Information Technology (IT) Infrastructure is a big topic in IT development. This article will focus on a proposal project to develop IT in AusEd which is an educational organisation in Australia. This organisation has extended to many different locations, therefore IT infrastructure development has an important role to support business activities to achieve the organisation's vision in future and sustainable development via green environment and save energy.
Project Preliminaries Description
AusEd is an online learning university that has provided IT programs. It is easy to see its role as allowing students to “be what they want to be” through these online programs. Students can gain university degree without going to campus. IT discipline-specific skills and generic transferable skills have been assisted by the learning opportunities that have been supported by communities, industries and businesses in partnership. These links will create alternative learning experiences and opportunities to add more benefits into the learning journey of students. AusEd’s aim is to offer a diverse community of career professional that can contribute to social change positively. The organisation prides itself on being a professional provider, creating postgraduate education to many who want to get a fantastic opportunity to experience it. Therefore, this project will support AusEd to analyse some possible problems in IT infrastructure and suggest some crucial solutions that assist them to improve the service quality, efficient system operation and adapt to rapidly changing technology in IT infrastructure.
Purpose and scope of the problem space as well as business context
Before raising the purpose and scope of the problem, there is an analysis to understand the business circumstance in term of information technology infrastructure system development. Business context: AusEd online education has currently focused on three major divisions sales, course delivery, and operations. Firstly, the sales department has managed the sales and marketing operation. Managing agents and code promotion are the mains targets. SugarCRM is an important enterprise application for customer relationship management that has been used to assist these activities from sales department to empower the company to gain and retain customers. Secondly, course delivery division has distributed for the development of course material and running the special study centres and others. Thirdly, the operations division has controlled all the operations encompassing accounting, email and other essential services. MYOB is the essential application that they has implemented to manage accounting activities. For enhancing sustainable development, the organization has conduct a crucial strategic plan including two main parts. The first part is increasing income by diversifying sources of funding such as Australia's AusAid and New Zealand's NZAid. In order to archive this plan, they add more education services to areas with low quality and unstable Internet connections. In addition, AusEd also wants to improve reliability of student assessments. The second thing is minimising cost of none-core activities. For details, AusEd will seriously consider to reduce various supportive activities on operations and technology development. Purpose and scope of the problem In this part, the purpose and scope of the problem will consider after analysing business context. AusEd has a specification feature that all educational activities are online learning so that networking infrastructure is an important role such as website learning, email, external agents and management applications. In addition, the major subject in university is Information Technology so that IT infrastructure must be good enough to ensure all education activities are reliable and stable. After reviewing the current system, educational activities features and AusEd’s development strategies, this project will suggest some beneficial points to enhance the performance, technology and security of the current system in order to achieve minimising cost as much as possible.
Scope of the system descriptions and assumptions
Scope of the system descriptions In general view, AusEd has five main sites in many different places, including two branch offices in Pt. Moresby and Suva and four study centres in Melbourne, Sydney, PNG and Suva that will connect with head office in Darwin through the internet environment as a diagram illustrates below:

When these sites connect through the Internet environment, there will have two popular methods to connect between these sites encompassing centralized and distributed networking. After analysing the current system and also current business circumstance, the project will select the centralization method. This method will bring many beneficial points, particularly, minimising cost of system facilities and reducing employee operation cost in each sites, according to Lann (2017). On the other hand, maintenance cost and updated cost on network equipment for each site decrease, significantly but it still has been operated on high performance and security through the high technology networking devices from datacentre services (Null & Labor 2014). Overall, the selected method can adapt to AusEd business line and the strategies in long-term development and will be described more detail in system design. Assumptions The project will have some assumptions for designing the new system for AusEd. Firstly, the project assumes that just only Darwin has already got a current system such as server, PCs, laptop and basic networking devices such as cables, routers, WIFI modem. The remained sites need to setup new subsystems that are similar the system in head office. Secondly, AusEd’s policies allow the new system to use open source software. Besides, AusEd will hire some different kinds services in the same datacentre in one vendor in Darwin Australia such as, VM (Virtual Machine) domain controller server, VM DNS server, VM files server and VM database server, firewall application, VPN services and Internet service. Secondly, the project assumes that Head-office will have 120 users, branch office 40 users and study centre 100 users.
Appropriate System design by using suitable schematic diagrams
Networking diagram for AusEd’s new system In diagram (H), the system can divide into three main groups, encompassing two groups for external site and one group for internal site. The first group for external site include all kinds of cloud services such as email, website hosting, applications and VoIP and the other one is remote users and mobile users. A group for internal site is head office in Darwin, two branch offices in Suva and Pt. Moresby and four study centres in PNG, Suva, Sydney and Melbourne. However, in PNG, Suva and Pt. Moresby sites the branch offices and study centre will connect to data centre-Cloud Services in Darwin through VPN connection with the network private port as showing in diagram (H). There are some main features that new system can provide as requirements: Allow each internal site can connect to datacentre following private port. Allow external sites as mobile users or remote users can connect to datacentre though VNP through firewall. Allow internal site from different location such as Suva, PNG and Pt. Moresby to connect through VPN with private port. Allow all cloud services such as email, Internet, database from different enterprise to connect through cloud port. Allow server to use open-source software for example: Linux, OpenVPN… Setup security applications such as anti virus such as Norton, KIS… Support VoIP for 3 offices and 4 study centres.

As the requirements, a new system must support for 120 users in each study centre. Therefore, the networking devices will be the same with the head office but it will be different in configuring the system and the connection method. Head office will use LAN connection whereas some study centres in difference location will use VPN connection because of security issues through the Internet environment (Stallings & Case 2013). Some essential functions are required such as: • Photocopying, scanning and printing facilities • Wi-Fi networking to permit learners to connect their devices or laptops to the Internet and University systems • Students can access Moodle website for online learning. • Student can use other resource for studying including desktop PC, online library resources and technology. • Student can use phone to call home over the Internet (VoIP). Some main and important issues consider in new design system a.Datacenter-Cloud services selection According to Warren (2016), there are three mains criteria for selecting data center vendors. -Location: choose a vendor that has a nearest location with the organization, particular head office, in term of management issues. -Capacity: there are two main requirements based on analysis steps include, performance and reliability. Datacenter must have tier III qualification that ensures the system to be available during their backup or maintenance (Null & Labor 2014). In addition, vendor’s service must address to AusEd’s capacity and scale requirements. -Interconnect: this issue relates to AusEd’s interconnect requirements such as cloud speed connection and inter-connect to a lot of other providers to create a bundled service as MYOB, SugarCRM and Moodle. b. Facilities issues Before buying process conducted, selecting suitable facilities is the key point that can cut cost for the budget. For example, all sites are basically similar network infrastructure. However, head office have 120 users that will be implemented special networking devices such as strong router, Wi-Fi router and switch with having enough performance for 120 users and the two branch offices will use normal networking devices for supporting 40 users because of minimising cost strategy. c. Security This project will select some security methods to protect the new system from top information security concerns for this enterprise such as - Data Breach: According to Karena (2014), embarrassing data breaches officially become more popular and known as mega breaches. According to Sean Kopelke as senior director of technology at Symantec, smaller companies are the easier targets that hackers will gain access because of weakness IT infrastructure. -Ransom ware, hacker, mobile threats, attack on point-of-sale system and attack on IoT devices. Therefore, the projects choose using VPN devices and cloud port for external sites, deploying firewall, using private port for internal sites. Besides, this will deploy antivirus software as Norton or KIS for servers. d. Using open source software: OpenVNP for VPN connection, Linux for servers and Moodle for e-learning website in term of reducing cost.
A complete list of equipment, devices necessary for the design
Based on new designed system, this project proposes a complete list of devices and cloud services for deploying a new system. (Appendix-Download)
A cost analysis of the proposed Infrastructure design
There are two complete list of price for devices, software and services, including selected vendors and estimated cost (Appendix-Table1 and Table 2). These lists are selected based on AusEd’s strategies and requirements. This project considers keeping all services of software that AusEd has used because of their stability and saving time and budget. In order to minimising cost, the project does not conduct exchange email server instead of using office 365 services. This pack of services can save more cost if the Office 365 business premium is selected. It includes Ms-Office 2016 full package with 5 licences for PC, tablet and phone, email service and teleconference. In security software, the project suggests to use Kaspersky Endpoint Security because of saving cost and good performance (Egan 2017). The estimated total cost of hardware, services and software for 150 users at once initiate setup is approximate AUD 583,000 (523,000+60,000) (Appendix Table 1 and Table 2). Cost is paid for monthly maintenance services and software is around $80,000.
Sustainable global economy and environmental responsibilities
The project is not only focus on bringing more benefits for the organisation but also consider about sustainable global economy and environmental issues. There are some responsible actions for these issues. Firstly, the project is setup following the Green IT trends. Using IT devices are low electric consumptions in order to save energy for sustainable development. Secondly, the project uses some new technological methods such as virtualization for saving energy and protect environment (Lann 2013). This method can reduce quantity of using physical equipment to save cost, energy and protect environment by less releasing old severs. On the other hand, desktop PCs are setup sleep mode and electrical devices are unplugged when unused. According to Ohio University and Mulquiney (2011), these actions can reduce cut energy consumption by more than 70%. Another actions respond to environmental protections such as hiring green office buildings such as Meinhardt building, using datacentre services that consume electricity creating by solar. For example, using solar power, some datacentres in Australia can cut off 40% in electric bills (SMH 2012).

