The Naomi Milgrom Foundation has selected 1995 Pritzker Prize Laureate Tadao Ando to design the tenth MPavilion, which will be installed in Melbourne’s Queen Victoria Gardens.
“I have long admired how Tadao Ando responds to and incorporates the particularity of a place into his design, and his belief that architecture can shape a society,” said Naomi Milgrom.

The 2022-23 #MPavilion is by all(zone), female-led practice in Bangkok founded by Rachaporn Choochuey. There are 3 layers in its ‘tent’ roof: top made of fishing nets; transparent STFE polyarylate mesh; fabric waffle. It is the 9th such gift to #melbournelife from the Naomi Milgrom Foundation; the previous pavilions are located in public areas around the city. Can finally share a project I've been working on for the last 7 or so months. Got put up to it by a designer that I look up to a whole whole lot and it took over our lives for a little while. The images are only select slices that were meant to be a part of a much larger runway focused experimental publication. It was cut out super last second by municipal bureaucracy, but it felt like a shame to not share given the amount of work that went into it by everyone. The publication became more of a straightforward lookbook by the end of the project, but still very happy with the end work.
Couldn't recommend checking out Leanne's work more - it's incredible. Her designs are all transformative in nature, starting as object and becoming wearable garments. The collection is intended as an exploration and reflection on the notion of diaspora and placelessness.

I’m really honoured to be sharing some of my biodesign research interests with a truly inspiring curation of humans at @mpavilion today, March 14, 3.30pm. All linked by a fascination with biological systems design the panel is moderated by the wonderful @sarahnaarden and features Maree Clarke @ree_clarke , Kristen Whittle, Ollie Cotsaftis @futures_design Natalia Alima @bio_lab & Dylan Brady @decibelarchitecture The image depicts cellulose formed by bacteria fed by food waste, under SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy) at 6000x magnification. Produced as part of my current practice led research at the RMIT School of Design. *The event will proceed as planned* Please join us for this discussion in the gardens! #biodesign #biomaterials #ngvmelbournedesignweek #mpavilion #kristenwhittle #mareeclarke #futurematerials #newmaterialism #biofabricate #biofacture #design #biofabrication #melbournedesign #ecotextiles #textiles #slowfashion #sem #bacteria #biotextiles #microbialtextiles #bacterialtextiles (at MPavilion) https://www.instagram.com/p/B9sroI_nWaB/?igshid=wcp3mghs3i3s
