Positive Emotions in the Workplace Must be Beneficial? Perhaps Not!
Employees felt less drained when they ended the day with more positive emotions. However, changing from negative to positive emotions (referred to as “emotional journeys”) led to increased depletion at the end of the day. This depletion further impacted employee behavior by increasing counterproductive work behaviors (actions that are harmful to others), and decreasing job performance and organizational citizenship behavior (voluntary acts of helping). Employees with higher levels of neuroticism experienced more depletion and more harmful effects as a result of changes in emotional levels.

How To Develop Leadership Skills In Business Schools In India
In the dynamic landscape of today's business world, strong leadership skills have become a paramount asset for individuals aspiring to excel and drive change. Business schools in India have recognized this imperative and are at the forefront of nurturing the next generation of leaders. This article delves into the comprehensive strategies and resources offered by these institutions to develop leadership skills among their students. From innovative curricula and practical training to esteemed faculty and global exposure, we explore the multifaceted approach that Indian business schools employ to shape individuals into visionary leaders. Join us on a journey through the corridors of academia, where leadership potential is cultivated and unleashed in the heart of India's business education.
Tumblr media
Why Are Leadership Skills Important In The Workplace
Leadership skills are essential in the workplace for several compelling reasons. Firstly, effective leaders inspire and motivate their teams, fostering a positive work environment that encourages productivity and innovation. They provide guidance, set clear objectives, and offer support, enabling employees to reach their full potential.
Secondly, strong leaders are instrumental in conflict resolution and decision-making. Their ability to navigate challenges and make informed choices not only ensures smooth operations but also enhances the organization's adaptability in a rapidly changing world.
Moreover, leadership skills promote collaboration, communication, and teamwork, fostering a cohesive workforce. They also contribute to organizational growth, as skilled leaders can envision and execute strategies that drive success. In essence, leadership skills are the linchpin for a thriving, resilient, and prosperous workplace.
How To Improve Leadership Skills
Improving leadership skills is an ongoing journey that requires dedication and self-awareness. Firstly, effective leaders prioritize continuous learning. They read books, attend seminars, and seek mentorship to gain fresh perspectives and refine their abilities.
Secondly, self-awareness is key. Leaders should assess their strengths and weaknesses objectively, embracing feedback and working on areas that need improvement. Developing emotional intelligence enhances interpersonal relationships and empathy, crucial for effective leadership.
Additionally, leadership is about leading by example. Demonstrating integrity, accountability, and a strong work ethic inspires trust and respect from others. Effective communication, active listening, and open dialogue are essential for fostering collaboration and understanding.
Lastly, leaders must empower their teams, encouraging autonomy and nurturing individual growth. By practicing these principles, individuals can continuously enhance their leadership skills and make a positive impact in their roles and organizations.
Do What You Love Doing - "Do What You Love Doing" is a fundamental subpoint under the umbrella of improving leadership skills. When individuals engage in activities they are passionate about, their enthusiasm and commitment naturally shine through. For leaders, this means aligning their roles with their genuine interests and strengths, allowing them to lead with authenticity. Passion not only fuels motivation but also fosters resilience. Leaders who love what they do are more likely to persevere through challenges and setbacks, setting an example for their teams. Furthermore, when leaders are genuinely passionate about their work, it positively influences their decision-making and creativity, enabling them to inspire and guide their teams effectively. In essence, doing what one loves is a cornerstone of becoming a more effective and authentic leader.
Join A Management Development Programme - Joining a Management Development Programme (MDP) is a strategic move for those seeking to enhance their leadership skills. MDPs offer structured training, often facilitated by seasoned professionals, and provide a platform to learn and apply leadership theories and practical strategies. These programs cover a range of crucial aspects such as decision-making, conflict resolution, and team dynamics. Participating in an MDP not only imparts valuable knowledge but also promotes networking opportunities, allowing leaders to connect with peers and mentors in their industry. Additionally, MDPs often incorporate real-world case studies, simulations, and workshops, enabling participants to hone their leadership capabilities through hands-on experiences. Ultimately, joining an MDP can be a transformative step towards becoming a more effective and skilled leader.
Improve Your Professional Camera - Improving your professional camera equipment is a vital investment for photographers and videographers aiming to elevate their craft. Upgrading to a more advanced camera with higher resolution sensors, improved low-light capabilities, and enhanced autofocus systems can significantly enhance the quality of your work. Moreover, investing in high-quality lenses and accessories such as tripods, filters, and lighting equipment can unlock new creative possibilities and versatility in capturing various scenes and subjects. Additionally, staying current with the latest camera technology ensures you can meet the evolving demands of clients and stay competitive in the industry. In sum, improving your professional camera setup is essential for producing stunning visuals and maintaining a leading edge in the field of visual storytelling.
How Can A Business School Can Help With Developing Leadership Skills
A business school plays a pivotal role in nurturing leadership skills among its students. Firstly, it offers specialized courses and programs dedicated to leadership development, covering topics like strategic decision-making, team dynamics, and ethical leadership.
Experienced faculty members provide valuable insights, mentorship, and real-world expertise, guiding students on their leadership journey. Business schools also facilitate networking opportunities, connecting students with industry leaders and alumni who serve as mentors.
Furthermore, leadership workshops, case studies, and extracurricular activities hone practical skills. Exposure to diverse perspectives and global business practices broadens horizons, fostering adaptable and culturally aware leaders.
In summary, a business school serves as a comprehensive ecosystem, equipping future professionals with the knowledge, skills, and experiences necessary to excel as effective leaders in the competitive world of business.
Course Curriculum That Helps You To Boost Leadership Skills
A course curriculum designed to boost leadership skills is a dynamic blend of theory and practice. It typically includes core subjects like leadership theories, organizational behaviour, and strategic management, offering a solid foundation.
To enhance practical leadership abilities, courses often incorporate interactive elements such as case studies, role-playing, and team projects. These simulations allow students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world situations and develop problem-solving skills.
Moreover, leadership courses may delve into emotional intelligence, communication, and conflict resolution techniques, fostering self-awareness and interpersonal effectiveness. Ethical leadership and diversity awareness are also crucial components, ensuring well-rounded leaders who can navigate today's complex business landscape with integrity.
In essence, a well-structured leadership curriculum equips individuals with the multifaceted skills needed to excel in leadership roles.
Explore New Concepts In The Programme.
Exploring new concepts within a leadership development program is instrumental for staying current and adaptable in today's ever-evolving business environment. These programs often introduce emerging leadership theories, innovative management techniques, and cutting-edge industry trends.
By embracing new concepts, participants can broaden their perspectives, challenge conventional thinking, and develop creative solutions to complex problems. This exposure to fresh ideas and approaches encourages leaders to continuously evolve and adapt their leadership styles.
Additionally, exploring new concepts fosters a culture of continuous learning and encourages leaders to embrace change as a positive force for growth and improvement. In essence, it equips them with the tools to lead with innovation and resilience.

