Pretend She’s Here, by Luanne Rice
This was a thrilling book about a girl who was kidnapped by the family of her dead best friend. They were driven mad by grief and attempted to replace their daughter with her best friend. This book has a running theme of family touching on things like the main characters strong connection with her siblings and their struggle with her mother’s alcoholism. It also explores the hidden dynamics of the main characters best friends’ family and how the grief of losing their daughter changed them. Overall it was a spectacular book with compelling characters and a solid plot.

Safe Harbour (Luanne Rice)
Tumblr media
Hi, everyone!
After a long time without a book review, I bring one today and... well... I have to be honest: I wasn't right if I should to talk about it, but, before we start to think wrongs things, let's go to synopsis...
Safe Harbour (Luanne Rice)
After death of her sister Lily, Dana Underhill decides stopping temporarily her career as artistic to dedicate herself for her nieces Quinn and Allie. However, it's not a simple return, since besides them, her former student also come back and, from there, everything may happen...
Why I thought well besides to talk about it...
As I said, I thought a lot before make commentaries about this book because I thought it boring... It's different, for example, of Graveminder: though it's not my style, the Melissa Marr's book was funny reading. This, however, I took to time a lot and it looked that  never would finish
Attention! I'm not saying that romantic novels are boring; I'm saying that I thought the form of author or, at least, translator writes, boring.
There're books that we like reading very much and there're books that we even try to finish, but... no... it's so boring that you simply can not. Who loves reading know what I'm talking about.
Of course that don't mean the author is not good or something like this. I'm just saying that I didn't like it.
Completing all, the text has a lot of cliches and description and more description of characters feelings.
For readings of Escritor ao Vento more exciting and who may say that this review is very superficial, I answer: yes, you're right. I even tried focusing on the book, however, I couldn't and, when I realized, I've been on automatic mode. Because of this, if you liked of Safe Harbour, please, talk about it in the commentaries.
So...
If you like romantic novels with sugar and a little bit of mysteries and beyond time loves, Safe Harbour is for you.

A Serial Reader
I am a serial reader.  I love reading books that are part of a series.  Why, you ask?  I love serials, because I am often not ready for a character or characters to leave my life.  This week was a serial week.  I was able to read a number of books that were books that belonged to series and I authors I read religiously.  I love reading these books.  It is like sitting with an old friend having a drink or cuppa tea and hearing all about what is new in their life!  Think about how much fun it is to catch up with a friend.  Reading the next book in a series often promotes that same feeling of joy.  This week was a joyous reading week.
I LOVE JD Robb aka Nora Roberts.  She is an awesome author.  My favorite series of all times is her series “In Death” about Eve Dallas and Roarke.  This book started - 52 books ago.  We are brought into the future and into the world of NYC in the future.  Cars can fly and food is made by autochefs.  The Urban Wars have ended and we are introduced to Lieutenant Eve Dallas, a kick ass homicide detective for NYC.  She is married to Roarke, a hottie who (according to Eve) owns half the world.  Each book is a new case and another chapter in Eve and Roarke’s life.  They are supported by a number of great characters who help with the mysteries/murders.  What has happened over time is that Eve and Roarke as characters have grown.  In particular, Eve is lacking social skills and Roarke has helped her learn.  Personally, I find Eve’s confusion with figurative language and new social situation humorous.
For those who do not know about the Kellerman Family and their writing, you are missing some fun times.  Faye Kellerman writes a series about Peter Decker and Rina Lazarus and I read her newest novel this week. The series is about solving mysteries after all Peter is a detective.  But Rina just can’t help herself and always helps Peter - or at least cooks for everyone.  After all these books, their children are grown and their lives have changed and will change again.  Jonathan Kellerman also writes thriller murder mysteries, but his main charater is Dr Alex Delaware, a child psychologist who consults for the Los Angeles Police Department.  I have his book, Serpentine  to read this week as it just came out.  They also have a son, who (surprisingly enough) is a writer.
Elise Cooper has sent in a book review of Hunting a Killer by Nicole Helm and others.  (and yes - it is part of a series) http://marjay.simplesite.com/443139528   She has also sent in an interview with Luanne Rice and her newest book The Shadow Box. http://marjay.simplesite.com/239538810
Books Read this week:

The Lost Boys by Faye Kellerman
Faithless in Death by JD Robb
Inked Persuasion by Carrie Ann Ryan

📚 BOOK REVIEW: 𝗟𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗗𝗮𝘆 by Luanne Rice . 💌 My Rating: ❤️❤️❤️❤️/5 . ✏️ My Review: This is the first book by Luanne Rice I have the pleasure reading. It won’t be the last. Her writing is gorgeous, and she creates intricate scenarios that lead the readers to believe that they know what will happen next and it does not always go that way. This keeps you reading and wanting to know where the story will go. 𝗟𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗗𝗮𝘆 is the story of two sisters, one painting, and a repeating event. Kate is devastated when she discovers her sister Beth’s murdered body. A flow of memories assails her as she remembers what happened to them twenty-three years prior. Is this a repeat crime or a copycat? Who killed Beth? Many have motives but only one person did it. . Suspenseful, this book is well structured and provides the readers with all the clues to solve the mystery. The ending is surprising and satisfying. Awesome book! . 🙋🏼‍♀️ Thanks to Thomas Allen & Son for sending me an ARC of this fantastic novel. 𝗟𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗗𝗮𝘆 by Luanne Rice will be available at your favourite bookstore on February 1st, 2020. . 👩🏼‍🏫 𝗤𝗢𝗧𝗗: How many siblings do you have?
