October 14th - Spitfire

Lady Jacqueline Falsworth is the daughter of the British aristocrat, Lord Montgomery Falsworth, who had been known during World War I as the costumed hero Union Jack. In early 1942, in the height of the Second World War, young Jacqueline was working with  Britain's Women's Voluntary Services. Herein, she was attacked by the vampiric axis agent known as Baron Blood.  She survived the attack but was dying from massive blood loss.  Desperate to save the young woman’s life, Jim Hammond (the hero known as the Human Torch) provided her an emergency blood transfusion.  

Jacqueline recovered and discovered that she now possessed superhuman speed.  She assumed this new power was a result of the transfusion she received from Scynthoid book, yet it  would later come to light that the experience had activated her latent X-gene (and that her powers are actually the product of her being a Mutant).  Regardless of their origins, Jacqueline was set on using her new powers to aide the Allied Forces.  She donned a colorful costume and took on the alias of ‘Spitfire.’  The allied super team, The Invaders, were initially reluctant to accept a woman into their ranks yet quickly changed their mind after Spitfire proved her tremendous skill and valor in battle.  

Spitfire fought alongside The Invaders for the duration of the war.  Afterwards she retired from super heroics, married and tended to her father’s estate.  Years later, Lady Jacqueline resumed her guise as Spitfire to assisst her former allies in defeating the returned nazi threat known as Master Man.  The villain was defeated but Jacqueline was severely injured.  Once more she was given a transfusion by The Human Torch and this time not only did it heal her but also had the strange effect of reversing her age so that she was once more a young woman.  

Uncertain what to do with this second chance at life, Jacqueline ended up as the director of Prince Namor's company, Oracle, Inc.  Later she returned to super heroics as a member of the new Invaders and, after that, as an operative of MI-13.  

It was later determined that Jacqueline’s de-aging was the result of the remnants of Baron Blood’s vampiric DNA becoming activated and returning her to the age she was when the Baron first attacked her.  Her vampire qualities have slowly emerged and Jacqueline has had to cope as best she can to resist the newfound bloodlust.  

The heroine first appeared in the pages of The Invaders Vol. 1 #7 (1976).

Oh! Well, I haven't actually written X-Men in SO MANY YEARS but: the old 90s cartoon was my introduction. Then when I was ten I was in Toys-R-Us and I saw a comic book next to the action figures??? I didn't even know they MADE THOSE!??? MOM MOM MOM LOOK I NEED THIS MOM!!!!

And that was uhhh. the beginning of the end, really. One of those "and my whole life changed" moments, second only to watching the first Star Wars at the age of six and seeing Leia come out with her blaster not set for stun and shoot that stormtrooper. BAM. And just like that, I was a different person forever.

Same with discovering comic books. The ability to put art and words together to tell a story??? SHEER PERFECTION.

I got my first AU Creation Training when I was a kid and my little brother and I would play action figures (almost always X-Men or Star Wars) because we'd spend like an hour pre-play determining what scenario we were going to do that day. "Canon or AU?" "AU." "Existing or New?" "New!" "Okay, what's the Point of Divergence...?" and then we'd map-out how everything in the continuity would change based around that pivot point up until the place where we wanted to start playing...and then we'd start to play.

Dear Marvel: Please put Excalibur / Dr. Faiza Hussain in more stuff. 😌🙏🏿

More than just the diversity aspect, she's a medical doctor & an accomplished combatant, gifted w/ mutant powers of biological manipulation (similar to Elixir) & was deemed worthy to wield the magical sword Excalibur (hence her admittedly uncreative hero name).

She even became Captain Britain at one point in another continuity!

Like, I know not all mutants join the X-Men. And she's already teamed up w/ Captain British before (MI-13, look it up). Still, she's a British woman (Pakistani British, check the hijab) who wields the literal magical sword Excalibur from Arthurian legend & bears its name as her own hero moniker.

💁🏿‍♂️If nothing else, Excalibur should wield the sword Excalibur in service of Captain Britain's British mutant superhero team, EXCALIBUR. 🤷🏿‍♂️

Things I think about from Phantom Liberty a lot. (For different reasons obviously)

When rescuing the president when Songbird tells you to scale the scaffolding and just very crisply orders you to Go. *twirls hair and kicks feet*

When Reed is questioning you at the basketball court if your honest with him that you weren’t looking for a tail he’ll say Attagirl (for female v) *twirls hair and kicks feet*

When You side with Songbird and Alex is in the room above you and she sees you and So Mi escape she turns around and whines “Reed, they’re giving us the slip!” (This one I just like how whiney she sounded like two kids at a playground weren’t sharing, not a rando merc is helping an NUSA Traitor escape)

Anytime V is worried about Song, the distress in her voice as she calls out to see if she’s ok (thinking of NCX and when the plane gets downed specifically)

Anytime you do well on a mission Songbird or Reed praise you.