The ls command lists files on a POSIX system. It's a simple command, often underestimated, not in what it can do (because it really does only one thing), but in how you can optimize your use of it.
Of the 10 most essential terminal commands to know, the humble ls command is in the top three, because ls doesn't just list files, it tells you important information about them. It tells you things like who owns a file or directory, when each file was lost or modified, and even what kind of file it is. And then there's its incidental function of giving you a sense of where you are, what nearby objects are lying around, and what you can do with them.
If your experience with ls is limited to whatever your distribution aliases it to in .bashrc, then you're probably missing out.
GNU or BSD?
Before looking at the hidden powers of ls, you must determine which ls command you're running. The two most popular versions are the GNU version, included in the GNU coreutils package, and the BSD version. If you're running Linux, then you probably have ls installed. If you're running BSD or MacOS, then you have the BSD version. There are differences, for which this article accounts.
You can find out which version is on your computer with the --version option:
$ ls --version
If this returns information about GNU coreutils, then you have the GNU version. If it returns an error, you're probably running the BSD version (run man ls | head to be sure).
You should also investigate what presets your distribution may have in place. Customizations to terminal commands are frequently placed in $HOME/.bashrc or $HOME/.bash_aliases or $HOME/.profile, and they're accomplished by aliasing ls to a more complex ls command. For example:
alias ls='ls --color'
The presets provided by distributions are very helpful, but they do make it difficult to discern what ls does on its own and what its additional options provide. Should you ever want to run ls and not the alias, you can "escape" the command with a backslash:
$ \ls

It's useful information, but all of those files look basically the same without the convenience of icons to quickly convey which is a directory, or a text file, or an image, and so on.
Use the -F (or --classify on GNU) to show indicators after each entry that identify the kind of file it is:
$ ls ~/example bunko         jdk-10.0.2/ chapterize*   otf2ttf.ff* despacer*     overtar.sh* estimate.sh   pandoc@ fop-2.3/      pandoc-2.7.1/ games/        tt*
With this option, items listed in your terminal are classified by file type using this shorthand:
A slash (/) denotes a directory (or "folder").
An asterisk (*) denotes an executable file. This includes a binary file (compiled code) as well as scripts (text files that have executable permission).
An at sign (@) denotes a symbolic link (or "alias").
An equals sign (=) denotes a socket.
On BSD, a percent sign (%) denotes a whiteout (a method of file removal on certain file systems).
On GNU, an angle bracket (>) denotes a door (inter-process communication on Illumos and Solaris).
A vertical bar (|) denotes a FIFO.
A simpler version of this option is -p, which only differentiates a file from a directory.
Long list
Getting a "long list" from ls is so common that many distributions alias ll to ls -l. The long list form provides many important file attributes, such as permissions, the user who owns each file, the group to which the file belongs, the file size in bytes, and the date the file was last changed:

If you don't think in bytes, add the -h flag (or --human in GNU) to translate file sizes to more human-friendly notation:

You can see just a little less information by showing only the owner column with -o or only the group column with -g:

Time and date format
The long list format of ls usually looks like this:

The names of months aren't easy to sort, both computationally or (depending on whether your brain tends to prefer strings or integers) by recognition. You can change the format of the time stamp with the --time-style option plus the name of a format. Available formats are:
full-iso (1970-01-01 21:12:00)
long-iso (1970-01-01 21:12)
iso (01-01 21:12)
locale (uses your locale settings)
posix-STYLE (replace STYLE with a locale definition)
You can also create a custom style using the formal notation of the date command.
Sort by time
Usually, the ls command sorts alphabetically. You can make it sort according to which file was most recently changed (the newest is listed first) with the -t option.
For example:
$ touch foo bar baz $ ls bar  baz  foo $ touch foo $ ls -t foo bar baz
List type
The standard output of ls balances readability with space efficiency, but sometimes you want your file list in a specific arrangement.
For a comma-separated list of files, use -m:
ls -m ~/example bar, baz, foo
To force one file per line, use the -1 option (that's the number one, not a lowercase L):
$ ls -1 ~/bin/ bar baz foo
To sort entries by file extension rather than the filename, use -X (that's a capital X):
$ ls bar.xfc  baz.txt  foo.asc $ ls -X foo.asc  baz.txt  bar.xfc
Hide the clutter
There are a few entries in some ls listings that you may not care about. For instance, the metacharacters . and .. represent "here" and "back one level," respectively. If you're familiar with navigating in a terminal, you probably already know that each directory refers to itself as . and to its parent as .., so you don't need to be constantly reminded of it when you use the -a option to show hidden files.
To show almost all hidden files (the . and .. excluded), use the -A option:
$ ls -a . .. .android .atom .bash_aliases [...] $ ls -A .android .atom .bash_aliases [...]
With many good Unix tools, there's a tradition of saving backup files by appending some special character to the name of the file being saved. For instance, in Vim, backups get saved with the ~ character appended to the name.
These kinds of backup files have saved me from stupid mistakes on several occasions, but after years of enjoying the sense of security they provide, I don't feel the need to have visual evidence that they exist. I trust Linux applications to generate backup files (if they claim to do so), and I'm happy to take it on faith that they exist.
To hide backup files from view, use -B or --ignore-backups to conceal common backup formats (this option is not available in BSD ls):
$ ls bar.xfc  baz.txt  foo.asc~  foo.asc $ ls -B bar.xfc  baz.txt  foo.asc
Of course, the backup file still exists; it's just filtered out so that you don't have to look at it.
GNU Emacs saves backup files (unless otherwise configured) with a hash character (#) at the start and end of the file name (#file#). Other applications may use a different style. It doesn't matter what pattern is used, because you can create your own exclusions with the --hide option:
$ ls bar.xfc  baz.txt  #foo.asc#  foo.asc $ ls --hide="#*#" bar.xfc  baz.txt  foo.asc
List directories with recursion
The contents of directories are not listed with the ls command unless you run ls on that directory specifically:
$ ls -F example/  quux*  xyz.txt $ ls -R quux  xyz.txt ./example: bar.xfc  baz.txt  #foo.asc#  foo.asc
Make it permanent with an alias
The ls command is probably the command used most often during any given shell session. It's your eyes and ears, providing you with context and confirming the results of commands. While it's useful to have lots of options, part of the beauty of ls is its brevity: two characters and the Return key, and you know exactly where you are and what's nearby. If you have to stop to think about (much less type) several different options, it becomes less convenient, so typically even the most useful options are left off.
The solution is to alias your ls command so that when you use it, you get the information you care about the most.
To create an alias for a command in the Bash shell, create a file in your home directory called .bash_aliases (you must include the dot at the beginning). In this file, list the command you want to create an alias for and then the alias you want to create. For example:
alias ls='ls -A -F -B --human --color'
This line causes your Bash shell to interpret the ls command as ls -A -F -B --human --color.
You aren't limited to redefining existing commands. You can create your own aliases:
alias ll='ls -l' alias la='ls -A' alias lh='ls -h'
For aliases to work, your shell must know that the .bash_aliases configuration file exists. Open the .bashrc file in an editor (or create it, if it doesn't exist), and include this block of code:
if [ -e $HOME/.bash_aliases ]; then     source $HOME/.bash_aliases fi
Each time .bashrc is loaded (which is any time a new Bash shell is launched), Bash will load .bash_aliases into your environment. You can close and relaunch your Bash session or just force it to do that now:
$ source ~/.bashrc
If you forget whether you have aliased a command, the which command tells you:
$ which ls alias ls='ls -A -F -B --human --color'         /usr/bin/ls
If you've aliased the ls command to itself with options, you can override your own alias at any time by prefacing ls with a backslash. For instance, in the example alias, backup files are hidden using the -B option, which means there's no way to back up files with the ls command. Override the alias to see the backup files:
$ ls bar  baz  foo $ \ls bar  baz  baz~  foo
Do one thing and do it well
The ls command has a staggering number of options, many of which are niche or highly dependent upon the terminal you use. Take a look at info ls on GNU systems or man ls on GNU or BSD systems for more options.
You might find it strange that a system famous for the premise that each tool "does one thing and does it well" would weigh down its most common command with 50 options. But ls does only one thing: it lists files. And with 50 options to allow you to control how you receive that list, ls does its one job very, very well.

