Beanie - Stuart Twombly
Pairing: Stuart Twombly x Reader
Characters: Stuart Twombly, Lyle Spaulding, Nick Campbell, Billy McMahon, Yo-Yo Santos, Neha Patel
Warnings: N/A
Request: N/A
Word Count: 954
Author: Hannah
You stood with Lyle as the both of you watched the interns get into groups and you smiled when you saw your boyfriend.
You walked over to him and sat next to him "Hiya Sweetheart" he greeted you as he looked up from his phone.
You smiled, "Hey, you need to pick a group Stuart" you greeted him in return but also told him what he needed to do.
He nodded in acknowledgement, "I know" he stated and within moments there were people around him.
You guessed that they were the ones without groups "Have fun" you told him, getting up and going back over to Lyle.
Stuart and you had been dating since the two of you met in your first year of high school but you graduated very early as a result of your photographic memory and talent with technology. You had managed to get a high-up job at Google which you were proud of.
Working at Google had its perks, but a downside was that you didn't get to see Stuart as much as you wanted to which made you miss him a lot - however he always visited during school holidays as his parents knew the two of you wanted to see each other.
You also went back home to his place whenever you got some vacation time to see him, and you often stayed there as your parents moved to England once you got a job.
You had been the one to tell Stuart about the internship competition going on this summer at Google and his parents agreed to him coming.
The winning team of interns were going to get jobs at Google however any high school students had to go back home and finish their senior year, which was what Stuart would have needed to do if his team won, but their jobs were guaranteed when they come back.
Despite your high-up position, you asked to be put on the program for the summer so that you could be with Stuart as much as possible. Plus, each team had to have at least one Google member of staff with them to show them the ropes of the place.
Lyle nudged you which snapped you out of your thoughts "Yeah?" you quizzed, turning to look at him.
He motioned over to a group of people, "There's one team without a member of staff. Come on" he grabbed your arm as he spoke.
Lyle, lead you over to the last team which just so happened to be the team that Stuart was in however they did have two older interns on their team that were most definitely not in high school.
You stole Stuart's beanie once you reached them and placed it on your head which made all the interns look at you with surprised looks on their faces; apart from Stuart of course, he was used to that, back in school you always stole his clothes which he didn't mind.
"Shouldn't you be an intern?" the blonde older guy queried, in slight confusion but also amusement.
You nodded your head in response to him, "Possibly if I didn't already work here" you answered, showing him your pass that was around your neck.
"What are your names?" Lyle quizzed, jumping the gun slightly, causing you to laugh a little.
You smiled at the group of people in front of you, "I think we should introduce ourselves first" you suggested and Lyle nodded a little sheepishly "Well I am Y/N and I work here at Google. I have been here for around 2 and a half years now after a year and a half at high school" you introduced yourself, giving a bit of your background to your team also.
Lyle introduced himself also, before allowing the rest of your group to talk, "I'm Neha" the only other girl smiled as she spoke, presumably in an attempt to lighten the mood.
"My name's Billy" the other older guy spoke before patting his friend on the back.
His friend smiled at everyone, a smiley group it seemed, "I am Nick" the blonde older guy introduced himself.
"I'm Yo-Yo Santos" the guy with weird eyebrows told your group, his name was definitely different but different was good at Google.
You still had Stuart's beanie on your head and he smiled at you "I'm Stuart" he stated whilst still smiling at you which wasn't a rare occurrence.
Lyle decided to take the team to a table where you could all sit down and get to know each other.
You and Stuart sat next to each other and Stuart took that as an opportunity to steal his beanie back. - he took it off your head which made you pout "Hey" you complained with a pout on your face.
Stuart shook his head, a hint of a smirk on his face, "Nope, my hat Y/N" he told you.
"Why are you two so close?" Lyle questioned, as you stole Stuart's phone as payback.
You smiled slightly, looking over at Stuart briefly, "We're dating" you stated with a shrug.
Your words caused the team's mouths to drop "You're what?" Billy quizzed in clear disbelief, the rest of the team looking confused.
Stuart rolled his eyes, "I am her boyfriend" he spoke in a slightly bored tone, not understanding how people couldn’t grasp that fact.
"How did you get her?" Yo-Yo asked with a smirk on his face.
Stuart shrugged "You tell me" he told everyone, and you eventually gave him his phone back.
"Hot nerd. Duh" you explained simply which made Stuart roll his eyes but he kissed your cheek anyway, you looked to your boyfriend and smiled innocently "Can I have the beanie back now?"

