We have to share this sad news about the author of Babar,
Laurent De Brunhoff has passed away few days ago at the age of 98. He was a great legend of our childhood and nostalgia. Babar wasn’t just a king, he was the father of an elephant family and his kingdom. Laurent has his creations to make Babar famous by selling millions of copies and premiering an animated series that fits into my heart. We are sad to hear this loss together as we mourn his passing and wish for the rest of his life with us to continue his legacy and his life upon this day. Babar will forever be continued with my future masterpiece and we hope he will be remembered forever.
Rest in Peace, Laurent De Brunhoff. You’re forever beloved and we will miss you always.
Never Forget 😔

‘Babar’ Heir And Author Laurent De Brunhoff Dies At Age 98
‘Babar’ Heir And Author Laurent De Brunhoff Dies At Age 98
“Babar” author Laurent de Brunhoff, who revived his father’s popular picture book series about an elephant-king and presided over its rise to a global, multimedia franchise, has died. He was 98.
De Brunhoff, a Paris native who moved to the U.S. in the 1980s, died Friday at his home in Key West, Florida, after being in hospice care for two weeks, according to his widow, Phyllis Rose.
De Brunhoff was the eldest of three sons born to Jean de Brunhoff and Cecile de Brunhoff, a painter. Babar was created when Cecile de Brunhoff, the namesake for the elephant’s kingdom and Babar’s wife, improvised a story for her kids.
“My mother started to tell us a story to distract us,” de Brunhoff told National Geographic in 2014. “We loved it, and the next day we ran to our father’s study, which was in the corner of the garden, to tell him about it. He was very amused and started to draw. And that was how the story of Babar was born. My mother called him Bebe elephant (French for baby). It was my father who changed the name to Babar. But the first pages of the first book, with the elephant killed by a hunter and the escape to the city, was her story.”

Celestville, Skull Island, Monster Island and especially Tarzan’s Escarpment were the mythical places of my childhood! As I was walking out of the screening last night of Late Night With The Devil, I got a text from my older brother, Michael, that Laurent de Brunhoff had passed he away. He was 98. He carried on the tradition of writing the the Babar books after his father, Jean de Brunhoff, had passed away in 1937. What a wonderful family business! I think I begged my Mom to read this to me all the time after of course Goodnight Moon when I was very young. Several weeks I posted the very first image from the very first book. The night before there was a special on elephants on the National Geographic channel at the gym. I used to watch show like that with Mom on PBS! The elephant has always been a huge influence on me as long as I can remember! The Tarzan films and the Babar books really reinforced this idea. With Laurent de Brunhoff’s passing, an essential part of my childhood has left us, but his contribution to our childhood cannot be overstated! What I owe him and his is beyond evaluation!

Realizing that Babar's author is still alive, age 97, and that despite all the adaptations the series is actually still going, the latest book Babar in Paris being from 2017

I wrote this Babar and the Adventures of Badou fan fiction, it’s called Awkward Discovery. I thought I could share with you guys?
Rating: General Audiences
Summary:
Pompadour and Jake find out that Jake’s friends tried to get Cornelius to go on a blind date with Ms. Strich. Jake doesn’t take it really well at first, but when he tells his friends the truth about Cornelius’ relationship status, they feel far more embarrassed than they already did before the discovery.
It’s going to be a short one… I think less than four chapters, for sure.
It’s been a long while since I wrote a fanfic, so please be nice….