When you side with So Mi and comfort Reed at NCX when he’s counting down you can here his voice break on two and it hurts my heart so much. I didn’t want to kill him but I wasn’t going to let him get So Mi.

September 29th - Captain Avalon

Born and raised in the small town of Maldon, Essex, Brian Braddock grew up a  shy and studious youth.  He spent most of his time studying and conversing with his older brother, Jaimie, and twin sister, Betsy.

In the wake of the tragic deaths of his parents, Brian accepted a position as a research fellow at the prestigious Darkmoor Labs.  Some time thereafter, the facility was attacked by the super villain known as The Reaver.  Brian attempted to escape on his motorcycle so to alert the authorities.  He was run off the road by The Reaver and crashed into a riverbed.  

Near death, Brian was visited by the spirits of the powerful mage, Merlyn, and his daughter, Roma.  These entities offered Brian the opportunity to become their champion, ‘Captain Britain.’  Provided with the powerful Amulet of Right, Brian was instantly healed of his injuries and imbued with awesome new powers.  

Brain would later come to learn that these powers are the effect of his becoming a dimensional conduit.  herein, his abilities are powered by inter-dimensional energies which are concentrated around the British Isles of each reality throughout the multiverse.  

As Captain Britain, Brian would go on to have countless adventures as the champion of the The United Kingdom and its peoples, as well as the defender of Earth-616 as a member of the multiversal Captain Britain Corps. He would go on to help form the super team, Excalibur, and additionally served as a member of The Avengers, The Champions of Europe and MI-13.  During his adventures, Brian met the Mutant hero Meggan and the two fell in love.  The pair married and have a daughter named Maggie.

Later, following his corruption at the hands of Morgan le Fay, Brian’s sister Betsy took on the mantle of Captain Britain.  Brian recovered from Morgan’s influence but decided that his sister should retain the title of Captain Britain, choosing for himself the new moniker of ‘Captain Avalon’ the defender of the realm of Avalon.

The hero first appeared in Captain Britain Vol 1 1 (1976).

Yui: Jaque mate… Ahora la batalla ha terminado.

Reiji: Sí, si te trasladas a la casilla de Ruki los Orange habrán perdido.

Yui: (Una vez que avance a la casilla de Ruki-kun todo habrá acabado…)

Yui: Ruki-kun…

Ruki: Jamás imaginé que Eva me daría el golpe de gracia…—Hemos perdido.

Yui: Sí, perdóname, pero hemos ganado…

Yui: Sin embargo, me alegra que nadie saliera herido. Gracias por aceptar este desafío.

Ruki: Sentir lástima por el enemigo solo lo hará sentirse aún más miserable. Date prisa y acaba conmigo.

Reiji: No podemos hacer eso. Sería un problema que fallecieras—

Reiji: Puesto que dos de mis torpes hermanos están en tu equipo.

Kino: Aunque… dudo que este sea el fin.

Reiji: —Eso es lo que ella y yo hemos experimentado desde el momento en el que llegamos a esta lugar y vuestra verdadera naturaleza.

Yuma: Mentira… ¡¿Ruki era mi hermano mayor?!

Shu: ¿Ellos son mis hermanos menores…?

Ayato: ¿A qué viene esa mirada? ¡Yo tampoco estoy feliz de saber esto!

Kanato: Ya de por sí ser cuatro hermanos era fastidioso y resulta que en realidad somos seis… Es un infierno.

Shin: Es obvio que se inventaron todo eso. Es imposible que modifiquen nuestros recuerdos con tanta facilidad.

Yui: Eso es lo que más nos preocupa.

Yui: ¿Quién podría ser capaz de crear algo como esto?

Yui: Pero no hay duda de que alguien hizo todo esto, esa persona altero los recuerdos de todos y nos dejó atrapados en esta dimensión.

Yui: Todos ustedes están peleando entre sí porque es lo que ese ser desea.

Ruki: …Me cuesta creerlo.

Reiji: No les pido que nos crean de inmediato, pero quiero que nos ayuden.

Reiji: No podremos salir de esta dimensión nosotros solos. Sería reconfortante poder contar con vuestro apoyo.

Yui: Ruki-kun… por favor.

Ruki: …Está bien.

Yui: ¡¿Eh…?!

Ruki: Al fin y al cabo, perdimos. Además, si conseguir a Eva no sirve de nada, entonces no tiene sentido que pongamos nuestras vidas en riesgo para obtenerla.

Ruki: Me tomaré mi tiempo para comprobar si lo que dicen es verdad. Pero por ahora, los ayudaremos.

Reiji: Gracias por tomar esa sabía decisión.

Yui: (¡Ruki-kun nos ayudará…!)

Reiji: No es lo que esperaba, pero parece que hemos avanzado.