Characters I'd sell my fucking kindeys to have in Dead By Daylight
-First isn't really an addition, but a slight change. I'd switch OG Michael Myers with RZ Michael Myers because he'd honestly be so much scarier. I mean imagine that fucking 6'9 fucking unstoppable giant barreling towards you.... that's pants-shitting worthy lmao
-Vincent and Bo Sinclair as killers and Carly and Nick as survivors (House of Wax)
-Asa Emory as a killer (The Collector)
-Ed and Lorraine Warren as survivors (The Conjuring)
-Choptop and Nubbins Sawyer as killers. As happy as I am that Bubba is in DBD, I hate how the twins aren't (Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1 & 2)
-a Yautja as a killer. this would be so fucking cool omg- (Predator)
-Herbert West. Now he's a tricky one. I could honestly see him fitting well into both the role of a killer and the role of a survivor. If he were a survivor I could see Dan Cain being a survivor too, and adding Carl Hill as a killer, but I can also see Herbert (and maybe even Dan) as killers with Francesca Danelli as a survivor. Either way, I think it's be amazing to have him in it (Re-Animator)
-Daniel Robitaille as a killer and Helen Lyle as a survivor (Candyman)
-Otis Driftwood, Baby Firefly, and/or Captain Spaulding as killers (House of 1000 Corpses)
-Charles Lee Ray / Chucky as a killer, maybe Tiffany Valentine too (Child's Play / The Bride of Chucky)
-Sal Fisher as a killer and Larry Johnson and Ashley Campbell as survivors (Sally Face)
-Nel and Luke Crain as survivors (The Haunting of Hill House)
-any of the FNAF animatronics as killers
-Jennifer Check as a killer (Jennifer's Body)
-The Other Mother as a killer and Coraline Jones and Wybie Lovat as survivors. now I know this movie technically isn't horror but c'mon, you gotta admit it's like, honorary horror lmao (Coraline)
-The Scooby Doo gang as survivors. another that isn't horror, but c'mon, it'd be so cool to be able to play as them (Scooby Doo)
-David, Marko, Dwayne, and Paul as killers and Star, Michael, Sam, and the Frog Bros as survivors. this would be so fucking sick omg- (The Lost Boys)
-Wichita, Tallahassee, Little Rock, and Columbus as survivors (Zombieland)
-Tucker and Dale as survivors. this would be fucking hilarious hwjjw- (Tucker and Dale vs Evil)
-Jesse Cromeans as a killer. another one that would be pants-shitting worthy lol (Laid To Rest)
-Tomie as a killer. this would be sooo cool (Tomie by Junji Ito)
-Lady Dimitrescu and Karl Heisenberg as killers. I can't tell if this duo would be more cool or terrifying lmao (Resident Evil Village)
-Beetlejuice as a killer and Lydia Deetz as a survivor (Beetlejuice)
-Rick and Carl Grimes as survivors (The Walking Dead)
Bonus:
-John Wick as a survivor. is his franchise horror? nope. BUT I think it's be fucking amazing to have him in the game. Like, he's virtually unbeatable by humans, now let's see how he fairs with the supernatural

The Residents
Here are the households that I may check in on from time to time, but won’t be playing in rotation. They are all housed throughout Thicket and many have roles such as stylists or coworkers of my played sims! For the most part, I don’t do a ton to the majority of my sims except get rid of crazy hair or super crazy outfits. I kinda like the variety of sims I get and usually let them match themselves up as well. All of these sims aside from the Fields are pretty much as they spawned. I did some sculpting to Tamsen Field’s face to make her look more unique and I thinned and buffed Dean really because I thought he was a clone of Randal Stark until I downloaded the cc skins and eyes I use and realized they look nothing alike!

The Baron Family: Clayton Baron, his fiancé Monica Ernst and their new baby Tyree along with dog Snaggles, who is obviously hungry for hotdogs!

