that’s he’s sick with asthma among a whole list of other things. Born and raised in the US with his father fighting for citizenship, he struggles with being one of the only Latinos in Leafside. He’s also a trans boy (ftm).

José = Richie

-Certified bad boy and trash mouth, 12-year-old Zé doesn’t know when to shut up. Underneath that squawking beak, he’s very much in love with his best friends Donald and Panchito.

Donald = Stanley

-Hes been trans since he was toddler and his parents have always been supportive. Raised by a German-Jewish father and Scottish convert mother, he is accepted by his own community and is preparing for his bar mitzvah to transition into manhood.

Oswald= Mike

-An outdated black and white toon abandoned by Disney, the 12-year-old Oswald is the outsider since he lives on a farm on the outskirts of Leafside. He delivers meat to the butcher’s every week.

Goofy = Ben

-fat, autistic, and the subject of Pete’s violent bullying. This 12-year-old lover boy wrote a poem for Minnie. His tastes in music are Little Richie, Elvis Presley, and The Ronettes.

Story contains a bloodthirsty witch who disguised herself as an old lady and resides in 1963 Leafside, a little neighborhood full of toons.

I made a compilation with some headcanons that I remembered about the Chaotix there on twitter and I'm gonna bring them here to spread a little more of the word of Chaotix Cariocas to y'all

Chaotix are Latinos, they're from the city of Rio de Janeiro specifically

Vector considers Silver one of his boys (this is technically canon)

Espio is latin blasian

Silver is an albino hedgehog

Espio and Charmy once shared a room but Vector had to get their own room before they killed each other

Espio is autistic, Charmy has ADHD and Silver is autistic with ADHD

Vector likes pagode, Silver likes samba, Espio likes rock and Charmy likes Xuxa

When Silver sleeps he is dead to the world until 10am and literally nothing wakes him up

Espio teaches Libras to Charmy so that when he becomes non-verbal he can still at least communicate with him, it's kinda their thing

Vanilla has a small restaurant in her village and the Chaotix are always there

Vanilla taught Espio and Silver how to knit

Espio can't swim if his life depended on it

Espio and Chamy met first and only later met (were adopted) by Vector

Help me find the Remaining episodes of Pixcodelics + Japanese Dub

Please, read this thread (which i wrote) if you have the time, this is something about an obscure 2000s Brazilean Cartoon Network show called “Pixcodelics”, created by Marco Alemar & Caio Mário Paes de Andrade for that said network, but it also aired in Animania HD in the US, 65 episodes have been produced and aired in said channel but as of 2023, only 16 episodes (+ 6 episodes in portuguese + 1 in latino spanish) have been resurfaced in youtube, but there are still 42 episodes missing from the internet, including a japanese dub that aired in the Jetix block on Toon Disney Japan.

but on to the main question if anyone has more stuff related to the show or 2005 VHS airings of when the show was airing (either Cartoon Network, Jetix Japan or Animania HD) Please, let me know if someone knows about the show and other episodes, Any help is appreciated, thank you🙏🏼

Micky Mouse Vs Speedy Gonzalez Racist realities

Children have often used television shows to learn and develop skills to aid them in future development. Shows like Dora The Explorer, Dragon Tails and many more directly target bilingual children. Producers for years have identified the profit of the representation of these characters. When we look at contrast between Disney’s Mickey Mouse and Warner Bros Speedy Gonzalez we that Mickey represents everything that society sees in white men. He is sophisticated with a clean cut outfit. He holds a position of leader to the other toons in the Disney universe. When speedy Gonzales has more of a mischievous personality. He is often being shot at and has a very inappropriate relationship with woman. Many Latino stereotypes are pointed out in these films. Notions of the Latino Lover is constantly thrown at speedy Gonzalez while Micky mouse is allowed to patriarch his relationship with Minnie Mouse. Ultimately Mickey mouse represented the white heteronormative ideals of families while speedy was forced to operate in a unsaid position of poverty. This just enforces the racist world building that is common for many white American children. Moving into the future, more content like Dora The Explorer and Go, Diego, Go (My personal favorite) will help build better representations on what families outside of the American nuclear construct look like. It is up to parents to identify good content to give to children. A quote from the Routledge reading states “Tangentially, parents or caregivers area substantial target audience whether or not they watch the shows, since they often determine whether or not their children will.” (Routledge, 43)