The person you see in the picture is Ruben Vardanyan, a 2024 Nobel Peace Prize nominee and an Armenian philanthropist who has established and supported nearly 5 dozen educational, charitable, scientific, and humanitarian initiatives worldwide. Where is he now? In a baku prison, enduring systematic torture and psychological abuse. His crime? Being Armenian.
Since azerbaijan’s 2020 war against Artsakh, Armenian prisoners of war and civilians remain illegally detained in baku and other azerbaijani cities. While baku officially acknowledges 23 captives, human rights groups have evidence of at least 80. (more about it here)
Throughout and after the 44-day war, azerbaijan’s authoritarian regime has committed widespread violations of fundamental human rights. These include the nine-month blockade of Artsakh’s civilian population, acts of ethnic cleansing, and forced displacement—all internationally recognized crimes. Adding to this list of atrocities is the ongoing sham trial in baku, a mockery of justice targeting the political and military leadership of the now-occupied Republic of Artsakh.
Prisoners in baku are subjected to torture and severe psychological abuse. Among them, internationally recognized philanthropist Ruben Vardanyan faces a politically motivated show trial reminiscent of Stalinist purges. Even before his trial, during a phone conversation with his family, Vardanyan described the gross legal and procedural violations he was enduring. The ongoing proceedings in baku, marked by blatant human rights abuses, are devoid of any semblance of justice. Ruben Vardanyan and all other Armenian hostages and prisoners are being subjected to fabricated trials, brutal torture, and psychological torment. These actions are driven by azerbaijan’s desire for revenge, political manipulation, and an attempt to assert dominance at the expense of Armenian dignity and national identity.
Horrific details have emerged regarding Vardanyan’s treatment—reports indicate that a metal clamp was placed around his head (you can clearly see the marks on his skin), causing intense pressure and physical suffering. Medical professionals warn that his current condition poses a direct and immediate threat to his life.
Meanwhile, international organizations such as the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) have been instructed to leave azerbaijan, further exacerbating the crisis and eliminating crucial humanitarian oversight.
What can you do to help justice prevail?
Go to this website, find the address of your country’s embassy in Baku, and WRITE TO YOUR AMBASSADOR.
Simply select your country to receive an email template and contact details—it takes just a minute or two, but your voice can make a difference.

