Invocation to Open the Chalice

(Place a drop of hyssop oil in the tin bowl. Breathe slowly. Touch your heart, then the bowl. Speak aloud or whisper with intent.)

“O Divine River of the Endless One,

Source that flows before the first word,

I cleanse this vessel—of metal and of flesh—

With hyssop, holy and bitter, to draw forth mercy.

Where love was blocked, let it now break.

Where grace was reversed, let it now return.

Let the Cup no longer spill, but fill.

Let the stream of divine compassion move again.

Hello fellow writers and readers! This is #septemberauthorwipchallenge Day 22 – Equinox: seasonal celebrations in your WIP.

Well, we kind of went crazy on worldbuilding and made a full calendar and different festivities for all three kingdoms of Iynen’s Peninsula haha. But there’s one in particular that’s common to all of them, the Profane Ritual of Stars. On that date, sages and member of all magic practitioner races gather on places of magical convergence, naked, and join bodies and souls in ritual, simulating the bond between Ahos and Shehrats, to renovate their sources of magic power with nature. Despite being frowned upon by many, it’s one of the oldest celebrations in our world. What did you think of the Profane Ritual of Stars? Any celebrations like that on you WIP?

Spell and Homeopathy for Menopause Symptoms

A friend has been having a ton of trouble with hot flashes from menopause so I created a combination homeopathic and spell treatment for her. The spell is very strongly based on deity work, but all of the elements should be adaptable! I also included my notes on all correspondences  and herbs at the bottom if the person you are working with has other symptoms in need of addressing.

Active Components

Planet - Jupiter

Crystals - Lapis Lazuli

Chakra - Third Eye

Deities - Inanna

Purifier - St. John’s Wort;

Can be substituted with Sage

Active Herb - White Willow (Salix alba)

Can be substituted with Black Cohosh (Cimicifuga racemose)

Secondary Herb - White Peony (Paeonia lactiflora)

Holiday Associations - Samhain, Midsummer

Additional Homeopathic Elements - Oats (Avena sativa)

Additional Magical Element - Myrrh

Homeopathic treatment

Eat 25-50g of oats as a breakfast cereal, or with other food.

Create a tincture* of White Willow with a 1:5 ratio of herb to alcohol (200g dried, 300g fresh to 1qt alcohol). Alternatively, tablets can be taken. Take 1 tsp of tincture with water at night. If alcohol should not be used (for personal reasons or due to gastric inflammation), add 1 tsp to a small glass of almost boiling water and leave it for 5 minutes to allow the alcohol to evaporate. If alcohol must be avoided altogether, replace the alcohol with vinegar or glycerol.

If relief is not present within a few weeks, consider incorporating a decoction of 20g White Peony root to 3 cups of water, to be sipped throughout the day. If this is incorporated, magic will need to be reworked to incorporate white peony. 

Magic

Ritual conducted on 1 Jan 2022, the first favorable day for the working.

Wear pendant to Inanna.

Open by burning St. John's Wort (preferably in a shell if working with Inanna) to purify space and form circle.

Light cinnamon incense and invoke Inanna. Cinnamon will take over if the St. John’s Wort is not sufficient to smoke for the entire ritual.

Carve purple candle (this was a substitution, indigo preferred) with a spiral (holy symbol of Inanna) as a symbol of evolution, calling on Inanna to ease this transition time and evolution from one phase of life to the next.

Anoint candle with myrrh, calling to Imbolc as a time of new beginnings, and myrrh as healer and easer of pain.

Place candle in a shell filled with water, calling on Inanna to provide healing and cleansing.

Light the candle, invoking the Third Eye as a source of illumination, and calling for a balancing of the endocrine system.

Place Lapis Lazuli down, one piece in the shell and the other on the incense holder. Call to Inanna as the great Queen who triumphed over the pain of being left dead, and ask her to bring the full joys of life to Name.

Meditate and wait for the candle to burn halfway.

When the candle is burnt down halfway, extinguish it with spit, offering a piece of yourself in thanks.

Pour any wax into the shell for divination.

Read any signs and make note.

Extinguish cinnamon incense and light a small amount of cedar. Give thanks to Inanna for her power and praise her glory. Call on her passion and energy and thank her for sharing it.

Wait until cedar is extinguished then close the circle.

If possible, have the subject of the spell hold lapis lazuli during the working. Also place lapis lazuli either next to their bed or store with their white willow.

Spell will be either reworked or closed on Midsummer, at which time the remainder of the candle will be burned. Additional notes to be posted at that time.

Additional Elements for Consideration and Relevance of Elements

The aspects I focused on in this working are bolded. Potential dangers of herbs are italicized.

Crystals

Lapis Lazuli - Healing, invoke Inanna. Throat (hearing and speech, thyroid, arms and neck, brow), Third Eye (eyes, sinuses, endocrine system), Crown (central nervous system) chakras. Sagittarius, Capricorn. Midsummer.

Blue Sapphire - General healing stone to discourage any sort of disease and encourage physical health. Useful for depression, anger issues, helping calm chaotic thoughts. Throat chakra (hearing and speech, thyroid, arms and neck, throat). Communication, general healing.

Herbs (homeopathic uses)*

Decreased Estrogen and Progesterone Levels

Chaste Tree (Vitex agnus-castus)

Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus)

Black Cohosh (Cimicifuga racemosa)

Combines well with sage

Depression and Decreased Vitality

St. John’s Wort (Hypericum perforatum)

Oats (Avena sativa)

Hot Flashes and Night Sweats

Sage (Salvia officinalis)

White Willow (Salix alba) OR Black Cohosh (Cimicifuga racemosa)

White Peony (Paeonia lactiflora)

Herbs (magical uses)

Sage - Purification (wherever possible I avoid using sage as it is a closed practice, hard on the environment, and there are excellent substitutes available); wish manifestation; associated with Samhain; Jupiter ruled; absorbs negativity and misfortune; carry as an herb of protection

White Willow - Protects from evil influences; connection to ancient British burial sites; healing aura that blesses all it touches; funeral herb associated with last rites and the Otherworld

Make sure to appeal to at least one deity connected to the Otherworld to make clear that you wish to enhance their time on Earth, not hurry their journey to the Otherworld.

Black Cohosh - Ruled by Pluto

White Peony - Associated with Sun; strong protector and healer; take caution in using with deity work if your deity is not from China or Inner Mongolia

Chaste Tree - Ruled by Pluto; used for fertility magic, Goddess energy, protection, and sex magic; good for balancing sexual issues; will reduce sexual desire

Oats - Ruled by Mercury and Jupiter; associated with Lugnasad; bestows joy and grace

Shatavari - Flying herb;

Do not use with someone who is not a witch with experience in spirit work or flying

Myrrh - Goddess plant of the Moon’s sphere; sacred to Isis; moves stagnant blood through the uterus; associated with Imbolc; associated with Jupiter

Internal use for longer than a few weeks could lead to kidney damage