The Betancourt family: Serena and her fiancé Kirby Cho. I’ll probably check in on them more than some of the others :)

The Cabral family: Dwayne and Betsy with daughter Rebekah and dog Scout. They own the farm with greenhouse that I posted a picture of. My intent is that they will sell produce and flowers from their farm or at one of the local commercial lots.

The Cannon family. Darrel Cannon and his fiancé Tanya Schipano. They are both stylists in Thicket.

The DeLuca’s: Dereck was a werewolf, but I didn’t want to have a ton of supernatural stuff in this play through. Shawn, his wife, is the boss of Lynne Beckwith which is the first family up in rotation. Their daughter Mara and dog, Lady.

The Dowling’s: Nicholas and Corinna. Nicholas is best friends with another townie Dan Waggoner. Corinna was the first of about 5 Corine, Corina ect spawned by the game so most of them had their names changed, but it fit her so I left it!

The Field’s: Dean and Tamsen are both Drs.

The Gold family: Lyle and Randi with son Clyde and dog Sheba.

The Hastings Family: Shad is the local detective and Rena works as a desk clerk at the spa.

The Haywood family: Brendon Haywood is the local architectural designer and just moved in with girlfriend Hilda Winstead.

The Hillards: Armand (Armie for short) is a chef at the Three Sirens restaurant which he owns and his wife Shelley Huey-Hillard is the highest ranking official at the City Hall. They have just had their first child, Brett Huey Hillard.

The Holm family: Brennon, who is the brother to Quinton Holm an NPC and his wife Marcie. They have recently adopted a kitten, Nona.

The Jacques family: Jamie, Audrey and Donny Jacques. Jamie is kind of the town loon.

The Pullen’s: Joel Pullen and Kelly Fuentes-Pullen, newlyweds. Kelly is the sister of Bryce Fuentes an NPC and they are apparently always getting together because they pop up on my sp all the time as family reunion and sharing the town gossip!

The Runyon family: Domingo Runyon and another one of the Corinne’s I kept. Corinne Watt. I had moved these two single sims in together with the intention they would wind up together, but they’ve been shaking up my planned stories the past couple of days!!

The Sheldon family: Boy do Cecil and Beverly have their hands full! She had just given birth to baby Ferra when I finished my world testing and got the rotation set up and surprise! she had a second baby, Ifran two days into the rotation! I really need to get the pregnancy tuner set up so my sims aren’t cranking out kiddos every other day!

The Spaulding family: Joel Spaulding and Shauna Watkins. Best friends and maybe more along with master hunter Egon the cat.

The Waggoner family: Dan Waggoner (best friend of Nick Dowling) and his fiancé Michelle Torrez. Dan is also pretty good friends with Vance McKay and Carlos Munoz who are both in the rotation.

The Wells family: Bryon and Lisa were roommates of Norman Davies before he met Gwen. As you can see, Lisa is fond of cats :) Mackie is the mother with kittens Dink, Elijah and Mittens

The Westmoreland family: Arthur and Bernice (who can be a little demanding) along with their cat Maggie and roommate Tanika Bateman. Tanika is the only EA roommate I haven’t deleted as she is the girlfriend of Alexandria Newcomb and will likely play a much larger role in the play through unless sp has other plans :)