Container orchestration primer: Explaining Docker swarm mode, Kubernetes and Mesosphere
Containers, a lightweight way to virtualize applications, are an important element of any DevOps plan. But how are you going to manage all of those containers? Container orchestration programs—Kubernetes, Mesosphere Marathon, and Docker swarm mode—make it possible to manage containers without tearing your hair out.
Before jumping into those, let's review the basics. Containers are the fastest growing cloud-enabling technology, according to 451 Research, primarily because containers use far fewer system resources than do virtual machines (VMs). After all, a VM runs not merely an operating system, but also a virtual copy of all the hardware that the OS needs to run. In contrast, containers demand just enough operating system and system resources for an application instance to run.
In terms your CFO can understand: That means you can run from four to 10 times as many server instances on the same computer hardware as you can using VMs. The result is that more applications can run on hardware you already have humming in your data center. What’s not to like?
In addition, and this is something sysadmins love, you can easily deploy applications with containers. “Containers give you instant application portability,” says James Bottomley, a leading Linux kernel developer.
While containers have been around since 2000 and FreeBSD jails, no one paid much attention until Docker came along in 2013. Then—bang!—everyone and his CTO wanted to deploy containers. In 2016 the container technologies market generated $762 million in revenue, according to 451 Research.  By 2020, annual container revenue is expected to reach $2.7 billion, for a 40 percent compound annual growth rate.
There’s only two problems: How do you secure all those containers—a subject for another day—and how do you deploy and manage them?
Containers need management
As with any other element of your cloud infrastructure, containers need to be monitored and controlled. Otherwise, you literally have no idea what’s running on your servers.
Containers like Docker can be used with DevOps tools such as Puppet, Chef, and Ansible, but those tools are not optimized for containers. As DataDog, a cloud-monitoring company, points out in its report on real-world Docker adoption, “Containers’ short lifetimes and increased density have significant implications for infrastructure monitoring. They represent an order-of-magnitude increase in the number of things that need to be individually monitored.
Monitoring solutions that are host-centric, rather than role-centric, quickly become unusable.
There are two general types of monitoring tools. There's orchestration, a fancy term that refers to clustering and scheduling containers. Few developers dabble in orchestration. And then there's container management, which handles the administration tasks for containerized applications and application components.
Enter Docker swarm mode, Kubernetes and Mesosphere DC/OS. These open-source tools are not interchangeable, nor do they directly compete with each other. To one degree or another, all of them provide the following features:
 Provisioning: These tools can provision or schedule containers within a container cluster and launch them. Ideally, they spin up containers in the best VM depending on your requirements, such as resources and geographical location. Configuration scripting: Scripting permits you to load your specific application configurations into containers in the same way you might already be using Juju Charms, Puppet Manifests, or Chef recipes. Typically, these are written in YAML or JSON.
Monitoring: The container management tools track and monitor containers’ health and hosts in the cluster. If they do their job,  the monitoring tool spins up a new instance when a container crashes. If a server fails, the tool restarts the containers on another host. The tools also run system health checks and report irregularities with the containers, the VMs they live in and the servers on which they run.
Rolling upgrades and rollback: When you deploy a new version of the container, or the applications running within the containers, the container management tools automatically update them across your container cluster. If something goes wrong, they enable you to roll back to known good configurations.
Service discovery: In old-style applications, you need to spell out explicitly where the software can find each service that’s required to run. Containers use service discovery to find their appropriate resources.
Sound familiar? It should. As analyst Dan Kusnetzky points out, containers work a lot like the service-oriented architecture (SOA) that got so much attention during the 2000s. SOA, for those of you who missed that technology, broke up applications into individual, stand-alone services. Its technical barrier: Network communications were an order of magnitude slower than inter-process communications. Containers run far faster than SOA because they tend to use resources on the same server. These tools help front-end applications, say a WordPress instance, dynamically discover its corresponding MySQL instance via DNS or a proxy.
Container policy management: Where do you want containers to launch? How many should be assigned per CPU? All these questions and more can be answered by setting up the correct container policies.
Interoperability: And, of course, containers should work with your existing IT management tools. Finally, all three of these container management tools work with a variety of cloud platforms, including OpenStack Magnum and Azure Container Services.
You could try to build your own container management program, but why re-invent the wheel? Besides, all three are built on open-source foundations; you can always add any feature you need. There is no value in starting from scratch.
So much for the generalities. Let’s get to the specifics.
Docker swarm mode
If you’re new to containers, you probably started with Docker, which was the first container program to attract a large user base. Your natural instinct is to turn to a container manager built by the same people who designed your container infrastructure, which means Docker Swarm.
As of Docker 1.12, Docker’s go-forward model is for orchestration to be built-in, which it calls swarm mode. Docker Swarm, Docker's standalone orchestrator, has taken a backseat to this built-in functionality. Swarm mode gives users control over the full application lifecycle, not just container clustering and scheduling.
The difference between Docker Swarm and swarm mode? With Docker 1.12, swarm mode is part of the Docker Engine. Scaling, container discovery, and security are all included with minimal setup. Docker Swarm is an older standalone product, which used to be used to cluster multiple Docker hosts. Swarm mode is Docker's built-in cluster manager.
Swarm mode uses single-node Docker concepts and extends them to Swarm.For example, to run a Docker cluster, you use the command run docker swarm init to switch to swarm mode. To add more nodes, run docker swarm join.
In addition, Docker 1.12 and above and swarm mode include support for rolling updates, Transport Layer Security encryption between nodes, load balancing, and easy service abstraction.
In short, Docker swarm mode spreads a container load across multiple hosts, and it permits you to set up a swarm (that is, a cluster), on multiple host platforms. It also requires you to set up a few things on the host platform, including integration (so containers running on different nodes can communicate with each other) and segregation (to isolate and secure different container workloads). You'll need to work with virtual networks to address those needs.
Kubernetes
Kubernetes is an open-source container manager that was originally developed at Google. Since Kubernetes rolled out, it’s been ported to Azure, DC/OS, and pretty much every cloud platform you can name. The one exception is Amazon Web Services (AWS), although CoreOS enables users to deploy a Kubernetes cluster on AWS.
Today, Kubernetes is hosted by the Linux Foundation‘s Cloud Native Computing Foundation. In addition, there are Kubernetes distributions from numerous companies, including Red Hat OpenShift, the Canonical Distribution of Kubernetes, CoreOS Tectonic, and Intel and Mirantis.
Kubernetes offers a high degree of interoperability, as well as self-healing, automated rollouts and rollbacks, and storage orchestration. However, load balancing is hard using Kubernetes. Eventually, Kubernetes ingress will make it easy to run an external load balancer from inside Kubernetes, but that’s still a work in progress.
Kubernetes excels at automatically fixing problems. But it’s so good at it that containers can crash and be restarted so fast you don’t notice your containers are crashing. To address this, you need to add a centralized logging system.
Mesosphere Marathon
Marathon is a container orchestration platform for Mesosphere’s DC/OS and Apache Mesos. DC/OS is a distributed operating system based on the Mesos distributed systems kernel. Mesos, in turn, is an open source cluster management system. Marathon (via its partner program, Chronos, a fault-tolerant job scheduler) provides management integration between your existing stateful applications and container-based stateless applications.
While Marathon has a user interface that makes you think of it as an application, it may be easier to view it as a framework for managing containers. That touches on the developer side of DevOps, because containers work with Marathon through a REST API.
Marathon boasts many features, including high availability, service discovery, and load balancing. If you run it on DC/OS, your applications also get virtual IP routing.
However, Marathon can run only on a software stack with Mesos. In addition, certain features (such as authentication) are only available with Marathon on top of DC/OS. This adds one more abstraction layer to your stack.
Which one is right for you?
Ultimately, it depends on your needs. Mesos and Kubernetes are largely about running clustered applications. Mesos focuses on generic scheduling and plugging in multiple different schedulers. Google originally designed Kubernetes as an environment for building distributed applications from containers.
Docker swarm mode extends the existing Docker API to make a cluster of machines easier to use with a single Docker API. If your company has Docker professionals on staff, you’re probably already running swarm mode. If it’s working well for you, why bother to switch to another system? Marathon has the unique advantage of giving you one way (albeit a multi-tiered way) to handle both your containers and your older applications.
Fortunately, you can mix and match these programs to create the unique blend your company needs. All three can work well with each other. It’s not easy, but it is doable—and perhaps it’s a good way to explore the options.
Container Management: Lessons for leaders
To make the most of containers, you need a good container management program. The three primary applications are Kubernetes, Mesosphere, and Docker Swarm. While their features vary, all support container provisioning, monitoring, and management.
In addition to container management, Mesosphere has features that help manage data centers.
Docker Swarm mode aims to simplify Docker clustering by offering control over container scheduling. For instance, it constrains on which nodes a container can start, works with the Docker Remote API, and enables you to decide on which nodes in a cluster new containers should be scheduled.

