How Myofunctional Therapy Can Help Prevent the Need for Braces 🦷
Did you know your child’s tongue posture, swallowing habits, and even breathing style can affect how their teeth grow and align? That’s where Myofunctional Therapy steps in — a gentle, non-invasive approach that can help prevent the need for braces later in life! Myofunctional therapy is like “physical therapy for the mouth.” It strengthens the tongue, lips, cheeks, and helps correct habits like:
Mouth breathing
Tongue thrust
Improper swallowing
Thumb sucking
Poor oral posture These issues can lead to narrow jaws, crowded teeth, or bite problems — often requiring braces if not caught early. But with timely myofunctional therapy, guided by a skilled pediatric dentist, many of these problems can be corrected naturally as your child grows.
At Smiles and Hearts Dental Clinic, Sector 46, Gurugram, we closely monitor oral habits and offer early interventions tailored for kids — especially those with special needs or speech delays. Because a healthy smile starts before the braces! Looking for a kids dentist near me who offers holistic dental care? We’re here for your child every step of the way!

You might think breathing through your mouth isn’t a big deal, but it actually is. A lot of us end up breathing through our mouth without even realizing it, which can significantly impact our overall health including but not limited to our airway health, quality of sleep, posture, heart health, dental health and even our facial structure. Myofunctional therapy aims to fix bad habits like breathing through the mouth, the low tongue posture and incorrect swallowing.

So while I've been attempting to do the stretches and things I'm supposed to be doing after the actual cutting of my tongue tie, until today everything's been too sore to do very well at it. It's hard to tell because it no longer looks the same as before (that is, scorched from the laser) but I'm really hoping I haven't had any level of reattachment and that I'm still just sore and need to continue with the exercises. But I've got a follow-up cleaning in November, so I guess if there's an issue they can tell me then.

i must talk to the guy who offered me the part time bookkeeper job again (wasn't 100% sure i was qualified for it when he first brought it up lol) and depending on what the pay is, i may survive after all
#i am moving money around arbitrarily in my accounts to pretend that i am doing something#and I've gotten the credit card debt low enough now that it's theoretically possible to have it paid off before i would have my surgery#which of course is only the case if i use the e-begged amount for the current debt and then just take on more debt lol#so far I've only pulled from it to make my payments to joss for the amount that i borrowed from her for the myofunctional therapy#so that way i don't have to give her my entire bonus next summer lol#so if this extra job pays even what I'm hoping for as a low estimate i should make it#and escape the pits of debt slavery in like 2 years#i think

Furthermore, Total Speech Therapy's pioneering treatment also encompasses concerns related to the airway and tethered oral tissue.
To achieve optimal results, Total Speech Therapy is intensive and requires unwavering commitment. Daily practice is essential and should be incorporated multiple times a day, including during meals. The experienced and licensed therapists at Total Speech Therapy work closely with each patient, devising a personalized treatment plan that targets the individual's specific concerns and goals.

Sleep apnea is a sleep disorder that is characterised by a pause in breathing while a person is asleep. And snoring is a sound caused by vibrations of respiratory structures such as the nose, mouth, throat, and upper airway passages, resulting from the obstructed airflow while a person is asleep.

one of the most interesting post-op realizations i've had is that my swallowing difficulties were specifically from the fact that if i raised the back of my tongue, the muscles on the side were so tight it would legitimately close my throat (by pulling the floor of my mouth up with it)
like no wonder i have had a miserable time with eating literally my entire life, there was certainly an acquired psychological component to it too that didn't help but that was definitely a reaction to a very real sensation
it makes sense now also why when i first started myofunctional therapy, there was an exercise i had been assigned where i had to make a ka and ga sound from the back of my tongue and i wasn't able to do it initially because it would make me gag a little after a few repetitions. which is an insane problem to have. but of course that was my throat constricting as the muscle worked harder
anyway, just thought i'd overshare