6 & 15?
15 questions about mun’s taste in muses. || status: accepting!
6. is there a muse you’d add or bring back if you didn’t have to worry about whether others are interested in them or not?
oh, man. there are a lot of muses i’d like to bring back just because of how much i miss them, like captain spaulding ( a nasty clown will likely make a grand return when his new movie comes out at some point this year ), ginger, lep and my medium oc letty ( disclaimer on some of these for writing i’m not so proud of anymore and/or people on there i no longer associate with ). i've never made him a blog, but i've been writing for escargoon from the kirby anime privately for years and years, so it'd be nice to give him a try on tumblr too! it isn’t so much that i worry about disinterest as i feel like i wouldn’t be able to devote the time to all of them that they deserve, unless they’re all put on a multi! which i may or may not do - i already have a side-blog set up in case i decide to go for it.
muses i’d really like to play that i haven’t yet ( outside of some interactions on discord ) are two characters from killer klowns from outer space ( shorty and cherry ), my witch oc clio, noo.dle + cybor.g nood.le from gor/illaz, a couple jeepers creepers characters ( trish, minxie and possibly izzy, to name a few ), helen lyle from candyman, juno kaplan from the descent, seth brundle from the fly, a good handful of characters from basket case ( sharon, susan, ellice, elmo, marcie and the dreaded duane, who i despise as a person but am intrigued by as a character ) and possibly snow white from tw/au. as you can see, i’m really into horror characters… though most of these guys are on the obscure side, and i don’t know how many of them would be able to carry their own blogs. i’m hesitant to play any gor/illaz characters outside of murdoc’s blog or on a multi just because i dislike the rpc for gor/illaz and would rather avoid it. i like snow a lot, but i’m very nervous to take on such a major and beloved character from yet Another fandom i don’t like very much - i also don’t know if people would be into my personal interpretation of snow, nor do i think they'd be thrilled by the fact i’m not a snow/by shipper what so fucking ever.
but hey! never say never.
15. which muses of yours have currently very dead fandoms?
i wouldn’t say murdoc’s fandom is dead so much as, again, i don’t want anything to do with it for a myriad of reasons. the gor/illaz rpc is nasty and its overall fandom is nasty. i don’t really know what’s going on there outside of my own personal little bubble because i’d rather Not Know, most of the time.
my other major muse, belial, absolutely belongs to a dead fandom because there is no basket case fandom to begin with. and given the horrible shit i’ve seen go on in fandoms, especially over the past few years? i’m kind of okay with that. i’m totally down for other people making BC blogs, of course, but a full-fledge Fandom? no thanks. i can already imagine the discourse that would go on and it makes my head hurt.

by ShelbyPLavender
After the Ghost Riders, Stiles needed a break from Beacon Hills. So, when his dad mentioned a internship at Google, the teenager couldn’t resist. He took the internship because his dad insisted.
It totally wasn’t because Lydia was at Stanford.
But Stiles didn’t want his past...activities to be found out, so he changed his name on the report to Stuart Twombly. God bless Danny, for teaching him how to hack.
When he arrived at Google Headquarters, he didn’t expect to make new friends.
Lyle, the geek who got the hot girl.
Neha, the girl who deserved more.
Nick, the guy who kept trying no matter what.
Billy, the guy who understood people.
Yo-Yo, the guy who wanted to prove himself.
They were his new family.
He just didn’t expect them to meet his other one.