While AWS is undoubtedly the benchmark of cloud service quality, it has some drawbacks. Today we compare Amazon Web Services (AWS) with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
AWS definitely is the leader of the cloud computing services, due to being the pioneer in the IaaS industry since 2006 and being 5 years ahead of other popular cloud service providers. However, this leads to certain inconveniences and drawbacks that can be exploited by the competition. Essentially, the sheer amount of AWS services is overwhelming.
While Google Cloud Platform does not boast such an ample list of services, it rapidly adds new products to the table. The important thing to note is that while AWS does offer a plethora of services, many of them are niche-oriented and only a few are essential for any project. And for these core features, we think Google cloud is a worthy competitor, even a hands-down winner sometimes, though many of essential features, like PostgreSQL support are still in beta in GCP.
Google Cloud can compete with AWS in the following areas:
• Cost-efficiency due to long-term discounts
• Big Data and Machine Learning products
• Instance and payment configuration
• Privacy and traffic security
Cost-efficiency due to long-term discounts
Customer loyalty policies are essential as they help the customers get the most of each dollar, thus improving commitment. However, there is an important difference here: AWS provides discounts only after signing for a 1-year term and paying in advance, without the right to change the plan. This, obviously, is not the perfect choice, as many businesses adjust their requirements dynamically, not to mention paying for a year in advance is quite a significant spending.
GCP provides the same flexibility, namely the sustained-use discounts, after merely a month of usage, and the discount can be applied to any other package, should the need for configuration adjustment arise. This makes long-term discount policy from GCP a viable and feasible alternative to what AWS offers, and rather an investment, not an item of expenditure. Besides, you avoid vendor lock-in and are free to change the provider if need be, without losing all the money paid in advance.

AWS is definitely the leader for building Big Data systems, due to in-depth integration with many popular DevOps tools like Docker and Kubernetes, as well as providing a great solution for server less computing, AWS Lambda, which is a perfect match for short-time Big Data analysis tasks.

This breach has lead to Google opting for full-scale encryption of all their data and communication channels. Even the stored data is encrypted, not to mention the traffic between data centers.
AWS is still lagging in this regard. Their Relational Database Service (RDS) does provide data encryption as an option, yet it is not enabled by default and requires intense configurations if multiple availability zones are involved in the equation. The inter-data center traffic is also not encrypted by AWS as of now, which poses yet another potential security threat.