Yui: ¡Sí! Ahora ya no tendremos que pelear contra los Orange.

Yui: Además, es reconfortante saber que Ruki-kun y el resto estarán de nuestro lado.

Reiji: Vaya, lo dices como si mi presencia no era suficiente para darte paz.

Yui: ¡¿Kyaa?!

Sócrates: Que situación tan lamentable… Tanto que no me queda más opción que intervenir.

Yui: La luz… ¿Está hablando?

Reiji: ¿Quién eres?

Sócrates: Mi nombre es Sócrates. Soy quien creó esta dimensión y alteró vuestros recuerdos.

Reiji: ¡¿Sócrates…?!

Yui: ¿Lo conoces?

Reiji: S-sí… Si la memoria no me falla, esta persona es un buen amigo de mi padre.

Sócrates: Porque quise poner a prueba si el Adán al que mi amigo eligió era realmente el correcto.

Reiji: Solo puedo intentar deducir lo sucedido, pero, en resumen, ¿dudas del juicio de mi padre?

Sócrates: No, es solo que no podía aceptarlo. No iba a aceptarlo hasta que yo mismo lo pusiera a prueba.

Yui: ¿Entonces para qué alteraste nuestros recuerdos? ¡¿Por qué los hiciste pelear entre ellos?!

Sócrates: Para poder poner a prueba el amor entre Adán y Eva.

Yui: ¿Poner a prueba su amor…?

Sócrates: El amor y el cariño se basan en los recuerdos. ¿Podrán volver a amarse incluso tras perderlos?

Sócrates: Quería comprobarlo. Es por eso que alteré sus recuerdos y los encerré en este lugar.

Sócrates: En esta dimensión, en este jardín en miniatura con forma de tablero de ajedrez.

Yui: ¿Para ponernos a prueba…? ¿Solo por eso…?

Yui: (¡Alguien pudo haber salido herido…!)

Reiji: En base a tus palabras. ¿puedo asumir que ella es Eva y yo soy Adán? ¿Nos estabas poniendo a prueba?

Reiji: Como ves, hemos recuperado nuestros recuerdos y hemos vuelto a unirnos.

Reiji: No hay necesidad de continuar la prueba. ¿Podrías liberarnos a todos?

Sócrates: No puedo.

Reiji: ¿Por qué no?

Sócrates: Que hayan vuelto a estar juntos no es el resultado que yo esperaba. No es suficiente.

Sócrates: El rey supremo es en otras palabras Adán. Este ser posee un corazón que está dispuesto a eliminar al resto con tal de obtener a Eva.

Sócrates: Y te falta eso.

Yui: ¿Eliminar al resto…? ¿Acaso estás insinuando que hay debe matar a los demás? ¡No hay forma de que haga eso!

Sócrates: Entonces tendrán que vivir eternamente en este jardín en miniatura.

Yui: ¡No puede ser…!

Reiji: Es una pena, pero no habrá más conflicto. Hemos forjado una alianza con los Orange.

Reiji: Y también detendré a los Violet.

Sócrates: ¿Por qué llegarías a tal punto? Ustedes eran quienes peleaban por poder salir de esta dimensión.

Sócrates: Solo deben acabar con el resto. Les he dado la respuesta, ¿por qué dudan?

Reiji: Acabar con absolutamente todo— Sé perfectamente lo estúpida que es esa mentalidad.

Reiji: Los recuerdos de mi pasado están grabados a fuego en mi ser…

Reiji: No pienso repetir la misma tragedia, incluso si eso significa ir en contra de tu voluntad.

Yui: Reiji-san…

Sócrates: …Ya veo. Así que esa es la decisión de Adán. Respetaré tu voluntad.

Sócrates: Sin embargo, la prueba no puede ser interrumpida.

Yui: ¿Eh? ¡¿Por qué…?!

Sócrates: Mientras quede, aunque sea una última pieza en el tablero y no se rompan las reglas…

Sócrates: Esta prueba no acabará. Así fue como construí este jardín en miniatura. Ni siquiera yo puedo destruirlo.

Yui: ¡No puede ser…!

Sócrates: No tienen que lamentarse. Solo deben pelear hasta que derroten a todas las piezas.

Sócrates: Si no quieren matar a nadie, entonces reajustaré las reglas.

Sócrates: Yo fui quien proporcionó las provisiones para que pudieran vivir. Deshagámonos de eso.

Reiji: ¿…Qué?

Reiji: Dijo que quería poner a prueba a Adán y Eva. En otras palabras, nos estuvo poniendo a prueba a nosotros.

Reiji: Y aún no hemos logrado convencerlo…

Yui: Sí… Dijo que no nos dejaría salir hasta que elimines al resto.

Yui: Pero no podemos hacer eso. No hay forma de que eliminemos al resto para poder salir de aquí…

Yui: Tienes razón. Debe haber otra forma…
