A trailer for the anime film based on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's autobiographical novel Totto-chan: The Little Girl at the Window was unveiled via the film's official website.

C’est par le biais du site officiel du projet qu’a été présenté ce mardi un nouveau trailer pour le film autobiographique Madogiwa no Totto-chan (Totto-chan, la petite fille à la fenêtre), dont la diffusion est prévue pour le 8 décembre prochain dans les salles obscures japonaises. Pour le moment, nous ne savons pas encore si ce long-métrage bénéficiera d’une diffusion en France.À travers cette bande-annonce, nous pouvons notamment entendre la chanson thème du film, le titre « Ano ne », interprété par la chanteuse Aimyon. Nouveau trailer du film Madogiwa no Totto-chan Synopsis du film Madogiwa no Totto-chan Ce long-métrage raconte l’histoire de l’école Tomoe à Tokyo pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, qui associait l’apprentissage au plaisir, à la liberté et à l’amour. Cette école hors du commun avait de vieux wagons de chemin de fer en guise de salles de classe et était dirigée par un homme extraordinaire – son fondateur et directeur, Sosaku Kobayashi – qui croyait fermement en la liberté d’expression et d’activité.En ces lieux, la jeune Totto-chan prend goût à l’étude, assume ses échecs et gagne en autonomie, écrit des haïkus et rêve de danser. また図書館で日本語の本を借りた。今は『窓ぎわのトットちゃん』を読んでいる。トットちゃんという1年生の女の子が主人公の本だ。トットちゃんの迷惑行為が過ぎるので、先生はトットちゃんに退学するように言った。その行為は、たとえば、トットちゃんは授業中、いつも机のふたを開けては閉めるのだ。宿題を間違えたとき、ふたを開けて消しゴムを取り出してはバタンと音を立ててふたを閉める。消しゴムを使った後も、またふたを開けて机の中に消しゴムを戻してはまたバタンと音を立ててふたを閉める。あいにく、トットちゃんはそれを何度も繰り返したので、先生はとてもイライラした。

私はまだ２章しか読んでないけど、トットちゃんは想像的で面白い子だと思う。トットちゃんは迷惑な存在かもしれないけど、周りの人たちがどう思うか気にしていないだけだと思う。

I checked out a Japanese book at the library again. Currently, I'm reading Madogiwa no Totto-chan. It's a book about a first grader named Totto-chan. Her teacher asked her to leave school because of her disruptive behavior. For example, during class, Totto-chan would always open and close her desk lid. When she would make mistake on her assignment, she would open the desk lid, pull out her eraser, and shut the lid with a bang! She would use the eraser, open the lid, put the eraser back inside, and shut the lid with a bang. Unfortunately, she did this more than once. The teacher was really frustrated. I have only read two chapters, but I think Totto-chan is an imaginative and interesting girl. She is disruptive, but don't think that she's aware of her surroundings.

Langblr Diary Challenge 11/30

I didn’t write anything today. I studied kanji. I have 130 kanji left in the RTK deck, which covers 2200 kanji. However, in Kanji Learner’s Course, the author covers 2300 kanji, so that’s an extra 100 kanji that I may or may not know by the time I finish RTK. I don’t know if I’ll try to figure out which ones those are... I am still working through Madogiwa no Totto-chan. I read one chapter yesterday; I can understand the gist of it, but there are some words that I don’t know. I know I’ll end up renewing the book again.

I was staring out the windshield as I was on my way somewhere, thinking about how I knew another language. Like, I know Japanese--I thought that was just so amazing. Ten years ago, I had the opportunity to formally study Japanese at my new university. I had fun, met new friends, got my minor, and built a nice friendship with my Japanese teacher.

In the recent years, I had the opportunity to meet new Japanese friends, and a couple of weeks ago, I said goodbye to one of my Japanese friends who graduated from junior college. Speaking to her in my rusted Japanese made me realize how much I just loved to hear the language float of my lips--no matter how fractured it sounded. Listening to her speak to me and ask me questions crushed my heart: Everything she said sat in the customs of my mind--her words foreign entities waiting to be processed. It made me realize how far I’ve come and how far I really am from where I want to be in learning the language.

I know that these days I’ve allowed a lot of things to consume my mind, but I shouldn’t allow those things to keep me from doing the things I love. I finally got back into still life photography after a long hiatus. But, here is what I’ve been doing these days in my Japanese studies. I have been finishing up the remaining few hundred kanji (380 left), slowly making my way through the Shin Kanzen Master N2 Vocabulary book, slowly reading through a novel I picked up at the library called 窓ぎわのトットちゃん (Madogiwa no Totto-chan), and actually watching more Japanese dramas instead of the Korean ones.

I also wondered if I should take the N2 this year or push it out for another year. While I could probably do six months of diligent study, I’m wondering if that’s reasonable with all of my obligations (i.e. reviewing five masters theses, starting a new graduate school, mom opening a school). In that, I’m not really sure, and I’m not sure if I want to try. Although it would pain my heart to put off N2 for another year, it might be for the best if I’m looking to pass it.

For now, I will focus on finishing up kanji, and if I’m diligent with doing 20 per day, I should finish them all in a little over two weeks. After which, I will be creating a reasonable study schedule that I can adhere to. I want to get back to doing grammar and posting grammar notes on this site again, which I feel is so important and one of my favorite things to post.

In any case, I hope to do more updates in the future and fully delve back into my Japanese studies.