PEOPLE PROFESSIONAL OF TOMORROW
CHALLENGES, DEMANDS AND REQUIREMENTS
Part 2: Re-inventing the People Professional for the future  
Part 1 of my article set out to paint in bold strokes a broad picture of the probable future - a high level scenario, so to speak - as it is rushing onto People Professionals. Future trends regarding four domains were covered: Context, Organisation, Workers, and Leadership. 
One can only but conclude from the picture painted in Part 1 that the future world of work indeed is going do look significantly differently. Consequently, who and what the People Profession is, and need to become, has to be questioned incisively.
Given the picture of the future world of work painted in Part 1, I would like to address in Part 2 of my article globalisation, digitized virtualisation, interconnectivity, automation, smart, and sustainability as critical, specific interdependent features of the tomorrow’s world of work. 
In lieu of these features, I shall make some re-invention proposals for the future People Professional. I shall conclude with an overarching, future-fitness requirement for the future People Professional to mould a distinct, well crystalised, authentic Core Identity.
FEATURE 1: GLOBALISATION
Increasingly the world is becoming - and will be even more so in future - a global village. Many, if not most boundaries restricting the movement of information, knowledge, people, stakeholders, products/ services and resources (e.g., raw materials, finance, technology) across the world are disappearing/ will disappear - or at least, are becoming more permeable - though at varying paces across the world over time.
I believe this trend will continue unabatedly, even though there is presently worldwide a counter trend to globalisation. Currently, there is a rise across the world in nationalism and populism: a growing internal focus of ‘Put the interests of our country first’; inter-nation tensions; and global security fears/ threats. 
These trends may slow down, and in some cases even counter globalisation. However, current and future organisations still will, or will want to, operate globally through a physical and/ or virtual presence and reach.
Globalisation imposes the imperative of a global mind set on the People Professional of tomorrow.  She will have to see herself as a global citizen. This mind set will necessitate of the People Professional:
firstly, to see the whole world in an integrated, organic way as her total action domain. Physical location becomes irrelevant. Reach becomes the key. On the one hand, this mind set will embrace insourcing ideas, thinking, products/ services, and partnering from wherever and whenever. On the other hand, seeing the whole world as a potential taker of the expertise, knowledge and products/ services the People Professional has to offer.  
Secondly - and paradoxically - however, she will have to embed into her global mind set the crucial, mediating factor of localisation because of cross-cultural and inter-cultural differences as she moves across the multi-cultural ‘suburbs’ of the global village.  He will be faced with the challenge to think globally, but act locally in consideration of local conditions and value system diversity. She will need high levels of contextual/ cultural intelligence, alongside her other intelligences.
FEATURE 2: DIGITISED VIRTUALISATION  
An exponentially growing rate is occurring in the  migration of interactions, products/ services and events from the physical to virtual reality (i.e., cyberspace), enabled by digitisation. Digitisation refers to making everything/ anything/  anyone computer readable, manipulable, and processable.
Virtual reality is replacing, and in some instances ‘exterminating’ physical reality. E.g. work places, social interaction, online shopping, newspapers, travel booking reservations, google maps, and entertainment are going virtual. The creation and maintenance of digital literacy, alongside a virtual presence and brand in cyberspace, have become essential in tomorrow’s world. 
The virtual reality furthermore is populated at a snowballing rate by a bewildering, overwhelming array of applications, ‘apps’, enabling all sorts of abilities, activities and interaction.  People are living “App-ily ever after” (Simon Lewis) in cyber-spacetime because ‘appli-fied,’ self-help has become the name of the game.
A case in point. Digital human implants are seen as the next evolutionary stage of virtualisation. In this instance digitised virtualisation now takes on a human bodily presence. For example, digital tracking devices implanted in children; implanted house keys to open/ lock one’s home; implanted business card, communicated by putting one’s hand against another person’s smart phone; implanted banking ID and PIN information to gain access to one’s bank accounts; and implanted emotional tracking, feedback and control devices. Of course, bio-hacking to ‘steal’ and clone implanted personal information now also becomes a real threat.
Digitised virtualisation will have an unlimited, unimaginable potential impact across all the action domains and roles of the People Professional of tomorrow. To all of them, the ‘e’ (i.e., ‘online’) prefix can be added. From regarding the virtual reality  as an acceptable reality to research alongside the physical reality; through e-research about social networking and media as a research topic dealing with the virtual reality in which people increasingly live and work; e-research enabled collaboration; e-research tools; e-learning and -teaching; e-assessment (e. g., 3D virtual, gamified assessment centers); e-coaching, e-development; to e-wellbeing. 
Tomorrow’s People Professional will need to be an e-professional - digitally and virtually - able to conceive, construct, implement and support e-professional services, of the likes of self-help (read ‘Do It-Yourself’) apps. The apps will need to be anchored in the first place in ‘deep thinking’: re-created mind set/ paradigm congruent with the globalised, digitised virtual world of tomorrow as sketched above. 
Many of these apps will be be open sourced, and virtually crowdsourced. And, hence be maintained, improved and extended by a virtual community of practice, analogous to Linux – the Enterprise Resource Planning System – and Wikipedia – the online encyclopedia. This community will consist of other professionals and prospective clients -  both organisations and workers - partnering and interacting virtually around multi-disciplinary, organisational e-solutions.
FEATURE 3: INTERCONNECTIVITY  
Accompanying, and enabled, by digitised virtualisation, will be a relentless drive towards interconnectivity: everything/ anything/ anyone talking to everything/ anything/ anyone. Being present and delivering on an ongoing basis, anything, anywhere, anytime, anyhow, for anyone.  By heightening the density of relationships cyber-spacetime wise in all directions, interconnectivity is turning the world into a single, dynamic dense (or thick), organic, relationship network.  
Globalisation and Interconnectivity are two sides of the same coin. The former embraces boundarilessness movement, though in many instances still physical but rapidly transforming because of digitised virtualisation. The latter provides the means to make boundarilessness movement possible by providing connectivity for 24/7/365 information/ knowledge mining, networking, collaboration and delivery.  
Technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT); social media in the form of Google, Facebook, LinkedIn, Blogs, Twitter, WhatsApp, Instagram; smart phones; and Cloud enabled communication, facilitate spacetime freed, interconnectivity in previously unimaginable ways.
Given the adoption of a global mind set, what are the implications of interconnectivity for the future People Professional?
Firstly, because everything/ anything/ anyone are (increasingly) connected virtually, the future People Professional’s being in the future world will have to be framed and informed by holistic, integrated, systemic - rational and intuitive - thinking and doing about the global world. She will need to build an integrated, systemic, dynamic understanding of how the unfolding world works in real time within her chosen action arena. He will require an 'action theory' in the form of a big ‘living’ picture of his action arena. This living picture is to be used like a 'Google map' to chart his action arena and travel within, in a sense-making and meaning-giving way. Her real time understanding must unveil the dynamic pattern(s) in accordance with which the world functions - whether as a vicious and/ or virtuous cycle(s). For genuine deep understanding, he must be able to distill the limited set of underlying rules that inform the nature, dynamics and evolution of uncovered patterns. This insight will enable the People Professional to generate deep insights in order to change an existing pattern. Or, to bring a new pattern into being by changing rules. 
Secondly, the future ready People Professionals will have to realise that accompanying her different way of thinking and doing in an interconnected world, uni-disciplinary solutions are insufficient in providing sustainable answers. The world as an interconnected, ecosystem requires integrated, multi-disciplinary solutions. Going into the future, working seamlessly with other disciplines will be the new normal way of practicing one’s profession, whether as a scientist or practioner.    
FEATURE 4: AUTOMATION  
Interconnectivity is about having a digitised, virtual presence and interaction at all times, in all places with all persons regarding anything/ everything/ anyone. In this world, automation entails producing, delivering and maintaining products/ services with with no/ minimum human intervention in terms of human thinking, decisions and/ or actions.
The world is in the throes of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, characterised by an exponential rate of change in, and emergence of multiple technologies across diverse domains such as the physical, digital, and biological. It is the age of Artificial Intelligence (AI), robotics, machine learning, DNA sequencing, driverless vehicles, 3D printing, nanotechnology, biotechnology, materials science, (renewable) energy storage, and quantum computing. 
This revolution is not only changing the “what” and “how” of doing things but also “who” we are, and must be able to do, as human beings. It is not only merely the age of robots but of ‘cobots’: people working in tandem with robots as manifestation of automation.  
According to a recent McKinsey study, “as many as 45% of the activities individuals are paid to perform, can be automated by adapting currently demonstrated technologies”. Automation-related job substitution will hit high-skilled sectors just as hard as low-skilled ones. 
Under conditions of technological innovation, the demand for highly skilled workers increases while the demand for less educated, lower skilled workers decreases. Typically the jobs of middle and lower income workers are automated. Increasingly robots will perform the more mundane professional work. As AI increases, more complex professional work also will become automated. 
To be ‘automation-proof’, workers of tomorrow increasing will need to cultivate higher level skills, e.g., the ability to think critically; solve complex problems; interact with others collaboratively; be able to think and act innovatively; think systemically/ holistically; learn how to question paradigms and mind sets; learn how to learn; resilience; agility; and inclusivity. ‘Soft’ abilities will grow in demand. ‘Hard’ abilities will be accept as givens.
What are some of the implications of automation for the future People Professional?
Firstly, the increasing, automated delivery of advanced, e-professional services without any personal intervention by a People Professional. Psychological assessment; online development; and self-help apps are already examples of such automation. 
Secondly, the delivery of conventionally exclusively claimed, People Professional services by independent, para-People Professionals, aided by decision-making algorithms. 
Thirdly, the People Professional working alongside robots in jointly delivering professional services, like a development programme or assessment center.   
FEATURE 5: SMART  
The future world of work will be the world of Big Data: generating data from each and every critical event/ transaction/ outcome and turning this data into intelligence through fit-for-purpose decision-making algorithms. The intelligence will be used to take focused real time, in time, pro-active/ predictive action. Becoming and being intelligent in real time, all the time, will be the name of the game in future.
From a ‘smart’ vantage point,   the Fourth Industrial Revolution is challenging professions with respect to two of their most important claims to be special as professions, their holy grail:
firstly, the ability to advance the frontiers of knowledge;  and, 
secondly, the protected, legally enforceable, licence to apply specialised, exclusive knowledge. Increasingly digitised, decision-making algorithms – generating intelligence - are taking over professional work and undermining, eroding and/ or making extinct both above-discussed claims of professions being special.

