I really love the idea of Cheng Xiaoshi being both touch-starved and touch-averse. Canonically, he's ok with being touchy toward others but feels awkward when others touch him. I like to imagine that due to being bullied as a kid (and due to all of the abuse he experiences vicariously when diving), he doesn't expect or know how to handle gentle touch.

So, when he's finally comfortable letting someone he trusts (like Lu Guang) touch him, he just melts when he realizes how starved for affection he actually was.