new arrivals 11-17-17
stormy records13306 michigan avedearborn, mi 48126 313-581-9322 the holiday season is about to be here. we're looking forward to helping you all find thoughtful musical artifacts to bring joy to you and yours. stop by and talk turkey - literally - while looking over all the great items in the shop!! new arrivals for 11-17-17 HAINO/JIM O'ROURKE/OREN AMBARCHI, KEIJIThis Dazzling, Genuine "Difference" Now Where Shall It Go? 2LP $34.99Black Truffle presents the eighth full-length release from the trio of Keiji Haino, Jim O'Rourke, and Oren Ambarchi. Over the course of four LP sides, the October 2014 concert documented here ranges from rock power trio dynamics to maelstroms of analog electronics. Once again, the three demonstrate their commitment to pushing into new areas of instrumental exploration and group interaction. Where their previous releases featured extended vocal workouts from Haino, his vocalizations here are restricted to the occasional impassioned cry, putting the focus squarely on instrumental interplay. More than ever before, this feels like the work of three equals, with O'Rourke or Ambarchi taking the lead role as often as Haino does. The four pieces presented here each focus on extended development. The first side is propelled by Ambarchi's busy, Jack DeJohnette-esque cymbal and tom work, which provides a skittering yet insistent pulse over which Haino and O'Rourke's FX-saturated strings rise and fall, momentarily converging for passages of near stasis before wandering through areas of gently sour discord; O'Rourke's use of a six-string bass here boosts the harmonic density of the music and often makes his contribution difficult to distinguish from Haino's guitar. On the second side, O'Rourke uses his pedals to make his bass near unrecognizable, generating a squelching, harmonically unstable riff that Ambarchi accompanies with a semi-martial snare pattern. Haino moves between frenetic octave-doubled fuzz riffing and streams of feedback. The third side is the most abstract; Continuing Haino's explorations of new instruments, the side opens with a long passage of toy piano. Alongside occasional vocal interjections from Haino (singing in English), Ambarchi creates delicate textures on cymbals and metallic percussion while O'Rourke, for the first time in this group, performs on the EMS Synthi. With Haino joining in with his own electronics, the side eventually builds to a chaotic climax. Beginning with a sequence of "fourth world" drums and flute, the final side unfolds an epic build-up over a hypnotic foundation of pounding toms. Moving from flute to vocals to electronics, Haino eventually picks up the guitar in the second half of the piece, igniting a spectral blur over driving rhythms from bass and drums that eventually builds to a frenzied climax. Cover image by Traianos Pakioufakis; Live action pics by Mike Kubeck. LP design by Stephen O'Malley; Gatefold sleeve. Mastered and cut by Rashad Becker at Dubplates & Mastering. GORDON, JOHNErotica Suite LP $25.99Everland Jazz present an official reissue of John Gordon's Erotica Suite, originally released in 1978. One of the rarest albums on Strata-East Records. a great later label effort under the leadership of trombonist John Gordon -- with work by James Spaulding on alto and flute, John Miller on piano and keyboards, Waymond Reed on trumpet, Lyle Atkinson on bass, and Frank Derrick on drums and bells; The whole thing has a very spiritual feel, and it features the long "Erotica Suite", plus "Ora Lee Tingle", "Blue Na", and "Neleh". Licensed by Strata-East Records. GAINSBOURG & JEAN-CLAUDE VANNIER, SERGELes Chemins De Katmandou LP $29.99After decades in the making, Finders Keepers present the first-ever pressing of Serge Gainsbourg's most elusive and coveted soundtrack studio recordings, co-written, arranged, and orchestrated by the genius Jean-Claude Vannier (the arranger behind 1971's Histoire De Melody Nelson) during what many consider to be the dynamic duo's most definitive creative period. Believed to have been lost in a studio fire by Gainsbourg enthusiasts for over forty years (a myth that also shrouds Morricone's lost Danger Diabolik soundtrack), the misplaced master-tapes for the drug-fueled/Mai 68 cash-in/road-movie Les Chemins De Katmandou (1969) have been widely considered the final audio jigsaw piece in an immaculate discography/filmography, thus earning this soundtrack bona fide holy grail status amongst the most avid disc detectives. Featuring the original crack team of Paris based players now recognized as French library music royalty, this album epitomizes the inimitable musical direction and expert psychedelic pop musicianship that graced classic Gainsbourg/Vannier soundtracks like La Horse (1970), Cannabis (1970), and Sex Shop (1972), the sound that laid the stylistic, future-proof foundations for subsequent decades of forward-thinking Gallic funk mastery. Comprising Vannier's signature recipe of thick plucked bass lines, close-mic'd drums, biting clavinet, and Eastern influenced strings and