I would like to suggest that the exponentially unfolding Fourth Industrial Revolution world of work will have at least seven implications for the People Professional of tomorrow:
Firstly, People Professionals will also have to become knowledge engineers, or link up with such specialists, able to encode professional expertise and wisdom into decision-making algorithms for use by para-professionals and themselves.   
Secondly, similarly People Professionals will have to become competent at conceiving and constructing apps and decision-making algorithms - ‘tool kits’ - for everyday use in the work setting by workers and leadership alike. 
Thirdly, being able to build into all apps data-generation capabilities to provide rapid, in time, real time feedback on decisions, advice, actions and outcomes that can be turned into intelligence through decision-making algorithms. This intelligence will be used for continuous improvement and re-invention of the apps concerned. I.e., people analytics expertise will be essential in the future. In this way every app and decision-making algorithms will be enhanced in real time through intelligent feedback every time they are used by clients and the professional. 
Fourthly, the People Profession will need the ability and means to validate propagated knowledge claims in order to discern rapidly misinformation, false truths, and post-truths. Also, to be able to reject unsubstantiated academic evidence, as well as detect incidences of plagiarism and intellectual theft. 
Fifthly, the VICCAS world of ongoing radical and fundamental change may require a switch from an exclusive  verification research paradigm – ‘Painstakingly prove something is true over many years of hypotheses testing, before accepting’ - to a complementary falsification research paradigm – ‘Accept that a theory is true and use it, until evidence to the contrary surfaces during its application, requiring its adaptation’. The pace of change in the new order has become too rapid for the former paradigm to deliver research-based evidence quickly enough for the speed at which practice is moving into the future. 
Sixthly, it will be imperative to find and conduct - in close partnership with both other related disciplines like engineering and organisations - new research processes and methodologies to generate rapidly evidence-based, immediately applicable knowledge about the new world. To my mind, action research and learning are eminently suited to take the primary future, knowledge generation and dissemination driving seat. Thus the silo-ed separation between higher education/ research institutions and practice will have to be eliminated largely. Otherwise, the pure academics only involved in the scientific dimension of our profession will be turned rapidly into extinct dinosaurs, given the speed of change. 
Seventhly, the smart, digitised virtualisation and ‘automation’ of the profession would demand a fundamental and radical rethink of the appropriate professional ethical code to guide and inform vitualised, automated, e-conduct and e-practices.  
FEATURE 6: SUSTAINABILITY  
There is the growing adoption - sometimes imposed and enforced - of the core value orientation of sustainability through stewardship: leaving the world a better place for upcoming generations. Inter alia, sustainability has been formulated as the United Nations Sustainability Millennium Goals (SMGS).
Extending the conventional triple bottom line of Profit, People and Planet -  in consideration of the SMGs - sustainability can be expanded from an organisational vantage point to  five, interdependent Ps:
Productivity – the effective and efficient use of resources; 
Prosperity – wealth creation by all, fairly and equitably distributed to all; 
People –nurturing the well-being of and care for people; 
Peace – promoting harmony and co-operation between and within the diverse communities and societies in which the organisation operates; and 
Planet -  engendering the ecological well-being of the universe, the environmental footprint of the organisation.
Sustainability through stewardship as narrative will be embedded in an ever-extending, increasingly diverse range of stakeholders whose growingly strident voices, are amplified significantly by the social media, enabling rapid mobilisation around issues, locally and globally. Diverse stakeholders with multiple needs/interests, interwoven in manifold ways – physically and virtually - will be at the heartbeat of the emerging virtualised, global order seen within a sustainability frame of reference.  
In the newly emerging order, not only will the range of stakeholders expand, but their respective needs/interests will be manifold and widespread, and frequently in tension. Multiplication - ‘more’ and ‘different’ – will be the name of the game with respect to future stakeholders. 
The future People Professional will have to adopt a well-articulated view on the legacy she/ he wishes and aspires to leave behind for upcoming generations, considering  a set of clearly defined, multiple stakeholders.
OVERALL FUTURE-FITNESS OF THE PEOPLE PROFESSIONAL: A WELL-CRYSTALLISED, AUTHENTIC, CORE IDENTITY  
The VICCAS world of tomorrow – in particular variety, ambiguity and change, and the above six ‘operating’ features of this world - will require People Professionals with a well-crystalised, Core Identity: ‘I know who and what I am as a professional with my strengths and weaknesses; what I stand for; the two way impact of me on others; and them on me; as well as my place in and contribution to the emerging world order’.  His Core Identity will  incorporate seamlessly his Personal, Professional and Social Identities.
The well-crystalised Identity need to be infused with authenticity. Authenticity relates to having a sense of being true to myself as a person, and being genuine in terms of my understanding and acceptance of whom I am, and wish to be as a person in relation to others, the ‘real’, genuine me. Putting it slightly differently, acting under all circumstance with integrity. Deep personal self-insight and –reflection by the People Professional of tomorrow will be crucial.  
Key to acting authentically – and with integrity - in the world of tomorrow, given the fundamental and radical transformation the world of work is undergoing, would be for the People Professional to have uncompromising belief system regarding the fundamental rights that working people should have within the world of work: a ‘Work Charter’ (or Credo; Manifesto; or Bill of Worker Rights): ‘This is what I stand for and will defend morally as a People Professional regarding the ideal, good world of work.’
Having such a ‘Work Charter’ as moral anchor and compass, is crucial under conditions of hyper-tubulence, hyper-fluidity and fundamental change within the world of work. Especially, because of the far ranging ethical and moral implications of all of the above for this world. The People Professionals should be, and must be, the custodian of and champions for working people. Otherwise, she would be denying the very essence of her calling and commitment as a People Professional.
Examples of principles that could make up such a Work Charter are: regard each person as unique in his/ her make-up, beliefs, needs and aspirations; under all circumstances treat every person with equal respect and dignity; accept people as responsible, trustworthy adults; and deal with everyone in a fair, transparent, truthful and equitable manner.
CONCLUSION  
In summary, within the context of the tomorrow’s world, the People Professional of the future will need to have a global, systemic, multi-disciplinary, big picture mind set and perspective. She will have to be an e-professional, able to conceive, construct and support self-help apps within the cyberspace for multiple users. 
He will have to rethink from first principles the means he uses to conceive, produce, deliver and maintain his professional products/ services using the capabilities enabled by the automation resulting from the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
She will need well-crystalised, authentic, Core Identity, directed and guided by a well-founded Work Charter as a moral anchor and compass in the hyper-fluid, hyper-turbulent and fundamentally changing world. 
Finally, he will need to have an unambiguous position on the lasting, worthy legacy – his contribution to sustainability - he wants to leave behind as a professional for his multiple, diverse stakeholders.
The challenges, demands and requirements for the People Professional of tomorrow are radical, fundamental, and exponentially accelerating.  The imperative is to completely rethink in a zero-based manner, and from first principles, the profession across all of its action domains and roles if the People Profession wishes to be future-ready and –fit. Additionally, radically re-invent the what and how offered by training institutions, like universities, in educating and training future-ready People Professionals.
Otherwise, at a minimum future People Professionals definitely will be earmarked to be sidelined as being irrelevant because they are mismatched to the emerging future. Or, at a maximum they will be shunted to the museum for professional antiques, to be preserved with great reverence as extinct dinosaurs. 
The choice is ours.