The Princess Royal visits South Africa 🇿🇦
Tumblr media
Tuesday 21st January
Today, The Princess Royal conducted her first day of engagements in South Africa.
Tumblr media
The Princess Royal’s first visit in South Africa was the South African Riding for the Disabled Association (SARDA), which has provided free equine therapy, sport and training to the most vulnerable in society for the last 52 years. Her Royal Highness previously visited the organisation 30 years ago, on 25 November 1994.
Tumblr media
SARDA is the only remaining riding for the disabled training facility of its kind - it has served over 9,500 previously and currently disadvantaged children and their families.
Tumblr media
SARDA scholars have won 6 Gold, 2 Silver and 4 Bronze Medals at the Paralympics.  Her Royal Highness is President of the Riding for the Disabled Association, becoming Patron of the RDA in November 1971, and President in March 1986.
Tumblr media
Later, The Princess Royal toured the British High Commission Residence Garden with Mr Leon Kluge, gold winner at the 2024 Chelsea Flower Show with Cape Floral Kingdom, and Mr Bulelani Bashe, Head Horticulturist at Grootbos Foundation.
Tumblr media
The Foundation works to conserve the environment of the Cape Floral Kingdom and to develop sustainable livelihoods through ecotourism, education, enterprise and sports development.
Tumblr media
Her Royal Highness planted a Princess Anne Rose in the Residence Garden to symbolise the visit.
Wednesday 22nd January
As President of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, The Princess Royal began the day at the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC), where she unveiled the Cape Town Labour Corps Memorial.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The new memorial, which honours the contribution of South African military labourers in the First World War, is part of the CWGC’s commitment to ensuring all those who died in the two World Wars are commemorated equally.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Following this, Her Royal Highness visited the Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation. Here, The Princess Royal heard about the life and work of Archbishop Tutu, his role in supporting healing from discrimination and injustice, and how his legacy is being continued through the current work of the Foundation’s programmes.
Tumblr media
On a tour of the Museum, The Princess Royal met staff members at stations throughout the ‘Truth to Power: Desmond Tutu & The Churches - In the struggle against apartheid’ exhibition. Her Royal Highness finished the tour by meeting young people and staff who are taking forward Archbishop Tutu’s legacy through the Leaders for Humanity programme.
Tumblr media
Later, The Princess visited the Royal Cape Yacht Club, where she learnt about the work of The Royal Cape Sailing Academy, an organisation that empowers young people to development their skills through sailing.
Tumblr media
The Academy teaches young people from some of the most under resourced communities how to sail, thereby developing self-confidence and leadership skills. Her Royal Highness met previous participants from the Cape 2 Rio Race including Jennifer Webb, who was sunk by a whale during the race in 1971.
Tumblr media
The Princess Royal also visited the South African Astronomical Observatory (SAAO), where she toured the observatory and had an in-depth look at the McClean Telescope. The SAAO is the South African national centre for optical and infrared astronomy and is the foremost establishment for optical astronomy across the African continent.
Tumblr media
Her Royal Highness met and heard from those who work within the observatory and learnt a little about the Southern African Large Telescope (SALT), the largest optical telescope in the southern hemisphere, which SAAO owns and bears operational responsibility for.
Tumblr media
Finally, The Princess Royal visited a Thuthuzela Care (TCC). TCCs are intended to be a safe space for survivors of sexual assault, providing one space where individuals can receive counselling, medical and legal support without having to recount their experience to multiple agencies, thereby avoiding secondary traumatisation.
Her Royal Highness met the team delivering support in the centre, which is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

== Love Notes ==
Hey there lovelies! Well getting two out in one day didn't work out, so I will try to make sure I'm catching up with 2 days at time as much as I can over the next few days! I have a very important question to ask you-- and that is, have you laughed today? Did you know laughter can reduce anxiety, and stress, stimulate your lungs, heart and muscles? It's actually pretty damn awesome how much a good old fashioned guffaw can make us feel better. Is there something you know for a fact will make you laugh? (For me it's silly cat videos, or Stede boarding the tiny fisherman's boat in the pilot of the hit series OFMD). Maybe it's stand up comedy-- or puns, or dark humor. Whatever it is that tickles your funny bone, I would request that today you go and just partake in some giggles. They can be small, or big, but do something that makes you laugh <3 Below are some things that have given me some giggles in the past. I hope if nothing else they give you a smile. Sending so many hugs lovelies. I'm thinking of you <3

‘China is not Cuba’s sugar daddy’: ties between communist nations weaken
China publicly supports Cuba’s right to choose its own path to economic development “in line with its national conditions”, but privately Chinese officials have long urged the Cuban leadership to shift from its vertically planned economy to something closer to the Chinese model, according to economists and diplomats briefed on the situation. Chinese officials have been perplexed and frustrated at the Cuban leadership’s unwillingness to decisively implement a market-oriented reform programme despite the glaring dysfunction of the status quo, the people said.

Haiti’s strife and chaos are in large part the result of a profound popular uprising by Haiti’s ever-growing lumpen-proletariat, led by an array of “ghetto” armed groups with different histories, ethics, levels of discipline, ideological outlooks, leadership styles, and survival strategies. But they all now agree (at least in principle) that Haiti’s “system” must change, and they are not willing to surrender the power that they now wield to the corrupt political class and its local bourgeois and foreign masters that once used them as pawns.
The imperialists are determined to crush this autonomous popular power, which could become even more dangerous if it learns, develops, embraces, and articulates more clearly a scientific, revolutionary, and consciously anti-imperialist and socialist outlook and programme in the near future.
In Washington’s eyes, this would be, in effect, the frightening emergence of another Cuba (only 50 miles away to the west) and that revolutionary virus could also “infect” the Dominican Republic, which shares the island of Hispaniola and is home to many Haitian migrants and Dominicans with Haitian parentage or family
