During their cross-country trip, Apollo and Meg had to stop at a Lenscrafter to get Meg a new pair of glasses on short notice because while they were crossing a river in a white water raft, she thought it would be a good idea to stand up, and her glasses fell off and sunk to the bottom.

I love how no one told me I had a severe astigmatism I was just supposed to figure that out myself

#like obviously it was on the prescription but no one explained what any of that meant when I was a child I just grew up #knowing Big Number = Worse Vision #so I only actually put together that I had any sort of astigmatism this past year #which might be why the contacts I had were not fixing my vision perfectly #anyway. lenscrafters I am begging you to send me my trial lenses I need to be able to see shit at my stupid historical job #mine

#'just buy glasses online they're super cheap'#sure jan #look i like the ones i have from diff #but they also should have told me 'no your prescription isn't gonna work for these frames' for my leia ones #because the frame is so big my lenses warp it #which like yeah that happens...always. but either these warp more than usual or they didn't sit the focal point right #do i want to give lenscrafters my money not really #but the optometrist's lab has fucked up my frames and/or lenses three times out of four #and the only solidly reliable fit and frame and lens combo has been at lenscrafters in store #i loved my aya frames but again. should have been told no we can't put your lenses in this fram3 #frame #3 weeks in and i had chipping paint on the rim of the lens #because of the strain on the metal from putting my blind ass lens correction in them #and like the customer service was pretty good. i took a picture and sent it in and was like look is this a common problem #and they were like oh nooo we can warranty that and i was like okay please have someone from optical look at my order #and confirm that this is unlikely to happen again #and the next email i got from optical was like ummm...your lenses are probably causing strain thus we can't warranty..#and i was like okay here is the email i sent to optical prior to purchasing where i sent my prescription info and y'all said oh no problem!#i would at least like a partial refund or store credit or something because i don't want to warranty claim if it won't be honored #and i don't want to warranty claim if it's just gonna happen again in a couple months #and the optical guy sent me back to the other guy and he was like here's a credit for the price of the frame (at the sale price i purchased)#I'm so tired

I'm legally blind and in college, my current glasses are an out of date prescription as well as hanging on with one arm and duct tape. I had to pay close to two hundred dollars for a new pair that's mostly covered by insurance. The person I was working with then acted as a salesperson, talking up certain things, adding on extra charges, and saying that I'd be miserable without an extra thing. If my dad wasn't there, I'd be paying close to three hundred just out of scam costs. Not to mention, they mainly carried designer frames like Coach and Tiffany that were chunky, hard to wear, and blocked a lot of my vision. The frames I went with weren't name brand and were still ninety five dollars. They're nothing special either, just flimsy wire frames that my six year old brother could make better.

fyi things like insulin, hearing aids, wheelchairs, glasses costing money at all is a form of structural ableism