AusEd is an online learning university that has provided IT programs. It is easy to see its role as allowing students to “be what they want to be” through these online programs. IT discipline-specific skills and generic transferable skills have been assisted by the learning opportunities that have been supported by communities, industries and businesses in partnership. These links will create alternative learning experiences and opportunities to add more benefits into the learning journey of students. AusEd’s aim is to offer a diverse community of career professional that can contribute to social change positively. The organisation prides itself on being a professional provider, creating postgraduate education to many who want to get a fantastic opportunity to experience it. Therefore, this project will support AusEd to analyse some possible problems in IT infrastructure and suggest some crucial solutions that assist them to improve the service quality, efficient system operation and adapt to rapidly changing technology in IT infrastructure.
Purpose and scope of the problem space as well as business context
Before raising the purpose and scope of the problem, there is an analysis to understand the business circumstance in term of information technology infrastructure system development. Business context: AusEd online education has currently focused on three major divisions sales, course delivery, and operations. Firstly, the sales department has managed the sales and marketing operation. Managing agents and code promotion are the mains targets. SugarCRM is an important enterprise application for customer relationship management that has been used to assist these activities from sales department to empower the company to gain and retain customers. Secondly, course delivery division has distributed for the development of course material and running the special study centres and others. Thirdly, the operations division has controlled all the operations encompassing accounting, email and other essential services. MYOB is the essential application that they has implemented to manage accounting activities. For enhancing sustainable development, the organization has conduct a crucial strategic plan including two main parts. The first part is increasing income by diversifying sources of funding such as Australia's AusAid and New Zealand's NZAid. In order to archive this plan, they add more education services to areas with low quality and unstable Internet connections. In addition, AusEd also wants to improve reliability of student assessments. The second thing is minimising cost of none-core activities. For details, AusEd will seriously consider to reduce various supportive activities on operations and technology development. Purpose and scope of the problem In this part, the purpose and scope of the problem will consider after analysing business context. AusEd has a specification feature that all educational activities are online learning so that networking infrastructure is an important role such as website learning, email, external agents and management applications. In addition, the major subject in university is Information Technology so that IT infrastructure must be good enough to ensure all education activities are reliable and stable. After reviewing the current system, educational activities features and AusEd’s development strategies, this project will suggest some beneficial points to enhance the performance, technology and security of the current system in order to achieve minimising cost as much as possible.
Scope of the system descriptions and assumptions
Scope of the system descriptions In general view, AusEd has five main sites in many different places, including two branch offices in Pt. Moresby and Suva and four study centres in Melbourne, Sydney, PNG and Suva that will connect with head office in Darwin through the internet environment as a diagram illustrates below:

When these sites connect through the Internet environment, there will have two popular methods to connect between these sites encompassing centralized and distributed networking. After analysing the current system and also current business circumstance, the project will select the centralization method. This method will bring many beneficial points, particularly, minimising cost of system facilities and reducing employee operation cost in each sites, according to Lann (2017). On the other hand, maintenance cost and updated cost on network equipment for each site decrease, significantly but it still has been operated on high performance and security through the high technology networking devices from datacentre services (Null & Labor 2014). Overall, the selected method can adapt to AusEd business line and the strategies in long-term development and will be described more detail in system design. Assumptions The project will have some assumptions for designing the new system for AusEd. Firstly, the project assumes that just only Darwin has already got a current system such as server, PCs, laptop and basic networking devices such as cables, routers, WIFI modem. The remained sites need to setup new subsystems that are similar the system in head office. Secondly, AusEd’s policies allow the new system to use open source software. Besides, AusEd will hire some different kinds services in the same datacentre in one vendor in Darwin Australia such as, VM (Virtual Machine) domain controller server, VM DNS server, VM files server and VM database server, firewall application, VPN services and Internet service. Secondly, the project assumes that Head-office will have 120 users, branch office 40 users and study centre 100 users.
Appropriate System design by using suitable schematic diagrams
Networking diagram for AusEd’s new system In diagram (H), the system can divide into three main groups, encompassing two groups for external site and one group for internal site. The first group for external site include all kinds of cloud services such as email, website hosting, applications and VoIP and the other one is remote users and mobile users. A group for internal site is head office in Darwin, two branch offices in Suva and Pt. Moresby and four study centres in PNG, Suva, Sydney and Melbourne. However, in PNG, Suva and Pt. Moresby sites the branch offices and study centre will connect to data centre-Cloud Services in Darwin through VPN connection with the network private port as showing in diagram (H). There are some main features that new system can provide as requirements: Allow each internal site can connect to datacentre following private port. Allow external sites as mobile users or remote users can connect to datacentre though VNP through firewall. Allow internal site from different location such as Suva, PNG and Pt. Moresby to connect through VPN with private port. Allow all cloud services such as email, Internet, database from different enterprise to connect through cloud port. Allow server to use open-source software for example: Linux, OpenVPN… Setup security applications such as anti virus such as Norton, KIS… Support VoIP for 3 offices and 4 study centres.

Therefore, the networking devices will be the same with the head office but it will be different in configuring the system and the connection method. Head office will use LAN connection whereas some study centres in difference location will use VPN connection because of security issues through the Internet environment (Stallings & Case 2013). Some essential functions are required such as: • Photocopying, scanning and printing facilities • Wi-Fi networking to permit learners to connect their devices or laptops to the Internet and University systems • Students can access Moodle website for online learning. • Student can use other resource for studying including desktop PC, online library resources and technology. • Student can use phone to call home over the Internet (VoIP). Some main and important issues consider in new design system a.Datacenter-Cloud services selection According to Warren (2016), there are three mains criteria for selecting data center vendors. -Location: choose a vendor that has a nearest location with the organization, particular head office, in term of management issues. -Capacity: there are two main requirements based on analysis steps include, performance and reliability. Datacenter must have tier III qualification that ensures the system to be available during their backup or maintenance (Null & Labor 2014). In addition, vendor’s service must address to AusEd’s capacity and scale requirements. -Interconnect: this issue relates to AusEd’s interconnect requirements such as cloud speed connection and inter-connect to a lot of other providers to create a bundled service as MYOB, SugarCRM and Moodle. b. Facilities issues Before buying process conducted, selecting suitable facilities is the key point that can cut cost for the budget. For example, all sites are basically similar network infrastructure. However, head office have 120 users that will be implemented special networking devices such as strong router, Wi-Fi router and switch with having enough performance for 120 users and the two branch offices will use normal networking devices for supporting 40 users because of minimising cost strategy. c. Security This project will select some security methods to protect the new system from top information security concerns for this enterprise such as - Data Breach: According to Karena (2014), embarrassing data breaches officially become more popular and known as mega breaches. According to Sean Kopelke as senior director of technology at Symantec, smaller companies are the easier targets that hackers will gain access because of weakness IT infrastructure. -Ransom ware, hacker, mobile threats, attack on point-of-sale system and attack on IoT devices. Therefore, the projects choose using VPN devices and cloud port for external sites, deploying firewall, using private port for internal sites. Besides, this will deploy antivirus software as Norton or KIS for servers. d. Using open source software: OpenVNP for VPN connection, Linux for servers and Moodle for e-learning website in term of reducing cost.
A complete list of equipment, devices necessary for the design
Based on new designed system, this project proposes a complete list of devices and cloud services for deploying a new system. A/ In datacentre, the system needs to setup some devices and services. Hardware: - In data centre, vendor must ensure that the devices and software are available following the shared plan contract. There are some essential devices and software vendor must has as below: 1 physical server to run some crucial VM servers to connected all sites together 1 VM Domain Controller server is used to control users through permission when they login into the system. It also can setup VPN and firewall for security (Lee 2014). 1 VM Domain Name System server is used to allow users login to the system with simple name instead of memorising IP address (Manfield, 2009). 1 VM Database server is used to store data from internal system and other system such as SugarCRM, MYOB, also email. 1 VM Web server for hosting Moodle 1 VM File server is used to store library’s resource, internal resources. Setup Snapshot VM method for backup and store in server. Switches Routers, VPN devices, Firewall devices Cables Software: Firewalls are setup through software and hardware such as ISA, Window server firewall. A cost analysis of the proposed Infrastructure design
There are two complete list of price for devices, software and services, including selected vendors and estimated cost (Appendix-Table1 and Table 2). These lists are selected based on AusEd’s strategies and requirements. This project considers keeping all services of software that AusEd has used because of their stability and saving time and budget. In order to minimising cost, the project does not conduct exchange email server instead of using office 365 services. This pack of services can save more cost if the Office 365 business premium is selected. It includes Ms-Office 2016 full package with 5 licences for PC, tablet and phone, email service and teleconference. In security software, the project suggests to use Kaspersky Endpoint Security because of saving cost and good performance (Egan 2017). The estimated total cost of hardware, services and software for 150 users at once initiate setup is approximate AUD 583,000 (523,000+60,000) (Appendix Table 1 and Table 2). Cost is paid for monthly maintenance services and software is around $80,000.
Sustainable global economy and environmental responsibilities
The project is not only focus on bringing more benefits for the organisation but also consider about sustainable global economy and environmental issues. There are some responsible actions for these issues. Firstly, the project is setup following the Green IT trends. Using IT devices are low electric consumptions in order to save energy for sustainable development. Secondly, the project uses some new technological methods such as virtualization for saving energy and protect environment (Lann 2013). This method can reduce quantity of using physical equipment to save cost, energy and protect environment by less releasing old severs. On the other hand, desktop PCs are setup sleep mode and electrical devices are unplugged when unused. According to Ohio University and Mulquiney (2011), these actions can reduce cut energy consumption by more than 70%. Another actions respond to environmental protections such as hiring green office buildings such as Meinhardt building, using datacentre services that consume electricity creating by solar. For example, using solar power, some datacentres in Australia can cut off 40% in electric bills (SMH 2012).