percussion (and a sprinkling of subtle traditional French instrumentation) the soundtrack to Les Chemins De Katmandou ("The Road To Katmandu", or "The Pleasure Pit") captures Vannier and Gainsbourg in the first year of their creative partnership capturing their unique embryonic energy. The music on this record contains the full extent of the music found on the newly discovered studio tapes. It has since been preserved through the "baking" process, re-emulsified, transferred, remastered, and recompiled and sequenced in accordance with the original screenplay in close collaboration with Finders Keepers and inaugural artist, Jean-Claude Vannier. BAKER/SIMON GOFF/THOR HARRIS, AIDANNoplace LP $29.99Noplace is an improvised collaboration between Aidan Baker (Nadja, Caudal, B/B/S/), Simon Goff (Molecular, Bee & Flower), and Thor Harris (Swans, Shearwater, Thor & Friends). Having known each other for a number of years and previously contributed to one another's recordings, this trio finally came together as a whole on May 7th, 2017 at Redrum Studios in Berlin. In a short, improvised session of just a few hours, they set about laying down as much material as possible which was then subsequently edited and re-worked (without overdubs) to form this album. The same evening the trio played together as part of a nine-piece Thor & Friends ensemble which also included Christopher Hefner (on musical saw) whose artwork graces the cover of the record and gave it its name. Noplace is a hypnotic and deep listen. Kinetic rhythms pulsate throughout whilst the guitar and violin jostle and weave around the metronomic beats, creating a cathartic and all-encompassing experience. The very nature of the instrumental repetitions gives it an immediate avant/krautrock feel but the whole record is coated in a wonderful psychedelic atmosphere that's both melodic, textured, and innovative. Without doubt a perfect marriage and the sum of its parts. You would be forgiven for thinking Noplace took years to craft, but that's testament to three excellent musicians who have produced a real treat of a record. Broken down into seven pieces, but best enjoyed as a thrilling whole, Noplace is a powerful and highly addictive album. File under: avant/krautrock/improv/experimental. Artwork by Christopher Hefner. Mastered by Lawrence English. Includes download code; 180 gram vinyl; Edition of 500. KONSTRUKT & KEIJI HAINOA Philosophy Warping, Little By Little That Way Lies A Quagmire LP $23.99Turkish free jazzers Konstrukt and the Japanese avant-garde/noise icon Keiji Haino present their first collaboration album. Formed early 2008 in Istanbul, Konstrukt have since been gaining high reputation and an ever-growing audience within European improvised music circles. Over the past decade, the Turkish free jazzers not only released a couple of superb albums under their own name -- they also regularly invite significant musicians like Peter Brötzmann, Joe McPhee, William Parker, Akira Sakata, Marshall Allen, Evan Parker, Thurston Moore, Michael Zerang, Alfred Harth, or Alexander Hawkins for recording sessions and/or concerts (a.o. at festivals like A L'arme, .Konfrontationen Nickels-Dorf, Krakow Jazz Autumn). Their latest work A Philosophy Warping, Little By Little That Way Lies A Quagmire sees Konstrukt team up with Keiji Haino -- and besides all the elements you may well expect from such a musical meeting like Konstrukt's "acerbic razor-edged sound" (Mark Corroto, All About Jazz) and Haino's unmistakable voice/guitar explosions, there's also some real surprises... Personnel: Korhan Futacı - alto and tenor saxophones, zurna, kaval, sipsi, instant loops, voice; Umut Çaglar - Moog (MicroMoog), Korg (X-911), gralla, bamboo flutes, xylophones, percussion, tape echo, Vermona (Retroverb); Berkan Tilavel - Nord (Drum2), electronic percussion, tef, cymbal; Erdem Göymen - drums, cymbals, percussion; Keiji Haino: electric guitar, percussion, voice, airsynths. Cover painting "Escape" by Artur Trojanowski. Recorded and mixed by Ozan Öner at Pür Recording Studio, Istanbul. Mastered by Rashad Becker at Dubplates & Mastering, Berlin. SUN RA & HIS ARKESTRAFeaturing Pharaoh Sanders And Black HaroldLP $29.99"'To understand the significance of the word 'featuring' on Featuring Pharoah Sanders And Black Harold, consider how infrequently Sun Ra used it and the exact way it had been used. The October Revolution in Jazz, organized by Bill Dixon in the West Village in 1964, presented a vivid cross section of approaches to the new music, including a sextet led by Ra. For the October Revolution's continuation, titled Four Days in December, held at nearby Judson Hall on the last days of 1964, the Arkestra performance presented Pharoah Sanders as well as a flautist (who was and remained obscure thereafter) named Harold Murray, nicknamed Black Harold. It wasn't until long after Sanders had achieved worldwide acclaim with John Coltrane that Ra and manager Alton Abraham decided to issue the music they'd recorded at Judson Hall. After its first release in plain or hand-decorated