How come the solution to every single coding problem I have is to just make the code uglier? It doesn't seem fair.

#Like. That stupid fucked-up binary search algorithm I was making in Computer Science the other week? Already ugly as fuck #I assumed it didn't quite work because I'd done it really inefficiently #(nobody told me you could use < and > to compare STRINGS in Python)#(I'm a maths Being. To me you can only compare numbers)#(I did gain this knowledge eventually. It made my code look better but it still DIDN'T WORK)#Anyway turns out I had to add a little +1 to one of my loops and a -1 to one of my other loops #(actually in the original I had like 6 loops but we'll ignore that)#But it looked so bad???????????#Like. Why?#To be fair you can't even tell in the original fucked-up one #It's such a mess anyway #It's basically held together with nested if loops and hope #Oh and that stupid list I made that's just the alphabet

i finally beat shining pearl and the only reasons why was because i transferred a lvl 81 deoxys from oras into it and also because my haunter, north, survived 3 times in a row out of pure love for me

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?????????? and thus was verbal again

i think we should remind musicians they can absolutely make up little stories for their songs btw. it doesn’t have to be about them at all. you can invent a guy and put him in situations to music. time honoured tradition in fact.

watching bridgerton and obviously there were a lot of things wrong with the way socializing has worked in the past, but honestly the idea of a "calling hour" is so appealing. office hours for friendship. you can show up unannounced at my home between 1 and 3pm. you must leave by 3pm. I may give you a pastry. lets bring that back

keep seeing undergrads on social media saying “oh if a prof has a strict no-AI academic integrity policy that’s a red flag for me because that means they don’t know how to design assignments” like sorry girl but that just sounds like you’ve got a case of sour grapes about not being allowed to cheat with the plagiarism machine that doesn’t know how to evaluate sources and kills the environment! I have a strict no-AI policy because if you use AI to write your essays for a writing course it’s literally plagiarism because you didn’t write it and you’re not learning any of the things the course teaches if you just plug a prompt into the plagiarism generator that kills the environment, hope this helps!

#so many people on the internet like ‘why do I have to write my work myself why can’t I just plug it into the cheating machine’#‘why is it plagiarism to not write my own work and instead use the plagiarism machine built from scraping others’ work without consent?’#like. it is because you are not learning anything if you do not actually do the work assigned to you. hope this helps #I personally have not had AI issues because of how I structure my assignments #but it was a HUGE problem in my department last year. so we all have no-AI to write your classwork policies