This week I attended the PowerShell Conference EU in Hannover in Germany and it was one of the best PowerShell conferences I attended until now. It started with the Agenda Competition for which I created an VSCode extension.

Session: Opening Ceremony
Tobias did a great job to feel us all welcome at the PSConfEu.
  And in the mean time an attendee sitting besides me installed my VSCode extension. Cool to see people use things I created.
Session: Keynote: State of the Union
Jeffrey Snover answered the question if “PowerShell was done?” His answer to this was Yes… and No. The new mission of PowerShell is now “Being the connector of the Hybrid Cloud”
Core PowerShell will be the connector for the Hybrid Cloud. Not Windows PowerShell. There is a difference between Windows PowerShell and Core PowerShell. Check Jeffrey’s reaction on this on twitter.
Jeffrey also mentioned VSCode and the PowerShell Extension which David Wilson developed. The reason according to Jeffrey why we developed VSCode and the VSCode Extension is that “we wanted a first class PowerShell editor on Linux” Check out the reactions on twitter.
Jeffrey also talked about Core PowerShell in Azure, like Cloud Command Shell. (PowerShell will be added soon besides Bash). DSC as Native Azure Configuration. That means a Common Windows & Linux LCM, Multiple LCM Instances, Native code LCM for lightweight environments and LCM as Library.

  You can download the code from Github and follow the build steps to manually install the module. The build script does not work according to David.
Here is an example when I used the following command:

If you get below message when running redo the following steps:

Those steps fixed my initial issue.
Why is Phosphor such a cool project? This will help you create PowerShell-based user interfaces in any platform or UI framework. For more ideas check out the goals section on the Github Phosphor page.
And the cool thing of Phosphor is that is has a REST API you can call. Make sure you have started Phosphor and run the following commands:

Session: The Release Pipeline in Practice
Matt Hitchcock talked how to implement a Release Pipeline for DSC. One of the tips he had to implement Rollback into your DSC configurations is to first create an Absent Configuration in your DSC Configuration and change that later to Present. Great tip from Matt, which I’m going to implement in my DSC Configurations too.

Aws vs Google Cloud
While AWS is undoubtedly the benchmark of cloud service quality, it has some drawbacks.Today we compare Amazon Web Services (AWS) with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
AWS definitely is the leader of the cloud computing services, due to being the pioneer in the IaaS industry since 2006 and being 5 years ahead of other popular cloud service providers. However, this leads to certain inconveniences and drawbacks that can be exploited by the competition. Essentially, the sheer amount of AWS services is overwhelming.
While Google Cloud Platform does not boast such an ample list of services, it rapidly adds new products to the table. The important thing to note is that while AWS does offer a plethora of services, many of them are niche-oriented and only a few are essential for any project. And for these core features, we think Google cloud is a worthy competitor, even a hands-down winner sometimes, though many of essential features, like PostgreSQL support are still in beta in GCP.
Google Cloud can compete with AWS in the following areas:
• Cost-efficiency due to long-term discounts
• Big Data and Machine Learning products
• Instance and payment configuration
• Privacy and traffic security
Cost-efficiency due to long-term discounts
Customer loyalty policies are essential as they help the customers get the most of each dollar, thus improving commitment. However, there is an important difference here: AWS provides discounts only after signing for a 1-year term and paying in advance, without the right to change the plan. This, obviously, is not the perfect choice, as many businesses adjust their requirements dynamically, not to mention paying for a year in advance is quite a significant spending.
GCP provides the same flexibility, namely the sustained-use discounts, after merely a month of usage, and the discount can be applied to any other package, should the need for configuration adjustment arise. This makes long-term discount policy from GCP a viable and feasible alternative to what AWS offers, and rather an investment, not an item of expenditure. Besides, you avoid vendor lock-in and are free to change the provider if need be, without losing all the money paid in advance.
Big Data and Machine Learning products
AWS is definitely the leader for building Big Data systems, due to in-depth integration with many popular DevOps tools like Docker and Kubernetes, as well as providing a great solution for server less computing, AWS Lambda, which is a perfect match for short-time Big Data analysis tasks.
At the same time, GCP is in possession of the world’s biggest trove of Big Data from Google Chrome, which supposedly deals with more than 2 trillion searches annually. Having access to such a goldmine of data is sure to lead to developing a great kit of products, and Big query is definitely such a solution. It is capable of processing huge volumes of data rapidly, and it has a really gentle learning curve for such a feature-packed tool (it even produces real-time insights on your data). The best thing about it is that Big query is really user-friendly and can be used with little to none technical background, not to mention $300 credit for trying out the service.
Instance and payment configuration
As we explained in our article on demystification of 5 popular Big Data myths, cloud computing can be more cost-efficient as compared to maintaining on-prem hardware. Essentially, this really goes down to using the resources optimally and under the best billing scheme. AWS, for example, uses prepaid hourly billing scheme, which means running a 1 hour and 5 minute-long task would cost 2 full hours.
In addition, while AWS offers a plethora of various EC2 virtual machines under several billing approaches, these configurations are not customizable. This means if your task demands 1.4GB RAM, you have to go with the 2GB package, meaning you are overpaying. Of course, there are several ways to save money with Amazon, from bidding for Spot instances to lending Reserved instances and opting for per-second billing. Unfortunately, the latter option is currently available only for Linux VM’s.
GCP, on the contrary, offers per-second billing as an option for ALL their virtual machines, regardless of the OS’s they run on, starting 26th of September 2017. What’s even more important, their instances are fully configurable, so the customers can order 1 CPU and 3.25GB RAM, or 4.5GB, or 2.5GB — you get the meaning.
Privacy and traffic security
As The Washington Post told us, NSA has infiltrated the data center connections and eavesdropped on Google once (many more times, supposedly). This breach has lead to Google opting for full-scale encryption of all their data and communication channels. Even the stored data is encrypted, not to mention the traffic between data centers.
AWS is still lagging in this regard. Their Relational Database Service (RDS) does provide data encryption as an option, yet it is not enabled by default and requires intense configurations if multiple availability zones are involved in the equation. The inter-data center traffic is also not encrypted by AWS as of now, which poses yet another potential security threat.