covers in 1976, Featuring Pharoah Sanders And Black Harold remained an exceptionally rare item in the El Saturn discography, known to a few lucky collectors. We're lucky to have this glimpse of what Sanders sounded like in such a different context, galvanizing the large group and in turn being inspired to make his first significant contribution on record.' --John Corbett (excerpt from the liner notes)" PROGETTO MORTEProgetto MorteLP $25.99In 1995, Marco Corbelli shaped an interesting side-project, Progetto Morte, in collaboration with Walter Piano. The outcome of these twisted minds was a tape with the same title of the project recorded at Corbelli's home on June 10, 1995 and released the same year on Slaughter Productions with a booklet with the lyrics of the seven tracks, wrote by Walter Piano in Italian, and with the first Progetto Morte proclamation (translated in English too) revealing the nihilistic concept of this new alliance: the total sense of no-existence. The tracks on cassette are monolithic machines of industrial death that are portrayed in lovingly, grating, and rasping detail, with engines of soul rapine and pulsating, paranoid words eager to slice their way through soft flesh. The putrescence is tangible, and one could almost smell and taste the miasma of decay that pervades the entire vinyl. A blood and thunder, bass-heavy assault on the senses. Cold and surgical power electronics inspired by death, diseases, and suicide. Reprinted for the first in LP, tracks were remastered from the original tapes. Comes in a deluxe silver silkscreen on black cardboard sleeve; Includes booklet with lyrics (in Italian) and flyer from the first USA concert in 1996; Black inner sleeve; 140 gram vinyl; Edition of 199. PATHAK, PANDIT ASHOKAncient Court Raga Traditions CD $13.992017 repress. Subtitled: The Pathak Gharana, Dhrupad Ragas On Surbahar. Performed by Pandit Ashok Pathak (surbahar). Ancient Court Raga Traditions is comprised of two long tracks: "Raga Malkauns" and "Raga Bagesri," recorded in 2000. Only part of India's noblest classical instrumental traditions have been adequately documented on recordings, beginning with sitarist Imdad Khan in 1905. With the compact disc, raga performances could expand from pioneering 4-minute excerpts on 78 rpm discs to span well beyond an hour on CD, allowing full development and style to unfold. One vital court style remains in a fragmentary way: the ancient art of dhrupad, characterized by slowly singing and playing, which favored the arrhythmic alap section, based on the ancient Vedic chant. Too few of these family-based traditions survived the ending of royal patronage. Amongst them are the Pathaks, representing a musical lineage through 5 generations of dhrupad singers, veena players and sitarists, with the current generation including a composer and tabla player. Balaram Pathak introduced the use of harmonics on sitar with meend, heard on his one CD. This unique practice has been further explored by (his son) Ashok, who uses it extensively, along with thematic playing on the sympathetic strings. Before beginning a raga, he dwells on these strings, at times playing two simultaneously, creating harmonies which he adopted after having heard it in pre-Renaissance Western music (in polyphonic works by Perotin, Josquin des Prez, etc.). The recording took place over two afternoons. Each raga was played through once and without any changes or edits, and the decision was made to play "Raga Malkauns" on the second afternoon. As Balaram Pathak recorded one short work on surbahar, these performances further reveal the rare court tradition Pandit Ashok represents, its continuation despite the odds of a diminishing public which prefers khyal, and the musical contributions made by the performer himself to further their lineage. Today in Soap Opera History (June 30)
On this date in...
1952: Popular CBS radio soap opera The Guiding Light, on the air since 1937 (originally on NBC Radio), made its television debut on CBS-TV. The original television cast included Theo Goetz, Jone Allison, Lyle Sudrow, Charita Bauer and Helen Wagner. In the episode, Meta lamented to her sister Trudy that she had left her husband Joe and her step-daughter Kathy hated her. Trudy convinced Meta to talk to Joe on the telephone. The Irna Phillips-created show continued to be broadcast on the radio as well until 1956. In 2009, after more than 72 years on radio and TV, Guiding Light finally went off the air. The show remains the longest running scripted series in broadcast history.
1999: On As the World Turns, Another World characters Vicky (Jensen Buchanan) and Jake McKinnon (Tom Eplin) met Tom Hughes (Scott Holmes) at a conference in Chicago. This was the first of many crossover appearances by Another World characters. Eplin remained with the show for three years as a contract player, while Stephen Schnetzer (Cass Winthrop) was recurring for a time in 2001.
2009: On Guiding Light, stressed about his dire health prognosis Phillip Spaulding (Grant Aleksander) visited his own grave.
