Documentary about Werner Herzog.

After the interview snippets from various people during the opening I was briefly worried how this would turn out. But thankfully it then gets quickly more serious about Herzog. And often unexpectedly sentimental.

He's truly unique, one of a kind. But as can be seen in the doc, during filming of some of the iconic movies like Aguirre and Fitzcarraldo, he was also pretty unprepared and irresponsible.

It's interesting to hear from Herzog's brother. I also liked seeing Wim Wenders. The stories of their movies are vastly different. I wonder how a conversation between the two would go.

If you're familiar with Herzog's filmography, then I don't think you learn much new. But it's still an entertaining watch.

Alle 22.30, nella stessa sala, si terrà la proiezione di Nomad: In the Footsteps of Bruce Chatwin di Werner Herzog. Con il suo nuovo film, il visionario regista offre il ritratto di uno degli scrittori più carismatici del ’900.

In Nomad: In the Footsteps of Bruce Chatwin  quando Chatwin stava morendo, mandò a chiamare il suo amico Werner Herzog, chiedendogli di vedere il suo recente film sulle tribù del Sahara, e in cambio, come regalo d’addio, gli donò lo zaino che aveva portato con sé nei suoi viaggi per il mondo. Trent’anni dopo, prendendo con sé lo zaino di Chatwin, Herzog compie un viaggio ispirato dalla loro comune passione per la vita nomade, lungo il quale incrocia storie di dinosauri, tribù perdute, tradizioni aborigene, viandanti e sognatori. Dalla Patagonia, al Galles, fino all’Australia, il viaggio setaccia l’irrequietezza e l’erranza umane.

NOTE DI REGIA Bruce Chatwin era uno scrittore come nessun altro. Ha trasformato storie mitiche in viaggi della mente. Eravamo spiriti affini, lui come scrittore, io come regista. Volevo fare un film che non fosse una biografia tradizionale, ma una serie di incontri ispirati ai viaggi e alle idee di Bruce.
